The best Asian food that I’ve event eaten in my life. Seriously. The combination of ingredients with salt and cooking was amazing. Bravi!

Underwhelming and overpriced. I’m glad a lot of other people had such positive experiences and it’s clear someone is doing an impeccable job in the kitchen - the meat was cooked to perfection and the homemade soda was delightful. But overall the dishes were not that great. I got three meat dishes and a salad but for such beautifully cooked pieces the meat was doused in too much sauce. It really took away from it something awful. Similarly the fried chicken felt very underseasoned. I ordered a cucumber carrot and courgette salad - even asked the waitress about the courgettes but the dish I got was just cucumber and a few strings of carrot and for some reason radish (?) it was okay in flavour but honestly not at all what I ordered. I think it wouldn’t have bothered me as much if the whole experience wasn’t so meh. Overall come in to get the soda 10/10. Did not have cocktails so cannot comment but the menu looked enticing. The restaurant does recommend 3-4 plates per person and I think you won’t come away hungry if you follow this guideline. I’m just miffed at how much I paid for such a subpar experience.

This was the BEST food we had in Edinburgh hands down. The service was great, everyone was lovely. And the food was just insanely good. We came across this place by chance but did not regret it. I would say, if you want to try it, book a place to make sure you have a seat We had the fried chicken, the cauliflower bao bun, the dirty rice (x2) and the crispy potatoes - 5 plates was fine for two of us. All of them were pretty good

Food was mostly good (except one aubergine dish we had to send back as it was undercooked but they did apologise and not charge for it). Dirty rice probably our favourite dish. Service fine and efficient but more cool than friendly.

Everything was perfect, great service, we tried the whole menu and everything was excellent, can highly recommend it🙌🏼🤩

Food was spectacular and arrived once the individual dishes were ready. Staff were attentive, personable and knowledgeable about the menu. Service was relaxed and every staff member took time for each table. Will definitely be back.

Our first night in Edinburgh we had dinner at Lucky Yu, and wow! Each dish was surprising, complex, and delectable. The restaurant itself is casual but buzzing, with tables close to one another and a constant hum of activity from the kitchen. We tried two larger dishes lots of small plates, and our favorite was the dirty rice - the flavors and textures were wild! We were a little tired from travel, and had been snacking along the way, so we ordered only 4 or 5 dishes total - I would definitely had ordered a few more on a more typical night! Great staff, too!!

I didn't take any pictures.. but the plates look good, you need a plate 2-3 per personp.. I didn't feel any Asian cuisine or flavors.. it's worth taking a look and judging for yourself..

I tried Ramen here and it’s not bad.

The portions were very good size and the food was really really tasty! If we would have stayed there we would out 5 stars, but the disappointment was from the desserts, we got the chocolate one and the sweet bean boa; neither were anywhere as good as the food. The other thing that was a bit a let down is that they don’t provide hot drinks, so no tea or coffee.

Beautiful really well laid out restaurant. Amazing selection of food that tasted great, drinks were spot on. The staff were friendly and attentive. Definitely going back to try more since they give you a luck yu scratch card and we've got a free bao bun to get. I also needed to try the desserts, but I didn't have enough time on the last visit.

Another little gem of a place in Edinburgh. Very friendly staff and great food/service. The place was pretty full too on a wet Thursday night which is a good sign.

Absolutely loved this place. Small menu (which made ordering easier) and every dish was spot on. Personal favourites were the karaage fried chicken, duck bao bun and potatoes !

I’m known to be a bit dramatic. But I promise, this place is unbelievable. The Soul Thai cocktail was the best cocktail of my life and the food was refined and complex with depth of flavor. We ordered almost everything on the menu by the end and everything slapped. I opted to get a second bao bun in lieu of dessert.

Hones really decent food, the veggie list smaller than the meat one but it’s all hits. The potatoes specifically, beautiful.

All of the food was fantastic, full of flavour. The drinks selection was also excellent, with some really unusual but delicious options! The service and atmosphere was faultless, can't wait to come back!

Good portion sizes and nice flavour. The beef short rib and crispy potatoes stole the show out of all the dishes ordered.

the food is tasty, very similar flavours across most dishes, some lacking balance. the service on our visit was lacklustre and not that welcoming and engaging. we have visited a few times since it first opened and probably wouldn’t go again after today.

Totally agree with Jay Rayners’s review in the Guardian. Loads of fabulous small plates. The “dirty rice” in particular was superb.

An interesting menu with lots of different and unusual choices. I enjoyed what I had but found it a bit pricey for what it was - £27 for 3 small dishes and no drinks, which considering I was in and out within 40 mins (dining alone) felt a bit steep. Nice enough but I doubt I'll go back.

Incredible food and service! The menu recommends 3-4 dishes per person but that is definitely the top end, 2-3 per person would be more than enough. Great for sharing, everything was absolutely delicious. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere was lovely, highly recommend.

Second time at Lucky Yu, fantastic restaurant the food is sublime, we had the Lucky dip taster adding in some short rib. Cauliflower Bao was out of this world, trout amazing, short rib gorgeous just all fantastic. Service was great too!

Great meal, lovely service, cured trout and filled prawn cracker special were particular highlights.

We were a birthday party of 6 with different dietary requirements. The food and service were excellent and we had a great time. We definitely recommend it.

Great food and atmosphere. Good portion sizes for being small plates. The potatoes and short rib, fried chicken, dirty rice and vegetable Gyoza all very good. The lamb special was a cut above though. We will definitely be back.

