We were recommended to this eclectic out of the way cafe by friends. Tucked away off the A507 we were greeted by a 20 year old ex-feral cat called "Oggi" who seemed not to notice the budgies and canaries in the cages that adorned the walls of the barn in which the cafe is situated. I think this gives an idea of the character of the place and coupled with the very pleasant staff made for a "different" coffee break. There is also a small farm shop and a bric a brac store under the same roof. Mus re-visited in the Summer when coffee in the courtyard would be very pleasant. Oh and the lemon cake was super.

There seems to be a big problem with their drains ! The smell in there was horrendous ! The toilets were worse .A very tired pub, tape holding down carpet and holes in the floor.Absolutely awful ! Won't be going back there in a hurry !

We booked afternoon tea for four about a week in advance, this was dealt with by the event organiser who couldn't have been more helpful, When we arrived the staff were waiting for us and conducted us to the old library where a single table was prepared for us. We had expected to be in the restaurant and to have a private room was a real treat. Our party included a vegetarian and a gluten intolerant guest. The Chef had prepared separate plates of sandwiches for these two as well as a seperate stand of glutent free cakes. There was a good variety of sandwiches which were obviously freshly prepared and well presented, the cakes and sweets were varied and excellent. The service was A1 and unobtrusive, fresh tea being brought in on request. We all really ate too much, but the food was so nice we just had to clear the plates :-) A very special afternoon for us and we shall return. We do enjoy an afternoon tea when we can ~ our overall service experience here was far better then at Woburn, much quieter and personal than that at Frosts at Willington and better service and fresher food than the at the Swan in Bedford,

First thing - empty at least 7 mixed tables free THIS WAS Empty AT LIKE 945 AM , Staff looked down their nose as if we knew they were FULL! Then said after being approached- we are full , never even asked what we wanted - and that would have been what 15 minute drink? We had no wish to eat I am shocked in attitude and ethos of the place - would not be willing to recommend or re visit
