Secret tip for the best Chinese food

First time but sound gorgie faithful . Great

We fancied some pub grub and noticed outside it said, 'OAP's and Children's Menus'. Inside there were two menus, one offering chicken wings and burgers, and the other was offering Chinese food. Where were the pub classics like fish and chips? Very disappointed we didn't stay for lunch.

1st time for years been in luckies won't be back food was not nice not everyone likes likes food like that what's wrong with ordinary food.

Great food, lovely service. Ok, so outside looks like a pub and the clientele is mixed. But a great sit down Chinese is hard to find in this town since Taste Good restaurant closed and the service is great. Food is delicious, super fresh.

Dry burger, happy to go here for a beer.

Delicious Chinese food and excellent service. Best dumplings ever, and generous portions. Well worth the short journey from centre of town. Luckies is now a favourite! Thankyou for looking after all us so well.

Great place for food defo recommend

They kept bringing food! I thought it was just going to a small amount of each item. We didn't manage to eat everything but we did give it a good go. A nap afterwards wouldn't have gone amiss. We ordered the unlimited Banquet. We didn't need to order any extra food. It's great to see Chop Chop in a new location and closer to me. It keeps getting better.

The worst dinner ever. Needed metal teeth to eat batter chicken wich were full of salt. Curry got served ina bowl. Bowls are for soup. It was tinned chicken with curry sauce also smothered with salt. Rice was boiled in the bag. Disgusting. I didn’t ask for a ping ding. This food would’ve given you a heart attack if you had ate it all. So waiter took curry dishes off the price and charged me for the chicken. Wich still wasn’t worth it. Went home with dioreaha.

Went with my boyfriend on the valentines for a meal and a drink and the burgers are incredible here!! Many compliments to the chef I would give it ten stars if I could. Drinks and food really reasonably priced and staff all lovely and attentive, will definitely be back again and again

We went for the food. It was amazing. Just like Chop Chop (restaurant) of old. Staff were friendly and very attentive. Good value for money too.

I have been several times before and always a relaxed pint/meal and the dogs get some free treats. Further more just today my mother and dogs where lost and couldn't make contact before I called and Tracey instantly went out looking for them for me. She done this with pleasure and very quickly to put my mind at rest. The staff is what makes pubs like these so great. Thanks for caring and your assistance Tracey.

Oh wow- I thought we had lost chop chop forever but we discovered their menu in Luckies. It was absolutely fantastic - just like their menu when they were near Haymarket. Definitely going there again!

Came here for the Chop Chop unlimited lunch and was not disappointed. Stacks of dumplings. And we tried the sliced apple desert which was recommended by the server: very good and fun.

Know of luckies very well coming from that area. Main reason for visit was meeting friends for a concert at the corn exchange a short walk along the road. Mahy others had the same idea My put records he had bought behind the bar and we collected them afterward when we went back for a pint A great night great staff🤟🤟

Visiting friends in Edinburgh we called in at Luckies for food. The incredible Chinese food on offer there was a big surprise. The dumplings, crispy chicken, and aubergine dishes were to die for. Amazing Chinese food in a nice pub. I can't wait to go back.

Having seen on the website that the menu was Thai cuisine, we were intrigued and wanted to give it a try. What a find it was, and a surprise to learn that the chef is Jian who used to run Chop Chop on Morrison Street. We will definitely be back.

Today, me and my family went to pay Luckies a visit after hearing about it from a friend, and simply put; it's safe to say we'll be back soon. Amidst arriving for a pre-booked dinner reservation, my party and I were immediately welcomed by the warm atmosphere of the entire restaurant and pub (which was beautifully decorated both interior and exterior on the outer patio), but most notably, by the warmth of the colleagues and staff - especially the head chef Jian. We had such a lovely meal which was just fantastic - both in quality and service (which was so quick!) with a great range and variety of dishes spanning from traditional pub eats to especially the authentic Chinese cuisine. We will definitely be coming back very soon and would recommend to everyone as it is a MUST visit place which we just can't keep secret - you wont be disappointed and find a better pub with even better eats inside. It's safe to say a lot more better and traditional than your average Friday night local Chinese takeaway.

Omg, I've really not been here for such a long time but today I popped in with my work and we sat outside and enjoyed the sun. Lovely and quiet and very enjoyable. Nice!

Was in after the man utd game and the week before staff are first class so are the clientele a beautiful bar and beer garden my locals are the dodge and the wing definitely worth the walk from the calders getting my steps in met to guys from Glasgow celtic supporters we sat and had achat and a couple of pints great banter andy #bighearts#samh

Chop Chop, I'm soooo glad you are back. The food was absolutely delicious. Each dish was unique and packed with flavour. Luckies had a nice relaxed, informal atmosphere. Looking forward to going back again with a dozen of our friends.

