Had a lovely meal and excellent service from Emily. She offered great advice over my food allergy which I was grateful for. Well worth a visit.

Regular visitors with family but they seem to be losing there way with pricing and value for money. Will have to review inthe future.

This place looked inviting so thought we would give it a try, staff were friendly, my husband had pork that was supposed to be crispy it was very fatty not crispy, we told the waiter he said he was a fatty type meat, I had mussels that were nice but the artesian bread it came with was toasted and so hard I thought my teeth would break, told that’s what mussels come with.Paid and left will not recommend.

Having been to Lucia's before for drinks with friends, I suggested it as a venue for dinner on an overnight stay with my sisters - celebrating my belated 50th birthday. We called in around lunchtime for a glass of fizz, and some nibbles - there we got to meet the lovely Nidele, who not only provided us with fantastic service, but she was also so kind, professional and attentive. We enjoyed olives, bread, and roasted baby potatoes with garlic & wilted spinach. Yummy. We had a table booked for dinner that evening, and had seen a particular table we liked, and while Nidele was unable to give us that table, she reserved as a similar one close by, which was also lovely. Returning for dinner, we were served by Ergun - again, so friendly, welcoming, and professional. We ordered some rose wine and were then presented with a glass of prosecco, a gesture from Nidele as she knew it was a celebration from our conversation earlier in the day. We were so touched by that kindness ❤️ our dinner then arrived - delicious garlic bread with tomato & mozzarella, mushroom risotto, breaded aubergine & pasta arrabiata with Italian sausage. All so very delicious 😋 we opted to miss desert as we were quite full, but Nidele came to see us, with a beautiful tiramisu and 3 spoons! Honestly, blown away by the attention to detail at Lucia's, it was such a lovely experience, and the food was great. A memorable experience for 3 sisters together ❤️ thank you, Nidele & Ergun, a real asset to team Lucia, we're sure x

Extremely noisy, squid inedible replaced with grilled goats cheese and the walnuts on top full of shell - so not a good start. Lobster ravioli has excessive amount of chilli which drowned out the lobster flavour completely. Waiter very courteous and took on-board our issues. Would recommend avoiding on a Saturday night- far too busy and kitchen obviously cannot cope.

First of all fabulous atmosphere and service! My chicken skewer with chips and salad was a bit disappointing - 4 pieces of chicken and no chorizo - just a couple of bits of streaky bacon for £24 .. The sticky toffee pudding was nice as was the wine. All in all £45 … just didn’t feel satisfied…

Excellent service, excellent food and value.

We arrived mid afternoon and chose the two course lunch menu. It was fairly busy but we were served quickly. We both enjoyed our meals,my friend had the sea bass and I chose the chicken harissa salad. The desserts were delicious.

It's a classic staple of York. Always great. Had a pizza this time.. I think the non-pizza mains are honestly better.

My party were met by no members of staff. The young staff simply passed us on every angle while we stood waiting. The blonde young waitress who should have attended is walked away as we approached her. We left.

We are not local but this is the 2nd time we have been, it has become a must now for when we are in York. Lovely food, great atmosphere and friendly staff.

Listen, I can't say anything bad about the food But the system they run at this restaurant is ridiculous. We ordered drinks great. We ordered a starter, great. We ordered our main,waited 25minutes ok it's busy, so no fuss made. We asked to see the dessert menu. The server went off and came back to say, "Sorry you can't. We need the table. After 1 hr and 40 minutes. Is that excessive?. So I'm not really a happy customer. My sons graduation day 😃. So it didn't spoil our day. So don't let me put you off But I won't be returning

We attended for the bottomless brunch. The staff were amazing, friendly and welcoming. We could quickly order a wide selection of drinks, the food was divine and the quantity made the price amazing. Best bottomless I’ve been to.

We had a wonderful meal, found the atmosphere, food and service excellent. We chose from the lunchtime menu, 2 courses for £20 and found the portions large and quality top notch. The mojitos were some of the best I’ve had in York. We will definitely visit again.

This is one of them places that is a little bit out of the way the food is excellent and the setting is lovely the staff are helpful and friendly nothing too to much trouble when make this a place to eat you will not be disappointed

This is a beautiful place with amazing food. The only criticism was the music playing, I felt it was like being in Ibiza. This was addressed, and the volume lowered. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Had to wait nearly 40 minutes for our table for 3 which was booked in May, we were offered a complimentary small drink for the delay but got the impression they had taken too many bookings. The food was ok but had to request the offered tap water 3 times, very disappointed.

