I believe that a top quality genuine Italian pizza is one of the most enjoyable foods at any price. Sadly most pizzas served in England tend to be soggy, doughy and have to be ordered as an 'American Hot' to taste of anything. I shared my apprehensions in advance and was assured that Lucca served proper Italian pizza, using fresh, hand made pizza dough and the best fresh ingredients as toppings. The result exceeding my expectations! the crust was exactly as I had hoped—light, crisp and delicious. I chose prosciutto—generous, tasty and topped with rocket and shaved parmesan. Absolutely superb! My friend chose the calzone (filled with pepperoni, tomato and chilli), he said it was the best calzone he had ever had! (he's a keen foodie, so that is praise indeed). The location, in pretty old building on Wendover High St, is convivial and full of character (if a little cramped) and the service was relaxed, warm and friendly. If you're struggling to find a decent pizza and are within 20 miles of Wendover, go right away. You won't regret it! PS: My only reservation was the background music (something melodious and Italian would complement the food rather better than heavy rock).

My father won a £50 voucher at his grandsons school summer fair, unfortunately due to unforeseen family circumstances we hadn’t managed to use it quite in time of its expiration… we contacted you and you were still happy to accommodate us, today my sister and I had a lovely lunch, in a beautiful spot in the restaurant, thank you for looking after us….

My 10-year old daughter and I had an early dinner here last weekend; super environment, very upbeat and friendly staff on arrival! Food came very quickly which doesn’t always fill me with confidence that food is being as fresh as it could be. Lasagne could’ve done with more meat sauce and the salad was a little lacklustre, but my daughter’s meatball spaghetti was very nice and she adored the dough balls! Staff were attentive and super friendly and I’d give it another shot if I was in the area again.

A very enjoyable meal for two on a Saturday night. Service was excellent and friendly. I had the Milanese burger which was superb! Parking was conveniently opposite in the main car park.

This was our first visit to Lucca and a very good experience. If you want traditional pizza, this is the place to come, as good as any of the top places in London. The calamari, starter and meatballs were pretty good too. If they would just sort the music out, it would be a perfect place to come regularly. You’re an Italian restaurant play Italian music! I don’t want to come out and listen to rock and pop whilst I’m trying to have a relaxing dinner, leave that music to a bar, pub or club but other than that, I will definitely be back to try some of the pasta dishes as they also look very classic. The menu is a little limited but if the other dishes are as good as what we had, then I don’t mind.

My daughter and I visited Lucca yesterday for a light lunch, firstly they advertised a dish on their board outside the restaurant (a antipasti dish)which the waitress said no longer exists and she’d report it to the manager. The chicken in my Caesar salad was tough as old boots and I couldn’t eat it, the waiter said he would tell the chef, we heard nothing back. My daughter said the bun with the Milanese burger had a weird texture. The chips that came with it tasted like they’d been cooked in old cooking oil. She ordered a pot of tea and milk jug had a dirty mark in it. Looking at the previous reviews made by others, it makes me think the chef may have changed by the time we visited. I would not recommend nor would we visit there again.

Very surprised by all the other positive reviews. This is definitely not an authentic traditional Italian restaurant. It felt like the food was bought in. Our bruschetta starter, was two slices of plain bread, with chopped tomato on top. No garlic or balsamic sauce dressing. The spaghetti carbonara was oily with only a few pieces of bacon. The servers, although friendly were extremely young and seemed nervous coming to the table. As we were finishing off our meal, someone was actively washing and throwing cutlery around. Must be a kitchen near where we sat. So an expensive, not worth the value dinner. Not somewhere I would recommend or visit again.

We had a fabulous meal . Italian restaurant with traditional Italian meals . Well worth a visit . The staff were friendly and attentive but not overly . The food was tasty , wine good selection and atmosphere was good .

Avoid this place if you're in a large group. We had booked for a table of 15 of us, and it took half an hour for us to even get food menus. Apparently they had "run out" despite the restaurant having plenty of empty tables. The service all round was poor including having to chase up drinks and not being offered any after the first round. It took nearly 2 hours for us to finish just one course. The food itself is decent but it's not worth the hassle. This is not the first time we've had issues as a larger group.

Just had a takeaway, ordered it when we arrived and a drink whilst we waited. The food (3 pizza and a seafood spaghetti) was excellent. Best takeaway we’ve had for a while! Thank you!

We had a wonderful evening when I took friends for dinner to celebrate my birthday. The food was all delicious , with generous portions, freshly made. The wine list is very good and the service excellent. With comfortable seating and a lovely atmosphere, who could ask for more? The birthday candle in my tiramisu was a delightful touch. My guests had not been before, and thoroughly enjoyed it. We will all be back!

Saturday afternoon pizza! Looking forward to doing this again.

