Food was bland, lacking flavour and overly greasy, the egg fried rice tasted like it was fried in very old oil. Probably the worst Chinese I've ever eaten.

Worse Service EVER! Went there on the 21/9 at the evening, were a group of 7. Two of us ordered a shared dish for two as the rest of us ordered a dish of our own, the waiter took out the the shared dish first, the rest of us was waiting for our food for almost 20 minuts before the waiter came back and we asked him where the rest of our food was and he looked at the table and realized that the food that i order was mixed with the shared dish, I told him that his collegue just set everything on the table without informing us which dish was the singel ones and that there are two dishes missing. When paying I told them that I refused to pay the entire bill but the waiter would not care and told us just to pay. He did not appologized at all, weill never come back to this place.

Dim sums is afternoon tea food, so the tripadvisor categories are wrong. Go there between 3-5pm, not for lunch, not for evening meals! I have lived in London for decades and I am a regular of Gerard Street and of the restaurants around it. Lotus Garden is my latest dim sums place. I have returned regularly since covid, either as couples or with family and friends. The dim sums are served piping hot. The filling is generous. They are delicious and are among the best in town. I chose number 1,2,3 they are the classic. Then the lotus wrapped glutinous rice and some cheung fun. All come in the bamboo baskets. The Vietnamese fried spring roll is good too. So is the roast duck (no need for rice or noodles if the lotus wrapped glutinous rice is ordered. About 3 per person. Add a fried noddles if you have teenagers. All vegetables dishes in Chinese restaurant are priced quite high, to be shared, not one per person! The secret? The first floor. In hot weather the first floor is A/C. It is quieter, and you will find the Chinese, East/SEA Asians and Londoners and their families there. During the Lunar festivities the Lion dance is best seen from the first floor. It is old fashion, but the price is also more affordable than elsewhere. I have always found the staff diligent and nice. The food has been particularly good in the past two months. Not a good place for vegan or even vegetarian food, although the fried noodles is good. Chinese restaurants serve mainly food with seafood or meat. It is an ordinary place, not a posh one.

To be honest I couldn't try the food, but the attitude I saw from the staff to the people was absolutely DISGUSTING!! So the situation: I just sit down on one of the outside tables and was looking at the menu. On the table next to me there was a single gentleman just finished his food (Obviously finished as he put his napkin on the top of the leftover in the plate). A random guy (looking as a homeless) pass by and went to the gentleman they had a few words that I couldn't really hear but the guy took the plate and removed the napkin from it then the Gentleman clearly said of course, enjoy much better then being wasted. Also he pass him his other plate that was wirh some leftover rice. The guy started eating fast, it was obvious he is hungry!!! The gentleman even invented him to sit and eat sitting on the table but the guy continue staying on the side. In a moment the gentleman collected his things and walked away.only then the guy sited himself and continued enjoying the meal....sadly not for long as few of the staff members came out, one of them went straight to the guy and try to took the plate away the guy jumped and got the plate in his hands trying to eat as much as possible before they took it. So there was pulling, pushing and shouting around. The scene finished when the member of the staff finally managed to get to the plate and spilled all the food on the top of the guy!!! I found this situation absolutely awful!! Don't see any humanity there! So the food went all over the street (very curious if somone had cleaned it at all or it just left there till the birds eat it) but the poor hungry homeless person is not allowed to have it!!! Sorry but the place is not fancy at all, don't see a problem especially after the food was given away with pleasure and good intentions! Food looked good but I wouldn't eat in a place with that kind of hospitality and humanity!!!!!

The food and service was definitely great at Lotus Garden when I was in Chinatown. They have a wide variety of dishes that are worth trying. There is a choice for everyone. From meat enjoyers to vegetarians and vegans. They also have a specific menu for their dim sum which runs until around 9 I believe. The atmosphere is pretty decent but it could be better. The area tends to be a bit noisy as it is Chinatown but it is not terrible. Overall it was a really good experience as I enjoyed the food, the service and what I tried. Their sprint rolls are big compared to any other spring rolls in the UK and they taste amazing. Additionally, I ordered chicken fried rice and I was amazed by how something that seemed so simple tasted that great.

The portion of duck was sparse (not that bad, it was dry and nasty anyway), the rest was typical "egg rice" and "gravy meat" mixture. The egg rice was slightly burnt, perhaps intentional. The tea was extremely thin. There were bone fragments in the soup. The food wasn't really warm. The price for this is a disgrace. After trying everything, we left the food and wrote off the price (we also observed other guests doing this). It's a shame about the space in our stomachs, there would have been enough nice options in London. The place is very loud and not that nice. Absolutely amazing dim sum! I loved all of it and will definitely visit again. Have some jasmine tea to wash your food down. Currently in a happy food coma!

Every mouthful delicious. Had selection of favourite dim sum dishes to share. Roast pork cheung fun, bbq pork steamed buns, rice in lotus leaves and crystal prawn dumplings. Could happily eat this everyday! Ate dinner here last night too and everything also perfect - only criticism is cold air from air con meant food went cold quickly (upstairs). We were on ground floor today so all okay.

Absolutely terrible service here. Card machine was thrusted in my face and not even a smile or thank you after paying a lot for what it was. Food was pretty standard.

Though the dim sum for starters were good, the main dishes were very disappointing and could not even reach the taste of a standard snack bar. Sorry, but no recommendation.

Came out on a cold January Sunday and was met with an enthusiastic hostess. Ordered the duck noodle soup, oyster beef, won ton soup and egg rolls. Food was delicious and very filling. So many to choose and I know we chose right. Love this place, recommend it and will be back.

The food was fantastic. By far the most delicious Chinese I have ever had - without a doubt! The service was good and the waiters & staff were polite and friendly. I looked up the restaurant online after eating and was shocked and disappointed to see such low reviews. I just want to say that the aforementioned low reviews in no way represent my experience at Lotus Garden, nor did they seem to represent that of the other people in the restaurant. I would highly recommend.

Service is very poor. Being brough to upstairs, the short lady with specs was impaient and rude. Ordered duck with plum sauce but came crispy duck. Take away box at 1GBP, and you have to DIY. If you are asian and cant speak Cantonese, dont speak mandarin. We made a mistake n conversed in mandarin, and was treated poorly.

We had a delicious meal here. A good kitchen with dedicated staff. There was a small queue (which says something). We were received professionally and within a few minutes we were seated at the table. The service was fast, correct and friendly. She had it under control. The food was of good quality and came to the table fairly quickly considering how busy it was. Compliments and recommended to everyone!

On Saturday in Chinatown, everywhere is busy including this restaurant, the service did feel rushed, we were pushed into the smaller upstairs room, staff were friendly enough with us, however the server dropped food on the stairs, the food was binned and fresh provide to the table, the food was good, what you'd expect, presentation was standard.
