Lui's Bar and Kitchen Newcastle in Newcastle upon Tyne

Visited yesterday for the Sunday lunch set menu, we both chose the Chicken Supreme Roast Dinner, which was really nice, lovely buttery mash potato, nice big yorkshire pudding & loads of gravy. Then chose Apple Crumble and Sticky Toffee pudding for dessert, both of which were really nice. Staff were really friendly and checked in regularly to see if we needed anything else. Would definitely return again and would highly recommend a visit. 👍

I would have given 4 1/2 stars if I could have, but 4 stars would have been not enough.

Fantastic find that was recommended on the Newcastle Foodies site on FB. The staff could not have been nicer/friendlier from the initial phone call booking the table to us leaving/falling out the door! We booked bottomless brunch for a celebration and it was a fantastic experience. The cocktails were fabulous and all the food was delicious (lots of small plates) in particular the firecracker chicken, beef slider, chicken Milanese and bruschetta. Daniel who looked after us could not have made our experience anymore enjoyable, he was very friendly and accommodating to four tipsy ladies! Lovely welcoming atmosphere and decor inside, can’t wait to return to enjoy the normal menu. Thank you all for a great time.

Lovely food and great atmosphere, we waited in the bar area for a un booked table to come free we had a 45 minute wait but considering it was the GNR and everywhere was rammed it was i a good find. I had the veal and my wife had carbonara ther was a good selection of lagers on and nice cocktails. it was not overly expensive for the quality of food and the service.

Small, cosy, and welcoming italian restaurant. Staff were great, quick, and attentive, checked on us throughout to ensure we had drinks, etc. Had garlic pizza with Mozzarella, Calamari, and chicken tenders as starters all really nice. For mains, we had a calzone pizza, Romano pizza, chicken dolcelatte, and spaghetti scoglio. All of the mains were hot, tasty, and cooked properly. The portions were a great size as well, even if you have a big appetite, the quality of food will satisfy you.

We visited here during restaurant week and sampled a few dishes as there were 5 of us. The atmosphere was great, the service wasn't bad but unfortunately the vegetables on the Sunday lunch were quite salty. Having said that, the starters were really nice, as were the puddings, so we are assuming that it was a one off. We would like to go back again and give them another try.

Visited whilst staying in Newcastle following a recommendation. All four of us enjoyed both the starters and mains. Service was good and the restaurant was busy with a good atmosphere. Reasonably priced and worth a visit.

Went for the bottomless lunch and we were well looked after by Chris. Highly recomend!! Thanks Chris.

Been here once before and second visit did not fail, mark the manager is very attentive happy to help out when and where possible to make you what you want. Place is spotless staff are all lovely and constantly checked that everything was fine. Food was delicious and worth every penny had an amazing starter and main course and we were so full that we had to share a dessert as we didn’t want to miss out. Not to forget Lovely wine too.

Recommended by a friend, went in restaurant week (twice), would highly recommend. Staff really nice and attentive, food fantastic and atmosphere buzzing.

We were a party of 4, we hadn't booked a table but we were still able to get one, when we were sat down we weren't pressured to order, when we ordered the food it arrived really quickly and all of the dishes were made fresh and were top quality, the pizza is huge and the price for the pizza was not expensive for what you get, all of the servers were polite, friendly and always had us laughing, there was a really nice buzz in the restaurant, the lay out is really good so even though it was busy you were not having to shout over the table to have a conversation. Would recommend Luis to anyone who is thinking of visiting, I was here on a business trip but anytime I am back in Newcastle I will ensure I come back here as everything was faultless, top class service guys keep up the amazing service and food you provide, even the drinks were very well priced

The food is just average and the staff were too busy watching the match instead of serving ppl :)

Been for Sunday lunch, I say one of the best I've tasted, all great tasting ingredients not bland like most restaurants, had the starters which were great, and the main meal beef, tasty and filling, great service, would well recommend this restaurant to anyone, looking forward to going back

Me and my hubby are in Newcastle for the weekend , we visited Luis twice,, the owner and staff are lovely n welcoming,, lovely clean modern restaurant and the food is to Die for !!!! 10/10

Took my daughter here for the lunch time special. We both had the potato skins, which came with garlic and BBQ sauce, very nice. We then both had the Romana pizza, which was huge, so filling. We saw other dinners having fantastic desserts, but we were stuffed. Highly recommended.

Been here about 5 times in the past couple of months and then again yesterday, the potato skins where really hard to eat and had 1 tall glass of water the whole time I was there to the point I had to get my own water bottle out of my bag. Then as we where leaving we asked for the bill and no one brought it over but had bought the bill over for people on other tables with mints for everyone also, yet we’ve never been offered mints anytime we’ve been here. I just felt totally uncomfortable with the service yesterday which is a shame because we used to really enjoy this place for food.

What an absolute experience. Fantastic service, clean, friendly staff. Food was piping hot every course. Beautiful, and we will definitely be coming next time these Hull couple are in Newcastle xx

Very Good service , Food was excellent flavours melted down the pallet. Rib Eye stake is my recommendation it melted down the mouth and was superb with the Diane sauce the flavours dances across the pallet with rhythm and class Home cooked chips was sensational

Wow, amazing experience! Food was delicious. The fire cracker chicken was awesome. Chris (our host) was fabulous, very accommodating, pleasant and so helpful. The service gets an “outstanding” from us. Oh, and the prosecco was good too

We used Luis for our wedding reception recently and were really happy with the experience. Delicious food at a great price. The service was excellent from friendly, helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. There was a lovely atmosphere and ambiance about the place which was copied in the attached cocktail bar. Thank you to all at Luis for a memorable experience. 😊

Great food and service in a good location on the quayside.

