This place shut down, it was rare to find a somewhat independent restaurant within a shopping centre. The food here was great. I'll definitely miss it.

The burger I received had a sauce that seemed to replicate vomit... Expensive steak on the menu but if seen in the shops you'd mistake it for the cheap £2 frying steak. On The other hand the oysters tasted fresh and the wine was crisp.

After our family shopping we have decided to have our dinner in Westfield shopping centre, we were looking for a good place to eat our dinner. Most of them are fast food base restaurant. We have seen the LPDJ. The menu was good then we have decided to come in. we were got a round table. We were really hungry; we all ordered different dishes .we were impressed with the quality of the food and portion sizes. We ordered lobster and stake as our main course. They know how to cook the stake. To be honest lobster was so good and fresh and tasty it was really complete meal with calamari. We ordered bottle of red and white wine too. Stuff was so friendly and helpful. After finished our mail we order liquor coffee which was so good. I would come here again

I visited this restaurant with my friend on Thursday last week. At first glance the restaurant looks stylish and chic if a little quiet for 9pm on a Thursday evening. Thee advertised lobster though so I was in hook line and sinker! It all started off fairly ok and we placed our order for lobster - of course. About 5 minutes after placing the order we are informed that they have only one lobster left so we need to choose another meal, not a problem, these things happen. We decide to order the mussels which is only served as a starter portion so request they give us a double portion so that we can have it as a main, with fries on the side. After explaining the concept of turning a starter into a main for approximately another 5 minutes the waiter finally understand the concept...explaining for another 5 minutes that we will need to pay double - well bloody yes, we didn't expect it to be any other way! A reasonable amount of time goes by before our food is served. And low and behold, we receive a starter mussels! When asking the waiter if it's a main, he respond with NO but I gave you a couple extra at no cost...why thank you very much but not what I asked for now is it? We request that he please serve us another portion which he grudgingly does. The fries, well the fries...they must have run out of that too. Oh and the cutlery which one needs for to actually eat a lobster must have gone on a walk also because, after a number of requests, that never made an appearance either. So after all the stares and glares from the waiter we finish our meal but having shared a few mussels and half a lobster each we felt a little dissatisfied and in need of a just a tiny touch more food...this is where the fun starts! We ask the waiter if we can have another starter portion of mussels (all things being equal, the mussels were pretty darn good) he stares at us and asks why we need more food 'uhm because we are paying customers' he then proceeds to tell us that the chef will shout at him and why didn't we order everything together, what is wrong with us and haven't we had enough?! How could we possibly want to order more food etc etc etc. So, after him arguing with us for over 5 minutes we kindle ask him to please just leave and fulfill our order - not a chance - he comes back and says we cant have the mussels as they have only 8 left! Ok, no problem, bring us the 8 you have left....more stares, grunts and rudeness and finally we ask if we could please speak with the manager - low and behold, he states that he is the manager! Now, I have worked in restaurants and have never ever thought about talking to a customer like that, especially not a customer who orders food and is willing to pay over and above the asking prize to get said food. You are all thinking, darling...you probably eat too much BUT I kid you not, we are two small girls with standard consumption needs however THIS restaurant and its apparent manager is unlike anything I have ever experience or ever wanted to experience again. The rudeness and argumentativeness was without parallel...a real shame as the food was actually pretty decent! Couldn't find a customer service number online hence my first ever tripadvisor rant aka essay!

Came her for a birtday dinner after a bit of birthday shopping. The steaks were a bit cheaper than the steak place a few doors down, so we thought we would give LPDJ ago and we were pleasantly suprised. Where else can you get a whole lobster, medallion of beef fillet with several different sides for less than £30? They must have learnt from previous reviews as the lobster tasty, and was not rubbery. The steak was well cooked. The wine was good too. Staff were very attentive and the food came out fast. Although everyone elses dishes looked great, Id definately recommend this place for the grilled lobster alone.

This has to be our worst dining experience ever! Do not be fooled by the interior and welcoming greeting on arrival. Steer clear! My husband and I walked in from Westfield shopping centre at about 7:45 pm on Saturday 21st March. We were greeted with a smile and seated, however that is where the pleasantness of the experience ended. We ordered pan fried prawns as starters and lobster mains. The prawn starter arrived a little less warm than ideal, drizzled with decent garlic butter, and whole - i.e. With head and shell on and not butterflied. On noticing that the prawns were not butterflied my husband asked the waiter to inform the chef to butterfly the prawns that were to accompany his lobster main, to which the waiter replied that it is not possible to butterfly tiger prawns. This should have been our first warning sign of what was to come but we decided to overlook it at the time and assign it to lack of knowledge or understanding of the request. Soon after I found that something was wrong with one of the 5 prawns in my starter (and typically the last one on my plate) as it tasted extremely bitter. I left it to the side of my plate clearly away from the other heads and shells, clearly peeled and uneaten but when the waiter collected my plate he did not think to ask if there was something wrong with it. The mains never even fully arrived. My husband's lobster main with un-butterflied prawns arrived with the lobster part of the lobster box of my order, followed by the salad part of my lobster box two minutes later; however the fries part of the lobster box never arrived. By the time we finally managed to wave down the waiter to enquire about the fries and to ask for some slices of lemon and table salt I was already 3/4 way through my main, to which he pointed out that there was therefore no point in getting me the fries. The lemon slices arrived after I was done with my main, and the table salt never came. We would have informed a waiter, manager or owner of our dissatisfaction had anyone cared to ask, so we paid and left. This is by far the worst £70.00 that we have ever spent. The only good thing about the place is it's close proximity to Ben's Cookies, which after an unsatisfactory dinner we stopped off for consolatory cookies.

