Loon Fung in Glasgow City

First time having dinner in Loon Fung last night. Staff friendly and attentive enough but my salt and chilli food just very average. Been and tried it will not be back.

Really like authentic Hong Kong style of Dim Sum. Really yummy! 😋

Hard to fault this place.Pleased I had my birthday celebration on Saturday, it’s a great lively space and tables worked well for a large gathering. Food was tasty and service was efficient a staff were very hospitable, plus good being good value for money.

Mi pareja y yo hemos estado yendo a loon fung durante unos 7 años y nunca ha decepcionado. La comida es siempre de primera categoría, así como el servicio. Fuimos hoy a mi almuerzo de cumpleaños. Nuestra camarera se acercó y nos saludó y nos dio té sin preguntar, esto después de que el camarero había sacado mi asiento para mí como un buen gesto. Luego pedimos la comida donde realmente no se puede ir mal, ya que todo está delicioso. Tendemos a quedarnos con 3 carnes con arroz, pollo pimienta negra y una mezcla de dim sum. Fantástico como de costumbre y nuestra camarera nos sirvió nuestro arroz, que era muy dulce. Este es un restaurante imprescindible en Glasgow, especialmente si te gusta la cocina cantonesa. Nunca tuve una mala comida fuera de allí y esa tiene que ser mi visita número 30 en 7 años. La comida no es más que pura calidad.

I always order take out here, first time dine in and the interior was amazing. 3 meats and scallops was amazing!

The best perking duck in town, the inside was breathtaking

First time here and it was a good experience. We had a mixed platter to start, which was good, the only downside was that the Prawn toast and spring rolls were a bit greasy, but it all tasted lovely. For mains, my wife had duck in plum sauce with fried rice, and I had the 3 meat roast with rice. Both dishes were excellent.we were both too full for desert, as the portion sizes are very generous, but my wife had a coffee and I had a pot of jasmine tea, which was lovely. Very reasonably priced and we will definitely go back. The staff were also very good indeed.

Overcooked and overpriced - first time visiting, ordered chicken satay and fried rice to takeaway. Chicken was crispy on outside and chewy, completely tasteless and almost inedible. £20 for 6 slim slices of dried chicken on a skewer is an absolute rip-off. Won't be back. Avoid!

Really impressed by the food and service.

Food was tasteless and not very hot. Plates come out warm but they don't bring the food out until your plate has gone cold again. Completely pointless and your food then goes cold very quickly.

Absolutely outrageous I wanted to book for Saturday 25th January and first booking I could get was Saturday 8th February wow and she had the nerve to say with a 5.30 booking you need to be out for 7 😡😡😡 with what they charge they want you in and out in one and a half hours disgusting I will never go near it what an appalling way to treat customers who the hell do they think they are!! I booked sloanes and spoke to a lovely girl and got a 3 hour booking!!! And they are busy so get your act together instead of alienating customers

Hay unas cuantas mesas sin usar a pie de calle y luego el restaurante principal está en la parte de atrás, al entrar, que afortunadamente estaba bastante lleno de comensales asiáticos (¡Buena señal!) Probably the most authentic and delicious Chinese restaurant I’ve been to in the UK. 10/10 would absolutely recommend!

My first meal in Scotland before starting my highlands trip. Ordered 2 roast meal with rice and I was shocked by how enormous the dish (especially the rice) was and the dish eventually brought me misery as I didn’t want to waste food. But it turned out that the calories helped me to feel energetic the next morning when I had to take the bus at 6:40am. The roast is much better than I was expecting, the duck didn’t have any unpleasant taste as they usually do if not handled well. I would highly recommend. Suggestions: could add more veggies and greens to keep it more balanced.

Excellent Chinese restaurant, authentic and tasty. Lots of options to choose from. I hope to go back soon. It’s in the ULEZ area so difficult to reach if you have an old car!

The restaurant is great and the food was as expected but the staff who attended to us almost ruined our night out. We had book from 1:30 till 6pm but he kept on pestering and arguing with us to leave by 5:30pm. We have serious reservations about booking this venue for future events because of the way we were treated.

Delicious, authentic Chinese dishes. We enjoyed the three roast, some Chinese veg with garlic and delicious roast aubergine. They had run out of aubergine so sent someone out to buy more...we were unaware until we asked why our food was taking so long, we'd probably have chosen something else had we known. There's a huge menu to choose from and everything is freshly prepared and delicious. We've already returned a second time!

As I am a vegetarian, i felt there won't be much options but the place did have good options. So i would definitely recommend to try out the cuisine.

