Really wonderful little place hidden in a little village. Probably why we haven't been sooner. Plentiful portions and the best naan bread we've had out. Thank-you for a lovely meal , Susan and family

This restaurant is perfect for all age groups for it has kind service and FISH TANKS. It is just lovely. Sam age 9 Lopen Raj was recommended to us 5 yrs ago when we first moved to the area and we have never been anywhere else since. The food is outstanding with a large variety of choice from Indian and Thai to great burgers and steaks. The staff are always warm and welcoming so we would highly recommend. Dad age 40+

Great choice of Indian food and Thai food. Also Japanese food on the menu. We had the garlic nan bread with lamb shashlik and king prawn balti. Lamb madras with butter garlic mushrooms. Spicy poppadoms with all the sauces. Really tasty and authentic. Spent £92 for 3 adults with soft drink. Would highly recommend this restaurant. Staff are all friendly and welcoming

Kay and the team went above and beyond for my partner’s big birthday! The service was brilliant and all 30 meals came out in good time and there were no complaints from anyone - the food was amazing! Would definitely recommend a visit to the Lopen Raj!

I'm not normally one to write reviews but we've just had an exceptional takeaway from Lopen Raj! I have a very serious milk allergy and have never had an Indian takeaway before due to uncertainty of ingredients in dishes etc! The gentleman that spoke to us on the phone to take our order was extremely thorough and knowledgable and was able to advise confidently on everything I could have! When our order arrived, everything was clearly labelled that it was dairy free as well!! The food itself was absolutely delicious, everything was hot and fresh! Could not fault any aspect of the food or experience from start to finish!

Me and my boyfriend had a lovely takeaway from here which was absolutely tremendous. We ordered the King Prawn karahi and the Chicken Hundi Murgh. It was Absolutely amazing and was muchly appreciated. We've been coming here for a while and we will much more often in the meantime. It didn't fail to amaze us.

Always enjoy our visits here. Greeted as soon as we entered & shown to a table even though we hadn’t booked. The menu is extensive with some really interesting & unusual choices. Lovely friendly chap took our order & our meals followed swiftly. Reasonable, very tasty food & lovely service. Look forward to visiting again soon.

We have ordered delivery from here a few times. Tonight the meal we had delivered was phenomenal and the same quality as a sit down meal! The Prawn toast is the best we've had and both of the curry's were absolutely delicious with succulent chicken. The portions are huge. It is very good value for money and the best curry locally

We had a takeaway last night for the first time since the first lockdown was announced. Just wanted to congratulate the chef for our two delicious meals, which were full of all sorts of subtle flavours, and perfectly cooked. Mabrouk!

Had a delivery it was a little late but well worth the wait. The meals we ordered were delicious, I have ordered a few times before from Lopen raj and have never been disappointed. Definitely a five stars.

Was suggested by the place we are staying at but we have to say we are disappointed. Some parts of the meal were really good eg chicken tikka, rice and coconut soup but the sweet and sour prawns and bharjis were so tasteless and stodgy - so disappointing. probably wouldn't use again and would try other restaurants

Had a meal for 5 tonight on the buffet evening. It was fab as usual but we did have to wait for a while. However this wasn’t a problem to us as we were catching up with friends. Staff are courteous and hardworking. So pleased we live near enough to visit more often now lockdown is beginning to open up inside to eat.

We ordered for delivery and the food was truly excellent - plentiful, delicious and we'll be ordering again... and again... and again! Generous with the portions and more expensive ingredients, perfectly cooked and delivered quickly and in perfect condition - very highly recommended. The delivery was really well done and COVID safe, too. Very reassuring.

Such a delicious chana daal, aloo palak, peshwari naan and basmati rice. Yum! Thank you. The Tom yam soup was also great.

Sorry I don’t agree with bad review about nhs this place gave the local hospital FREE yes FREE quality food , they don’t have to give us nhs workers any discount they are a business and must be finding lockdown hard as all other business are so let’s support local businesses not slag them off , I have to say 5star service every time and good quality food , without this place it’s a long way to find another great take away

Poor, poor service... called for a take away, they confirmed 20% NHS discount, I said I’d be bringing wifes NHS card as she’s still working.. (until meal arrives)! No problem the chap said. I arrive to pick up and told that in order to get discount wife has to be there... he was not interested in what his colleague said on the phone. No terms and conditions on menu to say this and at odds with his colleague. I left empty handed. Cost would of been £60. Clearly they must be making loads of money. Poor poor customer service..... very frustrating

Because of the covid-19 situation, we couldn't eat in the restaurant. So I and my family ordered food to be collected. Our food arrived on time, and the service was quick. even though we didn't eat in, the food was fabulous. My family really took a liking to the chicken biryani, along with Peshwari naan and the lamb tikka. I would 10/10 recommend.