Went there today my daughters took me for Mothers Day lunch. We have gone there for the last 3 years. On arrival our booking had not been taken but we got a table. We waited for ages to get our starter, I had the smoked salmon which used to have the potato fish cake size this year it's meatball size. We had a sullen waiter who only smiled upon payment!!!! We then waited and waited for our main, my daughter and I had lamb mine was a tough as boots I could not eat it my daughters was very fatty she could not eat it. When the bill came we had a £1per person charge we asked what was that for "it's for the bread & butter" but we didn't have it so we asked for it to be removed also the service charge at 12.5% as we did not enjoy the meal. To my horror the waiter then said if we don't pay this he will have to out of his money! We informed him that was illegal but he kept saying it. I don't know if this was a ploy to make us pay it - We didn't and left. Unfortunately we will never go there again and I will not recommend it to anyone. I've eaten in a lot of London restaurants including top ones and Never been asked for a £1 per head charge on top of discretionary charge. I think the manager of this restaurant should be ashamed. Just like the review that states he served a SAINSBURY FINEST bottle of wine for £38 customer caught him out then the manager disappeared pretty much says it all. Shame it used to be a lovely place to go to but not anymore.

My daughter and I stumbled across this restaurant yesterday, 7th March 2015, having walked out of the Lebanese restaurant next door. This is not a halal restaurant however they have sufficient fish dishes to accommodate halal diets. They do serve alcohol but are religiously and culturally sensitive which I really appreciated. We went into this restaurant as we saw an Egyptian family tucking into seafood, which included the biggest lobster I have ever seen, with gusto. In the restaurant another family (husband, wife and baby in buggy) were also enjoying seafood - the wife literally demolishing a huge lobster - all to herself and all by herself! You can tell if people are enjoying their food and these two families were absolutely going for it with the lobster which they were clearly loving. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and reminded me of being in a restaurant in a 5* hotel somewhere in the middle east which was nice. The waiters were great and there was a man, possibly a share holder or owner, who paid particular attention to our needs. We order scallops as a starter and he sensitively advised it came with bacon however the chef would modify this dish for us. Sensitively recognising pork is not acceptable for Muslims. I totally appreciated that. The scallops were great, cooked to perfection but not overcooked.I did not order the lobster (we were there for a late lunch) but will next time. We had fish and chips which was on offer therefore not on their set menu. It was by far the most crispy, lightest batter I have ever tasted with cod that flaked upon touch. This came with fries, cooked perfectly and freshly made tartar sauce - the best I have ever tasted. We enjoyed two orange fizzes our first drinks made by the 'share holder' and follow up ones made by the waiters. All were uniform in composition and tasted great. Portion sizes were excellent, cutlery and plates did not need to be checked over. The fresh bread was exactly that - just out of the oven fresh bread with real butter. The bread was not required as the food came before we could finish that gorgeous crusty fresh bread.Other diners appeared happy, relaxed and at ease. Two young women with their shopping, a young couple, two young men enjoying al fresco and the two families demolishing the lobster. The establishment was quiet but it was 4pm so past lunch time and not yet time for dinner. Low level activity by was observed. Chef brought dishes out and waiters swiftly collected and served - this is why the food was piping hot. Tables swiftly cleared, all tables laid with silver service settings. This is a formal restaurant not a canteen. Your starter plates and cutlery will be removed at the end of your first course - not everything just left dumped on your table. We had two courses. Desert was not taken due to a calorie controlled diet and the meal being a very late lunch. We will absolutely return again as the food, service and prices were good. A service charge was added automatically however this is one of the rare occasions, dining out in London, that I have not had cause to dispute it and it was paid with pleasure. While there are some negative reviews on Trip Advisor regarding this restaurant - I am, by far, a very picky customer and have absolutely no fault where this restaurant is concerned. When I return it will be during a quiet time as this is a large restaurant so service may slip when they are running at full capacity. Also I am looking forward to demolishing a super huge lobster without too many onlookers.

I would not recommend anyone spending their hard earned cash in LPDJ. We went in as a party of four after work and although the place wasn't busy they still took 20 minutes to seat us. Once seated we were treated as children who had never been out to eat before. I have been to many restaurants in London and around the world and I have never been treated so bad. I rarely write bad reviews unless they are warranted and this one definitely was !!!

My wife and I came in on a Friday night having struggled to get a table at another restaurant and being too hungry to wait for one. We were initially a bit unsure as there weren't many people in there, but we liked the look of the menu and thought we would give it a chance - We were absolutely delighted with the outcome! The food was absolutely excellent. Read any of my other views and you might think I can be a bit harsh, but fair play, they really hit this one out of the park. I had Salmon and my wife had lobster with tiger prawns. The salmon was fresh, cooked perfectly and the potato cake it came with was excellent. The lobster was amazing (I stole a claw and a couple of prawns) and my wife said it was the best she had ever had. If I was going out of my way to be hyper-critical then I would say that the side of dauphinoise potatoes could have been creamier, but we enjoyed everything else so much that I couldn't really care less. It's not ridiculously cheap, but we had a great bottle of wine, lobster with prawns, salmon with side order, coffee and service for £80 and given how much we enjoyed the meal I would say it was great value for London. The service was very attentive and the decor was very smart and elegant -Romantic without being OTT. Perfect atmosphere for what we wanted. I do wonder if the service would have been as good had they been busy, but I will gladly go back when more people are there to give them the chance to impress again. We had a great time and will definitely be going again. They really know how to do fish/seafood and we know how hard that is to find in central London! I strongly recommend giving it a try - get the lobster!

I've eaten here before about 2 years ago and I loved it. This time round I was more than disappointed, our lobster was cold and tasted like it was off, the rice was cold, the calamari was nice and the salad was wilted and turning brown. THE SERVICE!!! We where rushed as we came at 10pm although closing is listed at 12pm everywhere we looked. When the bill came I asked to remove the service charge as I would rather give the tip to the waiter. He then told me I had to pay service charge when by law I know I don't and it also stated on the menu it was discretionary. He then became rather argumentative about it, for the prices the service and food leave a lot to be desired and the miserable older Asian guy who was there when I visited 2 years ago cheer up. The final straw was when we left we said goodbye and where totally ignored.

If you are thinking of visiting this restaurant... DON'T!! The manager "Ahsan" was very rude and argumentative, when we complained that the lobster did not taste right. When we complained his initial response was " just carry on eating" which is when we really kicked up a fuss. For a restaurant claiming to be fine dinning I really expected more. But our nightmare experience didn't there, as the "dodgy tasting lobster" was actually bad and gave us serious food poisoning. You can be sure I will not be returning and nor will I ever recommend anyone to go there. Complete waste of money and poor service.

