Went to get a pair of boots for walking in the jungle. Enthusiastic sales staff who were charming , knowledgeable and very helpful. The service was excellent and of course I will comeback .

Came in for some cold weather hiking boots and tried on about 6 pairs. I believe Angus was who helped me. Really knowledgeable, good expertise and recommendations on what to get based on needs. Will definitely be back.

Extremely helpful, well stocked with most of what you would need for any adventure in Scotland. I was after a couple obscure things that weren't out on the shelves, Hannah happily went looking and found what I was after. Great service!

I don’t like buying things online, I like to see them in person and try them out. This often makes things awkward, tracking down stock / finding things in store (regardless of retailer, never fun), but today my experience was great. Phil and Fern were a great help!

Always bring our skis here for repair after each holiday so they can work their magic on them! They have a good variety of outdoor stuff for sale too.

Very strange store - I have visited for years and the staff always follow you round as if you’re a shoplifter- then when you need assistance they’re nowhere to be seen! When you buy something they kind of grunt instead of saying please/ thank you. Are they specially trained ?

I've had a mixed experience. I visited a few weeks ago and had a very helpful staff member guide me to a mountain equipment jacket, and price matched it to another store online. Today when I visited, I asked if they would price match as their rab trousers were over £20 more than other retailers, the manager came over said he was the one who made the decisions and told me to buy them online as he wouldn't match. Fair enough, so I went to GO outdoors, spent the best part of £500 there instead. I know times are tough, but I would have bought them anyway if the attitude was a little more welcoming and the other items I needed for a hike.

Not the most helpful staff doing on line returns. Travelled a long way to avoid returning in Xmad post. 5 days for bank transfer.

Had to return walking boots as too small. Got bigger size with no problem. Staff were friendly & efficient. Would shop here again.

Very confusing layout which makes finding what you want to become an endless journey. Men's and Women's clothing is mixed together throughout the store and it's difficult to tell which is which. Surely, it would be easier to have sections/department's.

Bought Rab jacket and paid £ 75 , after 3 months the zip failed but they wouldn’t replace even with confirmed proof of purchase. The store sent it away for “inspection”. After 4 weeks I got a refund. Poor customer service but they did play fair in the end. Pity they leave without your item for a long period

Scammers! Don't take your bicycle here for repairs! I usually perform small repairs on my bicycle myself, such as changing brake pads or fixing punctured tyres; but I am not a repair expert by any means. After my local independent bicycle shop closed I booked my bike in here for a small tune-up, hoping to get my breaks and gears back in good working order. Towards the end of the day their mechanic called me saying that the entire gear set, chain and brakes needed replaced, and quoted me a price of £260 for everything. This included some fairly ridiculous seeming mark-ups like "our least expensive chain is £75, but if you want to order a cheap one from Amazon, we'll install it with the rest of the parts". I was skeptical of this information, as my old local shop had replaced all of those parts only a year prior. As I have a low end road bike which I use daily to commute on the foot paths, he was essentially quoting me the price I originally paid for the bike when it was new a few years ago. As I have been considering upgrading to a new bike anyways, I decided not to have anything done and just picked my bike up the next day. As I was riding home, I realized that the mechanic had already tuned up / tightened my gear shifter, and it was now working perfectly. I put a fresh set of brake pads on and tightened the cables myself. With £16 worth of parts, some chain oil and an hour of work my bike is now functioning as good as ever; shifting through all gears smoothly and stopping on a dime. Just enjoyed an hour long test-ride in the sun, no thanks to Tiso. Luckily they didn't get a cent of my money, and won't be in the future.

Brilliant at fitting hiking boots. Philip was our fitter and he was very knowledgable and helpful.

The staff at Alpine Bikes (it's inside Tiso and appears to be a part of it) was very helpful, polite and friendly.

Love this Tiso branch, they usually have a lot of stock in and the staff are fantastic.

This is a great place to get new clothes for walking etc, however the store layout was a bit mixed. Having both mens and womens clothes mixed all throughout the store by category got confusing. I missed some items and also ended up having to check if items were mens or womens. My partner also found this a bit of a pain too. Trying to find a new fleece meant hunting round the store rather than fleeces all in one section. How can I make a choice if I need to remember where all the fleeces are around the store that i liked. I got so frustrated i left empty handed. The tiso is glasgow is split with mens on one side and womens on the others. Much more user friendly with all the same type of product together. The products are great, just the layout needs better thought.

