Very enjoyable meal with my family for my daughter's 18th. Great food, excellent service and good value for money 😁

Arrived at 7.10 for our 7.15 booking. , had to wait outside as table wasn’t ready. , when we sat down ordered a bottle of Chablis to be brought a different wine so waited for that to arrive , after starters and main decided to order another £65 bottle of wine , after waiting a few minutes, manager comes over and tells us we need to leave as they needed our table. , so we had to cancel our deserts and wine. , the thing was 3 tables around ours had eaten and where the before us , told the lady who brought our bill to remove our £22 service. . Remove the desert and Chablis of the bill as it hadn’t even arrived , maybe the manager needs to go back to business school again , definitely won’t be returning

Very accommodating staff. I went with my two boys (6 & 9) for a treat meal. We all enjoyed the food and felt comfortable. My 6 year old gave a 5 star review, and told the nice waiter in the patisserie area that Lucia was his new favourite restaurant. Lovely atmosphere and great food. Thanks

Wonderful 2 course lunch for £20.

Nice place, great ambience and very friend staff. The food was excellent. You can eat inside or out. There are heaters outside and blankets should you need them.

Me and my wife enjoy tapas and wine And they have both here,we always get a selection of tapas and bread,prawns are fantastic and so to are the mussels Back soon ended up popping back for a drinks on Friday evening 14th we sat at the bar and a lovely young lady served us for a few hours she was friendly and chatty the service was great I’m sure she was called and Elle but she definitely deserves a mention

Nice restaurant, though on the expensive side. The starters tasted pretty great, though the main of cod was a little bland which was slightly disappointing but not awful. The tiramisu was fantastic and probably the culinary highlight. Drinks were definitely above average but not groundbreaking. Likewise the service was a little mixed as we did have to wait for quite long periods whilst tables who arrived after us were served quicker, though staff were still friendly and accommodating. I was also charged for a double espresso when I specifically requested single so I'm assuming this is a standard practice, didn't think it was worth brining up for the small price difference but a tad frustrating. Overall quite good, though maybe a little underwhelming for the price tag. Easily 5 stars if it were 20% cheaper.

Had a wonderful 52nd anniversary meal. Staff lovely, very welcoming and efficient. Think it's the nicest restaurant we have been to as the decor is truly amazing 👏😍. The atmosphere is wonderful too. Food was absolutely amazing!! Let down by the service. Dirty plates sat on the table for quite a while after we finished eating and we were not asked if we wanted anymore drinks. Had to ask 3 times for the bill and twice for the card machine to pay. Food amazing, venue beautiful but let down by the service.

Wandered in at 10pm on a Wednesday, just looking for somewhere still open. I'd been many times before for tapas and drinks, and wasn't expecting much as the kitchen was closing and we were asked to order from a limited menu. We had a splendid meal (I had tuna steak, she had an impressively good pasta dish). Great wine, lovely service, excellent value. I'll be going back for a proper full meal.

A lovely little gem in the centre of York. Atmosphere is good with a modern feel. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. We ate from the lunchtime set price menu one day and it is very good value for money and really tasty. Another day we ate from the a la carte menu and again very tasty. We also had a carafe of wine and some beautiful cocktails. We will definitely be back next time we are in York.

Services and environment are good to having nice dinner but unfortunately the meals we had was extremely salty. I can't even have ½ portion of my meal. It's was out of my expectation, and disappointed. I wish to see some improvement on this.

We ordered Lasagne as it was a very special dish in that it was made with slow cooked beef. To our surprise it came and it wasn't the same. We politely asked an already disgruntled member of staff whether the menu had changed. She said yes, and it was stated as such on the internet. I don't know about anyone else, but how many restaurantees check the Internet prior to eating a meal to ensure the recipe is the same? I think not many, if any. The member of staff aggressively said "well you still have to pay for it." We had not touched the meal, nor had we intimated that we would not pay for it. She snatched the plates away and presented us with a bill for £59. We left and had Sunday lunch around the corner. On checking the internet, the lasagne was described as being made with slow cooked beef. We visited York from Manchester. Obviously, we will never return, but the whole episode made me extremely sad. They could have apologised for the misunderstanding, and we would have still paid. Ah, well... perhaps she had a bad day.