Got seated and was served bread that had been chilled. Ordered cocktails - an old fashioned and a gin and tonic. The old fashioned was prepared by shaking the drink - incorrect. The gin and tonic was served with lime cordial and no tonic. Sent the g&t back but suffered through the old fashioned. By then we had already ordered our meals - rib eye steak medium rare and a whole lobster. The rib eye resembled a minute steak and was medium well with virtually no seasoning. I brought this to the waiter's attention and I was assured it was a rib-eye (it wasn't) and that the chef had a timer. I would have sent it back but I didn't want the urine steak. The lobster was overdone and they failed to provide a cracker until 15 minutes after the lobster was served. This was pointed out to the waiter and we were told that the chef had a timer. Even the vegetables were limp and bland. The waiter came with the bill and asked if everything was okay. I reiterated each problem that we had with the meal. And he mentioned the timers again and that the g&t had been replaced. I shook my head and paid the bill with no service. Visited the toilet and the toilet paper dispenser was broken and unrolled toilet paper rolls covered a portion of the floor. Thought we might be on some kind of candid camera TV show how comically bad everything was executed.

Not even worth a visit! Staff were disgustingly rude and even had the Gumption to argue with me in front of my friend because I refused to pay a £6 service charge for simply bringing a plate to the table! The little waiter thought it acceptable to argue, raise his voice and make an absolute show of himself! For a company that claims to offer fine dining Id question the direction of the brand! As with most of the of the negative reviews on trip advisor the 'cover charge' for bread and butter is snuck onto the bill without being offered to the customer! We ordered 2x £25 steaks and what came to the table was a fatty, gristlly poor excuse for a sirloin steak followed by a hugely watery pepper corn sauce which taated of nothing! Once I complain having finished the meal as it had taken so long to come to the table the waiter said to me 'why didn't you just complain at the beginning'I shall never return to this disgusting excuse for a restaurant and I wouldn't encourage others to either!!!

Went there for lunch and it was dead quiet which is a bit weird for a Westfield restaurant (now I know why). Food was not really good (scallops were very bitter, chicken overcooked, rubbery prawns..); on the bright side, steak tartare apparently was good. Did not complain nor let the server know we did not like the main as he did come to check if everything was fine when we actually had already stopped eating (a bit too late for a satisfaction check). Dessert lists offered, being a sweet tooth I opened it full of hope (maybe a good dessert would have make me forget about the poor main) and what i found was 3 very dirty A4 sheets that clearly have seen many many diners before me! This sadly washed any hope away, so no dessert. Overall poor and weird experience sourrounded by an extremely sad atmosphere (staff not engaging nor smiling not even to each other). Clearly not good value for money as I've been in cheaper places that offer spotless menus, bubbly staff & good food. Also: Le Palais Du Jardin (The Garden's Palace)... Dined here tonight with a friend. The restaurant was not too busy, but then again it was fairly late on a Saturday. It took a couple of minutes to be seated even though there were few tables occupied. We then waited for 25 minutes before I had to actively ask someone whether we could have our order taken. The food was decent, but after we finished no-one came to ask if we wanted anything else, so we just sat until we asked for the bill. It was just a bit strange being completely ignored by staff once seated in a restaurant that was quite clearly adequately staffed and not busy at all.The male bathroom was also disgusting. Toilet paper on the floor and non in either stall. Both stall toilets were left unflushed, and 2 of the 3 sinks were filled to the brim with vomit from someone who had clearly had too much red wine. All in all this was not a good restaurant experience and I can see why it was emptier than everywhere else in Westfield. I would hesitate to return in the future.

Went here for a mid week lunch with a friend. We were drawn to LPDJ by the seafood specials on the board outside. Both the tiger prawn starters (one pan-fried in garlic, one with penne in a tomato and pepper sauce) were delicious as was the main of seafood fricassee in a lobster sauce. Service and ambiance excellent, although it has to be said there were not many customers. I must say that if we'd read some of the previous reviews, we may not have given it a go but we are glad that we did. We couldn't fault it and both the food and wine were good value for money. The only downside I would say is the dingy rear when going to the toilets. The loos themselves were pretty clean but a door which looked like an emergency exit was propped open with a supermarket trolley and there was a general air of neglect, almost as if it's not on show, it doesn't matter. I'm afraid it does.Nevertheless, We would go there again.

I went there for lunch and the first thing that came to my mind when I walked in was that it reminded me of a 90s "fancy' restaurant. The decor desperately needs to be changed!! The bar is interesting but the whole decoration is too old looking, all I can say is that at least the flowers were real...The table cloth was dirty (many stains on it) and they had just thrown a paper "tablecloth" over that I just made the whole place seem super cheap. The food was OK, nothing exceptional. Service is very old school. The waitress was constantly looking at us to see if we'd finished our plates. They need to give their guests some time and space. The mood was sad and the music really did not help (90s RnB).This restaurant desperately needs a refreshment and new management. Being French, I can tell you this has nothing to do with authentic French cuisine.

We were seated by the hostess and ordered some tap water, it never came so we tried to distract ourselves with the menu but discovered she had given us three wine lists. We collected our own menus after a while as no waiter even looked at our table. When he did, we asked for water again, and wine. It took 5 minutes to come we should have guessed that our waiter was not engaging his brain that night. We ordered the meal: starters for 2 and mains for 3 (though the main I had contained two plates so one could have been brought as a starter if he'd thought about it. The starters arrived (not mine) in good time and were nice, but then all went dead. We waited and waited while the bus girl poured ALL of our chilled wine into our glasses at once. We called the waiter and he said that because there was an order from a large table the kitchen was slow but the food was coming. Meanwhile people sitting next to us who sat down after us got their food timely. After 10 minutes we called the waiter again and again he said that the food was coming. After another 15 minutes I stood up and went to the waiter and asked if I could speak to the manager, the waiter said that he was in charge and that the food was coming. Then the floor manager came to the table and apologised for the delay and still no food in sight. He had no idea how to make me feel better and he leaned on the wall as if he really did not care. By this point I had had nothing to eat at all . Finally three plates did arrive - my wife's tuna was very good but my lobster was barely decent. We had to ask for a complimentary glass of wine since they didn't offer it and they provided the cheapest, ugliest white wine in their cabinet. Finally, and this nearly made me laugh, the waiter put the service charge on the bill. I think the service was appalling, with no courtesy and no sense of apology. It is mostly to the waiter who doesn't have a clue on how to treat clients in a restaurant. I advise the manager to do some intensive training. And the restaurant to review how many tables they can cook for at once so everyone is served properly

