Luciano’s Restaurant & Pizzeria in High Peak

The best Italian in Buxton. The food is delicious, the staff are brilliant and Gio is legendary. The perfect place for any occasion. Highly recommend.

The most flavourful element of my linguine vongole was the linguine. With no Parmesan on offer to brighten things up, I created something edible by adding lots of salt and pepper and having all-too-frequent swigs of house white. The theme was continued by the accompanying green leaf salad, which had nothing so frivolous as a dressing to relieve its austerity. The experience was rescued from a two-star review by the perfectly cooked al dente linguine, the lovely service, my companion’s decent chicken dolcelatte and the sensible practice of having salt and pepper pots on the table. This was the second dispiriting meal out of two visits. Yet people seem to have good experiences there. I suppose for me, it must be Unlucky Luciano’s.

We went on the off chance while visiting Buxton, and almost didn't get in as they were really busy. The food was exceptional, hot and tasty, and very authentic Italian in a lovely environment. The staff are really friendly and we had a lot of laughs with them. It was so good we went again two days later (we booked this time!) and the experience was repeated. Much recommended.

We found this excellent and authentic Italian restaurant on the second evening of our recent stay in Buxton after a poor experience at our hotel. We never discussed eating at the hotel again - every evening was a short walk to Lucianos for superb food served by the friendly and very attentive staff. This restaurant certainly rose far above the average in every way.

Whist it ain’t exactly hidden it is certainly a GEM. Authentic Italian, Bethany our server was attentive and knowledgeable adding her charm to an already memorable evening. Visited the restaurant after the carnival on Saturday. Was greeted by very attentive, friendly staff and enjoyed a lovely meal The house red wine was gorgeous We had the mussels and prawns for starter The prawns were outstanding in a rich tomato and spicy sauce The mussels in a cream and garlic sauce were also very nice. Two minor critiques, the mussels were very small maybe they are out of season And tbh it would be good to be served a little bread with both dishes since they had such wonderful sauces The cannelloni for main was beautiful meaty and cheesy and the Ravioli was to die for Fabulous dining experience and we will be back soon thank you

My wife and I were in Buxton for the day and needed somewhere for a meal before our train home, so hadn't made a reservation. Luckily we were seated in a cosy corner of the basement which made a very nice spot to round out our fairly busy day of sightseeing and browsing. The food was excellent (I had Linguine Vongoli, which was delicious, and we split a starter of calamari rings) and the house wine was a nice accompaniment. The staff were also great, and our waiter was very friendly. Certainly recommended for a relaxed dining experience.

I used Lucianos whilst on a training course in Buxton. There is a good range of pasta and pizza dishes available at reasonable prices. I went for a lasagne, which arrived promptly and was which was piping hot throughout and very tasty. Service was polite and efficient.

Booked for a pre-theatre meal. Very good menu - plenty of choice. Couldnt fault any of the dishes we ordered. My beef stroganoff was fantastic. My wife called the tiramasu the best she's ever had. Nice atmosphere even early in evening. Staff were very friendly. We'll be going back. You too should be going

Booked last minute and luckily got a table (was fully booked on the night). The staff were very friendly, the food was amazing. If we ever come back to the Peak District we will definitely be booking again. 100% recommend if you are around the area.

We visited here for dinner on our last evening. We all agreed that it was a brilliant choice from the many Italian’s in Buxton. The food was absolutely delicious (we had pasta and pizza) and the service was perfect- attentive and friendly. Despite arriving early, it was busy with a lovely atmosphere.

We could not fault this restaurant in any shape or form from the original booking to the fabulous night we all had. We booked a retirement party for our colleague and 20 people attended. All we had to do was let the restaurant have our pre orders in advance.. From getting there to going home, the service by all staff was first class. Attentive without going overboard and nothing was too much trouble.... The meals were all served together and we're all outstanding.... absolutely beautiful food...A magnificent night with first class service and food...Thank you...

