Ludorati Café in Nottingham

Very, very rude and unhelpful staff when we came in on Sat 21st September at 1pm. I was shocked and appalled. If I hadn't had a group of new friends, I would have suggested we all walked out and went somewhere else! All 5 of us noticed the miserable treatment of customers and general rudeness. It was expensive to play for the day and an unfriendly atmosphere. Woman serving got my drink order wrong and didn't apologise. Instead, was rude for no reason. Despite paying for drinks and playing the games, the staff there seem to think it's a school where they can talk to you like you are children and not paying customers. We got told off for moving a table! The 35p electricity charge is farcical. Will never return!! All in all, over the course of the time we were there, this place got probably around £80-100 out of the 5 of us. We will be sure to give that to a nice friendly pub next time. Shame on you, could have been a nice memorable experience where we would have returned but never again!

Came here on a Sunday afternoon. Good ambiance and a solid selection of games. Very pleasantly surprised by the chocolate cake and pizza (which was made to order!) but the cookies and cream shake was somewhat bland and disappointing. A free membership gives you 10% off everything at the cafe.

A great board game cafe. The game selection is pretty good, the organised rpg sessions are amazing, and the food is pretty good at a reasonable price. Would really recommend!

Really great games cafe. Super range of food and games. The staff are kind and extremely friendly. Accessible via an entrance ramp for disabled people using a chair.

A friendly atmosphere and perfect place to meet up with friends for casual table top gaming, they have i wide range of food and drink at a reasonable price.

Really nice place, they had some an amazing milkshakes on offer and make fresh pizzas on site. Food was delicious, my milkshake took quite a while but think that’s as they were busy. Fantastic selection of games and great vibe. The only thing that could have improved the experience would be if there were more staff on hand to advise on game options but they were all tied up seating/serving.

What a great way to spend a rainy afternoon! Nice cafe food, great staff and awesome games! We played snake and got into a right argument in every round! Hilarious! If you come to Ludorati and don't enjoy yourself, you've brought the wrong company!

Positive points: Really impressed with the range of boardgames and the food quality they were in. Stayed for a couple hours on a Tuesday afternoon and played two games but we were spoilt for choice! The pizzas were really good and the range of drinks was good too. Negative points: Toilets were really grotty and the place was dusty and not very inviting from the front. Inside it's a bit corporate feeling and not very welcoming. Reserving the table involved downloading two different apps which is a lot of effort and might put some people off. The negative points definitely could be fixed easily by management. Don't let these put you off going though, all in all we enjoyed ourselves and would return.

I came away from here really disappointed. From a poor selection of two player games to some indifferent service by a member of staff who looked like they wanted to be anywhere else, and to our food orders being incorrect, I struggled to find many positives. The layout is fine and it’s quite spacious which was a plus I guess. We were told many times that it was closing at 10pm instead of 10.30pm (on a Saturday??) and that the toilets would be closed at 9.30pm which I have never come across before, and is disrespectful to those paying to be there in my opinion. It’s also one of the most expensive board game cafe’s I’ve been to, which boggled my mind as everything was worse. Food/drinks were poor too. What on earth was I paying for?

The place is lovely with a great selection of games, the staff however seemed like they really didn’t want to be there and came across quite blunt.

Visited on Saturday 20th Jan and we were really impressed - particularly with the two people serving who did an exceptional job while being very very busy! I didn't catch their names, but they definitely deserve a well done for their efforts! The cafe was clean and tidy, drinks were nice and cakes were delicious. Would definitely stop by again if in Nottingham in the future.

Lovely place, staff were super friendly. Had a panini which was lovely, and nice drinks. Then the games...gosh the games! Brilliant selection and amazing to just be able to sit and play whatever you fancy. Highly recommend, I'll definitely be back.

Have been going here for years, and always loved it. They have beers, coffees & teas, milkshakes- for whatever your gaming session vibe is. Yesterday, we just got some food & drink and sat in the free-to-play area; only a few classic games to select from here, but we had fun playing Scrabble, and enjoyed our toasted sandwiches and a good chat.

Lovely cafe , games and meeting place. The reason Ludorati only gets 4 stars is they never give you a teaspoon . Why on earth not? I want to scoop up the froth from my delicious cappuccino.

Ludorati is a lovely board game cafe. You pay for the table per hour at a very fair price, with access to an extensive collection of board games. Staff are friendly and helpful with any queries. There is also a great selection of cakes and drinks.

Great cafe to kick back with a game. I had a smoothie which was good level, friends had pizza which was nice. Only negative feedback would be that our scrabble dictionary that came as part of the set ended with O so we couldn't verify any words later in the alphabet. Came here to play chess and we had a good time. The prices are okay but it is a bit of a bummer that you need to pay per hour in order to access the main space.

Love Ludorati but there is a step down when you come in and the layout is not disability friendly...