I never usually leave a bad review- I let my feet do the talking. However, when the service is this poor exceptions must be made. First, the staff were rude my to my 8 months pregnant cousin when we asked to be seated. It took over 30 minutes to get two fruit juices and three cokes served! Our orders came without our sides. Then we were told they were coming - they never did. When we complained they told us they were never ordered yet they managed to appear on the bill. When we wanted to complain to the manager about the poor service we were told that he was busy cooking in the kitchen. And that the poor service was because they were busy this evening. If you want lobster go to any burger and lobster restaurant instead - your fries and salad come in the £20 charge. I for one won't ever be returning. Lastly, if you sit outside they allow people to smoke and both urinals in the men's room were out of order. In all a poorly managed excuse for a restaurant.

Went here for our anniversary dinner. Waiting staff very attentive and polite. Did not have to wait long for drinks/food. My partner had the sirloin steak and stated it was one of the best he had ever had and that says a lot as he eats steak regularly. I had Mussels and oysters to start. Mussels were delicious. Although a bit pricey, I would definitely return.

So you've been shopping and you need dinner so why not better than somewhere you we're recommend to by google cause you that kinda person. Well we walk in and we are greeted by a 'butler' aka the manager who took us to the bar because my dad thought it would be nice to have a drink while over dinner but I don't drink because I am to young and this made things difficult but it wasn't where I sat it was the service the problem was there were 4 members of staff out in the restaurant area and the same one not only looked after us but listened so when we questioned about the bill he was there already and he always lingered so this creeped me out and very off putting...but do remember I am young so you can say I am over reacting but I am simply reacting to my experience. For dinner I had a penne pasta with a sauce and cut up veg, it came to me in this huge bowel with a small pile of slightly ( not aldontay) uncooked pasta that was lightly bathed in the sauce, I was told by the waitress that was the size of a main course. After I asked in disbelief, to then find out the bowl had a small dip where the rest of the sauce had drained away. After all that I can conclude that the theme of the restaurant was trying to be 5 or 4 stars with the decor and the service, I would also like to point out to never go on your own it will be incredibly awkward!!

A pleasant surprise to find this old friend from Covent Garden in a new incarnation at Westfield. (Even includes the splendid bar moved here) Good friendly service and excellent food next to the main concourse. Plenty of other places to eat at in Westfield but we will return to this one. We had plump oysters, crab salad and lobster; not the cheapest selection but all tasty and good value

We decided to stop here for lunch as we hadn't tried lpdj. On first impressions was a good looking restaurant I was enticed by the offer lobster on the menu. Restaurant wasn't busy and it took a waiter at the far end of the restaurant to notice us. We were seated on the right side of the restaurant opposite the bar nice enough table. Given our menus and upon opening it there was a bit of a musty smell. I think it was wiped down and not dried off properly. I liked the choice on the menu. We chose the steak tartare and scallops for starters then the lobster with crab salad and lobster with beef fillet. Over the food was lovely. The bread was warm when put on the table. Now this is the bit that worried me. My boyfriend ordered a st Emilion grand cru and when they came back it was a normal bottle of St emillion. The waiter showed him the bottle and said we don't have the grand cru but this. When he asked the waiter about price the waiter said it's the same. . ?? Boyfriend clearly pointed out it should not be the same price as the grand cru. Asked for the wine list and it clearly was not the same price. We ordered a different red. Personally I do not think the waiters are trained on wines which they should be for a french restaurant. I would say some parts of our experience were questionable not top class service but food good.

We popped to Westfield as we were staying at a hotel nearish as we know there are a few restaurants to choose from - we decided on LPDJ and we were glad we did. We both decided to choose from the set menu (£14.50 for 2 courses) and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought the French onion soup is one of the best I've had. The staff were welcoming and friendly. We will be going back here the next time we are at Westfield or nearby - I thought it was good value for money.

When you go to a restaurant you don't go just for food - you pay for the whole experience. Food served in dirty dishes is a complete NO NO NO and TABU for every place that call themselves restaurant or a cafe. I understand that there might be some things that cannot be fixed because of certain reasons but having shiny and greasy finger prints all over my dish is just disrespectful and careless for your guests. Had really terrible experience. I am not a snob - but carpaccio in a dirty plate doesn't reflect the taste of this wonderful dish. The food loses it's all properties just because it's served in dirt. Image a cake served in a dog bowls . Maybe it's delicious, but cannot valued because if it's presentation. Also my partners dish was greasy and dirty, which I find completely unacceptable. And excuse - "it's just finger prints" by a waiter - is way below my dignity. And it's not just dirty dishes - flower in a vase was completely dead, glasses also with finger prints and towel marks. Not good... Not good at all..

Restaurant decor and ambiance very nice but can't say the same for the food or service !!! Scallop starter for £8.00 you get two the size of a ten pence piece served in a exceptionally large plate which was not too bad. French baguette was not fresh and rather dry. The grilled lobster was overcooked and tough probably boiled first then thrown on the grill and the service was very average and the service was below average and there were no more than 30 customers in the restaurant. One of the waiters had a problem with personal hygiene - body odour !!! Either the Chef needs more training or a new Chef is required cos the restaurant is very much like someone wearing a dinner suit with red socks and a pair of trainers !!! The cost was reasonable but the food and service didn't make it value for money.

