Lovely good and good fast service. Orange juice freshly squeezed and Eggs and Salmon Hollandaise great.

After hearing good things I was disappointed to be served luke warm coffee after a 20 minute wait. Polite servoce but not what I was expecting.

We try to pop in for lunch a couple of times a week (apart from when working from home of course)and it's usually spot on. Great food, great staff no complaints.However, there have obviously been some post lockdown management changes, which, well... aren't the usual Loudons standard.Again, most seem spot on however one young man in particular, Ollie i believe i heard him called, seemed very disinterested and focused solely on his phone while condescendingly directing some of the other guys. Additionally, he seemed to stand idly by, allowing a pregnant young woman to carry a case of milk.While this didn't directly impact service for us, it did make us uncomfortable, altering the normally friendly Loudons tone.

Recently had lunch at Loudons with a friend - easy to book on line, our table was ready when we arrived and we weren't rushed to leave. The food was really nice but as I have a severe hearing loss I found the background noise too much. I would certainly recommend it but not sure if I'll be going back due to my hearing issues

I returned to Loudons for the 1st time in a year, I worked round the corner before the pandemic so regularly came in for coffee and a roll. On this occasion I came in with my family and was over the moon to find not much has changed smaller menu and some covid safety measures but times are strange. The staff remain friendly and polite...the chef working downstairs even took the time to wave at my daughter when I lifted her to look through the window, I t’s the little things.....I had a full breakfast and full is an understatement! Tasty and huge! Well worth it! My wife had the hoots benny and she also loved it, the coffee is second to none! We’ll be back again soon. :)

We love Loudons at Fountainbridge. It's a lovely walk along the canal there and back. The food was tasty, the staff friendly and accommodating. As usual I had the meat power bowl and was not disappointed. He had the full breakfast and loved the haggis and black pudding especially. Our 8 year old had the banana and coconut pancakes (without the banana) and was delighted with his choice.

Black pudding puree is something I'd never heard of until I tried the Hoots Mon Bennys here. Maybe I'm out of the loop, but ooft. Genius stuff that. Highly recommend.

Really like the atmosphere here! The food is good with lots of veggie and vegan options. Their homemade veggie haggis is super good. Drinks and food are a lil pricey but the staff are soo attentive and its lovely.

Food was good as usual. Difficult to attract staff attention despite the restaurant being quiet. Unusual not to have oat milk as an option.

I have always enjoyed my visits to Loudons. Great selection of foods to suit every taste. The staff are always helpful and friendly. I'll be back!

Enjoyed lunch with my Dad and it was really delicious. I had the open Macaroni Cheese Sandwich and Dad had the Fishcakes, both were tasty, hot and served with a smile.

I visited Loudon’s yesterday for breakfast with 3 others having booked previously. We each had something different and every plate was a delight. I had raisin soda bread with eggs, avocado, pickled veg and sliced radish, the best breakfast I’ve had in a long time. The coffee was good and the service efficient and friendly. Another brunch meet up with a friend. Now my fourth visit and can safely say Loudons Fountainbridge is consistently excellent. Smoked salmon and scrambled egg, toast, coffee. Hot, delicious, even gobbled up the garnish. From my own experience, an appealing, perky garnish bodes well for the rest of what is on the plate. Coffee flavoursome, hot & fresh, service just right, was busy but never felt harried to finish up. Great place, highly recommended.

Enjoyed delicious fresh juices and GF coffee and walnut cake - beautifully done, thank you! Great attention to confidence around Covid security - reassuring without being obtrusive.

Lovely lunch, good service, good value for money in a relaxing environment. Good parking nearby. Would recommend.