Tiso is always good for a brows. Good selection of gear from trekking, climbing and mountain biking shizzel. Staff are pretty helpful too

This really is one of the best shop experiences I have had in 2021. I bought a tent from Graham Tiso online which arrived a few days ago. Despite putting up the tent, I really did have some questions. Consequently, I visited the Leith store to get some more information and to use the time wisely to buy some other products for a future camping trip. Fraser, I learned, is the store manager. I didn’t notice this at first but what I did notice was his quiet confident and positive way of making a customer like me feel less stupid about asking what others may regard as obvious questions. Fraser was knowledgeable, he gave examples, had ideas about footprint groundsheet versus tarpaulins. It became clear that he has a plethora of experience with tents of different sizes. Fraser went the full mile by actually setting up the same model of tent I bought from Graham Tiso but in the actual store. Seeing the demonstration of my tent and him explaining the things season dcampers take for granted but beginners would stumble on, left me so much more confident when leaving the store. I had other items to buy and the team were very helpful in procuring those. Graham Tiso in Leith last Sunday was a perfect example of customer service and real human interaction to help a fellow camper. First forward one week and I have now set up my own tent in my back garden for demonstration purposes and can now do it in such a short amount of time which means I have a good chance of having an enjoyable first experience camping on my own. Graham Tiso and Fraser, you rock!

The shop wasn't very busy so had the sole attention of one of the assistants. Bought a pair of walking boots, walking trousers and a jumper all with the help of the shop assistant. A pleasant shopping experience.

Decent range of clothing and equipment. Knowledgeable staff especially for the more specific sports such as rock or ice climbing. But pricey but there's usually a bargain to be had in the sales rack upstairs.

Bought walking shoes which let in water almost immediately so had to take them back within the month. They said they would send them away for analysis and if they were found to be faulty(?) we would be given a credit note. Wasn’t too happy about that as the dog needs walking every day and no shoes now!! After 2 weeks we still hadn’t heard anything so gave them a call, told there’s a credit note here for you no apology or explanation given. We went back to the store and picked a different pair of shoes, when we went to the till the women serving us seemed annoyed when we said we had a credit note waiting, again no apology or even acknowledgment of the inconvenience this has caused us. Leith is not a great place to get to at the moment. Not impressed and won’t be back!!

Probably one of my favourite shops to find equipment for camping or Hiking a bit pricey but its been holding on great!

I have always borrowed camping stuff from friends but this year I decided to buy everything I need. So I went to few well known stores in Edinburgh to look for options and seek advice. But only this store provided me with the help, advice and equipment I needed. Special thanks to Roan (Sorry if I miss-spelled his name) one of the young staff there with a great camping gear knowledge, He helped me a lot in my recent couple of visits.

What to say, since Nevis Sport disappeared this shop is my new gear supplier from boots to tents. Quality stuff but expensive a bit.

Staff were very helpful and gave great advise when I came in for some new walkin shoes. Even after me trying on 3 pairs and coming back the next day to return them. I would definetly com back if I ever needed anything else outdoorsy

The shoe section was too busy to ask for help, so I found myself a pair of trail runners that were comfortable in the store, but after my first significant walk, they started making my legs feel like a torque was being applied. Because they were expensive, I tried a couple runs in them until it got too painful. If the store hadn’t been so crowded and going against covid recommendations as far as distancing, I’m sure the employee would’ve been able to advise me on a better shoe. As it is, I didn’t fully expect a refund (John Lewis would’ve given one, though), but did expect at least a store credit, even if it were partial; I’ve spent thousands there over the last few years, and a lot within the last month, so it was surprising when the manager summarily dismissed me, as if I were trying to pull a fast one. As it is, I wasted £120 on unwearable shoes I could have gotten online for cheaper, but I trusted in Tiso as being more customer-oriented like John Lewis. If the manager had attempted to fake a bit of empathy, at least, it wouldn’t have been so disheartening. They are expensive, don’t have a great selection and they don’t provide the service to justify their prices. Should note that the employees, apart from that manager, have always been helpful, when not overwhelmed with customers.

Nice to know that you are getting advice from people who are as passionate as yourself. Great service and choice of clothes, footwear and equipment.

Always buy walking shoes and boots here for me and the kids. Boot fitters have always been very patient and we end up with comfy boots. Lots of other good gear here as well.