I've been here repeatedly and love it. I went with my partner on my last visit here, and we played a few games and had a pizza each. The food was nice and the games were fun. They literally have a wall of games. Some obscure, some popular. We played Wingspan. I hadn't played Wingspan before and asked if there was somebody who could give us a tutorial. They did not, but they may be looking for another gamesmaster. Finally, for the hours we were there, the price was reasonable. We paid £10 for the both of us for the time we were there. Well worth a visit.

Friendly staff, very loud and as someone who is neurodivergant I would not recommend this play, very busy atmosphere. Also cost £50 for 3 hours there, we got a pizza, one lemonade and a cake. It's very expensive for a place to play board games when you can go elsewhere for free or less cost.

Nice place to chill with family and friends. Have been told more than 25mins will charge for another hour, but it’s 10mins when it come to check out. We was so fun and it got ruined.

A good-sized boardgaming café. Unfortunately, it feels like it's struggling as the games for sale are very limited and lacking smaller cheaper games. Also, the games to play selection is big, but there are a lot of old dated games and tatty games. They need to bring in more modern and better games to replace some of the junk. Particularly difficult to find good 2 player games, we wasted a lot of time searching for games to play. Food and drink is good.

The Chai Latte was delicious! We were really happy to find a cafe that stays open until 10:30 pm. There are basic games available even for people who don't want to pay extra for the board game experience.

Booked a table earlier in the week for a Friday night, to be told when we arrived that they didn't have our booking and there was a private party on. They didn't apologise and weren't in the least bit interested that they'd ruined a carefully coordinated night out despite showing the confirmation emails. Went to the Dice Cup Café across the city instead, who were very accommodating and friendly. Would not visit Ludorati again.

Was in on Sunday and an older male member of staff was raising his voice very aggressively at a younger female member of staff. Made me really uneasy and concerned about the safeguarding at the cafe. Hope it is resolved soon.

Celebrated my son's 46th birthday at Ludorati Cafe - Jono Taf Levens - 4 of us played 'Ticket to Ride' in Germany twice and we all really enjoyed ourselves. The pizzas were the best ever! Thank you!

Great atmosphere to play board games, good good and a good selection of games

First visit to the games cafe and loved the whole experience. Fantastic selection of games for all the family. Table service is a bit slow but it was a really busy day with lots of bookings and did not cause an issue. Ordered 3 pizzas for the family to share and as there is only one pizza oven it did take a while but we were advised at the time of booking so no problem. Good selection of hot, cold, alcoholic and milkshake drinks available. We had a large booking and all enjoyed it. Will definitely recommend and go again.

The staff were very friendly and the price per person was very good. Food and drinks tasted very good and came out very quickly. Definitely recommend if you are considering it. From personal experience around simial area's in nottingham, this one is the best. Can't wait to return

Unfortunately didn't have a great experience here. We've been to lots of board game cafés and were really looking forward to this one. Positives: -a great selection of games - so many! -layout was nice -ice cream shakes were great Negatives: - the main negative for us was the service. There was no one around to talk about the games or give us any recommendations, which is common in board game cafes. The one girl we saw wasn't particularly friendly. No one came to collect our empty glasses or plates (the whole 2 hours we were there) which meant we had them on a small table while trying to play games. In the end we took them back to the counter. No one cleared up any of the dirty tables around us, there were plates and glasses everywhere. - the toilets were disgusting (sanitary bins overflowing, water all over the floor, they smelt) -the food was very expensive for what it was and the pizzas were not very nice. Not cooked properly. We should have known not to order them seeing as the table next to us had barely eaten any of their pizzas! - games not organised very well - there was no reference system. For people who don't know much about board games, it could definitely be overwhelming. There were just too many games without any direction of which ones to play or any suggestions. Overall, we were disappointed with this board game café and won't be returning.

An eclectic clientele and quietly buzzing atmosphere make this place a pleasure to visit. Very reasonable hire rates for board games (more traditional ones are free) and great value pizzas (a tenner gets you a huge, light, Italian-style base loaded with toppings) Staff are very friendly.

As an American, I was visiting a friend in Nottingham, and we had a rainy day to fill. He suggested checking out the cafe, and when we sat down they explained the table rental period caps out at 4 hours. We laughed, there was no way we would be there that long! 6 hours later we left after our third game. The shop is clean and well organized with an open cafe, and the game selection is frankly amazing. From very old titles to new ones, well maintained, alphabetized, and across the spectrum of game times. Too often places that offer games with food have like... the dregs of the owners collection, plus like maybe 10 popular ones (Catan, Ticket to Ride, Small World, etc). The bits are mistreated, the boxes hard used, and no variety past whomsoever's taste that set things up. They do charge more for premium games - but if you consider how many pieces so big box games have - to do a checkover to confirm things are not missing is time consuming. I wish this was not 7 hours flight from home! Absolutely go visit.

A great setup and accessible location. We went for a break the game evening through eventbrite this was a fun experience we wasn't sure on the set and organisation but as it was free why not! I would definitely recommend going and letting your inner board game nerd out. Food offerings looked good especially the pizzas.

I had not been to Ludorati in years (stupid virus), but within minutes it was like I had never left. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the selection of games is top notch!

