Ordered on Tuesday, been trying to get through to make a verbal complaint but all numbers advertised ring out or are no longer active, so I thought I’d make my say here, the pot of BBQ sauce I ordered had no taste and was watery, after a day of leaving it out it didn’t go jelly like it instead remained watery, the BBQ sauce on my ribs was also the same, forcing myself to eat it as I paid good money for it, on the third rib in I started urging and had to chuck a good tenner of what I paid for in the bin, only good thing was the delivery driver and the chicken fried rice. Won’t be ordering from here again!.

Visited today, ordered my meal with a beer, I was told I couldn’t have a beer because he was saving all his beer for a large group of Chinese customers sat on another table. I only wanted one I said, but I was refused, I just left, totally baffled, it was 19:00 and I hadn’t had a drink before I visited.

Very disappointed!!!! "Originally ordered the stir fried lamb however was told that was out of stock; which is fine, I get that happens. When asked what we'd like instead, we opted for the chicken in ginger and spring onion. When the order arrived we looked at the 'chicken in ginger and spring onion (£6.40)' and couldn't see a single piece of ginger, or spring onion. Hm.. tasted like chicken with onion in a gravy sauce, more akin to OXO than a soy based Chinese sauce. Not impressed. Then I had the barbecue spare ribs (£6.90) which the bbq sauce was utterly bland. Tasted of literally nothing. The ribs themselves were ok and would have been significantly better without the sauce. Egg fried rice (£3) was acceptable, though stingy on the egg. Very poor. Will not be returning."

Absolutely dreadful. Everything was soggy, and all the dishes tasted the same. No flavours, just sugary sweetness.

Just ordered from uber eats and what a treat. Food was bland, sauces were watery and noodles and rice dry as a dogs bone. The curry didnt even have taste to it.

Just had a sweet and sour chicken balls with mini veg rolls. Wow!!! Probably no.....no ..... sorry, Definitely the worst Chinese takeaway I've had the displeasure of not just eating but had my pants pulled down 👇 at the same time. Thank god I'm just visiting. Shame on you Lucky (for you) Star. 🤮.

Went to the buffet and suspected that the ingredients were not fresh. After eating, I felt allergic to it for three days.

Where to begin? Simple order, 2 lots of spring rolls, 2 lots of soft noodles, 1 lot of chips. Order arrived quickly only because my Uber eats guy was a legend. Got here opened it up, instantly recognize I'm missing one lot of spring rolls. Instead got some weird rice that I'm not sure if I can eat because I'm vegetarian. Not a great start. Then the spring rolls I did get tasted like chemicals. Horrendous all out. Chips are how everyone else describes them, plain and bang average. I don't know how they mess up such a simple order I really don't. Please avoid this place.

disappointing to say the least, chicken balls were very small and the sweet and sour was very watery, the egg fried rice was literally plain rice with egg, no flavour, the bbq ribs were bland, the mixed vegetable chow Mein just had some very thinly chopped carrots, onion and bean sprouts, not really mixed veg is it? the best dish was the beef with spring onion and ginger, will not be ordering again, worst Chinese I've ever had, sorry but true!

Not even worth 1 star, Ordered salt and chilli chicken, crispy chilli beef and salt and chilli chips. My delivery turns up late, to then open the carrier and find the salt and chilli chicken missing, the chips were as bland as anything, there’s more taste in a bottle of water, to top my nightmare off I then find a hair in my crispy chilli beef! I wish I'd listened to Jacob Warners review here. I completely agree! Just had a Chinese delivered and it's honestly the worst I've ever had! Everything was just so bland! The bbq sauce had no flavour except for some kind of sweet watery broth. I usually love the bbq sauce from a Chinese! The satay sauce was so sweet and gloopy and tastes very floral. Not nice at all. The chips had no many chilli flakes on ... I thought they would be salt and pepper chips with pieces of chilli like usual! The crispy beef was very dark and tasted burnt! Most of this went in the bin!

Very small portion of chips, crispy chilli beef was far more chewy than “crispy” and tasted quite disgusting. Portion sizes and quality need to improve as it’s lacking behind massively from competitors.

I ordered such a simple and basic order of chicken balls and chips with curry sauce! The chicken balls were disgusting and tasted solely of flour, there was no flavour to them at all other than genuine raw bits of batter as it was lathered in it. Chunks of flour were tasted. And the curry sauce went everywhere in the bag because it wasn’t wrapped or anything. Just a broken plastic lid! Wholly disgusting and would never go again or recommended it

Been there for couple of time and the food tastes good and tasty. The quantity is fulfilling. Ordered the special fried rice.