Modern expansive recipes using quality ingredients. Also traditional cafe fare but with a twist. Been twice , really good. We will be back

While visiting Edinburgh for a weekend trip, we decided to grab brunch here after seeing great reviews. While the food was nice and did live up to expectations, it was chaotic to say the least. Upon arrival, there were at least 10 people stood in the entrance waiting for a table (making it hard to social distance). After agreeing to wait 40 minutes for a table (happily as we weren't in a rush), we went for a walk to maintain social distancing. We came back after 40 minutes and were told we still needed to wait. Many of the couples we had seen were still sat waiting, despite there being empty tables in the restaurant. One customer did complain that he could see 6 empty tables and was rudely responded to by the front of house who suggested that had they booked they could have been eating now (frustrating him even more). Around 55 minutes after we initially arrived, we were seated at a sofa with a low down table by the left of the entrance. Considering we had waited so long to eat, i wasnt too happy with eating off a coffee table but was assured there were no other tables available so had to put up with it. I have to say our waiter was very friendly and attentive and the food was also nice (i had french toast and my boyfriend had pancakes). However, the whole chaotic entrance and poor front of house attitude left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. Probably best to go when its dead quiet and you might enjoy it more.

We have started to visit once a month with our son. The food is of a really high standard and the service is excellent with really friendly and efficient staff. The venue itself is bright, well laid out and spacious. The atmosphere was buzzing and there was a great vibe. One of our party had dairy and gluten intolerences and this was handled really well. We really enjoyed it and will definitely be back soon, restrictions permitting !

First visit to Loudons after a recommendation from a friend! Well it’s a wee jewel in the crown - from the staff to the food we loved every minute of it and will most definitely be back . We ordered the most perfect savoury pancakes and goats cheese salad - both hit the spot in every way and even every garnish has been well thought out . I was delicious . Coffee was a lovely roast and lovely and rich, proper coffee . I also ordered a fresh juice of apple , pear and matcha- just perfect . Our waitress was lovely, very friendly and even though she was wearing a mask you could tell she was smiling underneath and nothing was too much bother ( we sent her along to see a table that we had passed before ordering as the food looked so yummy ) . It was also my friends 40th birthday and I mentioned that when booking and she then came and offered her a the choice of a wee cake courtesy of Loudons - what a lovely touch. 10/10 and we will most definitely be back

We have been coming to Loudons for years and have regularly recommended it to friends and family. We were disappointed that the eggs Benedict with salmon was half the size it used to be (yet still the same price) with barely any salmon. The muffins were smaller than the eggs and not even toasted. Sadly it seemed like the masses of spinach was to cover up the lack of salmon. The American pancakes were still great and as was the service, it's just disappointing that the eggs, something they have always been known for, felt like they were lacking in quality.

This was my second visit to Loudons fountain bridge, and I chose here for a family birthday meet up because of the good food from first visit. First, the place itself is spacious, , clean and very well laid out, especially good due to current COVID restrictions. Second, service was excellent, like a well oiled machine. Never felt rushed, nor that we were hanging around waiting. Welcoming, friendly staff who are clearly very good at their job.Third, the menu: we had in our group, two carnivores, one veggie, two vegans and a gluten intolerant. The menu had plenty to choose from for all of us, except perhaps the veggie who hates tomatoes, so was a little limited. Vegan menu so good that a carnivore even went for a veggie dish, with no regrets. Last, the food. We all completely cleared our plates it was so good. Poached eggs done to perfection, everything hot and flavoursome, exciting food with very imaginative flavours and combinations. Coffee really good too. This will now be our go-to restaurant for any similar meet ups. Good job, Loudons.

We have walked by here most weekends and there is always a queue at the door, so we naturally wanted to see what all the fuss was about! The eggs benny was the best I've ever had by far - no exaggeration, it was so perfect. My partner had the open macaroni sandwich and we were both a little disappointed when it came as the portion size is pretty poor for the price. I would have expected there to be 2 full slices of bread, hence using the word 'sandwich', but it's just one slice of bread cut in half. All the covid safety measures were in place which was great to see and the staff were friendly. I just think it's a little pricey.

Having booked for three people, we had to rearrange things as we were ‘three households’ (so, one of us needed to be distanced from the others in a safe way). Staff were friendly and happy to help with our suggestion (use a larger outdoor table). As it began to rain, they didn’t forget us and offered us a big indoor table......thinking on their feet regarding rules etc. The food was lovely and tasty and the staff clearly worked very well together as a proper team.