Found this gem as I was driving through south Somerset. Thought i would pick up a quick meal during lockdown and it was the best decision. Finally got to try authentic tasting curry in a long time. The service was spot on. Will definitely be back again.

Even during all this pandemic, Lopen raj never fails to deliver the quality experience of their food. This is my first time ordering takeaway dinner from them, so I was a bit sceptical if they could deliver the same taste and experience I was seeking. I ordered some Indian with some of their Thai starters, and it was absolutely delicious! Me and my wife were shocked how they provide such succulent, piping hot food to our doorstep in such a short period of time. One of my favourite dishes was the garlic chilli chicken and the lamb jalfrezi for the spice lovers.Overall I highly recommend you at least try out their food and I guruantee you will not be disappointed Thank you Lopen Raj for this pleasant experience I will be ordering very soon.

Ordered a takeaway for collection, as when we had one before delivery was 45 mins late. When we arrived to collect, had to wait extra 20 mins for food...joke. Got home they had forgot our poppadoms also, rather than a chicken tikka masala, a PRAWN tikka masala was given to us (good job none of us has a seafood allergy). We rang up to tell them and they said they’d deliver the missing/correct food, we didn’t want to risk this so went to collect. We got there for the second time and they had literally given us the correct curry and missing poppadoms, no apology or extra rice to eat the curry with, disgusting. After the lady told them to give us more rice because we said we now don’t have any to eat with our curry, WE OVERHEARD THEM CALL US LIERS, how unprofessional and disgraceful, I asked to speak to him but he didn’t come out because he was ‘too busy’. I am annoyed they have our money so unhygienic (had no masks on or gloves when literally picking up rice with bare hands, the kitchen door was open so we could see this) and appalling staff... STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE

I visited with my mum and dad on Sunday evening for the £20 all you can deal. You order dishes from the menu and there are no exclusions. It was great and real value for money. Couldn’t fault it. They even let us take the small amount of leftovers we had home.

Ordered food online and waited for 1.1/4 hours not a problem it's busy (sat evening) then called them and they seemed like they had forgotten about the order, they said it is just leaving now then 15mins later I had a call from them saying that they are running late and it will be another 15 mins so nearly 2 hours and two very hungry children that had to eat something else instead, I wouldn't mind too much but the chicken was all massively overcooked and not really worth eating, shame as this place came highly recommended by family not worth the £65 odd that was spent by a long way

It’s a a terrible shame that a zero star isn’t an option, the only the thing worse than the food is the customer service, ordered at 6:15pm for 7:30pm delivery and after several phone calls the food arrived at 8:30pm, soggy & inedible, needless to say it went back with the delivery driver who in fairness was lovely. I wouldn’t order here again if my life depended on it! For gods sake, pay cash if you do order from this dump, otherwise you won’t have luxury of returning the swill

We came as a group of 4 not realising there was a Wednesday deal of £19.95 all you can eat! The food was stunning the service was fantastic all in all a great evening. Thank you so much to all the staff that looked after us. We will see you again very soon

We were impressed by the menu and portion sizes. If anything for us we found the portions too large (if that’s a thing?!) you can easily share them. The staff were welcoming especially as we had a young baby with us. No complaints at all.

Delivery service is so bad that they now refuse to deliver to a slightly out of the way location. However.... the takeaway is a firm favourite - palak paneer and dal tadka, with naan bread being my personal favourites.

We have had several takeaways from this restaurant and they have been very nice and tasty. Tonight, the usual Sunday takeaway from anywhere, everything tasted the same no matter what. What a shame, do all Indian restaurants just mix up what’s left over and get rid of it! Was so looking forward to the meal, time to move on.

Booked online for 18.30 received no email apart from saying good so far.Drove over an hour and half as a303 shut. Lots and lots of people there all coming in for 18.30 to be told they had rejected our booking!!!! Nice of them to let us know yesterday so we book somewhere else.

very slow service some of the veg dishes tasted a bit off. needed to send back one curry as it was inedibly salty. it was quickly replaced though with a more edible version. thankfully was in the eat out scheme, else would have been a total waste of money.

Paid a visit here last Tuesday,the first time since lockdown eased, it was lovely, I felt very safe in the restaurant and social distancing was strictly observed. The waiting staff were wonderful, the worked so hard, the restaurant was very busy,with people using the government discount scheme and so very hot with the heatwave. Our waitress was very polite and helpful and waited on table efficiently and skillfully. I will definitely be eating here regularly.