Ventured in here for a bit of scran before having a few drinks in the surrounding pubs. Very much a modern Italian restaurant, inside the atmosphere was spot on and we couldn’t help but spot the quality of the food, in particular the Pizzas! Ordering from a set menu on a Wednesday night, I opted for the Deep Fried Squid (nicely cooked), which was served with a good Tartar Sauce. I then, obviously, went down the Pizza route, deciding on the Regina (Ham and Mushroom) in the end. Honestly, as good a Pizza as I’ve had when dining out - pretty much perfection! With Birra Moretti on tap, it was a great all-round meal. By far the best meal I’d had on a three day visit in the Wendover area. Would visit again without hesitation.

I visited in 2018 and 2019 when standards were higher. The food is above average but not exceptional. However, where the restaurant is lacking is that its menu/wine list has products which are not available. For example, they no longer stock the Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. And the Birra Moretti is no longer available despite being listed on the drinks list. They also don’t stock tomato juice which one would normally expect a restaurant to have. It’s a little annoying to request items only to be told “we no longer have that” which happened on three items during 2 recent visits. There are less patrons also no doubt due to deterioration and it’s therefore lacking in atmosphere. It’s a shame because the food I’ve had is 4/5.

Lovely place, went for lunch, pasta was lush

Waited for service about 30mins then another 30mins for starter to arrive then even longer for main course. The food was poor main course unbelievably spicy too hot to eat.

How disappointed were we when we booked a table for four at this restaurant. The meal and staff were adequate but the unpleasant smell that was around us was slightly disturbing. After finishing our meal we spotted behind my chair dog poo which I did not step in yet could have easily done so. On making this aware to the staff a man, presumably the manager, although he did not say who he was informed us that they are a dog friendly restaurant and are not responsible for the dogs that come to the restaurant with their owners! Surely the staff should not only clear the tables but also do a sweep around the area of where their customers are eating to see if the floors need cleaning after being occupied with customers? The manager? offered us a free drink when we were leaving and quite honestly did not seem that concerned about what had happened, refuting responsibility as a restaurant that has dog poo on the floor behind the chair where we were eating. God knows how I did not step in it when I pulled back my chair to leave. I have never had anything like this happen before when visiting dog friendly restaurants and pubs as have dogs myself, as do the other people with me. We will not be going back there as the way the problem was handled did not help customer satisfaction, the incident was handled badly and the response seemed flippant when considering the effect it had on us all!

Easy to get to, as it is on the high St, over from then local carpark. I was with my 80 year old mother for a latish lunch. A nice table by the window where we could people watch. It was v quiet. The food was very good with a fully loaded pizza and salmon for mum. Portion sizes were good and both our plats were empty at the end. Whilst efficient service was evident we missed out on pudding as they were closed after lunch - unfortunately no one told us.

Lucca Bar and Restaurant was a wonderful meal out. We had a lovely server called Saffron who was amazing and didn’t stop being helpful to make sure we had the best meal. The food was also exemplary as well as the cheery hazel who welcomed us at the door. Would 100% go again as long as Saffron is serving us!

Shared a lovely evening with my neighbour at a table by the window. Our waitress, Beatrice was very attentive but never hurried us, even though we took a while to decide on our order. I had the Milanese chicken burger, which was perfectly cooked and presented. Fries were excellent. Dessert was white chocolate cheesecake, again beautifully presented and just the right amount. Lucca is in a beautiful old building and has managed to keep a country charm with a modern enough decor. There was music in the background that allowed easy conversation without having to shout at each other. Would definitely go back as the pizzas and pasta looked intriguing as they were carried past...

We really enjoyed our visit to Lucca. The staff were friendly and efficient and knowledgeable about my husband’s gluten-free requirements. The food was great. Everywhere was very clean, including the toilets.

Very disappointing, it was a cold evening out and was cold in the restaurant there was no atmosphere, no music not even a candle on the table. We did get tap water (we asked for it) drinks and wine as we were looking at the menu three different waiters asked for our order one after the other when we said we weren't ready. The food very disappointing my starter calamari was on although i don't know why tartar sauce was served with it, two had bruschetta they said was 'ok'. Well mains caesar salad was literally iceberg lettuce with chicken on the top, pizza was soggy, my spaghetti and meatballs was nothing special, my partner had ravioli he said was ok, we had to ask for salt and pepper, we had to ask for parmesan that the waiter put on our food rather than leave it so we could help ourselves, also had to ask for a spoon for my spaghetti they brought a dessert spoon! Desert we had a chocolate brownie that was really a very dry chocolate cake, we asked for another bottle of wine that didn't turn up but was on the bill. They took it off, apologized and offered us free drinks next time we go, but we won't be going back.....this place needs a good manager! Also the menu was very odd/hard to understand and not very Italian

The lady serving us was polite but didn’t really know what she was doing as she was new but the man was quite rude also it was very queit and they forgot are order and when we went to tell them they said we already had it even though we didn’t