Loudons is a good fun!It is vibrant, friendly, familiar... It is like going back to the University canteen, huge place full of people from all ages and styles.I felt very comfortable and no one looked at judgmentally. This is because the customer profile is super wide for a more than decent menu options for all budgets.The staff were friendly and efficient.The service was good and quick.The food was full of flavour and the ingredients were mixed randomly in a way you could never imagine.For example, I had my first baked goat cheese salad (around 150 g of cheese) with lentils, chickpeas and a hundred more things perfectly combined.I definitely recommend this place.Go Loudons!

We have been meaning to visit Loudens for some time & were delighted to be able to do so this week. We booked online & were welcomed by staff on arrival. We both had the American style pancakes with bacon, banana & maple syrup which was beyond delicious. We have booked again for a lockdown birthday breakfast celebration next week!

A bit pricey, so in terms of value for money I’ve had better elsewhere, but Loudon’s breakfast was quality all the same. Every item was perfectly cooked and nicely presented and the staff were very polite. Nice place

Loved our brunch experience at Loudons, the food was so delicious and really great value too. There was a slight queue when we arrived, but a very short wait and well worth it!

I discovered Loudons back when I lived in Edinburgh and not only did I introduce half my family and friends to it, I've never missed a chance to go back when I'm in the city. The staff are always welcoming and the service is great but really it is the food that makes Loudons one of my favourite places for breakfast. They have a variety of options for dietary requirements, all delicious, and are happy to adapt your meal to suit you as well. Last time I went I added vegetarian haggis to my eggs florentine and it was absolutely delicious. Already can't wait for my next visit!

Having booked in advance, I went for brunch with friends on a Monday at 11:30am. It was busy but tables were socially distanced so that was not a problem. All dishes were excellent, particularly the classic bennys with smoked salmon. The servers were lovely and attentive too! The disabled toilet was also open for use.

We all loved our brunch dishes here- the smoked salmon is fantastic and of a clearly high quality. The toast was so yummy and crunchy! The coffee was tasty and strong - only quibble was the flat white was really small... however not an issue considering how nice the food is :)

A really lovely breakfast / lunch location. Tasty and beautifully presented fresh food with some interesting and inventive choices. Excellent gluten free options for almost everything on the menu. Not the cheapest but well worth the money.

Had a great lunch here. Staff were friendly, safe and attentive without being at all intrusive. Really enjoyed the gluten free superfood pancakes. There were lots of other gluten free options too. Coffee was delicious. Would recommend booking but really enjoyed!

Three of us came for breakfast at Loudons after reading reviews on the internet. The Mediterranean poached eggs and avocado was delicious. One member of our party wanted the American pancakes and they were kind enough to serve it without the bacon as requested. The other member opted for a veggie breakfast but wasn't keen on the veggie sausages - she's fussy anyway! The juices were fresh and thirst-quenching. The coffee was a disappointment though hence the 4*. I would definitely recommend choosing a different supplier as coffee shouldn't be bitter. It's not Loudons fault but the roaster's. Great service from start to finish! We had a table booked, were quickly seated, and servers were easily approachable throughout our time. I'll definitely visit again on my next trip to Edinburgh.

Came here twice whilst visiting Edinburgh with my partner. Everything we had was amazing, we had full breakfasts the first morning and then french toast the second morning. Everything is freshly made on site (including the baked beans and tattie scones) so it all tastes incredible and nothing was too greasy in the fry up! Even the apple juice had been freshly made and it was the best apple juice I’ve ever tasted. Would definitely recommend coming here for breakfast/lunch. Only small complaint is that the service was quite slow and something was forgotten off my plate on the Saturday morning but other than that it was perfect!

Went for brunch today, was a bit disappointed with this. Don’t serve Bloody Mary’s before 12 even though on menu, long waits for food and coffees, hard to get attention of server, food was cold and coffee didn’t taste great either. Based on my own food I could have given a lower score however the food ordered by my 3 fellow diners looked better and was hot and according to them was good. Think I was a bit unlucky today based on how popular it is but probably would look for somewhere else next time based on this experience.

