Great food, hotpot was delicious and refills kept coming. Well worth £26 a head. Amazing friendly service and very comfy atmosphere.

We had a lovely relaxed meal. Food was delicious, service was attentive, and atmosphere pretty relaxed, which suited us well.

I really recommend eating here! We ate in the restaurant for a family member’s birthday and the workers were incredibly friendly and happily explained the rules of the hotpot and how to order it as it was our first time having hotpot. The environment and atmosphere made by the workers was homely and comfortable and the food was fantastic, I adored the satay soup base and the portions they would give you were very good, considering it was also bottomless it was amazing.

Im asian and i know the taste of the best hotpot, and i guarantee you, this is one of the best, the soup base of tom yum and chinese mushrooms are great! We tried the unli hotpot and it is worth the money. Surely you will never regret eating here.. service is great as well! Kudos!

We were the first people in on a Saturday. The Waitress was friendly and helpful and made us welcome. The food was great and the modern feel to the restaurant was a bit sparse for me but still lovely. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the HotPot which looked great. Thank you.

Went around looking for dimsums and stumbled here. It's value for money and the chilly oil was fab but the dimsums needs to be more flavourful. Some spices and maybe coriander in it. The owners are super kind people.

It always feel warm to eat the food here. I've been here for 3 times. Highly reccommend noodles and brisket mapo tofu. I saw many people eat the hotpot as well and it looks amazing.

The hot pot was absolutely amazing! It was really good value and the food was very authentic. The staffs are very welcoming and helpful. We really enjoyed our experience and look forward to coming back for hot pot again!

We came here on Friday after work and had a fantastic meal. The food was delicious and authentic, and the service was great. We didn’t have to wait for anything too long and the staff were very helpful and welcoming. Loved it! We’re definitely coming here again.

Absolutely amazing! We had all you can eat hotpot and it was incredible. Reasonably priced, fantastic service and great location! Would recommend and will go back!

Jo looked after us with extra attentiveness and care, making sure we had a good time. Group ordered: seaweed, sweetcorn soup, chicken fried rice, sizzling seafood. All got eaten and we also got free prawn crackers and melon slices offered to us.

Tried hot pot for the first time here, was a nice experience, all you can eat in 2 hours & we were stuffed, lots of different ingredients to choose from aswell as soup bases & sauces. Have made plans to go again. More of a coffee shop decor & atmosphere rather than a restaurant but the food & service were very good.

Worse takeaway ever, all the food was cold, despite having to go there to pay before they agreed to cook it, duck looked like mincemeat, all bland and tasteless, expensive rip off, very disappointing!!

Three of us decided to call in after a couple of beers on Sunday evening. The windows were steamed up and, on entering, found the place to be pretty crowded, mostly with what appeared to be Chinese clientele. The decor is nothing to write home about but the food was fine. The menu is sectioned in to what could be described as 'English' Chinese and home-cooked Chinese. My companions chose a spicy battered chicken dish and I opted for the prawn with egg, cucumber and black fungus. This was accompanied by egg-fried rice and brocolli in a garlic sauce...washed down with some Tsingtao beer. The staff were friendly and efficient and the food arrived quickly, piping hot and in generous proportions. In fact, doggy bags were required. The popular dish seemed to be the hotpot which I should be tempted to try on another occasion. All in all a very satisfying visit at a very reasonable price.

We were staying in an apartment nearby and were not disappointed. Ordered crispy duck and pork dish. Delivered on time and food was very tasty. Would try eating in next time visiting Brighton.

Been here a lot it’s very hit and miss sometimes really nice but sometimes cold, depending on when you order can take 2+ hours to deliver but again sometimes can we quicker. Most of the time the food is good.

Is over priced for just stir fry noodle vegetables 9 pound and few vegetables it look like starter plate still hungry never again

Fantastic evening at Lucky Star. We made a last minute booking for a large group and they were very lovely and accommodating. Food was delicious, staff were very attentive and ensured we had a great dinner. Thank you guys can’t wait to visit again!