Lovely food and table service, I say table service because the lady who showed us to our table wasn’t very friendly at all. Just did her job. A poor first impression. Having just left the Hilton with a similar standard if she leaves this restaurant she’ll fit right in there. But she could clearly be nice and smily with the other staff particularly the men it seemed. A tip - clients make the world go round.

What a fantastic restaurant, right from arriving to eventually leaving we were treated like long standing customers even though it was our first visit . The food and wine were excellent and I cannot praise the entire staff enough . We will definitely return next time we are in York

This is me and my partners special place to eat, so of course we came to celebrate our engagement after my partner proposed earlier in the day. My partner booked the wrong day, but the front of house staff were quick to assist and find us a table even though they were very busy (and this was without knowing it was a special day for us). Meal was perfect as always, and then at the end after I excitedly let out to the waiter that we got engaged that day, he gave us a glass of champagne on the house which we were not expecting! Amazing evening all round!!!

This was a marvellous experience. The food was great, the service was excellent. I think the chef is very talented. Special thanks to our waitress, Emily, for her lively smile and quick response.

The treatment by the manager was unprofessional. After eating, once dessert arrived, they told me they wanted the table and we would move you to another table, even though I was not notified of this before entering the restaurant nor before I ordered dessert. The only great thing about this restaurant is the waiter's kindness.

Good place. Nice food. Wish could have sat outside. Some parts of the restaurant are nicer to site than others given how the restaurant is split up.

WHAT A SHAME . My birthday and celebrating in York, found this restaurant and wanted to relax and have a lovely meal. This has a lovely outside cosy space and felt it was perfect. Meal we had was nice and instead of having a dessert I opted for a cocktail and when ordering I asked, who turned out to be the manager, if they were in a hurry for the table and was reassured no and was told to relax and enjoy. Then not more than 15 minutes later the same person came over with the bill in hand and told us they now needed the table and we would have to move. When I then I asked another member of staff if I could speak to manager I was told that was the manager and the other now later booking took priority. Very disappointed in customer service

My husband and me went last night for an impromptu meal and it was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. I had the vegan salad which was gorgeous and the pistachio cheesecake - both of which were so tasty I am planning on going back to have them again! Lovely mojito too :) we sat outside which was lovely on a nice evening. All the staff were helpful and didn't hover over you, but were close by if you needed them.

Good food, interesting ambiance, and decent variety on the menu.

The lunch set meal was one of the better valued set meals around the area considering that it offered a great selection and generous portion sizes. We had the pork belly starter, steak panini, prawn cocktails, and thr burger which were all absolutely delicious, most especially the pork belly. Although, I found the prawn cocktails lacking in flavour but it may just be me being picky with prawn cocktail dishes. The drinks were average, I just found them tasting a bit too much of alcohol which took away from the flavour. Service was average. Not much interaction with staff but they were attentive despite being quite busy at the time. The atmosphere wasn't quite as pleasant during the peak period since tables on the ground floor were placed quite close together.

Baked goat cheese appetizer was fantastic. My partner’s lobster ravioli he said was quite good. I’m vegetarian so ordered the artichoke ravioli off the vegan menu. The dish arrived so hot it was maybe 10 minutes before I could eat any, even cooling each bite. It had must have been microwaved to be that hot. The artichokes, not many, and roasted red peppers were good, the “risotto” and sauce definitely not. I love a good risotto, this was rice in an oily yellow sauce. I guess it was saffron. The rice wasn’t creamy as expected, and kind of hard/crunchy inside as though it was undercooked. The pistachio cheesecake was not exactly a cheesecake, but was very good. I was disappointed overall tho, as friends ate here the night before and loved everything they ordered. Perhaps the vegan menu doesn’t get the same care as the regular entrees. It’s shame, vegetarians/vegans are so happy to see a special menu. We’re just visiting, but won’t go back if we come again.

Duck breast is quite good, not recommend steak, very old and not tasty

Brought my wife here for her birthday and was impressed by the quality of the food. The place had a great atmosphere, lovely food and excellent service and had a being on holiday vibe, definitely recommended.

Everything about this place was spot on from food to drinks service all for an extremely reasonable price! (Have the duck if you get the chance!)