The food was amazing and the service was just lovely! My friend briefly mentioned it was my birthday in the booking and I got a card on arrival and free dessert and they even remembered i was vegan so gave me some lovely sorbet!! Cant recommend enough💕

The most delicious food, beautiful restaurant & gorgeous ambience, lovely staff highly recommend we had a lovely experience thank you 💚 we had vegan meatballs with sourdough bread, mushroom bruschetta, aubergine & parmesan tortellini, vegan puttanesca, chips, garlic & chilli tenderstem broccoli & biscoff cheesecake. Drinks we had 0% Peroni & red wine, everything was fab!

Can't fault anything about our visit.

I booked almost 3 weeks in advance for a friend and I and advised I had a mustard allergy / gluten intolerance at time of booking online. I re-confirmed this upon arrival and staff advised this was already in their notes from the booking. When seated was brought a gluten free menu, but not an allergen guide. Ordered a pasta dish with bacon, almonds and cheese. A few minutes later a staff member returned to advise I could not have this as it contained mustard and then handed over an allergen guide. When I looked through the guide EVERY choice on the menu was listed as containing mustard. My reply to the waitress was "there is nothing on here that I can eat as everything is listed as containing mustard" She headed to the kitchen and then returned saying chef may be able to do the steak for you. This was the you. This was the most expensive item on the menu and was also marked on the allergen guide as containing mustard. I did not want to eat a steak when I had ordered a pasta dish from the menu choices I had been offered. The waitress then asked me how severe was my allergy which I advised it’s not airborne but if ingested could cause anaphylaxis. She returned to the kitchen and then came back to advise that the chef was now refusing to cook anything for me. I then asked the waitress if mustard was such an issue for them why did they not contact me to let me know in advance and I would have cancelled the booking. She apologised but had no real answer. We then had no choice but to leave Lucia York which was very embarrassing and try find somewhere else at 8pm on a Saturday evening . I have eaten in this restaurant several times (lastly around 18 months ago) and in numerous Italian restaurant's across York, the UK and Italy and have never experienced such an issue with mustard before. It felt very much like I was a major inconvenience to them and they wanted to make as much money out of me as possible to compensate for this if I was willing to take a risk with my allergy.

We attended yesterday for a bottomless brunch I wanted to give slightly higher between good and average but no option The bottomless brunch is very restrictive on drinks and everyone has to finish their drink before anymore. Awkward when some are slow drinkers . We were told this is the policy but the policy isn’t clear when booking and telepathy not great . The waiter / server was quite rude with us from the beginning, we were a group of mature ladies and not drunk so this felt uncomfortable. My meal arrived five minutes after everyone else as he said he ‘wrote it wrong ‘ On arriving we were asked if we would Like water . I thought very kind , but at £8.50 I feel a bit robbed ! And licences premises do have a legal obligation to provide water with alcohol . It would have been nice if the charge was transparent before we got the bill We chose not to pay the £40 service charge as although we always tip it felt presumptuous and wasn’t great service . I will add when my food did eventually come it was nice .

Lovely for a cocktail but not when you find that you've been charged almost £2 service charge for ordering 2 cocktails that were 20 minutes to make and you're sat at the bar and no table service needed. I never mind paying a service charge if I've had dinner, but for just making a cocktail that's absolutely disgusting!!!

Great menu choices. Brushetta excellent and both mushroom and seafood risotto was on point. Would recommend. Nice vibe too. Xx

Beautiful Italian food restaurant. The dishes are tasty and well presented. We arrived almost at the close of service and they treated us very well. The bar area, where you can also have lunch or dinner, is very pleasant and the service people are very friendly.

Great food. Only downside was being asked if we wanted water on the table only to find a £4.25 expense on the bill for tap water. Don't offer it without advising price. Spoilt what would have been a 5 out of 5 experience.