Todos los que tocaron nuestra mesa fueron amables desde el principio hasta el final. Pedimos masivamente estas porciones son grandes. El Dim Sum es grande. Nos costó £ 42 para todo nuestro almuerzo más un vino y una cerveza. Teníamos una comida muy agradable planeada para la noche, pero todavía estábamos llenos, así que no fuimos! Sopa caliente y agria - excelente. Carne hofun - delicioso, pero necesitaba salsa de soja. Dumplings - todo delicioso. Punto malo - no hay salsa para mojar o soya en la mesa. Todavía lo disfrutamos mucho, volveremos. Gran restaurante!

Exceptional tradition Chinese restaurant - attended here with 22 work colleagues in a private room. Staff were very knowledgeable and the room was modern, clean and even had a karaoke machine for some after dinner fun. Highly recommend!

There’s a good reasons restaurants stay around a long time and Loon Fung is rocking out classic Cantonese cuisine & dim sum . Friendly , relaxed service …. Classy private dining and Kareoke rooms. Seafood is excellent and a gangster XO sauce! Definitely recommend & can’t wait to go back!

Never been disappointed in this restaurant. Their food is the best Chinese food in the town. The staff are amazingly friendly, and they gave us a fruits plate after we finished our delicious meals. Appreciate it. I’d really recommend it for all the Chinese cuisine lovers. Thank you x

Las comidas son caras y sabe soso. Ordenado 3 asado Ho diversión. La salsa era insípida y las porciones asadas eran pequeñas. La piel del pato asado era negra cuando debía ser roja y mayormente de huesos. El cerdo asado estaba en trozos diminutos y el char siu era gordo y teñido. Filete de pescado ho diversión no era mejor masa de pescado estaba empapado y ho diversión era de nuevo soso. También pidió un plato mixto de verduras donde las verduras estaban medio cocidas y crudas y era sobreprecio.

Went in yesterday Saturday lunchtime was quite busy lots of Chinese customers. Excellent menu, authentic food, friendly and efficient service and some economical deals.

You don’t get much restaurants like these anymore. Authentic Chinese with fun staff and great food! Came here for a friend’s birthday meal and had a really good time! We ordered a variety of dishes and ate everything. Highly recommended!

Huge selection of food with lots of great dishes to dry. The salt and chili chicken was amazing as well as the dumplings.

We had the Char Sui pork x2, Crispy pork, Fried rice, Char Sui balls x2, Sea bass, pork and prawn balls and drinks for four people. Desert was the mango pudding and steamed cake. The menu was a little confusing just because there was so much to choose from. The whole experience was lovely. Friendly staff and reasonable pricing. Loved the flavours nd the quality was top level! We look forward to booking again as the experience was better than we expected. We recommend exploring the whole menu as the food was so good and the flavours are very memorable.

Surprised they still serve dim sum at dinner time. This place has dim sum which will compare to anything in London, NYC or Toronto. Makes you fell like you are in Hong Kong.

Me and my girlfriend were celebrating and decided to come for some Dim Sum. Wow! Everything we had was amazing! Very authentic and the staff were really nice and helpful. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for authentic Chinese food.

My husband brought my 3.5 year old to have dim sum and they ordered a take away Singapore-style noodles 星洲炒米 for me. My little one definitely enjoyed the dim sum especially the barbecue pork buns, and for me, their Singapore-style noodles was just perfect! Not too oily and have the exact same taste as when I was having in Asia. Another thing I wanted to highlight was how nice and helpful their staff were. My little one lost her favourite bunny in this restaurant and did not recognise until after a few hours when they returned home. I called the restaurant and they were kindly searching the bunny for us. Their staff member actually kept the bunny safe and intact so were so lucky to be able to have it back - really nice atmosphere and helpful staff. Definitely recommend.

Rather inconspicuous from the outside, it turns out to be a beautiful restaurant inside. The food was excellent, the service was quick and the staff was super friendly! Highly recommended!

Great Cantonese restaurant which gives a nice authentic HK feel… dim sum is great and so are the roast dishes. Prices are generally affordable especially during lunch where they have set meals available. Ample seats despite the small frontage which leads in to a big hall typical of Chinese banquet halls.

Really delicious food, huge variety of food (almost too much!) and really authentic but also with some more ‘western’ style dishes if it’s a mixed group. We got a lot of food for a pretty reasonable price. Got a pineapple duck dish that surprised me how delicious it was! Excellent dim sum, especially the siu mai. Definitely going to come back to try more of the menu. Forgot to take pictures because we were too busy eating!

Real, authentic Cantonese food. Excellent service from the staff and it felt like I was back in China as during my trips there. Go there. You won’t be disappointed.

