Lovelock's in Liverpool

We came across this café whilst looking for somewhere near Lime Street to get lunch. We absolutely loved the relaxed and inclusive environment at Lovelocks – and the food was excellent too. Highly recommended!

Popped in after visiting the Walker Gallery. It wasn't busy but it still took about 10 minutes for anyone to come and ask if we wanted to order - by the way the menus were torn and tatty. We ordered and then had to wait another 35 minutes for the food to arrive. the waitress said "all freshly cooked so worth the wait". The food was very good and the portions were good, but I'm not sure I'd want to go back and wait so long again.

What a fabulous gem if a find! So good we went daily! After eating here you won't go anywhere else.Quality food and service. The sourdough bread was the best we've ever tasted and even brought some home with us.You know it's good when you ask for directions from a stranger and they say it's the best place to eat!

I love the friendly but chilled out atmosphere here. Lovely owners and staff and scrumptious cake and coffee. I come here to relax and revive.

If you go to the Liverpool Museum or Walker Art Gallery or Library or St George’s Hall then you should add this place to the must visit list. Great food, friendly atmosphere, totally welcoming to those who are diverse in life or diet. I’m hooked on the bacon Brie sandwiches, but if you’re vegan or gluten free they cater. So cross the road, lighten the load and enjoy the most welcoming cafe in the town.

My wife and I visited today for veggie breakfasts. Although it was rather busy on arrival we were directed to a table immediately. Not the cheapest breakfast I've ever had (£12 a head) but to be fair it's a city location and doubtless overheads, ie venue rental, are high as a result. So this is not a complaint. The staff were friendly, attentive and efficient and the breakfast was possibly the best that I have ever had whilst eating out - such a range of flavours. It was also rather filling! The next time we moor up in Liverpool (we live on a narrowboat and spend around nine months of the year away from our home moorings) Lovelock's will be our go to breakfast/brunch spot. I cannot recommend this cafe highly enough. Eleven out of ten.

I have been coming to lovelocks almost every week for the past year or so and I’ve only ever had amazing experiences. The staff are so warm and welcoming, with genuine care for every customer that walks through the door. The venue itself is decorated in such a fun and unique way. The food is amazing with such a wide range of options, all delivered in such good time. They host various events, including the makers market that I have attended numerous times. I would recommend this place to anyone that would listen 🫶🏻🫶🏻 Thank you for making my mornings before university lectures, and always making me smile !!

Quaint personal cafe where everything is homemade. Feels very authentic. Great food and service.HD vegan breakfasts and afternoon tea and cakes - all delicious. Pancakes in particular were amazing.

It’s not Starbucks, Costa, Cafe Nero or indeed, any chain. It’s more like the coolest, most friendly, inclusive place in the city. As if that wasn’t enough the coffee and food are great! Is it out of the way? No, it’s exclusively inclusive.

Came here for a late breakfast during our walks around city centre. Loved the service and the atmosphere was really nice. It was pretty busy and I didn't expect it to be table service but somebody was straight over to us. I got a mocha and a bacon, brie and caramelised onion chutney toastie, The coffee was amazing and food was great. Really happy

Confused and uninterested staff who were more interested in their own breakfast than ours. Took nearly 3/4 hr to prepare and bring egg on toast, smashed avo on toast and a bacon sandwich. Meanwhile the staff were Eating their own breakfast in full view and hygienically wiping fingers on the back of his jeans. Seeing that we had to remind the staff of our order. And then wait another 5 min for service. And guess what a cat owner brought a cat in which roamed on a lead in the eating area. And was stroked by staff as they served food. So guess what .. this is a baaaad review

Lovelocks has a very warm and welcoming feel and one can immediately tell that it is a labor of love. Pleasant staff, prompt service and a tasty wholesome breakfast. Easy walking distance from the Raddison Red and Lime street station.

Horrible experience, order porridge took over 45 minutes to arrive. Once it arrived it was luck warm and there wasn’t even blueberries. DISAPPOINTED!! Also order a coffee and nice coffee but cold. Wasn’t even busy. Won’t be returning here again

I was staying at the Travelodge next door, which doesn’t have a breakfast room so I tried Lovelocks. What a fortunate decision! Breakfast was excellent and reasonably priced both days. I returned for coffee over a meeting later on, and that was great too. Lovely atmosphere and helpful staff.

We walked past here on the way to somewhere else, returned the next day as we liked the look of it and we weren't disappointed! Fab veggie breakfast offering a slightly different choice to the usual veggie fair, including tasty seasoning e.g. on the mushrooms. Friendly staff and great coffee. Would definitely return if I was back in Liverpool again.

By far the best vegan brekkie in Liverpool, with vegan sausage, spinach, spicy beans and hash browns. We came three times, we enjoyed it so much. The cafe has a nice relaxing vibe, and it's very handy for Lime Street station.

The food was ok . Liked the baked eggs but unfortunately the waitress knocked the milk over me and soaked my trousers . I tried wiping it off with a damp cloth but it has stained my pale silk trousers and looked an absolute mess . I had to make a quick trip to matalan to buy a new outfit for £25 as I was a couple of hundred miles from home !! I know accidents can’t be helped but though she said sorry there was no offer of any other compensation- not even a cup of tea . So that was the most expensive meal I had during my couple of days in Liverpool. Poor customer service !

