Lulu’s Bakery in Plymouth

Lulus provided a birthday cake for my daughter at very short notice. Not only was it beautiful it also tasted delicious. I will certainly recommend Lulus to others.

I have visited previously for treats such as brownies etc and always enjoyed . However I had ordered some sheet cakes and cupcakes for my daughters birthday and party , and I was so disappointed , on collection day, the sheet cakes were not ready and had to be remade , luckily the party was for the following day so could arrange someone to collect , but was only told this on collection. I did not pick the cakes up and given that the party was on that day I didn’t have time to complain or arrange for a new cake etc so I dealt with what I had , I was so saddened to see that the cakes didn’t really look much like I had asked for in terms of their , and on a pink sheet cake the piping was in black, didn’t look delicate or girly at all, I hid one cake under the table and I managed to peel off and scrape the black piping for the cake on display and replaced with cake toppers I had from previous . The reason I didn’t complain directly was as I was going to , I saw another customer had shared a social media post much the same as my experience which had already been mentioned on the shops page , I’m not one to kick a person when they are down but I also am giving my honest opinion of my own personal experience . I personally wouldn’t order anything to be made specifically again , I am aware that the shop is capable of doing wonderful cakes I’ve seen some lovely pictures , sadly , I don’t think it was their week when I chose for mine to be done .

It's really cute inside and a really nice atmosphere but everything really sweet and all the sweets are coverd with icing ..

Our whole family are regular visitors to Lulu’s. Louise and the team make absolutely delicious food and drinks and are always so friendly and welcoming. There is always such a wide variety of cakes and treats each week to choose from. The blondies and brownies are a big hit in our household. Also, Louise has made us two beautiful celebration cakes. Her designs and flavours of her bakes are so clever and unique, they looked gorgeous and tasted amazing. Highly recommend a visit.

Always come to Lulu’s when visiting the area from Essex. My husband is obsessed with the coffee made here and even talks about it invetween visits! My young boys always love picking out a yummy treat that look “amazing” and apparently they also make the “best hot chocolate ever” according to my 4 year old! Highly recommend the bagels also! Will continue to visit every time we visit and can’t wait to move to the area so we can come more often! We have always been made to feel very welcome and treated very well by staff :)

I would not recommend this bakery. There are much better ones in the area. Thought I’d give it a try even though some of the social media posts were defensive and rude to their customers. But the reality is that this is the same in the bakery. It was empty inside with no customers which should have been a red flag. Then had to wait to be served whilst the servers were chatting. The cakes were a little stale and definitely not ‘award winning’ as advertised. If you are in the area, I would check out Milas Bakery or Devon Finest Chocolate Bombs and Treats instead! Much nicer and more choice!

My friend ordered and collected 6 scones for a girlie weekend away on 27th September for a special occasion. We bough the jam and cream and were looking forward to a cream tea. When I cut my scone in half it was raw in the middle and so were all the others, disappointed but these things happen so not to worry. Went down to lu lu's on the Monday with a photo of the scone only to be told ' well we haven't had any complaints from other customers who had scones on that day' very dismissive but would ask the shop owner to call me' That was 2 weeks ago, can never get them to answer the phone. Will never shop here again .

My husband brought me a birthday cake from Lulus and it was amazing! So fresh and delicious. Icing was thick and creamy and the blackcurrant jam stopped it being sickly. Everyone who had a slice said how delicious it was and the fact they made it dairy free was even better!

Had a beautiful birthday cake for my daughter- much bigger than expected and the flavour was absolutely delicious - highly recommend

Cannot fault this business! My daughter messaged the day before I came home from a break away during my birthday asking if it was possible to have 12 cupcakes made for next day pick up, not only did they say not a problem and had them ready 24 hours later but they tasted amazing and looked beautiful! Delicious lemon cupcakes with lovely icing design on them. Would definitely recommend, we will come in at some point for a coffee too as it’s easy access inside if you use a walker/wheelchair which is always a bonus 🥰💖

Prices are way too high . Cakes definitely look good but do not taste nice at all .save your money , Go to milas . Such a shame really .

Very disappointing visit. Took my daughter for lunch here today,as the cafe looked really cute. The service was fine but the food was poor and overpriced. I ordered the Victoria sponge for my daughter, which was £4.95 for a tiny slice and when it arrived it was stale. I returned it and had a replacement biscoff brownie which was also not very fresh. I ordered the avocado on toast with a poached egg which was £9.95. The portion was small for the price and the egg was over cooked. I also found what I thought was a hard piece of plastic on the plate, which I was later told was rock salt? No offer of a refund.

The customer service is just terrible, I’ve been here a few times and it’s been dead. And still you don’t get greeted, we also have actually sat in the shop what seemed alone for the entirety of our lunch. One lady actually came in for a takeaway coffee and was stood for 10 minutes before anyone noticed her. I’ve ordered birthday cakes, popped in for treats time again and I’m always so disappointed. The cakes are so dry they’re almost stale. The box I just bought I got them home had one bite and threw them all away. Incredibly over priced.