Wow amazing food, main delicious despite one small bone in sea bass. Dessert presentation lovely but lacked taste. Surroundings absolutely beautiful. Would definitely be back ❤️

Really nice food and great service. Well looked after premises, high quality feel to the place and the staff and food were great. We didn’t book but managed to get a table with a 45 min wait (we went to a local pub for a drink). Would recommend

We were having a wonderful time in York, enjoying the city’s rich history, vibrant atmosphere, and charming venues. We chose this restaurant with great excitement, as both its decor and menu seemed very appealing. Unfortunately, our experience turned out to be quite disappointing. The atmosphere was undeniably beautiful—warm, inviting, and carefully designed. While the portions were smaller than expected, the food itself was delicious. However, the quality of service did not match the rest of the experience. The attitude of the bar staff, in particular, was completely unacceptable for an establishment of this level. We ordered two cups of tea, but the teapot we received barely contained enough for one. When we politely raised the issue, we were met with an unprofessional and dismissive response, which was truly disappointing. We expected much better customer service from a place like this. Additionally, I specifically requested my cola without ice, yet it was served five minutes after our food arrived—and with ice. When I asked for the ice to be removed, I had to wait another two minutes. Overall, we were hoping for a pleasant experience but were instead met with a series of frustrating service issues. We truly expected better.If it were possible to give a negative rating for the service, I absolutely would. Sorry for this review.

Even though the restaurant was really busy our food came really quick and the service from the team was second to none. Some reviews on here comment on the discretionary 10% tip that’s added to the bill automatically but we were made fully aware of this and based upon our experience, more than happy to pay. Definitely recommend visiting here but book ahead - We look forward to coming back in the summer!

Over priced for average food. You’re paying for the vibe of the restaurant. Immediately as you sit down, a waitress will ask if you want water for the table, you will not be told that this is over £4. They also charge a discretionary tip, your waiter does not make you aware of this, and if we didn’t take notice of the paper bill at the end of the meal, wouldn’t have seen it. Felt somewhat cheated out of extra money when we didn’t 100% enjoy the food. Ive had better pasta dishes for cheaper at better places.

I have been to quite a few italian restaurants this as to be by far the best as soon as we went in the atmosphere was lovely the staff were warm and friendly and tge food was absolutely delicious

The whole experience was perfect in every way. The atmosphere is delightful, the food is spectacular and the service is exceptional. I booked for my husbands birthday, and so glad we dined there. It is certainly the first time we've dined there, but certainly not the last. We Highly recommend Lucia. Thank you to all for a truly wonderful evening x

Popped in for lunch mid afternoon. No problem getting a table & service was friendly, quick & efficient. We both ordered off the lunchtime special menu. The food was lovely & great value. We also had a great bottle of red wine to accompany the food.

Fantastic restaurant! We didn't book but they found us a lovely table. Food was incredible, and really fast! Cocktails were also really nice. I love a jazzy toilet and these did not disappoint! Lovely little place, highly recommend.

Looking for somewhere to eat in York and came across Lucia's and so glad we did. The restaurant itself is lovely and well presented with a really nice outdoor area which we would have used but visited in January so dined inside. The food was really good with all four of us enjoying our meals and the staff were really friendly. Would most definitely eat here again when visiting York

We visited Lucia on 17th January 2025 to celebrate my partner’s birthday. The thoughtful gesture of a birthday card on arrival was a lovely touch and really set the mood for a special evening. The food itself was very nice, with great flavours and presentation, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Unfortunately, the service let the experience down. There was an unusually long wait—over an hour—between our starters and mains, which was disappointing. As a result, we had to skip dessert to stay on schedule for the rest of the evening. While the setting and food were lovely, the slow service took away from what could have been a perfect birthday dinner. Hopefully, this can be addressed as it’s a restaurant with so much potential.

We decided to go to York for a couple of days and stumbled across Lucia’s , food is amazing, and the people who serve the food and wine are the loveliest and friendliest I have ever had in a restaurant, nothing is too much and they are so happy chat and happy to help. Made our trip even more special x

Booked in for our 3 year wedding anniversary dinner on NYE 2024. We had our 9 week old baby with us so decided to have lunch at Lucia. The service was good, fitted us in on a table that was big enough for the pram and we were welcomed with a glass of prosecco and a card for our anniversary which was a lovely touch. I've marked the service 4/5 as we did feel a little rushed when taking our order and clearing between courses however I appreciate it was NYE and they were likely wanting to move us along so they could prepare for the evening. The food was very nice, I had a lamb dish, which was cooked extremely well. My husband went for the specials menu and had the steak but unfortunately this was slightly overcooked but still tasty.