In theory it’s good, freshly baked produce and the chefs and kitchen team can be seen at all times which I like. But the food is only ok verging on bland. The breakfast was very dry, beans had clearly been sitting out all morning and reheated and the bacon was tough and overdone. They don’t offer you lunch after 2pm and are almost annoyed when you turn up after this time even though they open until five. Service is good, most of the time. In general and for the price I’d say it’s quite disappointing

We have been going to Loudons for around 4 years religiously now. It’s our absolute go to breakfast spot. The staff are friendly and the food is divine. My only critique is that a few years ago they changed the menu to include significantly more pork, it really reduced the options for people who just want fish or chicken options.

Full Scottish breakfast at around £12,nothing special. Eggs and bacon with 'home made' bread...average. The bread was rock hard and nothing special at all. The grilled tomatoes were stone cold straight from the fridge presumably pre cooked? Perhaps this was how they were meant to be served but thought it was very odd. French toast was ok. Glass of fresh orange juice at £4 came with a large hair on the side of the glass which they swapped with no problem but put me off slightly. Overall the bill for 3 lots of breakfast food and 3 drinks was £44....halved due to the 'Eat out to help out' scheme. If we'd paid full price we would have been very unhappy. Even at half the price we didn't leave particularly satisfied. As a previous reviewer said...not sure what all the fuss is about? Maybe we were just unlucky that day? But we won't be trying it again.

Don't know what everyone is so excited about. It's OK, nothing awful. But really not a 'go out of your way to visit' kind of place. Sorry Loudon - only kind of average.

The food was really tasty and I have the feeling that I would have been happy regardless of what I ordered from the menu. The staff were friendly and there was generally a good buzz about the place. The only criticisms I would make were that the type of furniture/decor/finishes of the restaurant meant that there was lots of noise reverb and it was quite hard to hear the person I was with. Given the current covid situation, I didn't want to have to shout to be heard, so this was a little worrying. Also, the water for the table was served luke warm, which was very strange! Otherwise a very pleasant experience and the food was really tasty. Will be back but might sit outside next time.

Highly recommend. This is out favourite breakfast/brunch spot. I had superfood pancakes and they were fresh and delicious. We're never disappointed with Loudons.

My partner and I were visiting for the weekend and really wanted to sample a traditional breakfast, and Loudons really delivered. Their service, food quality and cleanliness couldn’t be faulted, and their technique for dealing with the social distancing was very professional. Thank you.

We had just arrived in Edinburgh on a 3-day city break and given the fact we visited Loudons on a ‘Eat Out To Help Out’ day, we were pleasantly surprised to have been seated straight away and served great food and drink. We had the Mac Daddy and Huevos brunches with Haggis Bon Bons and two fruit juices. Delicious!! The Mac Daddy (as pictured) was unreal: two english muffins topped with mac n cheese, pulled pork, haggis, poached eggs and sweet chilli jam.

We had lunch, booked in advance because of covid restrictions. We were taken on time to a well spaced table, so felt safe. We had the power bowl, and the haggis/beef burger - both delicious. Then a coffee walnut between us, which was enough. It's a lovely restaurant for a lunch or breakfast. The food is freshly prepared - you can see the kitchens. Staff are all helpful and very friendly.

Visited with family for breakfast. Good choice on the menu, full breakfast was delicious, loved the haggis. Good atmosphere and well managed. Staff a little hard to catch their attention but was full the whole time we were there!

Went here after booking a long weekend birthday trip to Edinburgh from Leeds and due to covid needed to book all our meals out to ensure we could get tables etc. I researched brunch spots and this one was recommended and I’m glad we went. Lovely open space, nice seat at the window, hand san upon arrival and staff wearing masks. I asked what eggs benedict dish the waitress would recommend and she chose one that came with haggis, black pudding and bacon, I was a little nervous as I hadn’t had haggis for years but it was delicious and came with a lovely tomato chutney. My boyfriend had salmon and avocado scrambled eggs with toast, they even kindly let me choose a slice of cake free for my birthday - we had the lemon and lime and it was tasty. Would definitely return when we’re next visiting Edinburgh

Loudons is forever a favourite of mine and as my first venture eating out after lockdown that has not changed! Staff were lovely and smiley (despite the masks) and service was speedy; they didn’t mind my dad being 20 minutes late and were fab with my doggo! I felt so comfortable and safe and clean, it was perfect!And, as ever, my Loudons Benny was heaven! My turmeric and black pepper latte topped it off perfectly! The prices are always reasonable taking into account location and quality so, with the eat out to help out discount it felt almost too low . Thank you all, I will be back (especially now I am sure you are dog friendly!)