First time at the Lopen Raj, interior of the restaurant quite plain but the service was very friendly and welcoming. The meal (we were with 8 people) was superb, one of the best Indians i have ever had, I had a chance to try everything our party ordered and all the curries, sides, and extras tasted fresh, unique, and full of flavour. And very reasonably priced too. Definitely will be our go-to Indian when we are back in the area.

Early Tuesday evening (5.30) COVID19 meal. Excellent service and fine food. Clearly getting ready for a busy evening thanks to the Government's support. Safe well dressed in mash and gloves. Lots of space between tables. Fine food. I would recommend a visit. I will be back.

Didn't know what to expect as it was our first night out since lockdown .(4 in our party.).We were greeted by friendly staff at the door , shown to our table , noticeably the air conditioning was a welcome relief, during the heatwave..Our waitress could not do enough to make us feel welcome and special. She offered poppadoms with dips , that were very moreish., Took our order , considering the restaurant was full, there wasn't a wait for our main meals to arrive.The food was tasty, well cooked and presented.Also there were takeaways being sent out, the staff remained professional and working non stop.When we asked for our bill the waitress kindly did 4 separate bills for each of our party to pay indiviually, which we thought was really professionally managed.We will definitely eat there again , superb service throughout our time at the Raj...

It should have been a warning when we arrived and had to wait 15 minutes for our booked table, in part because the manager was dealing with an upset customer. Eventually we were seated and ordered some poppadums. Drinks arrived and the waitress spilled the beer over my poppadum. No ice for the kids drinks (apparently they have an ice machine that cannot cope with too many customers). Becks Blue beer (already tepid) was served in a warm glass. At least the Cobra was cold. 100 mins after our reservation slot we were finally served food. The vegetarian dansak was made with frozen veg and had no spice to it, despite being 2 chillies on the menu. Hipp Baby Mush comes to mind. The garlic chilli chicken contained no garlic. (I was told that the chef uses a garlic puree, but there was no clue to this in the flavour). I asked for the garlic chilli chicken to be served vindaloo hot. It wasn’t (though it was strangely sweet...). It later transpired that the waiter forgot to pass this information on to the chef. The waiter was waiting for me to say something, but as we had complained about so much by that point, I was too embarrassed to keep moaning. But it turns out the waiter was WAITING FOR ME TO COMPLAIN BEFORE FIXING MY MEAL. They did take the cost of the garlic chilli chicken off the bill, but it really doesn’t make up for the whole experience. It some ways it was quite funny: watching the poor waitress wandering around asking each table “did you order these two pints of Coke?” (no-one in the restaurant had!), was made funnier by one table saying they would have them because they hadn’t been able to get any other drinks. I have never had a poorer experience in an Indian restaurant. The service was a shambles and the food was substandard. I half expected this to be a candid camera show, and the walls would fall away and Michael Macintyre would be laughing his head off. No such luck. We cook better curries at home.

We ate here on a Wednesday evening, glad we booked, it was busy but very well managed. Due to distancing staff was short hence we waited between courses but staff we attentive and very apologetic. Korma and Pathia were lovely as was the price thanks to the Governments discount scheme. Nice evening overall.

We have been using this amazing restaurant since our discovery last year. We had our family boxing day meal there. Because my sister is a vegan. Since that moment we fell in love with the place. Over this awful time in lockdown lopen raj has been a literal lifesaver to my husband and I. They serve the BEST thai food ever. The thai green curry is exceptional. I have tried thai currys from many different countries and hand on heart the green one is the finest example of what I would expect to find in a wonderful meal. It has fragrant aromas while being so incredibly tasty. Also the peanut curry is divine. My husband prefers the indian food which he says is also excellent. It's nice to have such choice, where he can have indian and I can have thai without having the inconvenience of having to go to two different places. All of the staff are happy to serve, friendly and always smiling. I actually am so glad they have been able to stay in buisness throughout the entire lockdown period, making them our takeaway of choice! I think I could literally eat the green curry every single day! Haha. Thank you to all the lopen raj team. In particular Emon, the thai chef. For making my food so wonderful. Brilliant service.. brilliant tasty food we've had in a long time. Delivered in super quick time, but we did order late. Looking forward to our next "treat"

