Fabulous food highly recommended

The restaurant tried to charge me double the delivery fee after years of ordering stating the delivery address was now 4 miles away. Weird how it jumped 1.3 miles from 2.7 miles. Shame to try and grab extra money from customers who now won’t order ever again. Guess they must be doing well with all the extra profit and can afford to lose customers. Good luck to you

I mean, when I say the food is tasteless, they’ve actually been able to create food with zero taste, which obviously takes some effort, the food can only be described as terrible, the chips are stale, the rice is definitely over cooked microwave rice and the crispy shredded chilli beef was neither crispy or chilli. Do yourself a favour and eat from elsewhere, terrible Chinese

Food came early and was really tasty, we got free prawn crackers and fortune cookies which was a lovely extra. All came hot and fresh, would order again.

Of the 8 dishes I ordered as a takeaway, not one of them would I consider acceptable. All the food arrived lukewarm, which is bad enough. The food here seems to have been to reduced to the absolutely lowest cost to produce, I won't go into detail on any one dish as it was all outstandingly awful I am surprised a business with such poor standards can continue to exist in this small city, there are alternative Chinese takeaways, I recommend you try anyone of them. The only positive from this experience is that we didn't get any upset stomachs the day after and frankly I'm surprised.

Probably the worst Chinese I've ever had. Truly tasteless and watery. Chewy "crispy" beef. Duck was like mush. Even the sweet and sour sauce tasted watered down. A supermarket Chinese ready meal would literally be better than this.

First time trying the Lotus.... Will be the last aswell we had chicken curry / Cantonese sweet n sour chicken and chicken chow mein... The chicken in the sweet and sour was so tough could barely chew it... chow mein looked awful the chicken was a musky dirty brown colour... I checked the reviews and wasn't going to waste my time even trying to get a refund... DEFINITELY DO NOT RECCOMEND !!

If I could I wouldn’t give any stars!! Waited over an hour for my Chinese order only to find it stone cold covered with grease! My order was sweet&sour chicken balls and crispy beef. They were both so greasy (literally pouring and batter was damp and limp) and when we contacted Lotus restaurant- they weren’t helpful about the situation and I’m now hungry and out of pocket.Wouldn’t recommend and declined refund option when requested politely!!!

We had a takeaway on the 10th Nov and it was terrible. The chicken in batter was not fresh, it must have been deep fried 15 times and was rock hard. The sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style was strips of battered over cooked chicken with a watery sauce. Quite clearly we were eating the remnants of the previous days food. The Seaweed was ok !! £29 for rubbish. Get your act together, in these times of a credit crunch, a takeaway is a treat so you need to be on your game. One lost customer.

Visited here a few weeks ago with my family and the food and service was superb!!! Would definitely recommend to anybody looking for a hearty meal.

Delivery was quick. Chicken curry ok, Beef curry ok. Chips 90% uneatable, hard,small,crispy not same day chips! Would not order from here again!

When I rang to say that my £24 dinner was awful , they got someone from the kitchen, who said thI couldn't have a refund as there is nothing wrong with the food , I explained that there was a she refused a refund and hung up . Absolutely disgusting !!!! All went In the bin I am a type 1 diabetic and I had already put insulin in .

Worst Chinese takeout. The meat, rice, prawn toast was so dry and tasteless. The sauce in all dishes was just pure oil. The ribs tasted like dog food. Avoid at all costs. We rang the restaurant and they said it was our opinion. Poor poor service. Glad i Dont live around here.

Just had a take away dropped off and unfortunately for them I'm a chef and the wrong person to try and con. Prawn on toast without the prawn so basically just fried bread. A powdered curry mix, chicken balls fried to the point where they are mummified and the Peking chicken was so tough it went in the bin. Definitely have some cowboy in the kitchen I hate doing this kind of thing because I run a hotel in Hereford but to send that food out is disgraceful

Sorry guy's, I have been useing you for years however tonight's meal was the worst I have had from you, it was just bland and tasteless with a over dose of peppers. This is not the same quality I have been used to. Definitely not worth the money.