Looks fantastic on social media, looks super cute from the outside. Sadly, not a very good experience on my first and last visit. Customer service was dire. Very unhappy and unhelpful server. Felt very unwelcome. No friendly chat, nothing. They weren’t busy, so not like they had no time for a simple smile, welcome etc. Felt very awkward, So much so that I opted to sit outside, drink my coffee quickly and leave. I’m a local, certainly won’t be going back.

Had my cake made for my son’s 6th birthday and it was made to perfection! I ordered the cake via the website and put as much detail of how I would like the cake to look etc. The cake exceeded my expectations! Not only did the cake looks amazing it also tasted amazing which you don’t always find! My son was so happy 😁 thank you Lulus bakery I will be back in the future!

Always incredible: food, service, coffee and cakes. I’d say I’m a bit of a regular here now! I visit far too much but it really is lovely. The cakes are so delicious, I always get my occasion cakes from Lou, I visit with my family, friends and on my own. Highly recommend! The only drawback is I wish they were open until later in the day.

Oh my goodness what an amazing bakery. I'm not very outgoing but when I went to Lulu's Bakery I was made to feel welcome and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble and the 2 young ladies behind the counter had massive smiles, so they must enjoy their work. Lulu's is not a massive establishment but I've been to large places and some really posh places, none of them can hold a candle to the things I've had at Lulu's. I've had their homemade bagels with bacon, their ham and cheese toasties, their blondies, cupcakes and cookies. All are made on the premises, fresh and tasty. My favourite is their croissants with cream and fresh strawberries...yum! My mouth drools just thinking of them. Coffee and tea are fresh and excellent quality, delicious! Lulu's is an award winning Bakery and rightly so, they make cakes to order for special occasions or just for a treat and even Local businesses are ordering goodies from Lulu's which is wonderful. Lulu's deserves to thrive. Its somewhere I recommend to family and friends. Even my niece who can only have gluten free, can treat herself at Lulu's because they cater for different dietary requirements. Dogs are welcome too. I've had birthday cakes made for a 21st birthday, a 65th birthday, my sisters birthday too. In November Lulu's made a cake for my daughters 40th birthday. I took it to her in Aylesbury and she loved it. None of the cakes last long they are delicious and everyone was different. Lulu's is a must for fresh, homemade delicious food for any occasion or just for a treat.

Lulu's made some amazing biscuits & cupcakes for my sister's baby shower. I asked if they could be Teddy bear themed and blue & they came up with a really beautiful design. Everyone commented on how great they looked and how tasty they were. Communication through Facebook was spot on too! Thank you!

Lulu’s is my favourite bakery and my absolute go to. The food is delicious (all the cakes are amazing but a special shout out to the cake jars, cookie pies and breakfast bagel). The staff are wonderful - they are always welcoming and friendly and the cafe is a beautiful place to take a moment to relax and eat the goodies you’ve purchased. Me and my family are regular visitors and have enjoyed everything from breakfast and afternoon teas to desserts. I highly recommend a visit!

We visit Lulu's (or the pink bakery) as my daughter calls it about once a month. Staff are always friendly and remember us each time we go back. We've sampled the lemon & blueberry cake- absolutely delicious! My children love the brownies. Coffee is tasty as is the brie toastie. It's a lovely little treat for us. I've also been to a cupcake decorating workshop there which was fantastic and very enjoyable.

Myself and my friend recently visited Lulus for brunch. We both had french toast and a coffee which were incredible. Of course we couldn't leave the cafe without some beautiful baked goods as well. All of the cakes as always made to the highest of standard, they look incredible and taste incredible! Last year I got two birthday cakes for family members and the quality was fantastic. One of the cakes was 100% vegan and I can hands down say it was the best most beautiful vegan cake we have ever had. We have since decided to book our wedding cake with Louise and we cannot wait to see what she creates this time. I always recommend Lulu's to friends and family not just because of how wonderful the cakes are but how wonderful Louise and her staff are. I highly recommend Lulu's for your brunch cravings, birthday treats and everyfay treats!! Xx

Hiya I just wanted to pop a little private message as I visited today. I’ve been following you on Facebook for a while and as I live in cornwall it’s hard to find the time to visit, today was my birthday and I was so excited when my partner suggested coming to Lulus bakery as I’ve been tagging him and showing photos of all the amazing food! It was so busy when we got there which was to be expected but we were able to get a table when people left and it was cleaned amazing! My partner came back with our treats and in the middle of enjoying them we where asked to leave as they needed the table for afternoon tea, so with four young children we sat in the cold and rain whilst the whole cafe was empty for the remainder of our stay, which was not a welcoming amazing experience I was hoping for, I brought some Mother’s Day goodies before leaving as the bakes tasted amazing and looked stunning I couldn’t fault the food at all but I left feeling really rubbish which is why I wanted to let you know in a private message than publicly. Sorry it’s not a shining review I just have to say something about our experience. This was messaged to the Facebook account privately on 9th March but I did not receive a reply it’s now the 15th and they have been actively posting on Facebook. I really wanted to like this place. Even after our experience I did purchase gifts for loved ones.

Opened a little later than advertised (10am vs 9am) and the service quite slow BUT coffee was very high quality, the chocolate cake was dense and delicious and the cheese n ham toastie extremely cheesy and flavourful - evocative of fondue.

Was so disappointed in the cupcakes I bought for my sons birthday, they tasted awful and bad costumer service plus over priced