I have tried other hotpots in brighton but this is by far the best! So many options for such a great price. The staff were so helpful, friendly & amazing. I will be back here so many times!

Called at lunchtime for a booking on a Friday night for a total of 9 people. Food was delicious, a hidden gem with great friendly staff. Highly recommend and if we come back to Brighton we will be back here for the food that’s for sure.

As usual, best chinese restaurant in Brighton. The food is always great, big portions and good prices ,although the place is very small so just a few people can be served at the same time. Get the hot pot if you love chinese food!

If you have never tried hotpot before and you live in Brighton, I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. At £24 per head, you have the option of picking two broth flavours as well as unlimited choices when it comes to meat, seafood and vegetables. I went with a relative and ordered beef and lamb slices as well as squid, pak choi and mushrooms among other items. In addition, a range of condiments and sauces are provided and you also get to pick one free item per table to share. Besides the hotpot, this restaurant offers the usual Chinese fare and the service is very helpful which I think is quite rare from other Chinese restaurants I've been to in the past.

AMAZING food, I had the udon stir fry with pulled pork. Extremely tasty and good quality. They have great lunch deals with a wide variety of options to choose from.

Fried udon with shredded pork was AMAZING. Came hot, great flavour and tasted fresh. The staff is nice, vibe is great, only complain is that toilets seem a bit dirty.

A must go place to eat Authentic Chinese cuisine. It's not like your normal Chinese restaurant which have westernised dishes. This establishment serve dishes you will only find in China. Ask for the other menu and you will find hot pot dishes, choosing what types of broth, meats and vegetables you want to say to the broth. At £24 each and the minimum of two people to order, it's one of the best dishes too have. So refreshing and light.

This place is alway packed . Why? I think for the big bowl (hot-pot) dishes . We ate here. Food ok I am not keen to on those slimy strips of chicken in meals, much prefer proper chicken. Service very good. The owner rushes around like a headless🐔. Bottled lagers well over priced for a small gaff. All in all ok. Worth a try . Not sure if its a regular for me .

This is the worst experience I have ever had in eating out in Chinese restaurants. We are the only customer going to the restaurant initially and the owner or staff who is a Chinese guy seems unhappy from the beginning. He just gave us some paper to write the order from Menus which were all written in Mandarin & my friend wrote what we want to order after a few minutes . However,the staff seemed not willing to take order at all from us. After that, there are 4/5 groups of customers came & the staff took orders from them. Although I waved at him for our menu & he saw it, he pretended he was busy. After waiting for nearly 15 -20 min, the staff guy acted he was still busy & not coming to us although he served nearby tables. I can't understand why he behaved that manner to customers who came far to eat in their place. Anyway, we left this restaurant after getting very rude & unwelcome behaviours. It is my 1st time writing a bad review for a restaurant but they deserved this . I wish I could give "0" star if I can choose .

Had a great time sharing a hot-pot with the family weekend before Xmas. Been before and staff are consistently friendly, always going out of their way to ensure your Lucky Star experience is fun and delicious, thank you again and can't wait to for our next trip to Brighton!

I love the food here. My favourite is the sweet and sour pork. It's so crispy and delicious. The food feels more authentic than typical Asian restaurants and they have an awesome menu filled with so many great options to suit anyones tastes.

Ended here because everything else was busy and I’m very satisfied! The staff is very friendly and the food delicious. If I’m without reservation on a Saturday night in Bristol again I’m sure I’ll come back

They have a wide selection of chinese dishes. - The spicy beef noodle soup was so good, the soft beef with spices, sichuan pepper hits just right! - The seafood noodle soup was also a hit, the broth was fragrant and flavourful. - The pork jiaozi (dumplings) was a nice side, very soupy and flavourful. - The starters- spare ribs and spring rolls were solid, wasn’t blown away but tasted good. The owners/ staff are very friendly and nice too! 5 stars for overall experience! definitely recommend this for all chinese cuisine enthusiasts.