Great place to eat, best place to sit is outside with the blankets and heaters. Went inside but they sat us with all the families so wasn't the relaxing normal experience.

We brought my mum here for a birthday treat and we had an amazing experience. From the beginning the staff were attentive and gave an amazing service. The food was incredible and they even gave my mum a birthday card and a free desert. We will definitely be back one day.

My friend and I dined at Lucia’s in December whilst visiting York Christmas markets. The food was amazing, as was the service. Our waitress was run off her feet due to the restaurant being full, however she still delivered top service and ensured that we were looked after throughout. We enjoyed the restaurant so much we decided to move to the bar to spend the rest of our afternoon before our travels back to Newcastle. Again the service in the bar was great and we had a lovely afternoon. We will definitely be returning to Lucia’s on our next trip to York. P.S. after all of this they were even kind enough to spread the Christmas spirit and mail us the fudge we’d bought on our trip to York and stupidly left in the bar area of their restaurant. Without a doubt, they really do go above and beyond for their customers! Thanks again for a lovely visit to Lucia’s :)

Lucia was recommended to us and as we were planning to be in York for NYE and were looking for a nice place to eat, we booked here well in advance in October. I have to say, it was great. The restaurant had a lovely vibe with great music loud enough to create an atmosphere but not loud enough to spoil conversation. The staff were very welcoming, especially our waitress ( i forget her name but she was really pleasant). The food was really excellent too and we both enjoyed our choices and I think it was reasonably priced, especially considering it was NYE. My only gripe, which was more my wife's than mine, was that we were seated in the wine bar rather than the main restaurant. Given as we had booked so far in advance, that was a little disappointing however, it dis not spoil our evening. The service was quick enough that we did not feel we were waiting yet slow enough that we did not feel rushed. We also sat with a coffee for quite sometime until we were told that the table was booked out for other guests. By this time it was around 10:15 so we had no issues with this. A really positive experience from food, to service and nice staff. A memorable NYE all round.

We went last night at 7.45 for a meal for three .The young lady that served us was excellent. I even call the manager/ possibly the owner and said this to her .Because people are quick to complain but not quick with compliments to young people. By the way the food was excellent 👌

This was our second time dining in Lucia. The pulled beef risotto is amazing. It's very flavourful and tasty. Service was fast both times we visited. We will come again the next time we are in York. It's good to know that our favourite dish, the pulled beef risotto is on the menu all year round. 😋

Top quality Argentinian rib eye steak. Cooked to perfection. Highly recommend Shout out to proprietors Osman and Ozgur for keeping the bar high with quality, service and atmosphere.

Very smart and sharp looking Italian of a decent size but best to book. We did so, but got a naff table by end of the bar area. Despite very good food from an impressive separate vegan menu way more options than most tbf) the service was very lacking. Don't get me wrong, lady server was lovely and excellent but probably had too much of a section to look after / dumped on so not her fault. We were ignored with finished dishes just laying in front of us on both courses for ages. Drinks missed too (comped later so fair enough). Would have stayed longer for dessert and coffee but could not stand the pointless wait and being ignored. NO check backs at any point. Really? Spoke to a male(a manager?)at billing - we had to get up to pay as no one was coming to us, never a great sign who was very understanding and agreed with my concerns and based on how successful this place is maybe it's just one of those shifts. It happens. But I really wouldn't want to be dumped at the end of the bar if we ever returned and not really rushing to do so.

Went to Lucia with my partner today and unfortunately had one of the worst Italian meals in a long time. The establishment is nice but the food is way way under par. The scary thing is if an Italian can’t do a simple pizza correctly it speaks volumes, steak cremated, pizza soggy, veg undercooked … not worth the money and would never comeback. Much better places in York to have Italian that doesn’t have to entice customers into a false sense of security through the decor.

The food and staff were excellent. What spoilt the evening was being asked to leave our table after 1hour and 25mins as another couple had been booked in. We didn't even have time for a coffee or after dinner drink. It has put me off returning.

The place is lovley for the fin diner or network, food is amazing as well. but the service for the drinks are a little slow.