We ordered my usual dim sum go-to when I was back in Singapore (Siew Mai, Chee Cheong Fun, Fried Dumplings, Salted Egg Yolk Bun, Chinese Pan-Fried Carrot Cake, Steamed Cake). The food tasted not bad, but not as good as the ones I had back in Singapore. That being said, my expectations for Asians restaurants in European countries isn’t high. What amazed me in this restaurant was the service. They provided free soup, desserts and fruit platters. The soup (pork soup) and dessert (Cheng Tng) really hits home. Overall, I love this place for the vibes and service. However, if you have very high expectations of Asian food as an Asian tourist, you may not be satisfied. Still 5 stars for me given the context of this country!

Great food , quick service You might have to walk To the back of the restaurant Definitely worth the cost

Visited for a meal before seeing Miles Jupp at Kings Theatre. When you walk in, it was a bit disconcerting as there are tables but no one there, but just walk towards the back. There you will find a large restaurant & the main desk. My husband is not used to proper Cantonese food, so we did ' play safe' - Vietnamese spring rolls, satay chicken & Singapore rice, all to share. The food was excellent and the rice was a huge porion. Everything g was very hot & beautifully served. Staff also were so friendly and helpful, making sure there was cutlery for husband ( who doesn't use chopsticks) , bringing plates for us too share without us having to ask for them & were attentive without being pushy. At the end after receiving our bill, a small plate was brought with sliced melon & oranges - such a lovely gesture. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and if we are ever back in Glasgow in that area, I know we will be revisiting.

Authentic traditional Chinese food

This was our dating lunch / dinner place when we were international students at Glasgow University 38 years ago. We revisited and are delighted it is still around. The Singapore fried vermicelli still as awesome as all those years again. The salt and chilli soft shell crabs was very good. The other dishes were average. Portions are big especially the single portion of rice - easily feed three adults.

Poor quality not value for money. All cold, overcooked rice (we had to bin it) , chewy beef, prawn toar dripping of fat. Very dissapointing, not going back

The prawn dumplings Hai gow and Sui Mai are a bigger than your average restaurant. Cheung fun soft and taste freshly made. Ordered a number of different dim sum to try, liked everything. Just the book tripe needed a bit more flavour. I likes the prawn balls with the cheese sauce filling , it's not found at your normal dim sum restaurant. The website needs to update their prices as they are different. The staff were attentive and friendly. Well worth the drive over. Just difficult to find parking as in the city centre.

As soon as we sat down, we were served two bowls of chicken soup, which was rich and fragrant, like drinking chicken essence. Drink chicken essence, this chicken soup is really amazing. The chicken feet on the second course are standard Hong Kong-style dim sum. The next three dishes were salt and pepper. Only the main character was different. The content of the dishes was exactly the same. The soft shell crab had no taste at all. The salt and pepper tofu had no idea what I was eating? ? Both meals have a common feature, the ones wrapped in thick flour? Have no idea what food I'm eating? And the garlic cake is super oily. Is this garlic cake? Is it pastry? The outer skin of the bean curd roll was also fried, it was really "greasy" and shiny. Master’s frying skills really need to be improved. Then the restaurant also comes with fruits and desserts. The chicken soup is given two stars, and the after-dinner fruits and desserts are given one star. By the way: the dining environment is quite good. Are the "ingredients and sauces" the same? The main dishes are just different, this way? Will Chinese restaurants really become more and more declining? Completely soulless? Is it any wonder there are so few Google reviews? Not a very high score.

I can't recommend this place highly enough.I think the bad reviews are being left by jealous competition around them.I eat dim sum all over the world.This is by far my favorite so far. It was packed with people,mainly Asian folk,WHICH IS ALWAYS A GOOD SIGN. The food was sooo fresh,so perfectly made,and served the authentic way. I had way too much food, but every bit of it was awesome,Soo delicious.Cant wait to go back,but won't eat so much next time🤣 staff also very welcoming,well done guys

Good Cantonese food, which is a Hong Kong style food. Looks small from front but really opens out at the back. Dim sum seems to be served all day and the roast meats are good. I had the pork dumplings which were plump and fresh. Special house noodles and rice in lotus leaf. All really nice. Been here 3 times and it is a small gem hidden behind a small shop front. It is almost Chinese new year but they gave me a very Chinese soup at the start and a sweet bean dessert with some fruit on the side. So much to eat. Ordered mixed meat crispy noodles. Very Hong Kong, offal, tripe and liver. Might put most people off. It was big and delicious. Curry whelks were very good also. With beer and another side all just around £30.