We were staying at the Travelodge next door and wanted breakfast. We weren't disappointed. The cafe has a very community cafe vibe. The menu was small, but very good. My friend has the toasted fruit bread and I had the most wonderful pancakes, apple, blueberry, pecan and banana, with a side of maple syrup(yummy). We both had latte, but mine was made with oat milk. We were on the way to visit the art gallery and realised that we had arrived before the 10 o’clock opening time, so we called into this café, which is not far from the art gallery. We enjoyed two good quality flat white coffees for £6.40 while we waited for the art gallery to open.

Lovelocks is near the Travelodge. There is an excellent choice of vegetarian and vegan food. The restaurant is adorned with rainbow decorations, giving it a wonderful ambience. Service is friendly though because all the food is cooked freshly it is slightly slow.

Incredibly friendly people - extraordinarily helpful, cheerful - serving a range of excellent food : specials , sandwiches , soups in addition to a wide of coffees and teas . A bit out of the way, yet only 10 mins walk (max) from Lime Street. I pop in every time I am in Liverpool . Fills up quite quickly but worth it.

After only recently moving to Liverpool we wanted to visit somewhere independent and queer friendly - and after reading the reviews for here we came! I’m not sure if our expectations were succeeding our experience but the staff were unfortunately not friendly - one was slightly more friendly than the other. No good morning/how are you/ or even a smile! I’m not of those people who expects it because you’re an employee, just as a human being on a nice Saturday morning! It’s a beautiful little place but was just put off by a lacklustre atmosphere. Coffee was great! We’re hoping it was just a bad morning for the staff and almost wanted to ask if they were ok! We will be back, maybe we can do more to get that conversation going next time, or even just a smile or a laugh!

A lovely place to eat. I had eggs on toast (I made it a smile face by adding brown sauce), a tea and a coffee. All super tasty, friendly staff, quick service, and quirky fun decor. Also, very convenient location for the world museum and the Walker gallery.

While visiting Liverpool with my girlfriend, she recommended giving lovelocks a try and I'm so very glad we did! The service was attentive and efficient. They were considerate of our covid concerns and the food was fantastic! The soup was fresh and delicious and the sandwiches made our hearts stop and beat faster at the same time. I hope this hidden gem doesn't stay hidden for long.

Me and my boyfriend were visiting Liverpool for the first time when we came across Lovelocks. The food was amazing; great quality but not too pricey, and well worth the wait to which we didn’t have to wait very long though they were busy. Lovelocks es un café peculiar, que bien merece una visita. Ayer comí una ensalada de aguacate y hummus (también puedo comerla con bagel pero en una misión sin pan). Fue sacado en un tazón grande, una buena porción, bien presentado y cada bocado sabroso. ¿El mejor plato de "aguacate" que he probado en la ciudad y estoy fuera de casa la mayoría de los días? Estaba en conflicto entre él y las gachas caramelizadas. Alguien estaba acurrucado a mi lado y se veía increíble. La próxima vez entonces . . . . visitar . . . disfruta de un negocio local que vale la pena apoyar.

Decidimos encontrar un lugar para el desayuno, ¡y qué desayuno tomamos! Dos deliciosos huevos horneados, delicioso tocino, champiñones y frijoles horneados caseros sobre tostadas de masa agria; soberbio. Realmente nos preparó para el resto del día. Precio muy razonable y personal muy trabajador, sin duda lo recomendaría.

Came for lunch with a friend, such a cosy and pretty cafe and very well decorated with beautiful plants. Unfortunately the coffee machine was broken but we were still accomodated well and the staff worked out a way to make my friend an iced caramel coffee from their filter. I went for the soup and sandwich deal, was very inexpensive and so tasty! Love that the soup is homemade, as it made it that bit more special. Also, the cups and bowls in here are lovely, I wanted to take them home! Will definitely be back.

A favourite for both work and weekend lunches. The owner and all the staff there are so lovely and friendly and the place is quaint, relaxing and charming. Great range of choices with lots of options for vegetarians and vegans. A particular favourite is the baked eggs and mushrooms with the nicest bread ever! Keep up the good work guys

good prices, you have to find this cafe but when you do you will not want to leave.so many lush foods to eat and when you pay you will be happy to get change. this place isa hidden gem but we know where it is now so we shall return on our next visit .

Lovelock's is a fab cafe with brilliant staff, a warm welcome, beautiful décor, & a great range of lovely food - all for a very reasonable price. It's small, but perfectly formed, & best of all, they have created a community within a community where everyone feels comfortable. A visit to Lovelock's always make me feel happy!

So positives. Easy to find. Nice decor. Good coffee and tasty breakfast. But we won’t be returning. We walked in early morning and no one welcomed us or even acknowledged us. We sat down. Went to the counter and ordered. No good morning or smile. Coffee and food brought to the table and just put down. No smile, there you go, enjoy. On leaving walked past the counter and no one asked if everything had been ok or said goodbye. It was more annoying because a couple of obviously regular people came in and were made a fuss off. Real shame but plenty of other places for breakfast in the city.

A must visit. Music is class. Cosy feel. Staff are so smiley. The eggs though. Let me explain. Baked eggs on toast. So simple but perfected. Yolk was runny but not too runny. A pointy knife to perfectly pop it. The top of the toast is toasted more than the bottom so when you turn them into soldiers they are perfect to hold onto. Then the other side of the generous toast is available to eat with the egg. The coffee is spectacular too. Go there.

Had a lovely breakfast here on a very rainy day. Staff were really friendly and welcoming, also dog friendly which was a bonus. Both enjoyed our breakfasts. Very delicious cinnamon raisin French toast and banana, pecan and peanut butter toast. Very reasonably priced too. Also had a laugh playing games, guess who and dip sticks music edition. Very chilled, welcoming atmosphere, would recommend!