I’m basing my review on my likelihood to return. Went today with my partner and son. The food was fantastic, and if I was only rating the food, this would be a good review. There are other places that do a better quality food for the same price, but this wasn’t really an issue, more an observation. However the service was terrible & staff were uncaring…. We were asked for our drinks order within a matter of seconds after we’d sat at the table, and then weren’t approached for our order again. Staff kept walking past with their heads down and I tried getting attention on a few occasions, with no success. Some time went past, and we had chosen what we wanted to eat, and we were approached for our food order. I asked if we could order drinks as well, and gave our order, but the waitress then shot off before we could order food (despite me being mid sentence on the food side of the order). We finally got everything ordered, and it arrived promptly, and was delicious. But I had ordered a cocktail (we’d ordered a few that were great), and it was terrible… the Summer Bramble tasted unlike any of the ingredients/flavours on the menu, so I asked to swap it. The waitress left it on our table and brought me my new drink. At the end of the meal, I then spoke to another waitress, and explained as it did not taste like the menu described, and what I had been served wasn’t for me, I’d like it to be taken off the bill before bringing us the bill. The waitress said she’d speak to the manager, but then didn’t return. Finally, someone else came to the table and asked us if we were ready to pay, and brought us the bill, with the drink still on. I explained the issue, and was told that the drink was fine and they would not be removing in from our bill. I explained my issue not being about preference, but about getting a drink that wasn’t as described, yet they didn’t care. In the end, we asked for the service charge to be removed, which was £1 more than the drink. And as a result of the staff being so uncaring and unwilling to admit there was an issue, we won’t be returning.

Good food, great staff. Went on my own today and had the Carbonara which was okay, nothing to shout about but still good. The Creamy Parmesan Mash was delicious however, and the brownie dessert was quite nice too. Also had a “Paradise in Yorkshire” cocktail which was very tasty. 4/5. Staff were nice and friendly as soon as I arrived, got seated quickly and they were all very attentive, making sure I had what I need but not coming over too much. All food and drinks arrived at my table incredibly fast as well, I was shocked at just how fast, so no complaints there, service 5/5. Slightly on the pricier side in my opinion but it’s nothing crazy compared to everywhere else these days I guess, just didn’t appreciate the service charge being automatically added to the bill when I would have tipped anyway. Lovely venue, upbeat tunes playing but not too loud, great decor. Only complaint here is that where I was sat it seemed that the seat was too low/table was too high and I felt a bit like my plate was in my face, but I looked at other tables and that didn’t look like an issue. Not worth knocking off a star for that though, the seat itself was very comfortable, atmosphere 5/5.

We recently dined at Lucia to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday and were quite underwhelmed by the experience, especially given the special concierge package we booked. From the moment we arrived, the experience was confusing and disappointing. We were expecting a welcome drink, nibbles, and our own personal server as part of the package. Instead, we were mumbled at by the receptionist and told to either sit at the bar or go directly to our table. At the bar, we were left waiting for over five minutes with no clear instructions. When we finally received the drinks menu, I had to ask if we could order any drink as it wasn’t clear. After eventually receiving our first drink and a small serving of bread and olives, we moved to our table. The balloon I requested was there, but we had initially asked to sit on the heated terrace. Finding it too cold, we requested to move indoors and were seated in the conservatory without being given a choice, presumably due to a lack of availability in the main restaurant. Once seated, we waited 20-25 minutes for a drinks waiter. I ordered a bottle of wine and specifically asked if I could take it home if we didn’t finish it. The waiter assured me it wouldn’t be a problem, yet later, they refused to let me take the unfinished bottle, which was particularly upsetting given its expense. The delays continued with another 20 minutes before our order was taken and a further 45 minutes for our starters to arrive, followed by another 30-minute wait for our mains. The food was a significant letdown. Our chicken dishes were lukewarm, with nearly congealed sauce and minimal flavor. I chose not to request reheating to avoid causing a stir. Our son’s lasagne, while better tasting, was dangerously hot and bubbling, and all portions were notably small. Given the special occasion and the premium concierge package, the experience fell far short of expectations. The service was slow and inattentive, and the food quality was disappointing. I believe we are entitled to some form of compensation for the subpar experience on such an important day.