As a treat we decided to get a takeaway but due to where we live we are limited to who delivers to us, so decided to order Chinese from this restaurant... when the food was delivered we discovered that the pancake rolls were burnt to a crisp, the chips were dry and inedible and the sweet and sour sauce was just SOUR... I called to tell the restaurant only to be told that tats the way they cook them and the lady has just tasted the sauce and it’s fine.... terrible customer service and terrible food!

I checked by phone how long our order would be, 1 hour. It was one hour. Ordered on line, simple. However, the chips had been reheated many times resulting in them being inedible. The spring rolls were dripping in grease, the chilli dip that accompanied them was watered down from a bottle. Crispy mushrooms looked and tasted as if they had been cooked and reheated many times. The fried rice bland and the noodles swimming in grease. £15 wasted. Extremely disappointed and it’s now 3 am and am awake 7 hours after eating feeling queasy. Awful and yuk!

Awful experience ordered food on just eat for a pre order at 11am delivery was booked for 6.05 pm that night we waited till about 8.30 to get our food after being told they had no duck and replaced with something else and not refunded the difference! We tried to ring two numbers but could not get through at all,when it did come the delivery driver then said we had to pay another 3 pound on top of the 40 pound already spent!.at this point all ready angry that nobody picked up phone,my son stayed up way behind his bedtime and had to cook food for him as no food and was 2 and half hours late!!! Food was ok but a bit cold and not as good as other Chinese places in Hereford like personally the ruby snd mr wings.will never go back here again really gone down hill and has left a sour taste with us instead of a sweat one!!

I had ordered a plethora of food expecting great things as I had been recommended this by my partner who expressed that he has never had a bad experience from here. However; this simply was not the case. I had ordered my food and given a delivery slot of 21:55 which I thought was acceptable given that it's a Friday night only to my dismay that it had been delivered at 21:06 so 28 minutes after ordering (20:38). The delivery driver's attitude was nice and greeting however that was where the enjoyment had stopped. Upon opening my food, the Golden "crispy" beef, if that can even be categorised as such, was a poor attempt given that the flour itself was not even cooked. The beef was sopping with grease and yet it tasted as if it had never seen any hot implement to cook out the flour. 0/5. The spring rolls, again, were poor quality and tasted of plastic. The sweet and sour sauce tasted as if it had been drained out of an oil barrel as well as having the look and consistency of such. The chips had clearly been reheated and held under a hot holding service area as they were full of aged grease. The beef and black bean "sauce" was the worst thing that I have ever seen. A layer of oil on top, which I assume was to preserve it? As that would be the only reason you would have oil on top of a food product. The beef, again, tasted disgusting and as if it had been sat for hours. To add further injury to insult: upon trying to contact the restaurant for help and to try and reconcile with these issues, the phone lines were not approachable and therefore unable to fix this. I appreciate we are in uncertain times and all rushed off our feet in the hospitality industry but when trying to help local areas out, I do not expect to pay this amount of money for food that I qualify as inedible and abysmal. All of it had to be thrown in the bin after two mouthfuls. To finish my review, I would leave with this: to have food of this quality, I would not even serve to prisoners serving 30 years.

If you do not get BBQ sauce i would highly reccomend the lotus, 10% off orders on the site which is great!, although there ribs are chewy and taste more processed then other chineses, and there BBQ sauce is like a hybrid between the usual lovely chinese BBQ, and a thick smoky BBQ, do not get any BBQ items from here. Otherwise, the other food i've had is amazing.

Ordered a Chinese for four of us, the noodles in the chow mien were rock hard as I’ve they had just poured them out of a packet. The pancake rolls were soggy and cold. Not one member of my family ate more than a mouthful. Not to mention it arrived late. When we rang to tell them I couldn’t believe how rude they were. They called me a liar, told me there was nothing with the food and put the phone down. Disgusting food, disgusting customer service and I can honestly say it was that bad I threw it in the bin I wouldn’t even put it in my dogs bowl.