This is the fourth time I have been here and sadly, it will be the last. A year or two ago, this was quite a special venue, but it has seriously lost it's way. Concrete butter, dirty menus and cold bread soon give away that this restaurant cannot deliver what the pleasant ambiance of the venue promise. I ordered scallops at eight pounds and laughed when only two arrived in the centre of a plate the size of a dustbin lid. The waiter didn't get the joke. My first glass of wine was spilled by the waiter all over my laptop bag, shopping and self, but wasn't replaced or even topped up. I ordered a £49.95 2006 St.Emilion, but a 2012, (of something which I know is currently on offer at Sainsbury's for £8) arrived. Had I not noticed, they wouldn't have said anything. The manager promised to replace it with 'something special from his wine cellar' and an unimpressive 2010 Pomerol was produced. He clearly thought it was a real treat. It wasn't. The staff all look a bit like they don't know what they are doing, but somehow it's difficult to blame them. Much more likely is that this place's problems stem from the management's belief that their customers are idiots. I would advise you not to be that mug.

I have visited Westfield as well as Covent Garden branch number of times over the years and the food and service are constantly fabulous and the bonus is that I haven't seen much of increase in prices. We opted for 2 course meal offer for under £15.My friend had onion gratin soup while I had smoked salmon. Both very well presented and absolutely delicious, their bread sublimely fresh.Beef stroganoff and fish medley for main, served in a huge stylish plate thus portion looked disguisingly small but it was actually a very decent amount. My fish medley consisted of generous amount of salmon, monkfish and extremely tasty and meaty tuna, absolutely gorgeous. We decided to treat ourselves with the 3rd course, chocolate fudge and cheese platter. My platter was so huge I asked the waiter jokingly if it was for one person, came with bunch of grapes, apple slices, celery sticks, walnuts, salad garnish and of course crackers. Although it was all very lovely, I had to ask my friend to help me finish it! What a bargain for £5.50.I am very full and content, will definitely recommend this place and will keep going back!

My friends, my husband and I went to LPDJ for a celebration lunch. We were there just after 13.00hrs. Only ordered 2 starters, 3 lobsters, and 2 mains. We had to ask a waiter how long we had to wait (that was at 13.40hrs) food finally turned up at 13.45hrs. It was a very long wait, when the restaurant had only 5 other tables occupied at that time. The service was poor, the portions small. We will not be going there again.

I created a Tripadvisor account purely to warn other consumers about this restaurant. My Fiance and I saw this restaurant whilst shopping in Westfield and were attracted by its french style and lovely decor. After we sat down we saw an offer on lobster and both decided to order. The owner (we assume) served us with a smile but that was a good as it got. When the lobster arrived we were left waiting for the right utensils. After struggling to grab the attention of the servers they only gave us 1 set of utensils to share, even though the restaurant was extremely quiet with only about 4 other couples. We asked again and we were still not given the proper equipment meaning that we still had to share the crackers. The lobster was overcooked and dry but we could not get the attention of the staff, nor did they check on us during the meal. After receiving the bill we were shocked to see a mystery amount entitled 'cover charge'. We questioned the waiter who told us that we had to pay it as we had had bread (which we assumed was complementary as we did not order it). The waiter started to get very aggressive and raised his voice at us when we questioned this mystery charge so, taking into account the already poor service, we then asked him to remove the discretionary service charge. He told us that we had to pay it as it 'made up his wages'. This is illegal and we told him so. (Pizza Express was fined heavily for doing this years ago.) We were not going to be bullied so we still refused. He then told my fiancé that we obviously had financial issues! We have never been so insulted in our lives at a restaurant. He also went on to tell us that we were 'obviously in the wrong place and that we didn't understand fine dining' and that 'no one else is having a problem.' Since looking at the other reviews I can see that this has not been the case! After all of this I told the waiter to ring the police if it was so difficult to remove the discretionary charges as I would be more than happy to wait and explain the situation to them. This obviously scared him as he knew we were right and let us pay without the charges and leave. It's a shame as we are always very loyal customers, and when we receive good service, always give more than the service charge.Do not visit.

We visited at 8om on A tuesday evening, wasnt busy and seemed to be plenty of staff. However the service was ridiculously slow and no one seemed to care if we were served or not. Everything we needed we had to catch a waiter/waitress and ask them. For £2 we got 3 tiny pices of stale baugette. We ordered from the set menu and my friends meal arrived 20 minutes before i had to ask for mine. They said the order had been messed up and didnt really apologise, simply made excuses. The food when it did come was bland and the main of chicken prawn and rice rather unpleasant. We asked for the bill as a quick meal had turned into 90 minutes. In true form the bill took ages to arrive and in the end we had to go to the manager to pay. I stated that we wouldnt be paying the service for reasons i started to explain. The manager then told me to shut up and by not paying service it meant I had lost the right to complain! He said what did i expect for a £20 meal. Awful attitude, rude rude man and ive never been so disapointed. Dont visit. Even if you are starving.

We've been to this restaurant a few times in the past and have found the food and service to be reasonable. We've never seen it particularly busy, maybe because we usually eat early evening and so it can be lacking in atmosphere.HOWEVER we walked in early Saturday evening and were seated by the owner / maître d. We have spoken to this gentleman every time we have eaten there and in the past he had been quite pleasant and communicative. This time he was so incredibly rude to my husband that I honestly believed that either I had misheard him or he was joking, but no.. He actually suggested to my husband that if he was such an expert he should become a chef himself and 'make lots of money'.We stupidly stayed rather than walking out, one of the waiters who remembered us from a previous visit made excuses saying that they had had a very busy lunch service which was why the owner was in such an awful mood. From then on the food was mediocre and the service was non-existent. We were served in total by 4 different people, nobody took our wine order and the atmosphere in the place was terrible.I have a suggestion of my own for the owner, if you don't like the business go and do something else!I have waited 3 days before writing this review and am as incensed now as I was then by our treatment.

I've been to LPDJ about 8 times. It used to be a real favourite of mine - especially the seafood platter. Usually the service is a bit slow but polite nonetheless. The food has always tasted nice and has been of a good standard. However I have felt the need to review because the last 2 times I've suffered food poisoning as a result of eating there. I gave them the benefit of the doubt the first time, but it cannot be a coincidence that the last two times I visited has resulted in me vomiting in the night. I have a feeling it is the oysters, which I love and ordered both times. As much as I like the food, I don't think I will return any time soon.