I can't even begin to describe how appalled I am with the service and food. When the delivery arrived we were missing a bag of chicken balls yet the sweet and sauce was delivered, meaning that one of us from a family of six people were left without a meal. When questioning the missing chicken balls, the shop refused to send any more out unless we paid extra for them. The service was incredibly rude and inconsiderate of the problem and refused to help in anyway Possible, leaving one of us hungry without food. The food that was delivered was significantly poor for many reasons. The curry was tasteless making it almost inedible and the portion was SMALL. The inedible taste made one of us sick. The rice was colourless and bland. The chicken balls that were delivered were tiny and had a weird taste to them. Overall I am completely disgusted with the lack of customer service as they had no acceptance of the issue and the quality of the food was unacceptable. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE - POOR QUALITY, POOR SERVICE

I think this is one of the best chinese restaurants outside china. Food were really good, good portion and happy and friendly staffs.

Sat in and ate in the restaurant, 10/10. Bao buns were great and fresh, the pork filling had great flavour. The egg fried rice tasted great and was filling. 5⭐️

Had an amazing takeout we ordered pickup and it was ready within around 10 mins. We walked to pick up and even on retuning was still hot and the food was delicious ! Highly recommend best takeout in Plymouth have to have it again!

Shocking service! Least friendly staff, wrong food came out. Charged us for the extra food they got wrong. When correct food came out the noodles had no flavoure, chips were cold, curry sauce didn't taste of anything. Chicken did not taste of chicken and came in very little amounts. Do NOT recommend.

My son and I decided to try Lucky Star after a show, thought that there were 4 Asian lads eating suggested a decent restaurant used by the local Asian. Wrong. Service was close to rude, we were ignored until I forced eye contact. The food was plentiful but greasy and boring. My lamb with onions was bland and greasy. My sons chicken Taiwanese was strange to say the least. Can't say there is one thing that would make me want to return.

Ok orderd via uber eats for the first time tonight ordered at 7.40 took until 9.00 to get to us driver went to the other side of devonport before coming back to stonehouse with the order! packaging was squashed and after microwaving the food it was hot enough to eat! I think next time I will cut out the delivery company and go get it myself! £44 + not satisfied!!

This is very unassuming little cafe/restaurant, but their food is excellent. The staff are really nice. And their great food is very reasonably priced. I'd totally recommend it. Hey! And there portions are really generous. Go there!

As someone who works in hospitality It takes me ALOT to badly review something in fact this will be my first one, this was such a bad experience I have to say something, the hot and sour soups were so bland and had whole chunks of jelly in them, i am obsessed with dumpling but the pastry was more like pasta dough and was really over cooked, the dough needs to be thinner and maybe you need to account for travel time in the cooking of the dumplings, if they are packed into a small container the steam will naturally further cook them a lot more by the time they reach a customer. The prawn balls, the inside was fine but the outside was soft and doughy. Me and my family had about 10 percent of our takeaway before throwing it away and cooking dinner from scratch. My advice, cut down your menu to only a few items that can be done really well and with flavour rather than a load of things done really badly

I don’t usually write reviews but I’ve never had such a bad experience with a Chinese restaurant before. I waited over 2 hours for my food to be delivered, I had to phone the restaurant to be told it was on its way. An hour later, still no sign. It eventually arrived, hardly even luke warm. The chips looked a week old, were stale and had a cardboard feel. I ordered sweet & sour pork Hong Kong style (the dish I always order when ordering a chinese) the sauce didn’t even taste of sweet and sour and there was hardly any. The pork itself was black and chewy, my jaw was aching. My partner ordered honey pork. The pork was okay, but freezing cold. And the honey sauce was basically water mixed with oil. Oh, it also came with some limp, sad looking lettuce. The beef rice tasted alright other than again being cold, but my partner wouldn’t even touch it after trying his meal. The warmest thing that came with the meal were the cans- they definitely didn’t come out of a fridge. WILL NOT BE GOING BACK. £30 down and starving.

The sweat and sour sauce had the taste of strong lemon. Hong Kong style sweat and sour pork the sauce was the same with lemon and the pork was mostly fat. The crackers was hard like they aren’t fresh today. The chips where dry and overcooked. The curry sauce was meh. Defiantly won’t be going back!!

