Lotus Chop Suey House in County Durham

We have been going to Lotus Chop Suey House for years. It's our favourite takeaway 😋. Interestingly, the prices, except for chips (+40p), remain the same as pre lockdown. So now Chinese meal for two is a good bit cheaper than fish and chips 🍟 and that's for two fish, and one bag of chips!

Delivery was very early food didn’t taste great. Wouldn’t order again

The delivery arrived earlier than stated and was very hot. The food was very tasty. We have ordered from here a few times and have never been disappointed

A considerable amount of choice.

I must be missing something with the whole point of a delivery service as this takeaway only offer delivery with cash only. Delivery is supposed to be convenient but I have no option to actually pay by card. This means that we must go out and get cash so I’ve marked service and atmosphere as one star only as basic payment methods seem difficult for them. Food is marked low also as because we couldn’t get to taste it. Very Disappointing indeed

Wouldn’t even give it to my dog. 23 quid for a salt and pepper box with no salt and pepper chicken. Chicken balls over cooked batter to hard to eat and chicken to dry to chew. Ribs and wings overcooked and inedible. 26 quid for plain chips and sauce

Absolutely disgraceful got a munchy box that’s 23 pound on the app but in the shop it’s £15??? It wasn’t even enough for 2 people

Ordered for my elderly mam who was really looking forward to it. The meal was nice but they didn't send the prawn crackers she paid for. Very disappointed.

Food was diabolical, watery sauce with no flavour, chicken was chewy and salt and chilli chips had no seasoning whatsoever. rang them up to complain and they just told me "no water only sauce" Never leave bad reviews but this has to be the absolute WORST takeaway I have ever had in my 26 years alive. Absolutely avoid this place until they sack the chef, absolute dog food

Food was delicious, delivered and missing prawn crackers. Rang up and told a lady that they didn’t come with my order even though I specifically paid for them (£3). She responds to this by saying she will ‘give me them next time’. Didn’t offer a refund and ended it at that.

the sweet and sour Hong Kong king prawn was horrible, I have had the chicken before, it has a crispy batter. the prawns didn't and were awful. I binned it. it just looked unappealing and didn't taste too good either.

Food quite greasy and bland. The sweet and sour pork balls were dry but the prawn and chicken were nice. The beef pineapple is to avoid. It was some very strong beef bits and pineapple floating into a weird jelly. We did not ate it and it sadly ended up in the bin. Good point : food was hot and fast delivery with a nice delivery guy.

The food was delivered really early. The special curry I had with rice was delicious and piping hot. The chow mein my husband had was also very tasty. Again, we were not disappointed 😊

This is our go to Chinese, food is spot on, service quick, usually ready in 10/15 minutes so can’t complain at all.

Good delivery timing but meal was average and overpriced. Not bad for a Tuesday night but had much better.

Food bland, ‘crispy beef’ not crispy at all but soggy and with a horrible texture. Cantonese chicken had no flavour, sauce was watery, only packed with onions & a few mushrooms. Really disappointed. Would not recommend!

Really dissatisfied and disappointed, chicken was chewy and lukewarm, most of the food was bland/tasteless, and I have payed nearly £50 pounds, expecting it to be nice if it was that expensive, tasted like it had been cooked yesterday and warmed up 👎🏼

Ordered 2 king prawn chow mein and got 1 prawn and and 5 bits of chicken 🐔 in one the other just had all chicken in not be go again 😑

Quick delivery which was nice, but the chips were undercooked and the crispy beef in black bean had a lot of oil in the carton too

Ingredients were very salty and greasy , the black bean sauce on the chow mein was more like gravy with salty beans

Chinese sections of our order were lovely but the chips were a let down, looked better than they tasted (texture of undercooked oven chips). Out of town order so if you're local you may enjoy but not for me.

The worst Chinese we have ever had. Had high hopes from the reviews but the food was disgusting and old. Somehow everything was salty yet completely bland? Asked for no vegetable in the dishes, yet had vegetables in. Chips had clearly been sat out and were old, gravy non existent. Most of it went in the bin. Disgusting and a waste of £35.

Not used this place for a while and pleased ive gone back to it,house special curry was way nicer than where ive been getting from,rekindled my love for the lotus.

Disgusting food gave it to my next door neighbour. He said it was terrible too. Now trying to find something I can eat. Can’t fault the driver he went above and beyond as I was out when he got here but he kept in touch

When u get a delivery the food is good. You are told 40mins. 85min you ring and on his way 85min will be another 20mins. Only 1 driver and I said that's not my fault. She said it wasn't hers then hung up on me..don't know if I'm getting it or not...

Driver was fantastic, food however.. suspect. The egg fried rice was just boiled rice. The salt and pepper chips were disgusting.. like someone had hoyed salt on microwave chips, nee spice. Egg foo yung was half a portion at best.. howay guys!

Very poor service and poor quality food

Fast service as always. Unfortunately the spare ribs were in some kind of red watery liquid which leaked everywhere even though the box provided, it was not appealing or tasty. And no I didn't ring to complain! Shame the last few times it's been fine from there.

This restaurant makes a lovely duck dish always cut nice and tastes great.

The meals for 2 people were big enough to feed 3 adults. Highly recommended.

Ordered for the first time as my usual was closed. Worst Chinese takeaway I’ve ever had. Chicken wings were bleeding, prawns were undercooked, kung po sauce tasted weird and the prawn toast were very thin.