Me and partner went to this restaurant last night for our anniversary... The first impressions were great but very quickly we realised we were being led by false illusions... We were greeted very well by the owner and he also took our order again in a very professional and polite manner making sure we had everything we needed. We had ordered wine which at first I thought was a bit pricey but as it was our anniversary we didn't mind paying a little extra. However it wasn't until I got up to go to the ladies (that were shocking, every cubicle dirty and no toilet paper, soap or hand towels in sight.) that I realised the bottle in the cooler had "taste the difference" around the neck of the bottle, on closer inspection sure it was, a bottle of Sainsbury's wine.... We were disgusted!! The bottle was priced at £38!! £38 FOR A BOTTLE OF SAINSBURY'S WINE!? We asked to see the manager and we told that he had left already, we had already assumed this as the service declined massively towards the end of our meal and the kind man who greeted us in the door was no where to be seen.... There was no check back to check our meals were OK and considering I had a Rib-eye a check back is a must, luckily my steak was cooked to perfection... In fact give praise where praise is due.... The food was very good and that's the only thing that saved our evening. But the state of the toilets, the overpriced bottle of wine from Sainsbury's and the sneaky "cover charge" of £2 each for 2 pieces of bread and butter plus a service charge of just shy of £8 ruined our total experience and we would NEVER return to this restaurant again... The food was good but definitely not worthy of an £80 bill for 2 people!

Went there for Mothers Day and was very disappointed by the visit. When we 1st turned up we were told it would be at least an hour wait to get a table as they were "fully booked" even though they were at less than half pacity. We came back 30 minutes later and we were seated - still with half the restaurant empty. After getting seated it was 20 minutes before our drinks orders were taken and they didnt come for 40 minutes after that - after they did arrive we didn't drink them as they still had a taste of washing up liquid. When we told the waitress she didn't replace them or even apologise, just said she'd tell her supervisor. When ordering what we wanted it wasn't in stock, so we had to order more pricey items. When ordering the minute steak again the waitor said could he interest us in the rib eye instead, when asked if they had sold out of the minute steak he said "I guess so". This is just speculation but I really think he was just trying to get us to order more expensive items. It took us 30 mins to get the bill after having to ask twice for it. We then had to get the soapy beers removed from the tab as they had clearly just ignored it. In all the food was really good but the service was the worst I've ever had at any restaurant, let alone a more pricey one.

Asked to be moved seats and were told they would. However 15 minutes later we were still sitting at a cramped table with over 10 free tables around us. After reminding them 3 times we were finally reseated. Ordered food and had not yet been asked for drinks. Drinks finally came after food had been sitting on the table getting cold for almost 10 minutes. By this time we had witnessed 3 groups leave as they had not yet been seated in the empty 'restraunt'. When my food came it was not what I had ordered. Furthermore when I finally got my lobster and calamari- which was pure grease- it was not warm. The people on the next table had the same problems plus their food being taken away before they had do noshed and having to ask 3 waiters before they finally got salt. Not a single toilet (male or female) had toilet roll of soap. After asking for the service charge to be taken off the waiter was extremely shocked and rude, dashing the card on the table and walking away. Was extremely dissapointed as always walking past and wanting to go. Would NEVER go again, spent almost all of the time in shock or fraustrates. Awful experience

The Lobster was amazing, served with calamari rings (unexpected surprise), black rice (which I had never had before) and fries on the side. This meal was great value. To top it off the Manager suggested and served me the most amazing chocolate mousse, birthday candle included and the staff sang happy birthday, which topped off the night. The staff where polite and attentive at all times. We were the only guests at the bar so there was no way we could have been overlooked. The service was excellent. I had my Birthday lunch here. I was escorted to my table and our coats were taken. The staff were very friendly professional and helpful. My partner chose the set menu for £14.40 and was highly disappointed. The Prawn cocktail starter was beautifully presented but sub-par and it was on the sour side. He didn't enjoy it all.. the main course was tiger prawns and chicken. Which tasted ok but the portion size was menial. I ordered the lobster with prawns on the side which by glancing at the menu appeared as if it was value for money. However when it came the lobster was quite small and I had to request extra butter garlic sauce due to the fact that there wasn't enough on my plate to eat the lobster with. My other guest ordered sea bass which he was satisfied with but not blown away by. This portion was also small. When I received my bill I was shocked to see that they had automatically charged me a £4 cover charge? I have never paid a civer charge at any restaurant I've dined in and £15.80 service charge on top of that. I found this a bit cheeky and felt a bit misled. This restaurant is lovely inside but a tad bit overpriced for the quality of food produced. We had to pick up some take out on the way home because my guests were still hungry. I was not impressed overall for the money that I spent and will not be going back here.

The place looked very posh and the prices were high which gave an impression of a nice restaurant. The service was in line with the atmosphere of this restaurant, the music played was too load and it was not appropriate with the restaurant atmosphere i.e. Robbie williams greatest hit! We ordered steak and the meat was ok but again nothing that special. The bill for two people was £90+ with no alcohol. I have no problem to pay for fine food but this restaurant did not offer neither the quality nor the service you would expect for the price.

We arrived at about 8 and ordered starters which took ages to come, the calamari was the best bit about my experience. I ordered a mojito and 15 minutes later queried where it was, apparently they needed more mint. 20 minutes after, the waiter bought it over and I was disappointed to say the least! It was so watered down I could barely taste the rum and i refused to pay £7.50 when I could have had a tap water for free. Our mains arrived at half 9. Extremely livid with the poor service and time it took but hoped our food would be worth it. How wrong could I be. I had ordered a medium steak which came out still looking alive so asked for it to be cooked the way I had originally asked. It then came back still bloodied and when I complained the waitress raised her voice a little and told me it was just juicy!! Utterly absurd. The chips were McCain oven chips possibly even the microchips and they didn't bring out the veg I asked for either. Sadly the rest of my party had no luck with their food. We had ordered an avocado salad which had no avocado and the rest of the other steaks weren't cooked how they were asked. The food went back and we didn't pay for what we didn't eat. The waitress/ manager was getting rude and added she was trying to defend herself. All we wanted was good customer service which we didn't get. Went with husband & 3 others for Sunday lunch to celebrate sons 21st - had we read reviews prior then we probably wouldn't have, but here is my experience. Sat down straightaway and given food & drinks menus, at this point we were the first in the restaurant, but at leaving the place was 2/3 full. We had a great time, we had starters & mains inc lobster & steaks. The steaks were beautifully cooked, as was my lobster. This place isn't cheap & I think that at these sort of prices, you expect & should receive excellent service. Our waiter was great, ordered with no paper & pen , all in his memory, never got a thing wrong or asked for anything to be repeated. Our starters came within 15 minutes and wine straightaway. The wine was regularly topped up throughout our meal & we never had to serve it ourselves. I was so shocked when I read the reviews on my return home, it's as if we had been to a different place. Either we got lucky or some people have ridiculous expectations. We didn't find anything dirty or substandard and we are all very fussy people. We would def go back.

