I love this place. Proper drinking pub in a beautiful bit of history. Good beers, knowledgeable staff in great surroundings. I always go here when I go to Newcastle.

The pub itself looks lovely and has a lot of character, but unfortunately, the experience was let down by the extremely rude older barman. I ordered a pint of lager, but he began pouring the wrong one. When I politely corrected him, his response was unnecessarily rude. It's a shame, as the atmosphere had potential, but the service left a very negative impression.

This is my go to bar whenever I visit Newcastle, I love the ceiling and decor. Proper old pub serving great beers. The music is varied and good, there is a recird player on the bar with a load of vinyl..

Brilliant service and the bar man was excellent.

My favourite pub in Newcastle. The interior is a fabulous place with the officers lounge to the front and a long thin seating area to the rear. Great selection of cask and keg beers, and music from a record player behind the bar (if you ask nicely you can play your own records sometimes!). Absolute must for anyone visiting the city and the locals will make you feel welcome!

Paulicarus has long wanted to visit this famous pub. About 20 years ago for my last visit but i had been here a few times before. It sold real ale when Scottish and Newcastle brewery had the North East as a bad fizzy keg beer desert. A very narrow bar with a super interior decor. A small lounge to the left and a long through bar plus the side alley has " outdoor seating." Had a pint of 4.2% best bitter by Full Circle brewery. One of six real ales on handpump. Claims to be the second oldest pub in Newcastle. Instead of a Juke Box they play 33 rpm vinyl. Oddly listening to late 1980's Kylie! Our Lady the Virgin Mary was looking forn somewhere to stay and Posadas / Inns were full! ( hence a stable.) In Wolverhampton we visited " The Posada." Apparently a reason for a festival in South American countries.

The Men's toilets are a disgrace. The amount of mould on the ceiling must be a health hazard.

World famous pub. Excited to be there. Hostility the second we stepped in. From the bartender to the locals who gave us the stink eye. It was such an uncomfortable environment that we left without finishing our beers. Really bad.

A pub full of character and great beers, you will not be disappointed.

Needs no introduction.... Best proper pub in the UK... Steeped in history and authentic character. Only downside is trying to get served due to self-entitled over 50yr old blokes flying their kites, who hang around at the bar and don't have the common courtesy to let you get to the bar to get served "cos they were there first" or are "regulars" or whatever their justification is for being egregious, big fat and useless??? Apart from that - it's great!!? 😃

Historic pub near the Quayside in central Newcastle. Great choice of beers and ales with a cosy atmosphere for people who enjoy chatting and don't want to hear piped music.

Fantastic bar down towards the quayside of town. Good choice of beers and decent wine. Seating not always easy to find but plenty of standing room in this fairly unique bar.

Do love this place back in yesteryear and hope it stays that way although small and narrow always good to squeeze in for a drink or 2 small booth at front and seating further back but lean at the bar and your served asap

Barman poured really poor pints. Didn't taste great and we asked him for a replacement. He refused unless we bought another drink. Would not recommend.

I used to come here a lot when I was at uni in the 80s. So glad that it hasn't changed at all. A totally unspoilt gem of a pub.

This long-established traditional pub is long and narrow. It serves some cracking beers and is a good point of call for anyone who wants to visit a proper pub.

Lovely original old pub, fantastic barman complete with cowboy hat and neckerchief and suitable Kentucky accent. Was especially impressed by the old guy wearing a flat cap, sat at the (very busy) bar on a stool that elbowed a guy (looked like it was quite hard too) squeezing past who could not have avoided touching him, and told him in no uncertain terms what he thought of him. Made my night.

My favourite pub in Newcastle. Beautiful historic building, small which makes for a great atmosphere, excellent beer.

Really special pub! Amazingly cosy interior with some impressive stained glass windows. Really great selection of cask ales, which were very well kept. Saw a good range of kegged beers but could not look past the hand pumps! A must visit when in Newcastle

This really is a great little Pub, I always try and go there when I'm in Newcastle,if you like proper pubs and haven't been here then give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Great pub, plenty of beers, but packed on a Saturday. Be prepared to be squeezed in.

Oh this was SO good. Delightful place, full of character and characters. Superb ales. Well worth a visit if you're in town. Recommended.

Used to be a wonderful experience in here. Not any more. Gone are the days of the record player playing great tunes in the background. Sounds more like a heavy metal concert now with sticky tables and staff who spend more time or their mobiles. Such a shame.

The Crown Posada is rightly known as one of Newcastle's oldest, and best, pubs. It makes the most of its history whilst sensibly ensuring it has a very up to date and fresh beer offering. Enjoy!

Not tried the food but nice selection of beers in a pub that feels like going back 100 years. Full of character.

An old, dark pub which is beautiful inside and well maintained. Cosy and clean, it's well worth lingering in. Great cask beers, well kept with friendly and swift service. Loads of historical pictures on the wall. I'd love to be there when the 40s turntable is in use. A really great place for a beer.

Went to quite a few good pubs in Nrwcastle, but this is the best. Proper boozer with beautiful victorian features and ceiling. And great barstaff.

Not everyone's cup of beer, but I like the place. In at about noon on a Tuesday, happily soaked up the non-atmosphere and enjoyed vinyl rock being played by side of the bar. Yes, I'd certainly go back.

Could get a drink, as bar staff weren't messing about! Cowboy hats, epic! The bar staff deserve a smoke break, as they were super attentive! Only had to wait two minutes, even though it was super busy! I'll spend my money here again.

Spent a wonderful night in there with my colleagues in the RN on a run ashore in my home town. Nights like that don’t leave your memory quickly. Wonderful.

Couldn't get a drink as bar staff were messing about . Cowboy hats ,unlit cigarettes not bothering with customers. Normally love this pub but left as staff were not bothered in serving after 2 minutes of standing in a busy that busy pub. Spend my money elsewhere👍

Really good classic pub. Tiny place but adequate for ones beer needs.

Proper old fashioned boozer, and I mean that in the best way. Steeped in history and regularly have music playing on the old record player. A pleasure to drink in.

An unusually shaped pub but wonderfully preserved Victorian features. It provides a good range of local and regional craft ales. Friendly and welcoming staff.

Can see why this is very famous for being a top real ale pub. Superb atmosphere, very helpful staff and an excellent range of beers in great condition and a good temperature. Glad I stuck to halves. If I lived locally I'd be a regular in here.

It's an old school pub it's been there forever and it's not very big - it seems like they have some standing room in the alley but all in all it's a classic.

I drank in this pub 50 years ago it was old then and it's still old even after renovation it's a great pub only wish the prices had been from 50 years ago!

Best pub in Newcastle by far. The lad behind the counter was a maestro, handling dozens of customers by himself. The selection of beers was spot on, all perfectly poured. Worth coming for the amazing interiors alone.