Ondanks dat we niet hadden gereserveerd hadden we in Corona tijd toch binnen 15 minuten een tafel. Aardig en attent personeel, die ondanks de drukte toch tijd voor een vriendelijk praatje maakten. We hebben gekozen voor de 'scrumbled eggs with Scottish salmon and toast of homemade breed and extra topping of avocado'. Het smaakte fantastisch. Als we weer in Edinburgh zijn, komen we zeker weer langs bij dit etablissement.

Loudons are currently taking part in the Eat Out to Help Out scheme, offering 50% off on Mondays-Wednesdays in the month of August. Friendly staff adhering to the government guidelines (wearing masks and social distancing) who provide good service. Customers are encouraged to sit outside but there are plenty of spaced out tables inside also. Contactless payment is encouraged.I ordered the turmeric, mango and banana smoothie, and the mac daddy eggs benny (haggis, pulled pork, mac and cheese, chilli jam and two poached eggs on toasted English muffins.) The smoothie was light and refreshing to combat a heavier meal. The haggis was slightly too salty for me, but the pulled pork, mac and cheese and eggs were perfect. Came with a little side salad of rocket and spinach.

Superb food and hot drinks for breakfast. So accommodating for babies with good clean high chairs and baby changing facilities and a great children’s menu which had healthy choices on. Excellent service, highly recommended.

Comfortable restaurant, big enough for adequate social distancing but food was average (Not so scrambled egg!!!) & staff were ok

We were given a warm welcome to our booked table. A jug of water immediately delivered we ordered coffee whilst choosing from the menu. Bennys (Muffins with different toppings) seemed a great idea and so they were when we tucked in later. A fusion of different flavours was the best way to start our first day in Edinburgh. Kept us going All day until our evening meal. Brilliant!

We were taken to Loudons for brunch by my in-laws who know Edinburgh very Well and were very impressed. Lovely setting, the food and coffee were amazing and the service was excellent. We’ll definitely be back.

We visited from Oxfordshire and wanted to try tradition and favourites so went all out. We had a traditional breakfast each and then some heavenly pancakes. It was well worth it! The only niggle (which ordinarily would be lovely) was sitting in a window seat and being uncomfortably warm!Highly recommend this lovely place, would go back again

What a great brunch menu! Wonderful food, coffee & service! It’s not an easy environment for restaurants with all the restrictions but London’s has done a real top notch job with this and ensuring the customers are still comfortable and well taken care of.

Nice food, very large space which seems to be popular.You’ll have to queue on the weekend to get seated, we waited for about 20mins. The decor seems to have stepped out for an Ikea showroom, clean and simplistic. Food was good, pancakes were delicious.Took a while for our order to be taken and also a while for the food and drinks to actually arrive

Loudons is a wonderful neighborhood breakfast spot just a few blocks from the Grassmarket. More of a restaurant for locals, it seemed, we ate there several mornings during our recent visit to Edinburgh. The food taste, quality and presentation was consistent from day to day as was the terrific service. Their mochas are the best in the UK and the staff really did their part to ensure the experiences were perfect! Highly recommend!

For a busy place it surprised me how they managed to still make me and my partner feel welcome. Really enjoyed the full breakfast, love how the beans are homemade! Very rustic. Very generous portions and well worth the visit. Will come again!

Great atmospehere, really good breakfast all food wa shot and tasty. Glad we got in early as there was queue when we left.

I came here for lunch with my daughter. Its a very popular venue so you may have to wait for a table, & understandably so. Situated close to our hotel, with a clean, bright and congenial environment; pleasant, helpful staff, and good food. I had the Loudons burger with wedges, & an apple juice, & my daughter had The Mac Daddy. Both meals were good, tasty & worth the money we paid. We enjoyed it so much, we returned the following day & both had a full breakfast, which was equally as good. I have high standards of hygiene, & would happily recommend this cafe.