So disappointed. We have really wanted to support our local restaurants during these difficult times. We were so looking forward to trying Lopen Raj. I placed my online order at about 6pm for the first available delivery slot at 7.45pm. The website and online ordering process is very slick, logical and well thought out - even asks you to place a marker precisely where you live on a map. So a bit surprised when I get a call from the driver asking for directions - that really should have set off an alarm bell or two, but I told myself “these guys are going to work and doing their best etc.”The food arrived nearly cold. It must have been sat for a long while before making the journey to us. I told myself “that’s not so bad, these guys are going to work and doing their best etc”So, to re-heat the dishes in their plastic trays wouldn’t be too big a job and I was just grateful these guys are going to work and doing their best etc. So we’d heat as we go. Chicken Satay skewers first - amazing that chicken can be that tough and dry. It was like old leather and seemed to be welded to the wooden stick. Prawn toast, clearly from the same corner of the freezer as the Satay - tough and so overcooked. Honey ribs - very little meat but absolutely loads of goo, but not even nice goo. Crispy Duck just fatty duck with a tub of sticky purple paste, dry cucumber, dry and tough spring onions and a plastic packet of cold pancakes. Egg Rice with Chicken was my final hope, sadly the rice was very dry and the chicken was chewy. There was also a tub of sweet chilli sauce - I assume that’s what it was - but I couldn’t see where that fitted in. So we went hungry. We couldn’t eat any of it, I really tried, my wife did lots of microwave heating but alas there really was no hope. In the bag was a card asking for feedback. So I contacted them to explain but they were so quick to jump in to defence mode I figured they don’t care; they offered a 20% credit. I don’t want the credit. I’d like to try the Indian food menu but the Thai food was so bad at a really basic level I can’t see how they won’t make similar mistakes. I have no idea if other people went there when there was a different team or owner - but I have to assume so. I can’t recommend this place. I wasted £28 on food I couldn’t eat.

Ordered a takeaway to be delivered at 7pm. It arrived exactly on time, delivered to my door. A very tasty good quality Indian meal of the highest quality, not cheap, but worth every penny. Thank you for coping so well in these curious times.

Take away service!! Fantastic take away again, massive Vegan range, I don’t know any other Indian/Thai restaurant that offers such an extensive range of Vegan food. Delicious food, friendly service :) I can’t wait to visit when it’s safe to do so.

Yes the food is great but the level of hygiene leaves a lot to be desired. When delivering a takeaway there was neither mask nor gloves. This may not bother everyone but given the current restrictions?...................

We decided to treat ourselves to a delicious takeaway and we were not disappointed. The pasanda was absolutely fantastic but not as good as the bhindi bhaji. The chicken shashlik came with large chunks of chicken, as well as lovely big pieces of pepper, onion, and tomato. It was fabulous.

Went with nieces and nephew for nephew's birthday. Food was great, though rather spicey, very reasonably priced and the service was excellent.

The food is everything , and this is genuine Indian food . The Tarkha daal and aloo gobi hit the tight doors . You have to go to the hotspots if Britain to achieve the same quality . London , Birmingham , Bradford , Leeds and Manchester .

Great food as always, fantastic choice for vegan and no compromise on taste or amounts. Ryan the waiter was exceptionally good, very friendly and helpful, going the extra mile to have a conversation with us after our meal. Brilliant!

The other evening I telephoned a take away order from The Raj. 15 mins later I attended and collected my order. The staff were pleasant and I was soon in possession of the take away meal. I meal was as ordered and very good although my wife found the dansak a little too hot rather than sweet and sour.

4 of us 2 vegan really loved everything about this place last night. The vegan food was perfect, thank you very much for a great evening.

Went here on a very busy saturday with friends and had a delicious meal. One of the best curties I've had in a long time. Service was pleasant but a little slow, Maybe due to the very busy evening.

A group of 8 of us have had a fantastic night at the Lopen Raj. Food was great and so was the service. Big shout out to the young waiter, Ryan. Great conversation and engagement with us. Highly recommend the Lopen Raj!

We have eaten here before and noted how the excellence of the food is outweighed by the slowness of the service. This restaurant has space for many diners and also provides take-away food, and the size of the kitchen and its staff cannot cope on a busy weekend evening. Given that one pays more for dining in the restaurant than for take-away food, the latter should be sacrificed for the sake of the former. We received our starter course after 85 minutes, and our main course just under 2 hours after we arrived. The young lad who documented our orders (there were 4 of us) was using a tablet computer, but was clueless about how to do so properly. This resulted in errors with our starters and main courses. Once the food arrived it was excellent in quality and quantity. Perhaps if you come for a weekday lunch and the restaurant is less busy then you will have a better experience. If booking for a weekend evening, I suggest you reconsider unless you have all the time in the world.