The food was absolutely delicious and fresh, with flavours that burst in your mouth. The customer service was exceptional — kind, attentive, and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this place for any occasion!

Had a nice meal here and thought the food was very nice but not exceptional. As a few other reviews have mentioned the prices are a bit steep for what you get. The recommended amount is three to four dishes per person, but even each of the vegetarian dishes are around £9 and pretty small (e.g one cauliflower bao bun for £8.50). Between two we got seven vegetarian plates, two cocktails and two sakes and it came to £100 with service. Some of the food was excellent - the gyoza stood out, and all the rest was good. Service was great and it's a cool space. Was generally a bit underwhelmed though, considering the price.

This was my second visit to Lucky You and it was enjoyable but again one friend who suffers from migraines couldn't come because of the neon lighting.

The food was pretty good, although the aubergine wasn’t to my taste. It is pricey but the atmosphere is unusual and fun to be in. Didn’t find the service great, not that friendly and didn’t ask us if we wanted to tip just charged us a tip anyway which I think is poor practice.

The vibe was really cool. The service was a little slow, they were busy as it was Friday night. Some of the dishes were quite salty, quite small portions for what you pay. The Gyoza, vermicelli and cured trout were excellent.

What a lucky find this was! A great little restaurant. Really helpful, friendly staff. We were worried the 'small plates' wouldn't be enough but the portion sizes were perfect. It made for a special evening.

Had a lovely time here. It was my birthday (I cheekily wrote this on the booking) but they were so kind as to bring over some bubbly for my boyfriend and I. I didn't expect this and was such a lovely touch. Thank you very much. The restaurant itself is very cosy and the food was great. The QI cocktail I had was loooovely too. Service was also on point. Would love to bring friends back :)

We went for dinner last night and the food was great! Everything was super tasty and we felt we ordered enough. The beef short rib & aubergine plates were our fave. Lots to offer and great selection of drinks, in particular cocktails. Would recommend!!

We absolutely loved our visit to Lucky Yu. The food was fresh with really vibrant flavours, and we thought it was pretty good value for money. The menu recommends 3-4 dishes per person, but we found 3 dishes each was plenty! They have a short but tasty drinks menu, with a selection of cocktails, beers and wines. The service and atmostphere were also great. We will definitely be back!

Small but interesting dishes and surprisingly filling. The lobster bisque special was 👌. And a super friendly waitress who couldn't be faulted. Recommended!

Very nice place but too expensive for what it is. The sound level is just insane, especially if like me you suffer from sensory overload. We swallowed our meal as fast as we could so as to escape the noise - too bad for me, as it was my birthday!

Nice restaurant with Asian-inspired cuisine. Quality products, available and smiling servers, original cocktail menu. Great. The only criticism I can make is on the ambient sound volume. This evening the customers did not choose to speak but to scream!! Too bad because it’s a very, very nice address.

Fantastic food, cocktails and service! The menu is quite small but everything is delicious. Please bring back the gochujang cauliflower dish, it was to die for! I haven't been able to find it anywhere else...

Food was either dead salty, covered with sticky sauce or over fried with a hard crust. "Asian fusion" seems to be a warning sign for such culinary experience in the UK in general. Our server said the dishes would come out from the kitchen quick, so we decided to order 6 dishes to share among us 3 first, thinking we would order another around to pace ourselves better; but the second round would never be necessary. We drank a lot of water to cleanse our palette after each bite. Unhealthy level of sodium intake, not even for once-in-a-while consumption, not worth a guilty meal anyway. Prices on the high side; low value for money.

Very tasty food, great atmosphere, just a shame that you only get 1.5 hours for a booking - wasn’t enough time for us, we felt a bit hurried.

Decent quality food and very reasonably priced. Service very friendly and quick, nice atmosphere although a bit noisy. Warning - menu says you need 3-4 dishes per person. You don’t if you are ordering chicken Kara-age or dirty rice - each of those big enough for 2. We ordered 3 chicken portions for 3 of us and took almost 2 portions home!

Food was great, especially the aubergine but it’s a bit pricey. They offer mainly two small cubes of meat for a high price, and the drinks are quite small too, especially the “margarita”. Besides that, the service was great and the place is also quite nice.

Had a lovely meal this afternoon arrived around 5.30pm we were lucky as we hadn't booked but we decided to try without booking, we got a table, staff were lovely, portion sizes are bigger than expected for sharing plates tapas style, would recommend.😊

Food was good and service generally good apart from the male waiter with the beard behind the bar who was rather obnoxious and seemed keen to make a point rather than being friendly.

We had our work team Christmas lunch here. The set menu was delicious and original, and there was plenty of food to go around. The ambience at the venue was intimate, cosy and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and attentive. This was my first time at this restaurant but I'd love to go back.

Really great restaurant with a good atmosphere. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was great. I did find the music slightly too loud though, there was a few times I could not hear others talking.

We had a work night out for dinner, so most of the pre planning was already done. On arrival we waited outside as we arrived a little earlier and there was not enough room inside. The team was very attentive and friendly. It was very dark, certainly for me as I struggle with reading in low light, so found it hard to read their menus. The drinks order was taken and served promptly. The food order was then also taken and served promptly. Over all a nice evening and nice food, however it was hard to actually see the food we were eating. We were in a private space at the back, and the main entrance did seem a little better with lights etc. I would go back and recommend it as a local restaurant to others. Thank you