Arrived on Saturday night to a rowdy hen party swearing and not being overly nice to each other.. Seated at the front of the restaurant by a well presented gentleman whose service level was very good.. 4* for service. The restaurant is huge.. suggest if you do go, ask to be sat outside (looked really classy) and not near the front restaurant which was seating various hen party’s and large groups. Food was average. Pizza bread starter was undercooked, dry and short on tomato toppings compared to other Italian restaurants that we have visited. (See my other reviews.. clearly not freshly cooked) 2* for the pizza bread. Olives were really good.. thank you. 5* for the olives. Carbonara was salty maybe down to the amount of pancetta which was plentiful other than that it was nice. Thank you 4*. The shocker was the lasagna.. cooked with pulled beef.. clearly a cost cutting exercise but the taste was poor. Never seen this in my life at any Italian restaurant. 2* We had 2white and 2red glasses of wine which was nice and good value for money.. Overall cost was £93 for 2 persons. Overall.. if you want to go to an Italian restaurant that turns over customers for profit this is the place for you.. otherwise there was plenty more independent Italian restaurants around that will give you better value for money and a much better Atmosphere..

Forgot to take photos which is a shame because the food was absolutely beautiful. The food was well priced and really nice to eat. Service was very prompt, we were served by Kasha who was exceptionally helpful.

This restaurant was one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever tried in UK. I tried the duck meat it was very delicious also I tried pasta with tomato sauce and chicken, also was very delicious. I also tried chicken breast and all me al was amazing I highly recommend this restaurant.

When booking our table I was asked if it was for a special occasion, Lucia celebrated special occasion. I was told.it was my birthday , no celebration for this occasion from Lucia’s. As I was led to believe Service very good , the tomato garlic bread came out within seconds, it had been stood , tough to cut very dry and crispy The duck dish and the lasagne was more the standard we expected Lucia had no atmosphere, food very average, Disappointing first experience , after a recommendation.

Unfortunately this is the second attempt in contacting yourselves but I’ve heard nothing back in a month! After booking the Harrogate restaurant for the end of March and finding out that it closed, we hurried to book a table for the York restaurant. Upon arrival we were greeted and taken upstairs to already waiting guests. After a short while we were taken downstairs to our table, to find broken glass on the bench seat. The staff were made aware but not phased about what we told them. One of our guests made us aware that he had entered the restaurant to be told to wait outside and not upstairs at the bar where all the other guests were (at this point we were already there and he is 79 years of age!). Food was ok, however nothing special, we had the table for 1.5 hours, we could only eat as quick as we were being served and we were kicked out without the option of the desert menu, especially since this was a birthday celebration and wanted to end with a pudding! This has put a sour taste in our mouths and somewhere we wouldn’t recommend for a good time.

Food and service always spot on.

Came here with my mum who was visiting me at university, but was appalled when the restaurant which was advertised so nicely on social media resembled more of a rowdy night club than a restaurant. Service was fine despite the front of house girls who ignored me for a minute while they had a conversation despite me stood right in front of them, then when we were seated there was couples to either side of us, one of which had a girl basically straddling her boyfriend and the other couple had their shoes off on their table. The worst part however was the table behind made up of men and women in their thirties, they were so drunk they shouldn’t have been let into a restaurant to begin with, the men were taking their shirts off and making rude comments to my mum, and no servers asked any of these people to be respectful or alternatively escort them out. Food was nothing special either, all over a very uncomfortable experience.

Food at Lucia's was really good, we tried the mussels, beef skewer, parmesan fries and tiramisu. However we found it very expensive for the fairly modest portion size ... and they added an additional 10% discretionary service charge, which we politely declined. Fabulous food but overpriced

I have been a customer of Lucia for many years at both the York and Harrogate location. The food is top notch and the service is great too. Wide selection of food and cocktails. Always a first choice for a date night.

A wonderful restaurant, the food was really good and the ambience on the terrace is brilliant. Our waiter was great, but the maître d' was a bit of a micromanager, and somewhat rude, so this was the only blip on a lovely evening meal.

Found this gem late but used it on our last two nights, will definitely be our to go place when we re -visit. 10/10

Had lunch here for the first time yesterday and the whole experience was faultless. Warm, smartly dressed and welcoming staff, beautiful decor/atmosphere and the food was stunning! Will certainly return next time I’m in York.