We were very disappointed after reading the great reviews. The calamari starter was very dense and unpleasant. I’ve never left a starter in a restaurant before but I could not finish it. The risotto main was very average and my wife’s pasta dish was bland. A real shame as we had very high expectations. Sorry but this was our experience.

We have become regular, if not frequent visitors to Luciano's and we have always had positive experiences. Friendly service, good food and family friendly (Our one year old grandson has been made welcome on the occasions he has been with us.)

Found through trip advisor and the reviews are well deserved. Excellent in every way. Delicious food and good menu. Great service. Lovely decor, lighting and atmosphere. Free parking after 6pm outside and just 2 mins from the theatre. Will visit again.

First time tonight and it certainly won’t be our last. The setting, the service and the food were all of the highest standard. Highly recommended.

Stopped without prior reference to the restaurant on the home from a meeting. Excellent food though menu is limited. Service is quick and professional Well, it's worth a second visit.

Absolutely brilliant meal! Staff very helpful and attentive. Lasagne was delicious 😋 Tiramasu was awesome 😍. Despite being a large group of us all our meals were served at the same time. Would highly recommend and will be returning very soon.👍

Very authentic and tasty Italian food and a wide menu choice. Good welcome and friendly staff. My wife and I enjoyed our meal and felt at home.

Good decor, attentive staff but food did not stand out. I had pork ribs starter in bbq sauce but quite fatty. My wife enjoyed her whitebait. For mains I had Lasagna which was okay while she had pasta, salmon and prawns. The house red wine was nice. £80 total (plus tip)

Came here after the pantomime with my mum, partner and toddler. We booked in for 7.30pm. We were greeted and seated promptly, and given menus. There was no children’s menu provided. Drinks orders were taken shortly after being sat, and then our food order also. We asked - it wasn’t on the menu which we felt strange for an Italian - if they could do a bread and oil plate for us, the waitress said she would see. I ordered fillet steak with chips and peppercorns sauce (£27 + £3.50). My mum ordered the stroganoff, my partner the ravioli mamma Mia (£16) and I had to ask if they would do a child’s pizza as we had no menu so were unsure of the children’s options. The bread and oil plate never arrived, nor did the waitress tell us either way which was a little frustrating but these things happen. Our food arrived in good time, all hot. Pros: chips were absolutely delicious, seemingly home made and cooked to perfection. Peppercorn sauce was the right balance of creamy and peppery. Kids pizza was a decent size. Stroganoff came with a generous portion. Steak was cooked to perfection and seasoned well. Ravioli sauce was to die for. Cons: for £16, the ravioli mamma Mia consisted of 3 mediocre sized ravioli pieces. They were literally no bigger than my toddlers hand, and my partner was absolutely starving afterwards he ended up finishing my daughters pizza and my mums stroganoff. It was utterly comedic. The peppercorn sauce I paid extra for didn’t come in a jug, it was already poured over the steak and they weren’t generous with the pour either, so I was definitely short changed with that one. No bread and oils on the menu was disappointing, would have been nice to have some focaccia and olive oil whilst we waited for our meals. We ordered desserts and liquor coffee which we thoroughly enjoyed presentation & taste wise, and the staff were all attentive and efficient. We used to frequent when it was Firenze and then again when it was Ithaca so we’ve seen the interior changes over the year and it’s tastefully done, authentic and very cosy. Atmosphere was lovely. I think overall it’s overpriced in some respects, but the staff are all spot-on. I’m undecided if I would return.

What a fantastic night. Wonderful food, great value, excellent choice on menu and friendly attentive staff. 12 of us were out as an annual family and friends get together. Everybody enjoyed the food, ambiance and service. We will definitely be back and couldn't recommend it more. Just hope they can accommodate us again on our next outing.

Authentic Italian restaurant in Buxton. We had a lovely meal on our ladies weekend away. Great atmosphere, food and service.

Just what we were looking for. Perfect food, lovely staff and the atmosphere was welcoming and quiet. Couldn't ask for more.