Called in for Sunday lunch. Our first here since May 2023, but the quality on each occasion has been excellent. Prawn cocktail and stuffed mushroom starters. Mains of lamb and beef. The meat was superb and the accompanying vegetables and sides equally good. Only one dessert between us of apple crumble. An Italian making traditional British Sunday lunch? They’re absolutely smashing it! Fantastic. Restaurant very busy at 2:00pm but service was speedy and attentive.

Wir waren an einem Samstagabend mit einer Gruppe von 11 Personen in Newcastle unterwegs und das Lui‘s hatte spontan einen so großen Tisch für uns verfügbar. Sehr nett und engagiert im Service, Essen lecker, gute Portionen, alles zu vernünftigen Preisen. Klare Empfehlung!

They appear on Snapsaver, app that I paid subscription for and looks like the restaurant works with the company as away of promoting themselves; they did not adhere to the agreement. I went in and advised them that I was subscribed so that I can get my discount, at first I was told that they didn’t do discount on the day that I appeared which wasn’t true because the app details said otherwise, and I showed them and they told me that you also have to book in advance for the discount, details that were not available anywhere and was just informed about on the spot. Pizza was great though and place is cute!

The staff here are really nice and attentive. The bathrooms are upstairs just as an FYI. We went for lunch and did the two course for £16 which includes the pizza/pasta but not the seafood or calzones. I think overall the food is fine but it is rather pricey. The pizza is a decent size though. The wait was rather long considering how quiet it was but there was a few of us. Not sure I’d go again but I enjoyed it.

Had the good fortune to visit Lui’s Restaurant (twice) over the weekend. First class food served by first class staff in lovely surroundings. Will certainly be going back again when visiting Newcastle again.

As an Italian, it's hard to find somewhere that not only serves veal but cooks it perfectly on the grill. The focaccia was great, the tomato and burrata worked really well. My partner had the duck for her main which was nice and pink. Whenever we come over from Italy, we'll come back for a taste of home. Grazie amico mio

the customer service was great, super friendly and food came out quickly. However, my pasta was a little bit undercooked but overall it was good i would recommend.

Restaurant week is busy everywhere in town, but this didn't impact on the tasty food and lovely staff at Lui's. All 5 of us had a great time, both in the bar and restaurant. Will return.

I went to bottomless brunch with work for my 21st birthday! Food was immaculate and the amount was tremendous! Decorations and atmosphere was amazing! Christine was an absolute pleasure she really made the day very special and ensured we were filled up with drinks and food! She couldn’t of done enough for us and made my birthday really special!

We booked bottomless bunch for 15 people this weekend - for a 21st birthday. The staff went above and beyond, they decorated the table and the room beautifully. There was more than enough food, all delicious and the drinks were flowing! Special thanks to Christine who was amazing throughout! Can’t wait to come back!

All in all a disappointing visit. Had been in touch with the restaurant to book our table a good few weeks before we went. Got a really lovely and friendly reply, we had been before when it was Sabas a few years back. Was really looking forward to going back. When we turned up, the guy at the bar ignored me for what seemed like forever, then finally someone (I can only assume the owner) seated us right at the back (we had our 2 year old). We ordered a lot of food and spent quite a lot of money, but guy who served us was just really unfriendly and the owner just ignored us. Pretty disappointing. Strange atmosphere- can't make up its mind what it is. Is is a restaurant or a bar? Food nothing like it was last time.

Lovely place we had lunch menu plenty to choose from and meals were very nice Did not have any room for a dessert They also do cocktails but decided against them as we still had a bit off walking around to do Dan and his Dad who own the restaurant are the perfect hosts and made us very welcome we will definitely be back Highly recommended this restaurant great find thank you 😋

Loved this place, the food and friendly staff were amazing. The seafood pasta alwas to die for and the steak wash cooked too perfection. Would fully reccomend and return at anytime. On the heart of the tyne food drinks made with passion.

Very impressed by our first visit today. The service was spot on, the food was beautiful. I personally didn't feel posh enough to be in there but both staff were so lovely and very accommodating (especially towards dietary needs). Will definitely be back again

Visited the restaurant for the first time with friends and everything was very nice, staff very friendly my only criticism is that the plates were cold and therefore my meal was cold before I finished.

Well, this is our 2nd visit within 3 weeks and cannot wait for my next one. Our food was amazing, the red wine was a perfect temperature ( sometimes cold in other restaurants in Newcastle). The staff are excellent, especially Christine who is very knowledgeable on the menu and the wine list. The ambiance of Luis is great and we will see you again soon......

Another British-Italian place in Newcastle. Menu is extremely boring, so is the interior. Very cheap due to “Restaurant Week”. The staff was really nice to us but they don’t even know how to pronounce simple Italian words. The pizza dough was raw, ragu was too salty with less pasta than meat. Giving two stars only because of the service. Don’t recommend this place.

Love the new layout of the place, brings a new fresh vibe to the newcastle restaurant scene and the foods not half bad either!

Firstly service was great.. Staff really attentive and polite. However.. Place was freezing cold, us and most of the customers sat with coats and scarfs on, couldn’t wait to get out. Food was mediocre, pizza was undercooked and under seasoned and served cold. Had a calzone that was mostly just sickly cheese. Chips were very greasy. Just a whole unpleasant experience Sat cold eating mediocre food. Used to absolutely love this place when it was sabatinis Looks great but a restaurant is all about the food, and on that note things fell incredibly short. Won’t be returning unfortunately.