Ordered a takeaway from lotus, 30/09/2020. Deliveroo app i can not fault. The food i may add though. Poor quality, very watery for a beef and mushroom, vegetable noodle stir fry was not at all what it was said to be... in fact it was a noddle with chicken spice with hot peppers in it. The crispy shredded beef with sweet peppers was wet soggy looked like it came from out the freezer and microwaved. No sweet peppers at all or sauce. When I rang for a refund I was politely answered but told to get stuffed no refunds.... I would not recommend lotus. Please ignore the serving dishes I transferred into dishes myself ;) not a lotus jobby...

Ordered takeaway from lotus and I am beyond disappointed. The ‘crispy’ noodles were like rock hard instant noodles. The ‘crispy seaweed’ was fried cabbage....I know what seaweed looks and tastes like and that wasn’t it. I don’t like being lied to and conned out of money.

Our food was absolutely beautiful, generous portions, cooked perfectly, we also had a fortune cookie witch was so lovely! Absolutely brilliant service, highly recommended restaurant, me and my partner really enjoyed the food 10/10 😊

Boss name was Helen and she said she didn't have time to speak to me and that there was no way I could be telling the truth. After a long talk and hearing the phone being passed around various members of staff unwilling to take the the time to refund us, whole audibly complaining about us, she said they would refund me £20 of my £35 order but that she didn't know how to do it so it would have to wait until one of their staff members could do it. I was assured I would be refunded by the end of the night. I have received no money and when trying to call Lotus it goes straight to voicemail. We threw the food in the bin and ordered a new meal with New Jasmine House in Creddenhill, service was excellent and food delicious. Maybe Lotus should take some tips from them.

Worst Chinese we’ve had in years. Won tons no filing Ribs - just bone Satay - not sure it’s seen a peanut - but to be fair edible Crispy beef worst I’ve ever had. Soggy, chewy, slimy - tasteless except for the big chunk of orange peel.

Food was pretty bland. Ordered chicken satay and hot&sour soup for starters. The chicken ‘satay’ was just chicken skewers covered in curry sauce! Hot and soup soup bland.Special fried rice was average. Advertised with squid and king prawn, had one small prawn an tiny sliver of squid. Sweet&sour chicken was average, crispy shredded beef was extremely overcooked, and sauce tasted of nothing.And to top it off, spent £32 and didn’t get free prawn crackers.Would not recommend.

I am very disappointed all of a sudden like so much celery, not good beef, only meat with veins and only five pieces of meat. sauce that you can swim in it I understand the bad time is now but not at all costs the customer will accept everything

Just had the worst meal ever. Was supposed to be a birthday treat takeaway however it had to go straight in the bin. Disgusting is the only way to describe it. Crispy beef may have been crispy yesterday but just a soggy stuck mess. Noodles dry and tasteless. Everything awful Cold. Just had a takeaway delivered from here and the chicken curry tasted like a bottle of perfume had been poured over it. Called to complain and got told that’s there curry nothing they could do. Honestly the worst food we have had if advoid this restaurant at all cost!

Greasiest, nastiest most unappetising Chinese I have ever had, only leaving 1 star because I can’t leave less. AVOID under all cost, wouldn’t even feed the food to my dog. Thanks sons crying now.

The worst Chinese food I’ve ever tasted , I asked for crispy noodles with meat and they were drowned in a rank tasting sauce , ( super noodles would of been better ) chips were over cooked , the rice was ok ish , nothing looked nice at all , will never go back here

I ordered a takeaway by phoning up and the person on the phone kindly told us there would be a 2 hour wait due to how busy it was which was no problem for us. When are food arrived it was very enjoyable, we will be ordering again soon :)

Booked & paid for a meal. Took an hr to tell me that they’re closed!