Worst Italian restaurant we’ve ever experienced. At first when you walk in it looks like a pub, which made sense in the end cause the wine and drinks were the only good part… The food was very disappointing, very tasteless and the worst part was the buns and the pizza dough which were hard as a rock and you could tell they’d been microwaved. The meats weren’t cooked right and the side salad was clearly a mixed salad you buy from Tesco, it had no dressing and definitely not worth 5 pounds… It’s extremely overpriced and I hate to say this because I’m a waitress myself but the girl that was serving us had no knowledge at all of the dishes and didn’t seem to care either. I also noticed that the people around us were barely eating their pizza because by the looks of it, it looked stale and unappealing. The price is just ridiculous…shame as it was our anniversary but we’ll know for next time to go to Tres Corazones up the road!

We wanted to give this Italian a go because we love Italian food. The atmosphere was nice - really lovely building on the inside. The majority of the waiting staff were helpful and friendly. Having said that, we were only offered still or sparkling water, no tap water, and so we were charged for a still water that we didn't want. I ordered the pasta, tomato sauce and chilli - it looked very tasty, although there were so many chillies that I kept coughing and my mouth was burning. My partner ordered the pizza, which was tasty, although the onions were raw. There is parmesan cheese that is just left on the side of the restaurant with no covering, which I don't think is hygienic. We had desserts which were nice, although a bit too sweet. The waitress said the manager mixed up our order and so instead of just having a sorbet with the brownie, I got vanilla ice cream as well. When we got the bill, they gave us another customer's bill and so we had to ask for the right one. The waitress was very apologetic. When we went to the toilets, they were not very clean at all. I went past the kitchen on the way which looked rather disorganised too. We were a bit pushed for time and did not want to spoil the evening, so we didn't complain. This place has a lot of potential, although unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. We won't be returning.

My son took me here for my birthday and I have to say I was very disappointed. The menu is minimal and there wasn’t really a lot of choice. I chose the seafood spaghetti which had calamari in. Unfortunately the calamari had not been cleaned...

Little Italy. Lucca is a lovely restaurant on the Wendover High Street. The staff are young and very helpful nothing is too much trouble. It is pet friendly and they will happily supply a drinking bowl. Normally dogs are allowed on the ground floor but in some exceptions we'll behaved can go to the upstairs level. The food is excellent and so are the couces on he expansive wine list. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant for all ages.

Went there this evening, very friendly staff and food was lovely, good size servings as well. My young grandson was impressed with his pizza being ‘bigger than his head’ Will definitely go there again.

We visited for a birthday celebration. We both ordered tuna steak with a side of fries and salad. The ‘steak’ was not a tuna steak it was minced tuna shaped into a patty/burger, the salad was limp and had too much dressing whilst the fries...

Not a great experience, unfortunately. The staff is not trained, I had a feeling that everyone was new in hospitality. They were constantly coming in to clear the table and almost forcing us to pay and leave. We thought it was the closing time but there were other diners in the restaurant, just as we were getting out, some people walked in for drinks. So, we were really confused why they were rushing. Food wasn't great either. I won't visit again

Real let down. Staff all said they were new and it felt like it! £100 for a meal for 2, I was hoping for more. So many issues to list! Icing on the cake was ordering the cheese board and when told they had no caramelised onion relish I told them I was happy with more chutney.......... I was served a dish of honey with no crackers!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! SIMPLY HOPELESS! Best of going to Bella Italia!

Lucca is the first place where I went out for dinner with my partner - I was very excited as I knew they updated the menu.I ordered the burrata for starter which was amazing, very creamy, and the pesto worked perfect within the dish. My partner had dough balls for starter - they were cooked at perfection and the garlic butter was to die for! Then for main I had the new homemade ravioli with sage and butter. They are the best homemade ravioli I tried in a long time. We just had an affogato between us, and it was the perfect way to end the evening.

We were looking forward to our first dinner out following lockdown. The venue and staff were lovely... the starters were fine. The pizza was very wet and floppy... sadly The seafood pasta arrived with overcooked squis and closed mussels. Pudding was nice... the waitress did not ask why nearly full plates were going back... we actually couldn't be bothered to discuss it..... it should have been noticed and addressed.

We had a leaflet through the door so decided to support a local business and ordered a takeaway. When we collected we were told the prices were incorrect on the menu so charged more than we expected ..... so not a great start! The pizza was ok but not outstanding. The lasagne was very disappointing, it was all pasta with little tomato sauce and a couple of small bits of meat so very dry and we also ordered chips which were over cooked and solid. We visited the Lucca resturant last night. The resturant was fairly quiets and well spaced out so we felt very safe. The food was wonderful and the staff were attentive but not pushy. They did a great menu 2 x courses with a drink for £15 which was well worth it. I will definitely go again

Main is quite broad with some good vegan and veggie options. The service was great. I would recommend the place if you happen to be nearby