Visité alrededor de las 6. 30 pm un sábado de finales de agosto. La pequeña unidad estaba oscura y vacía, excepto por un tipo detrás del mostrador. Me senté en una de las mesas y eché un vistazo al local mientras él calentaba mi pedido. Tenían un aspecto destartalado y deteriorado, sin las comodidades ni la decoración de un restaurante. Solo una sala de espera para comida para llevar, supongo. El único detalle chino en este feo espacio era un insignificante emblema clavado en la pared de la derecha como una decoración navideña. Algunas sillas estaban apiladas en la parte trasera, como en un almacén.Mi pedido fue pato asado con salsa de frijoles negros; mini rollitos de primavera de verduras; y fideos simples fritos. Eso llegó a las 12. 70, a primera vista un buen precio. El pato era 100% carne real, como pude ver por la piel, y estaba muy tierno. La salsa se veía gris y desagradable, pero la disfruté bastante bien. Contenía trozos de frijoles negros, pimientos amarillos y verdes, cebollas y zanahoria, todos empapados. Los fideos se levantaron de su recipiente de plástico un poco pegados en el tenedor. La oveja negra de la comida fueron los rollitos de primavera vegetarianos, que casi no contenían verduras. Los peores mini rollitos de primavera que he probado. No tiene sentido para mí carecer de contenido cuando las verduras no son caras. Esperaría encontrar guisantes, maíz dulce, brotes de soja o lo que sea dentro de las envolturas, pero estaban casi huecos. Si Lucky Star hace los suyos, son demasiado tacaños; si los compran, el proveedor se está riendo.El hombre a cargo era un tipo agradable que me dio algunas máscaras gratis, tal vez porque llevaba una máscara de bandana. Tomaría "Solo efectivo", lo que me parece una mala estrategia comercial, especialmente en tiempos de COVID cuando las máquinas de tarjetas son más seguras. Crédito a Lucky Star por reabrir; pero no tengo idea, considerando todos, cómo pueden lograr mantenerse en el negocio. Cuando me fui, les deseé buena suerte.

Nos alojamos en Plymouth para un mini descanso y decidimos cenar aquí. Deberíamos haber sabido evitarlo porque no había nadie más allí.No hubo pruebas ni rastros en su lugar. El personal llevaba máscaras faciales.Pedí un vino rosado del menú y el camarero trató de darme tinto. Luego me dio vino rosado de la estantería.Cuando llegó la comida, las patatas fritas y las bolas de pollo estaban duras y tenían un horrible sabor a aceite. Nuestros panecillos estaban helados en el medio. Estos fueron reemplazados pero aún estaban crudos.Cuando llegó nuestra comida, la mesera comenzó a tocar nuestras pertenencias personales en la mesa para hacer espacio. El distanciamiento social fue muy pobre.La comida no era de buena calidad. Las galletas de gambas estaban rancias.Fui al baño y estaba muy sucio. El fregadero estaba lleno de pasta de dientes y cabello. Claramente estaba siendo utilizado como baño familiar.Ojalá hubiéramos leído las críticas primero.

Food is good, but please clean the tables.

Genuinely the worst Chinese I have ever eaten. The curry sauce was tasteless, the meat was blanched as if it had been boiled and had no flavour. The chicken balls, although outwardly looking crisp and golden, were inedible due to the extremely poor quality of the chicken. It was basically sinew. We threw away everything but the noodles and I almost never throw food away when I paid good money for it. I am horrified that they are selling food of this quality when there are so many other takeaways that are a similar price and infinitely better in almost every way.

There's always a lot of chinese takeout/restaurants around town however Lucky Star has stood out to me as being of good quality when me and my girlfriend went in. The food they served us was prepared from when we ordered so nothing was premade, and everything felt authentic. I would recommend the Kung Pow Chicken and any of the fried rices(we had king prawn). Amazing, will go again with my friends soon

Poor unfortunately. Food out at different times. Too salty. Chicken was spongey and food was poor overall. Toilets were also in a bad state. Ashame as we were recommended by a friend.

Terrible experience, we sat in rather than getting a take away. Our food all came out at different times, and tasted of sugar. we sent all 3 mains back and they only replaced one main dish. They didn't bring out the prawn crackers or fortune cookies. We asked for some money off the bill for the mains which were not eaten. They over charged us on the bill bil, then offered 20% off, but over charged us?? Really not happy 😢.

Going by the mixed reviews...It really does depend on what you order. We've eaten in restaurant twice...once with friends and last time just the 2 of us and had take-away twice. On each occasion food was good and we ordered off the main a la carte menu for take-away too. Good portions (We always take the food home from restsurant as too full) It is a small, very hardworking family concern and the wife delivers the take-away orders that are closer to shop on her bicycle. Style of cuisine in restaurant is from different mainland China provinces...the take-away menu is different and leans towards the British concept of Chinese food. Going by the reviews...It appears they struggle a bit during busy peaks in orders. We have had good service and good on both occasions and no complaints. It is not high-end dining and nor do they claim to be but the food is fresh and tastes good. We especially love the salted egg king prawns...perfect every time. I recommend trying dishes from a la carte menu as the quick menu is for quick lunches and take-away. The only reason I have given 4 stars is that they never have my favourite vegetable dishes like Kai lan, kung kong and choi sum but perfection is a big ask unless you pay a lot of money.