Chop Chop at Luckies was fantastic! Jian’s food was absolutely amazing as usual. She even cooked my son’s favourite mini dumplings though they weren’t on the menu. He was a happy little boy. Jian’s Chinese food is the perfect mix of spice, savoury and sweet. The cucumber salad, shredded potatoes, green beans and aubergines are a firm favourite. She really makes an effort with the food, and it is obvious. Love her food and would travel to the end of the world to eat it!

It was Thursday evening and very quiet, but the service was friendly and efficient.

The reappearance of Chop Chop food by Jian in Edinburgh was such a treat. Gordon Ramsay rightly commended her food many years ago so we were delighted that after an absence of a few years, she's back - this time at The Luckies Pub in Gorgie/Chesser. Her dumplings are as good as ever and you still make your own dipping sauce with chopped garlic, soy, vinegar and garlic chilli. The aubergine with garlic was as superb as I remember; the green beans with chillis were tasty and her sticky, unguent ribs were delicious even if I had to go and wash my hands after, so sticky were they! The menu is a bit shorter than before but had most of my favourites - Jian is planning to expand it a bit and possibly bring back the banquet which always worked well for big groups, especially hungry ones. The staff were lovely and we'll definitely be back.

I wish i could give it 10 stars, the food was phenomenal - easily the best chinese food i’ve ever had. Highly recommend the squid and dumplings, this will be a regular for me and my family!!

It's also just across from Saughton Park, which is a lovely place to wander around on a summer's day.

Everyone’s make the effort here. Lovely atmosphere, staff and people. The food is absolutely fantastic and miles better than the overpriced alternative in the centre or Wetherspoons/a chain pub. Well worth a visit. Fast becoming my regular after work watering hole.

Was there after my friend's mum's funeral. The girl who attended to us was so helpful and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious and there was so much of it. Under the circumstances it was a lovely afternoon.

Popped into Luckies after a very long day visiting Edinburgh & so glad I did. Ordered the chicken salad & side of halloumi fries & can honestly say it has to be one of the best meals I have had, salad was so fresh & chicken was cooked to perfection, the halloumi fries were amazing, will definitely be back.

I had fish and chips while Lynne & Steven had the steak pie. The amount of beef in the steak pie was amazing as was the tenderness of the meat, fish and chips was lovely and value for money. Staff amazing and coped well for a busy Saturday afternoon, will be returning soon. Well done Luckies ¡

The is a pub I always visit after the Rugby internationals , excellent food and outstanding customer service. I feel these has a hard core group of regulars who make you feel very welcome. Foods is Superb, had dinner with group of 10 friends everybody delighted with what they ordered.

Loved this place. Atmosphere was great, locals were very friendly and the landlady and staff were very helpful. Pub was packed so get in early and vook a table in advance of you want to eat.

Booked a table for pre rugby. Nice and easy to book with a friendly welcoming message back. This continued on our arrival. Really friendly staff and good atmosphere. Good selection to drink and food was tasty. Will definitely go again.

Nice bar, but £3.90 for a single vodka and a dash?? I nearly passed out. Got the same drink further along Gorgie for £2.05 huge difference if you're out for the night. It is a nice place though

Had a lovely lunch here Fish and chips and peas Staff were nice too.Not an awful lot on the menu but Steaks,baguettes,fish and chips etc I would definately go back for the fish again.

Our first night in Edinburgh and we hadn’t booked anywhere to eat, luckily we found luckies online and booked very easy. There is only a limited menu as they have a new chef and it’s early days. The food was great and presented well. The service was great very helpful and the staff were warm and friendly.

Very friendly atmosphere, they lady that served us was very good with children, they make very nice fish and chips, waiting time is more than average but overall great experience and the decor is amazing. We visited again and the kids menu is even better. Highly recommend

El personal y los apostadores son amables y serviciales.Es un lugar concurrido con seguidores cuando los corazones juegan al fútbol.Los fines de semana a veces tienen una discoteca / karaoke o un artista solista en vivo.Durante la semana es un gran lugar para reunirse con amigos y familiares para comer y beber.Recientemente tuve un magnífico almuerzo de Navidad de 3 platos con amigos en el pub Luckies. La comida era deliciosa y muy bien presentada por su chef. El lugar era cálido y amable y se esforzaron por hacer que todo fuera perfecto.Definitivamente recomendaría probar su menú de comida o menú de Navidad o incluso tener su fiesta de Navidad allí. ?