First time visiting, such a good experience. Staff are super attentive and willing to help with the boardgames. Entry is free, and the food/drink service is great. I had the Coco Loco smoothie, so tasty! Will definitely be visiting again for a good gaming session. They also do Dungeons and Dragons!

I'm a regular to the tuesday socials, its. a nice atmosphere, friendly staff and a nice ambience. The food is good, although they no longer seem to do the sausage rolls which is a shame. They have a solid selection of games, but I often end up bringing my own to the socials because that's my preference a lot of the time and not a criticism of their collection. It can be rather noisy at times, but that's just a sign that its doing well.

Never been to a board game cafe before but this was a great experience all round! Great selection of games for all tastes, AMAZING pizza and good selection of drinks.

Best boardgame place I've been to really fair price for people who want long sessions

There aren't enough words to describe how much we loved our first visit today. The atmosphere and staff are absolutely lovely and very welcoming. The layout is clear and spacious. The selection of games is insanely generous. The price of sitting at a table is very reasonable but the food and drinks aren't cheap. That said, given all of the perks from eating and drinking in such fantastic surroundings, it is so very much worth it! We will be back. A lot!

as a student who works during the day, I struggle to find somewhere that allows me to study and then relax with friends. the staff here are so lovely and accommodating, especially India and Matt with the latte art! will certainly come back here!

Great milkshakes - I had an Oreo one and asked for an espresso shot and it was incredible! Only issue was we all paid (group of about 13) but then the last two people in our group were held up by waiters saying 2 people were yet to pay, and they charged them an extra 2 peoples worth. We definitely all paid and had reciepts to prove it so it's a shame, and was a shame how the staff dealt with the situation by why our friends said.

Really really cute place, staff are informative and friendly, didn't make me feel out of place at all. They have easy systems to follow, can even have a tab open until your done with your time and pay at the end. They have a wide array of board games to play, cute for dates or bigger gaming sessions with your friends. Really looking forward to going back 🤩

The best game cafe in Nottingham

I'm not usually a fan of board games as I get bored quite easily but I really enjoyed my visit on a rainy afternoon. We played two games and I actually really enjoyed it. We also shared a pizza and had some lovely ice cream milkshakes. The games were in excellent condition and the venue was tidy and clean. Will be back again soon! We played Lost Cities and Fifth Avenue.

Been wanting to visit a board game cafe for a while with my partner and daughter. Having driven past Ludorati many time we decided to take the plunge and it was worth it, absolutely brilliant place. It was modern, spacious and had a great selection of games. We decided on the game of life and had such a great time. The staff were really nice and helpful and the milkshakes were first class. Great to spend the afternoon as a family.

Quite a unique experience. Some board games such as chess are free to play while you order coffee.

Good cafe, reasonable prices. Free wifi for guests. Large game selection, some games may be missing components or rule books. I had the hot chocolate and it was tasty. My wife had an ape pastry with ice cream and she liked it alot. We played Tsuro and loved the game. We were overwhelemed and lost at the end in The Captain Is Dead. We enjoyed playing Lanterns, creating a fun image. Seating is comfortable, table are a little cramped if you get coffee or dessert. Bathrooms are clean. Staff are nice. Will come back when we come back to nottingham.

Been coming to this Cafe for a few years now, felt welcome from day 1, service has always been top class for food and drinks and the people there are always interested in what you might want to play to get the most out of your time. This is a lovely cafe in Nottingham, and I love the idea of being able to borrow (or rent) a boardgame to play here. Alas, we did not have time to try that side of things out during our visit, but I did find a copy of a game that I thought was out-of-print at a very reasonable price. The staff here were really friendly and helpful and the coffee and snacks that we had were really nice. Definitely give this place a try if you are in town.

This place is fantastic! Such a relaxing atmosphere and the staff that work there are extremely welcoming and lovely. It also has a HUGE selection of board games to choose from. I'd recommend Ludorati to anyone :)

The barristas and the server were very polite and enthusiastic. It was my first time visiting a board game cafe and this was a fantastic experience beginning to end. The prices are all very reasonable, especially the hourly rate for a table to play games. The selection of games is brilliant, and the food and drinks were great also. I was actually there on a first date, and I can definitely see us returning again. (Infact in looking forward to it, thanks to everyone working there)

Ludorati Cafe is a lovely place to spend time with friends playing games you've not heard of before. Coffee and cake was also great, nothing more you need to relax and have fun in a friendly atmosphere.

Easy to book, had a great time. And the refreshments on offer were fantastic.

We went the for the first time today for a tea to realise it has two board game rooms: one free one with fee. We only tried two hebal teas (serves Teapigs) and we were happy about the quality and location.

We had a great time here. It is air-conditioned and clean with tasty food and drinks. The stock of games to borrow is impressive. They have a quarantine area for the games after they have been used. We had a lot of fun trying out a new game and will be back. Only note is that while there was a drinks menu available on the table, it would be nice to have a food menu to browse through aswell. Highly recommend.