I was in a cordoned off boot area with limitation to one person at a time. Two women then came in this area after me, i was approached twice by a staff member to tell me it was only one person at a time. When i pointed out i was there prior to the ladies he did nothing and walked away. I was looking to buy walking boots for xmas present, and some clothing too. Some help would've been nice. Not impressed.

Absolutely shocking service...think the sales assistant was sleep walking...she was so slow...I went for a pair of le chameau wellingtons...nothing on show....asked for size 7....assistant comes back not got my size but have a size 8 hunter...if i had wanted an 8 hunter ...i would have asked for an eight hunter...very very poor...will never go back and will never recommend

Emailed about stock in the morn. Turned up after lunch to try on item which had been set aside and promptly bought it, plus £15 quids worth of add-on, nickknacks I spied whilst wandering. £90 sale to Tiso, new breeks for me win/win....

Great selection of outdoor clothes and equipment at a reasonable price. There is also a cafe here. They often feature new sustainable and local brands too. I highly recommend Tiso, the staff are actually passionate about the outdoors so know what they are talking about. Great place to pick up kit for an expedition, they have many stores across Scotland but is a family owned business.

What a fantastic team. I would drive a hundred miles to come here. Scott is amazing with skis. Full marks to Chris Tiso, a really well run operation.

I would gladly pay double the price of anything I wanted just to avoid this place and their staff.

I called to enquire if they had an item in stock. My question was met with a huge sigh from someone who could not have sounded less interested if he'd tried. He obviously had better things to be doing and it was painfully obvious he felt my enquiry was beneath him. Avoid.

I called to ask if they had an item in stock and in response the Tiso employee laughed at me before telling me "no" and then hung up. I appreciate some items are in high demand and as such there will be plenty of queries but it's still possible to demonstrate basic manners when dealing with these.

Love this shop but it seemed somewhat dark inside.

Went to Tiso shop in Edinburgh city centre - it closed up. So, down to Leith. Wanted to look at walking boots for me and also Goretex jacket / shell for wife. Markings on floor saying stay 2 metres apart. Sanitiser as you walk in. Fair enough. Trying to get look at male walking boots but was impossible - roped off - one customer dithering for about 25 minutes being the sole occupant. Another customer waiting. There has to be better way to organise this? Poor choice of women's medium size walking jackets given the season we are entering. Customers walking by you brushing near your shoulder or blocking where you want to go. Headache inducing. If this is the 'new Post/During Covid retail' - sorry , but laid out like this, it is not for me. In future will just get stuff to the house online and order 2 sizes - send the one back I don't like.

I felt compelled to write this review as over the last week I have been into the store in Leith three times purchasing various items and was somewhat disappointed with the severe lack of service, assistance and general feel of being valued as a customer. I would have thought if anything, staff would have been motivated and very customer focussed post ‘Covid-19’ closure. My observations would appear to show the approach is consistent, the last two occasions (Saturday 18th circa 1630hrs and again Sunday 19th around 1300hrs) no one approaches you to see if they can help, no one appears to be on hand to ask, often in twos chatting away looking genuinely disinterested, they see you are picking up items, they see you standing near changing room doors and glance across but still no offer to assist, meaning me having to go and disrupt their chat to request size checks and opening of the changing room doors. There are ample brands on the market that offer similar products, i.e. ‘Blacks, Ellis Brigham, Nevis Sport, Go-Outdoors so surely the staff can’t be so naive to think they are doing the customer a favour?...will certainly make me think twice about returning.

Even with social distancing and wearing a mask of course this was a pleasant experience staff were still helpful and very friendly

Big store with very friendly/helpful staff. Went in looking for a few specific things that I thought would be very common in these shops as I've seen them in other outdoor shops in Edinburgh, but they do not carry the brands or similar items. I did walk out with a new groundsheet.

This is a pretty big store with a sizeable range of specialist outdoor clothing, including North Face, Rab, Craghoppers, Montane, Jack Wolfskin and quite a few other brands also. They have a big selection of tents, kanoes, sleeping bags and other travel accessories. Really friendly staff, and free car parking available too just outside.

Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Ended up renting a fairly battered, used ice axe for the weekend for £15. Stupidly ended up losing it. Had to pay upfront £60 for a new one. Next time I will be just buying one in similar condition off ebay for £15.

Tiso at Leith seems to have a better range of stock than ever, and is a place you can rely on for expert advice from enthusiast staff. Learned a lot this visit about my own feet!

It does have a variety of outdoor gear but couldn't find any bike items?😕 as advertised outside also why is this stuff so expensive? we all know that its made by some poor slave in asia😨