What a surprise. We stumbled upon this place - when we first walked in, we weren't sure about it at all as it looked empty, but we walked around the corner, and we were surprised to see a huge restaurant. Food was so authentic that I had no idea what much of it was, so we played it safe with the business lunch - but next time, I will definitely be more adventurous. Great service - I'll definitely be back and will bring more friends and family

Seven people ordered more than 10 dim sum boxes. The taste was first-class, full of Hong Kong style, the environment was clean, and the service was very good!

The best Chinese duck I've had in Scotland. Able to ride the line between traditional and British very well. Near perfect service. I did hear some screaming in the back and my chair had a whole in the bottom but other than that a perfect experience.

25 of us in total, had an amazing night in the karaoke room down stairs, loads of food which was very tasty, staff are always helpful and attentive. Always have a great time here when we have our annual get together

Normally,the 3 roast is nice. Today,it was awful. Bland,tasteless and terrible cuts of meat. We could have done better at home. To add insult to injury,the idiot waiter was clueless and made us wait for almost 20mins not realising our order was ready and sitting in a bag,despite chasing up repeatedly. Standards have dropped. Won't be back. Same-Same is far superior,unfortunately they don't open until after 4pm.

So after a truely appalling experience here last night I would like to share with the OWNER!! your very rude and arrogant member of staff ADAMS Behaviour! So if he telling me the truth the owner is mr sang ! Well mr sang this guy is beyond rude! I ordered chow mein and the waiter brings me out vermicelli I look round to tell someone it’s wrong all the staff are sitting at a round table around 10pm eating no One cares to ask how my food is or check in on me! I start eating the meal thinking it’s late and I’m hungry knowing the restaurant maybe closing soon! After eating half the meal I finally usher ADAM over he asks me if everything is ok I tell him the mix up of order and that I wasn’t to pleased no one came to ask how my food was! His attitude begggers belief ! I should of said when the food came it’s to late to give my side of the story and he not interested in what I have to say! My opinion doesn’t matter and if I tell my side on here the next day he doesn’t care as it’s not his restaurant! And if I don’t like it don’t come back so to speak! I asked maybe u could reduce a small bit of the bill by way of gratitude for my custom! No chances there ! Well the food is vastly over priced the service is diabolical and hopefully this review is met by the kind of people like myself who will think twice about eating at your restaurant !!!

Went to Loon Fung for the first time a few days with a couple of friends, not quite sure what to expect based on reviews, but it ended up being one of the best meals I've ever had in Glasgow! We ordered a selection of Dim Sum including: satay beef dumplings, vietnamese springs rolls, friend turnip mousse and durian fruit cake, and every dish was well-cooked and delicious. We orderd five dishes between the three of us for a light meal, and it was very affordable - coming in at about £32. The staff were also friendly and efficient, and didn't rush us to order when we were waiting for our third friend. Highly reccommend, we'll definitely be back!

Been here previously and it had been great. This time around it was poor. Main course was the worst I've had ever. Fried rice appeared/tasted like stained boiled rise. Orange chicken was fruit free slimey chicken wafer thin and mostly batter....ideal for vegans I suppose. No taste. After they removed the stuff they brought orange pieces....guess that was to get rid of taste of food....Best bit of meal....tasted of orange....perhaps would have been better in the meal. Serving wasn't the best. Managed approx 30% of it....no one questioned this ...just interested in cash I suppose. Staff were okay but less than welcoming. Won't be back. Avoid

Absolutely love this restaurant. I think it's fair to say that it's as good as the Loon Fung before the fire at Steak and Cherry upstairs closed them down

You just know the food will be great when a Chinese restaurant has many tables with Chinese eating. Really.nkce food and good service. Worth trying as if it is Chinese food they will serve it here.

Really good, authentic dim sum and lovely service. Of particular note - well, everything! V nice fried morning glory, every dumpling delicious, excellent noodles, just what our family group wanted.

Ordered through deliveroo. Food was exceptionally bland and produce didn't feel fresh. Crispy chicken slivers were so thin in their thick starch shell that they were barely detectable. We had a few different things, none of it enjoyable, but all very overpriced for what you get. Hugely disappointing. Also everything packed in single use plastic, come on it's 2023 there's other options and with what you're charging you should be able to afford it.

Tried Loon Fung through Hungry Panda for a noon pickup of buns and salt and chilli chicken. When I got the notification that our food was ready the person on duty didn't know about the order and clearly threw some scraps of chicken from the day before into a takeaway tub then tossed it in a microwave. Hardly any of it plus old and hard besides. If you aren't ready for customers at opening, change your hours of collection.