We found this gem online and after reading the menu we absolutely had to go - it did not disappoint.The food is fantastic and great value for money, the service is fast and attentive - it was so good we went twice during our 3 day trip to Edinburgh!Avocado on toast is a must.

Had a lovely breakfast at Loudons. Lots of hot and cold drink options available with smaller and larger breakfast meals. Highly recommend mango banana and turmeric smoothie. A welcome break from the Scottish weather. We arrived early on a Saturday thinking it would get much too busy for a table but there were plenty of spare seats at 10/10.30am.

I‘ve had a toast with avocado, poached eggs, cheese and green and matcha shake. It was more than delicious! I could only recommend this place.

We visited on a Saturday morning and it looked really busy but we were seated and served quickly. I had the haggis and poached egg muffin and my partner had bacon and poached eggs muffin - both were lovely!! Would definitely recommend

The food was nice, they have plenty of gluten free options, but the prices are a bit high. Overall I would recomend it.

Menu choices are very good, and even better when you try them. Location was perfect for us, and what to tell about the service.

This place is an absolute jewel! We happened to walk past it while looking for coffee pit stop! There was a queue with a 15 minute wait that nearly threw us off but it was so worth it that we avoided our already paid hotel breakfast the next morning dor here.The food is well priced, very well presented and tasted just as good as it looked. The staff were friendly and attentive and work very hard given how busy it constantly is. On both occasions there were queues and it's obvious why. Breakfast, brunch, lunch, desserts and beautiful coffee. Do not walk past!

Stopped in here on a family day out in Edinburgh and had an absolutely excellent brunch. It was queued our the door throughout our visit but the staff were keeping everything working smoothly. We got our food remarkably rapidly and it was all excellent quality. Home made and fresh. Thoroughly recommended and good value for the standard offered

I was in a party of 4 who visited Loudons on Sunday 01 December 2019 for breakfast having decided to pass on the offer at our chain hotel accommodation. We were not disappointed. Fabulous fresh food served promptly by attentive staff. Oh, and to finish, as a historic car buff, I just loved the pictures of the Volvo P544.

6 of us friends went here for breakfast. Plenty choice and wonderful food served by very friendly waiters.

We had an early morning Sunday breakfast at this place while in Edinburgh for a long weekend. The staff were all so friendly and the food was just delicious. My husband had the full breakfast and enjoyed every bite. I had the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. It was a massive portion and every bite was so tasty. We also had a couple of the fresh juices which were both great. We had passed this place about 9.45 on the Saturday morning and there was a queue out the door so first thing on a Sunday is definitely a good time to go. Loved our visit, just wish it was where we lived!

We’ve just returned from a short weekend trip to Edinburgh, on which we ate in Loudons in fountainbridge twice. Food was fantastic, suitable for all tastes vegan, gluten free etc and reasonably priced.

We stayed near the restaurant so it was super convenient for a breakfast before our trip to the castle. Service was quick and friendly. Food was delicious as was the coffee.

I couldn’t fault this place in any way the menu is suited to all dietary needs vegans veggies meat eaters and anyone with allergies. Service is superb! It is a busy spot so you might have to wait for a table but it is worth the short wait the food is served extremely quick

Honestly, this was probably my favorite meal I had in Edinburgh. Grabbed brunch with my husband- I had the haggis eggs benny (yum), he had something with delicious feta, bread, and avocado. Literally no idea because he gobbled it up so fast! Prices were reasonable and Philip, our waiter, was a gem. Really was impressed with the service we received here. Would definitely go back next time I'm in the area!

Φοβερη γαστρονομικη εμπειρία αλλα κυρίως εξαιρετικό σέρβις! Σε μια πόλη που είδαμε πολύ φιλικούς σερβιτόρους αλλα όχι ιδιαιτερα πρόθυμους ή επαγγελματιες, το Loudons βάζει υψήλα το δείκτη και δίνει εμφαση στις αναγκές μας! Ο χωρος πολύ ομορφος και άνετος καθως και η τοποθεσια καλη!