Very disappointing experience. I was profoundly put off from the start when I noticed the cuffs on the waiter's white shirt were black black BLACK with grime. Ordered a bottle of white wine with the meal. As I drank from the glass I noticed a red patch inside at the base: dried-on red wine. The waiter apologised and took my glass of wine away and returned with a clean glass. I was interested to see how the bill would be adjusted, after all I'd just lost out on a glass of wine. Where to even begin....This definitely has to be one of the very worst dining experiences i have had to date and hopefully nothing else will surpass this in the future. After waiting about 20 mins for a table, once seated, we were made to wait for what felt like an eternity to order our food and drinks. It is restaurant etiquette to serve drinks first whilst the food is being prepared; however im not sure which service school the owner of this establishment attended, because over 1 hour into our arrival, we were served our starters (which were definitely not worth the wait); yet still not a single glass of the beverages we ordered were in sight! When we asked one of the staff for our drinks, who happened to be the 'owner' - we were verbally abused for chasing up on our drinks. He clearly wanted us to sit there chewing food with our dry throats! He insulted our party of four, causing us to down forks and quickly head to the exit.Almost 2 hours in, we ended up leaving without touching our starters or drinks. Oh and I failed to mention that all the while only 3 tables including ours were occupied. So they were certainly not rushed off their feet!In summary...if you are looking for extremely poor /non-existent service, poor food and are in the mood to pay for some verbal abuse with your meal, LPDJ is the place to go.

Having been impressed by claims of reasonably priced Steak and Lobster, myself my partner and some friends had high expectations when we entered the restaurant at 8pm. These expectations were maintained when we were sat immediately, slightly lowered when our wine order was incorrect, lowered still when 30 minutes after ordering it appeared we had been forgotten about.Fighting back the increasing exasperation at this stage, a query as to hold up was made. It was at this stage, the owners unique interpretation of service was fully realised as he them went on to threaten two of the female diners indicating that he was in 'no mood to be challenged' and had 'had enough of this' the tone and language of the owner continued to spectacularly deteriorate to the point that we had to get up and leave. This is without doubt the worst dining experience I have had in my many years here and I can only advise the hungry masses to stay away.Truly shocking!!

One of the best restaurants in London for steaks. Service good - could be better. Needs air conditioning during summers - gets really warm inside. Overall - deserves a visit at least once.

Went on a Sunday afternoon its was extremely quiet the waiter asked us if we would like a drink and i thought a couple of Bellinis (Proseco and peach puree) would be a good start, after what seemed an age, he returns to say they have run out the puree would we like something else so we choose something and again after what seems an unreasonably long time the drinks arrive then we're asked if we were ready to order, which we were having had an entire afternoon to decide, i order a seafood platter which are phenomenal my girlfriend orders something and a side of dauphinoise to which are told there isn't any and the alternative is french fries, i presume if they run outta them they run round to McDonalds, Ok so we've ordered food what about some wine, one white one red s'il vous plaît the waiter returns after a little walk round the Westfield Shopping Mall to inform me that they neither bottle of wine that i have chosen...Good God! Not good enough.

I eat at McDonald's so you know that my service standards are not very high but this place was a joke. Probably going to repeat previous comments but nobody at front of house, waited 10 minutes before being acknowledged. We were told to wait by the bar our table was being prepared, 20 mins later we were seated, no acknowledgement. Then another 20 minutes before they took our order we ordered starters 20 minutes wait, mains came around 20 minutes later. The staff never acknowledged us, were really rude when asked questions, slow and a ridiculous amount of time to wait for a meal when the restaurant was less than half full, yes we timed everything we got so hungry. Please don't waste your time or money here for mediocre, overpriced food there are so many other restaurants in Westfield, all of which have much better service than here. There is nothing deserved about the automatically added 12.5% service charge, I took it off and in 31 years this is the first time I have not left a tip.

I had the lobster my wife had the steak exactly how she didn't order it & both dishes were stone cold. To be fair, the service wasn't that bad but that could be put down to my wife & I being the only customers at the time. We couldn't wait to leave & will definitely won't be returning, very dissapointing.

Went into the restaurant within opening hours, no customers. Nobody at the entrance desk so we went further in by the bar. We were then met by a female staff with both hands saying "stop". We explained and mentioned we had a great time in the restaurant last year so we are going to dine in again but this didn't seem to change this staff member's aggressive mood. There was another male member of staff, uninterested! We decided to walk away and we told them, this is unacceptable and a review will be posted online for this experience. Guess what he said! "Go write your review, I don't care!" .... so here it is as a favour to him! No wonder the restaurant's always empty. I don't think this restaurant is going to last long and I wouldn't be surprised at all if this restaurant will soon be boarded up for utter rudeness and poor customer skills of staff members.

There was a nice a stylish atmosphere in the restaurant. Service was quite prompt but we had to wait quite a long time for the dessert menu which wasn't worth the wait.We ordered the lobster and a t-bone steak. The lobster was fine but the steak was cold. The toilets were disgusting which can tell a lot about a restaurant.Overall, food was less than average and overpriced.Won't go back.

We had dinner here last Satuday evening and there were six in the group. There was a bit of a mix up with our booking, which annoyed me as we had booked a week in advance and then seem to have been forgotten, but that aside it was a very enjoyable experience. We have eaten here on a number of occasions and been struck by the level of its quality compared with its very reasonable prices. My wife and I have singled it out as the right type of place for us ; relatively quiet where we can get the sort of table we want with good service. It sometimes concerns us that the place is not busier than it is as we now have it firmly featuring on our "safe places to eat" list and I hope it continues to be successful as we would miss it. The food is good and at £271 for six people - with mostly steaks being consumed and with starters, desserts and two bottles of nice wine - we'll certainly continue to frequent this nice restaurant.