I have been coming to this local restaurant since it first opened , I’ve never had a bad meal until this weekend ! Ordered the Lobster & king prawn pasta There was about 4 prawns And as for the Lobster tail There was a tail plonked on top the dish but sadly the flesh inside was NON existent… I pointed this out to the waiter when asked how our meal was He said he’d make them aware also the cheesecake had seen better days an was slightly stale too, But when it came to pay we were still charged full price , Would I rush back no sadly as the prices are reflecting the ambience and not the quality of the food from when it first opened

The management is rude and never helped

Recently celebrated my 50th birthday here and what a great night we had. We did the cocktail experience first and all had a fantastic time preparing our drinks. The mixologist (I can’t remember her name embarrassingly) was super sweet and made us all feel at ease and was very knowledgeable. We moved downstairs for dinner and the food was delicious - the best seafood spaghetti I’d ever had. The staff were very attentive and friendly so helped make the night. Wish I lived nearer to York so we could come more often. Would 100% recommend.

Great cocktails, nice atmosphere and decor

This place is amazing, the decor is really nice and the staff are very attentive. We were sat in the front section by the dessert bar. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were very good. The staff were all lovely and very attentive to us and service as a whole was excellent. The only (minor) issue I had was that I saw the staff put my sticky toffee pudding in the microwave on the dessert bar. Whilst I understand that microwaving STP’s is probably an industry norm, doing this in full view of customers does not give the best impression. Nonetheless, our meal was amazing as well as the whole experience and I’ll definitely return.

Being gluten intolerant and pescatariam it's difficult to find a restuarant that offers a plate of joy but Lucia restuarant did that. Food well presented and tasty. Staff very helpful and with a welcoming smile very attentive. The only downside was loud modern music but on asking the sound was turned down leaving us to enjoy our anniversary meal with family . This was our third visit and we will be returning.

A great place for meeting with friends or family or with your loved one ( wife ). Service is excellent and the food is excellent too.

Family of 4 for Sunday lunch and it was superb, we shared a mixture of garlic breads for starters then went with the roast beef the kids had Carbonara and a burger again both superb. Visited Lucia’s Restaurant this Saturday for my 16yr old daughter’s birthday meal with family. Food ok but in my opinion wasn’t the best. The male italian waiter was really miserable, did not crack his face. Good thing is that the restaurant inside is quite nice, One thing that was quite annoying, waiting staff wouldn’t bring out our own birthday cake unless we paid £35 extra and got all our party to sign a waiver form!! Which is a cheek and would have ruined the surprise. We didn’t bother having desserts because of this. So we can safely say we won’t be visiting here again.

Evening meal for a family of four. Sat in the courtyard, good atmosphere lighting and background music. Chilly night but plenty warm enough with outside heating provided. Staff very friendly and professional. Food quality and choice first class. We are local and find this restaurant always delivers for business and pleasure events.

Beautiful surroundings & delicious food. Make a reservation to ensure you get a table. The location is in town centre. Inside & outside tables. Mainly Italian food, but other options available.

Really disappointed with our visit we had really looked forward to. Staff where friendly and the food arrived fast however our pizzas where tasteless, the base was like a cracker and it lacked flavours not enough tomato and the cheese was dry as over cooked. Truffle fries where to strong in flavour too and the Parma ham and rocket pizza again tastelss and dry we left most of the food. They would only take 20%! Off the total bill again disappointing and we wont be coming back. Even the waitress could see how poor and dry the pizza was. Such a shame as we’re visiting York for the weekend for a special birthday treat.

Another great lunch here, five friends celebrating a birthday at our go to place. I can recommend the pinwheels as a sharing starter, very tasty. Sea bass fillets, burgers and the halloumi salad were all perfect and the birthday girl was given a complimentary pudding. One slight criticism, the girl welcoming diners outside was less than friendly, our party arrived separately and all had the same experience. Bring back Phoebe! Many thanks to our server, Trinity, who was delightful and looked after us. We’ll be back again in June for he next birthday!

The aesthetic in the restaurant is gorgeous, and the toilets are immaculate. The set menu was 2 courses for around £22. The food was very nice indeed. The Sauvignon Blanc was the best I’ve ever had. Service was excellent. Would definitely return.

had the fillet steak it melted in your mouth my husband had the fish, food was fantastic and staff very helpful , when asked to change our table as it was cold where we sat they moved us without any hassle

Our favourite restaurant in York. I had the Truffle Mushrooms Tagliatelle and it was amazing. Special shout-out to the Pepperoni, Nduja & Mozzarella Pinwheel we had for a starter. Couldn’t fault anything.