My partner and I came here Sunday evening on the off chance of getting a table as we stumbled across this stunning place Friday when we visited York for the weekend mini break and it was packed. The ambience is amazing, staff are so attentive and the food was outstanding and the prices are so reasonable. We loved this place! The muscles starter were beautiful, came served in their own crock pot with a lid. My partner wanted the Prawns starter with no chilli, nothing was too much trouble. The Roast Beef was outstanding. Please bring one to Great Yarmouth.

Called last night & firstly I had to ask a member of staff could we order after being there 30 mins.Starters came cold & my wife's starter was the wrong meal,got through the mains & the puddings came out cold.we complained & we weren't the only people complaining either.We were given a £25 voucher for next visit.We travel to York & stay every year for our Anniversary but this experience was very poor & also toilets were dirty with tissue overflowing the bin I could go on & on but very poor service.

A family weekend in York we pre booked in advance for dinner Food , Service ( from Will ) Atmosphere fantastic. Great wine ( which were the same wines as our restaurant) Alfresco dining for late November very cosy and comfortable ( blankets provided) Great surroundings Look forward to coming back when next in York Grazie

Always head to Lucias for lunch when we're in York. Never fails to delight. Staff are fabulous, nothing is to much trouble. Food is lovely, ambience is stylish and very welcoming, surroundings and facilities are spot on. Advisable to make a reservation otherwise you may have to wait a while for a table. So many great places to dine in York but Lucias is definitely our "go to."

Visited for a joint 50th and 60th birthday lunch. The service and food was on point. We added the concierge option which was an additional £20 per person but well worth it if you are there for a special occasion. The attention to detail and the attention given was first rate. Our host was Alex and she made our visit joyous and it definitely will be memorable.

Serious disappointment for a restaurant that presents itself well. The dining room was cold because it was outside with a tent roof. To heat, very hot lamps are turned on directly above your head. Almost two hours! we waited for our food. After almost two hours, a risotto arrived that wasn't a risotto at all, but a loveless rice dish packed into a deep plate. The waitress didn't even manage to open the expensive wine for us (screw cap), let alone put the wine in our glasses. It was also up to us to refill the drink. Sad service for good money.

First time visiting Lucia; welcome from chap not so friendly moody in fact but very attentive waiter. Delicious olives and bread basket followed by seafood linguine and paccheri arrabiata with Italian sausage (extra). All amazing and top quality 👌 Thoroughly recommend. Finished off with two espressos, unfortunately served luke warm but quickly replaced by our lovely waiter. Will definitely visit again, so much to choose from on the menu 😋

We spent all day enjoying lovely York. Overall a dissatisfying poor experience. The food was cooked but only simply. Not recommendable. Expensive nonsense for very little. My friends were also there is a chef says this was awful. His restaurant would have resolved the disappointment with the customer. But not here they were not interested. Looking around other diners also looked dissatisfied. Portions were simple, plain and below value. We also asked for other fixed menu selections but were advised they were not available. Chicken Milanaise size was ok, small rocket salad and ramekin of mayo, main course was not. Could not taste any seasoning, bland. Friends main courses were similarly 'short' portions on 'bowl plates'. Should have included pasta and extra, you have to purchase separately! When pasta is so cheap why can't they provide decent portion to satisfy customers? Other places do! Imagine what the starters are like! Waiter was cold service and really should not be in this industry. We could not leave fast enough. We 'smacked' the money to them and went to another quality restaurant. We watched them cash up quietly. The ambiance is great but is not going to leave you satisfied, don't be fooled. The food should be good and feed you. Poor quality go elsewhere. Lucia's could at least provided a decent meal of quality, quantity and value. Our experience with other restaurant's in York left us feeling satisfied for similar price. We are not poor but we know when it's not worth it! This is a shameless place. No apology is good enough especially after taking our money. We spent good money elsewhere. No weasel words from the owner can rectify this. We can go back to York but not here. Make up your own minds.

the christmas market pasta was average at best. couldn’t taste the parmesan from the wheel on the pasta at all and then on top they put lower quality parmesan on top to cut corners and costs. Very overrated and disappointed

Stunning restaurant and amazing food. So glad we found this beautiful restaurant. Great food, great service and a wonderful selection of wines and champagne.

went out to meet family, had the best experience. the hot honey pizza was gorgeous! staff were brilliant from the door to the servers. so friendly and warm. will deffo be back! recommended to all my friends!