We decided to tour Westfield recently, and after spending the day (after a movie), we were quite hungry. If you are keen on something more than the fast food in the mall, the Southern Terrace is generally the place to go. LPDJ is a large restaurant, so you can take your pick of seating. They generally have specials on, so watch out for those. They're known for lobster, although I've never tried ventured that far.I have been here before, and came away impressed then. This experience left me a little underwhelmed. Something just seemed to be missing.I started with carpaccio and followed it with seared tuna. The food is okay, perhaps even better than just okay, but it's not great. LPDJ is not a destination restaurant.BUT... LPDJ is still, one of the best French restaurants in Westfield. If you feel like something a little more than a fast-food fry up, give it a try. Their wine list is good, I must admit.

Would not recommend anybody to go to this resturaunt. I had a awful night in this place. And would definitely not go back if I returned to London. Both my mum and I ordered steaks for our main when asked how would we like it cooked my mum said medium rare and I said very well done, no blood and no pink the waiter laughed and said this was fine no problem, after arriving at the resturaunt at 7.40 45 minutes later no food had arrived so I asked another waiter would the food be long (as I hadn't eaten since 1pm earlier that day so I was starving at this point) she said it wouldn't be long to which shortly after the male waiter who had taken our order came over to our table and apologised and said he hadn't put our order through the system and he had told the kitchen and it would be 2-3 minutes. At this point I was very annoyed but thought I was so hungry that I couldn't go anywhere else for food and get it in 2-3 minutes so I said that was fine and we would wait. We waited between 5-10 minutes before the food came out, the waiter put our steaks down so I cut straight into my steak to check it was cooked enough for me, when I cut through it i looked inside to find it was cooked from what I would say as just below medium which I was not happy about seeing as I specially told the waiter no pink and no blood. I told the waiter it's too undercooked I specially told him how I wanted it and it was not right and that I wanted him to send it back and cook it again, I asked what i was supposed to do whilst my steak was being cooked about my chips and vegetables going cold and the waiter said he would bring out some more chips and vegetables. Before he left I said to him to cremate the steak to ensure I wouldn't have to send it back for the second time. My mum wasn't happy at this point either as this meant she was to sit and eat her meal alone whilst I had to wait, thinking about what had happened I decided that I wanted to speak to the manager to tell him what had happened and I didn't think it was reasonable that I paid full price for my meal, the female waiter said she would ask him to come over to speak to me. I waited another 5 minutes and the manager still hadn't come over baring in mind the resturaunt wasn't full by this point I could see the waiter coming from the kitchen with the steak for the second time he put the plate on the table along with new chips and new veg the outside of the steak look like it had been cooked more but from experience I know that this may not mean the inside was cooked as well. I cut into the steak again and yet again it was still not cooked how I had asked it was still pink and still had blood in it and this point I had had enough so I said I'm not eating this I don't want it I'm leaving I asked the waiter to get the manager yet again because I wanted to tell him myself what had happened why I was walking out and that I wasn't paying for both meals. The manager came over I explained to him what had happened and said it had ruined our evening I am leaving and I'm not paying for any of this to which he replied OK, no apology and we left.

This was our third visit to this restaurant. It started nicely on the first visit but has dropped off in standards. All of us know that fresh seafood is vital or the consequences can be dire.We had the fresh lobster (Canadian Lobster) prawns and scampi. Unfortunately, my wife was not well a couple of hours later. It has been a fantastic restaurant but feel that with diminishing numbers attending (there were 6 people in a restaurant that would hold over 100 people) they are not able to provide the top quality seafood necessary.Worth a look definitely but don't be afraid to ask questions about your meal and speak up if it tastes less than you expect.

This was once a lovely restaurant in Covent Garden. However a recent visit has changed my mind. Service was very slow, we had to ask 4 times before our order was taken. And after finally getting our order in, we were told about 10 minutes later that the food we ordered had run out. We were told no more seafood at all and that we could only order from the meat section. So then ordered steak only to be only they only had sirloin and fillet left. Our drinks took ages and we had to remind them to bring it. We had to ask for bread. Whilst eating our starter and not quite finished yet were told our steak had arrived and so our starter plates were whisked away whilst mid-mouthful. Steak was overcooked and was not good quality steak. We ordered some side veggies only to be told they had no more spinach, finally got offered a plate of mixed veggies. The dish had 3 small broccoli florets, bits of courgettes and a couple of French beans, we couldn't have shared this dish at all. We weren't charged this dish of veggies as I'm sure by this time even the waiter was embarrassed. Finally to top it all off we were each charged £1 as cover charge. Would not recommend anyone to go. You're better off going to Burger King in Westfield.

We have been many times to LPDJ (Le Palais du Jardin) for lunches - the stylish decor, the elegant table settings with crisp white linen tablecloths and serviettes, sparkling glassware and cutlery, the quality of food and the value for money all keep us coming back and makes a fitting lunch when shopping at the adjacent Westfield Shopping Centre. LPDJ is an unexpected up-market find and makes a welcome change from the fast food outlets within the shopping centre and the mixture of chain restaurants outside. The style is very French with the emphasis on seafood. In particular they offer some very affordable lunch-time specials - amongst which is a 2 course set menu for £14.95. We once went with friends who chose the Plateau de Fruits de Mer (£26.50) - a towering pyramid of lobster, crab, tiger prawns, oysters, langoustines, clams, mussels, cockles, razor clams, scallops and squid and they were very much impressed with the presentation, quality and value for money! This time we chose for starters Coquilles St Jacques £6.50 and 6 Oysters £6.75 followed by main course dishes of Whole Lobster served with fries £19.95 and Cod £16.50. Everything was perfect. We finished with selection of cheeses (£5.50).The style is elegant, the food excellent and the service highly professional and impeccable.

Their sourdough bread is the best of the best. Do get there early, as the bread sells out quickly. It is more expensive but the quality is great.