Had a lovely time at Lucky star with the family, enjoying the Chinese hotpot. Sat for hours with amazing food, company and service. A big thanks to our waiter Joe who explained everything and looked after us, no rushing and amazing hospitality! And compliments to Wong the chef, will defo be back and highly recommend ❤️

Food very expensive for what you get nearly £4 for a small pot of sauce! Outrageous and doesn’t taste nice at all the worst £35 ever spent sorry to leave this but I really didn’t enjoy one bit.

I have had very mixed experiences and always had to pay more than the menu which seems permanently out of date. The other menu, in Chinese, is I suspect really good because there are always loads of people eating dishes not in the regular menu.

Visited for lunch today hoping for a quick turnaround as I only get an hour for lunch. Waited 35 mins and eventually asked for it as a takeaway. Whilst I was waiting in the restaurant a number of Chinese people came in and were served with in about 10mins. Very poor customer service and will not be visiting again, as should be being served on a first come first service basis.

Staff were so friendly and welcoming. The food was ✨delicious✨ - we got the veggie dumplings, veggie spring rolls, beef and black bean and bean curd Kung Pao (with nuts) and everything was cooked to perfection. Complementary prawn crackers and quick service. Bring cash for a tip 🥰 would also recommend booking a table - it’s always busy

Just ordered more them £55 pounds in food and unfortunately the food was not up to standard. High price for portion size, poor flavour, food missing ( prawn crackers) and the drink was warm ( coca cola). Very disappointed this time

Passed by here many times & always noted how full it was. So just before Christmas, my partner & I dropped in for an early evening bite. Oh my… everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. It was without out doubt, the best Chinese food I’ve had in a very long time. I’ll definitely be going back soon & have been recommending it to everyone already.

Really bad dining experience from start to finish! Unorganised and left us waiting for a table for ages without properly acknowledging us. Eventually we were sat and it took a long time to be served. They forgot to bring out drinks- a tea and a beer- no sorry when it eventually came. We were in the restaurant for an awfully long amount of time, and would’ve left without eating if we didn’t keep getting told it would be 5 minutes. We were out for my partner’s birthday, so didn’t want to throw the towel in on a Saturday night and find nowhere else to eat. Starters took 40 minutes after ordering, “spare ribs” and soup. The ribs were bite size bits of battered rib, with the bones in, and many pieces were literally deep fried bone. It was another hour until mains came out, and were bought out one thing at a time over about 20 minutes. If we weren’t starving, I would’ve left. No apologies, no understanding of our frustration. Similarly, many other tables waited very long times too, still no sorries. Horrid food, awful staff and overall a hugely disappointing experience. Would give 0 stars if I could.

This place has gone down hill.. used to be decent but for whatever reasons the standards have dropped in all areas. ordered 2 mains and after an hour and a half, only one arrived. Payed for the whole order but refused to bring extra main without additional payment. I expected a complimentary starter and an apology for the mistake but no acknowledgement to the mistake was made. By the time we opened the food we were greeted greasy noodles and my girlfriend actually pulled out a long hair inside the rice!! Will never order here again. No wonder the hygiene standards have dropped to a 1.00

I went to this restaurant, the food is extremely terrible soaking in oil, the chairs are very uncomfortable and cold, it feels like we're sitting on cans, the toilet are Very dirty and disgusting, much worse than public toilets. the staff didn't answer anything clearly.

1.5 hours to deliver. Order wrong. Would not correct even though they admitted fault. Avoid avoid avoid. Terrible customer service.

This is my favourite Chinese restaurant in Brighton and is not to be confused with the other Lucky Star in Hove. The food here is slightly skewed towards Sichuanese cuisine but they do the classics as well. Everything on the menu is amazing and there are lots of vegetarian options. The portions are astounding and the value is unbeatable. It feels like a real family establishment with people who enjoy working there and know the food well enough to give you suggestions that never disappoint. The atmosphere is always cozy and casual, especially in winter when there are lots of Chinese students chatting over hotpots. I missed this place so much during lockdown and it's been lovely to go back. Suggested dishes: - Any of the dumplings - Braised Aubergine with Pork - Green Beans with Fried Bean Curd Truly, you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Enjoy!