The Raj had been recommended to us so we popped in on our way back from Yeovil on a Tuesday evening. Not busy, but the food was excellent - lots of different choices and a clear indication that the Indian food wasn't all from the same base. My husband sometimes suffers if there is too much ghee, but he throughly enjoyed the meal. Will definitely return to try the Thai menu

The foods here are amazing we all had something different. The thai is amazing. There is also fantastic entertainment on. The staff are awsome and always so helpful. Very clean restaurant. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Thai and Indian foods.

A lovely evening with my family. Ryan, our waiter, was very polite and attentive. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. My only criticism was the toilets are in desperate need of a renovation.

The food was average considering it was a very busy night, the staff kept the mood and spirits high, especially the young lad serving us. He was very witty and polite with his responses, and kind to us. Despite looking as if he didn't work there because of his attire, he seemed very experience in the way he served us. Overall i highly recommend this restaurant because the staff will make you feel at home.

We visited this restaurant recently as it had been recommended to us, it was very cold and they had space heaters on in the restaurant in the attempt to raise the temperature.

Onion bhaji was quite dry with only tiny bits of sauce on the side. Biryani was served in a bowl that had been baked in the oven and had flaky pastry on top, never see that before! Again the contents were a little dry not that tasty. Might try again though, maybe it was a bad night.

We were looking for a different Boxing Day meal experience and decided to give Lopen Raj a go. We were impressed with a fantastic menu choice including a wide selection of vegan options that kept everybody happy. Great food, great service and probably the start of a new Boxing Day tradition.

It's so great to have this excellent restaurant on our doorstep. The food is consistently good and the staff are very friendly. Couldn't rate it higher.

Called in for lunch and we've been to alot of Indian restaurants. So I wasn't expecting alot. OMG it was amazing. Friendly, helpful staff nice relaxing atmosphere. And the food was amazing. Portion size perfect. Hot and fresh would definitely recommend and will definitely be going back.

This was a fantastic £10 lunch deal. Three fabulous courses, all full size which you could pick from an extensive menu. Top marks, I can see me going for a Thai lunch regularly.

We've visited before, when it was crowded & the experience was poor. This time (a Sunday evening) it was far less crowded and we all enjoyed the evening.

I very recently had a meal with a few mate's @ the lopen raj. Service was excruciating ( as we were served by a 15 year old ) who was clueless, not to blame the kid though. The food was absolutely awful & ranks almost top of my worst meals had ever!! Word of caution if you don't want a bout of bad guts, then avoid @ all cost.

The service was relatively quick and the food tasted great, our waiter Ryan was a delight and added to our evening the food was quite nice although i wouldn't usually have Indian it was a all round lovely evening.

We were really looking forward to eating here after hearing good things. We booked in advance for a table for six and arrived on time. We were asked to take a seat in a tatty reception area as our table wasn't ready, we ended up waiting almost an hour to be seated with no apology or explanation from the staff. It was freezing cold in the restaurant so much so the ladies had to keep their jackets on throughout the meal. The food was OK to be fair but the clueless waiter didn't appear to know what each dish was we had to guess what the dishes were by looking at the plates!! The dining chairs at our table were ripped and tatty and the overall appearance of the restaurant is poor. What a let down after such high hopes, unfortunately we wont be rushing back.

Lopen Raj is consistently fantastic. We have tried a wide range of the menu now, have not yet eaten in as we always take away, but lovely looking place on the inside. Food is tasty, well cooked and portions are huge. There’s a wide range mostly Indian, some Thai and also a couple of Chinese dishes as well as chips etc so something for everyone on the menu. Staff always friendly, pricing fair. Can’t fault the place!

Four of us visited this restarant on an evening. The staff were polite and attentive. We were seated right away and offered drinks prior to ordering from the menu. 3 of us went for the Thai meals and 1 for an Indian meal. We were given plenty of time to check the menu before our starters orders were taken and then our main course meals. We worrried that the food would not come together as we were mixed in choice but we need not have done so for everything came when it should have. The staff were excellent and the food fantastic and well presented. when we had had our fill we asked for and recieved 'goggie bags' to take any left overs home.

Lovely food. Great choice and very tasty. Presentation was lovely and all our food was lovely and hot. Staff were brilliant very helpful and good at explaining the menu Will definitely return again.

had one of the best curry experiences of my life. Service is polite and not intrusive. The food is hot and tasty. The atmosphere is authentic and cordial. Such an amazing discovery. I can't wait to go back.

It’s a very beautiful Resturant. Staffs are very friendly. Food are great and test of a true Indian curry. It’s have big car parking. I will come back with my family again and recommend others to try the Indian here......

We had a delivery under a friends recommendation to a nearby town. As there were 8 of us eating the order was quite substantial.