We had beef in black bean and a few other things. I don't even know where to start. The beef was grey and the sloppy mess it came with hadn't ever seen a black bean. Inexcusable.

Ordered tonight an after over an hour and a half wait, it arrived cold. We reheated in the microwave but all tasted disgusting and eventually threw it in the bin and cooked something else. So disappointed, what a waste of our money and time. First and last order with lotus.

Ordered a huge amount for a friends gathering and was highly disappointed! Crispy beef...there was nothing crispy about it more like sat in congealed gravy. The Singapore noodles were very dry! Chicken curry was bland! Absolutely no taste in the food. I have ordered from here previously over the years and always had great food but over the last month the food has been terrible! We had 2 pots of sweet and sour sauce, well, this was very thick, bright orange and resembled slime that had been made and sat out to dry! Pictures are included. Very disappointed! Won’t be ordering from here again!

Waited 2 hours for the chef to call me and say they had none of the food I ordered. His staff was too embarrassed to call apparently, so they let me wait all night without food. Class acts!!

I have used the Lotus on many occasions in the past but unfortunately after my latest experience I won't be using them again, not when I can find nicer food at other Chinese takeaways like the Ruby in town.

this is the second time that i have used this restaurant and both times the food has been excellent. it a nice cosy atmosphere, and we plan to go back within the next couple of weeks .

My partner is vegan and found pork in both of his vegetable spring rolls this evening, nearly ingesting one of the several chunks inside. After 7 years meat free this subsequently made him quite unwell.

Placed an order with them via the Just Eat website on a Monday afternoon. The restaurant cancelled the order Google states they are not open on a Monday. Why advertise your menu on just eat and take payment for an order when you can't fulfill an order as you are not even open?

I ordered food this evening and was given a delivery time of 7.40. I had to call them twice to chase the delivery and it didnt arrive until 9.10. So frustrated and was so hungry by the time it turned up. It was lukewarm at best which made it almost inedible if i hadnt been so hungry i wouldnt have eaten it.

Very friendly and cosy restaurant. Staff were very professional and happy to help with special requests. The meal was served in style and the flavour was superb. One of the best Chinese meals I've ever had. Will certainly visit again.

I have been to this restaurant regularly for years and have never had bad service or food. We are always welcomed warmly, the service is prompt without being intrusive and the food is excellent, and it still would be good value at far higher prices than it is.

The Manager and employee's always do the best they can, very kind and helpful. The food is always brilliant and cooked to a very good standard. The meals are also quite plentiful and the food is well presented. A wide selection of choices are available and lots of vegatarian options too.

This is the best Chinese restaurant in Hereford. Every time iv been the food and service is excellent. They will also go out there way to decorate for a birthday celebrations, with banners and balloons. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

The service and the food is excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Also if you let them know it's a special occasion they will make sure they will decorate for the occasion. The Lotus never disappoints x

We had a very nice meal here. It was my brother in law's choice and indeed I'm not sure I could have found the place on my own. He had been several times before. All the food was delicious. I had the special fried rice, a generous portion. There were no sweets offered but the complimentary ice cream was welcome. What did surprise me though was the fact that we arrived at 7.15pm on a Friday night and we had the restaurant to ourselves. The floors are very uneven for the visit to the loo upstairs making me wonder if I had a little too much to drink!

Last here a while ago, but visiting friends in Hereford, so we all decided to revisit The Lotus. Great freshly cooked food, served efficiently, piping hot and with a smile. Tasted delicious. We will be back!

Was 2 hours late and stone cold

Excellent Takeaway delivered last night. Enjoyed by the whole family, Meal was hot, which can be unusual for a delivered meal. Food was well packed and leakages. Most importantly, meal was lovely tasting,

We ordered and we're told 8pm. At 8.30pm the website said it had been delivered and we phoned to say it had not. It finally came at 9pm but it was missing one item and they had substituted another item for one of the things we had ordered. So 2 items wrong.
