Very good food, excellent value, nice wee place

The food never arrived as the courier actually just gone to a different address then wanted me to walk there for my food or I need to pay more if she bring it to the correct address. Honestly I got shock, it's totally unacceptable. It would be better if the company work with couriers who actually can read english or use their GPS device correctly. It's also not a disadvantage if the courier is not lazy to gets out of the car to reach the destination. Probably an educational course would be good as well where she should be enlightened that not every location in the town is accessible by car.

We went here for something to eat. To start with the positives, the food was lovely and the prices were all right. The lady serving us made some recommendations as well, which we appreciated. I took one star off because the music was extremely repetitive. It sounded like the CD player was broken, and I'm surprised none of the staff noticed or tried to change it. 25 minutes with the same 30 seconds of music, on repeat. Not very nice! Another star comes off because it was cash only. A sign in the window would have been helpful, instead I had to walk 5 mins down the road to find a working ATM at Tesco (the one across the road at Sainsbury's was broken). All in all, good food and nice service, but the music needs to be fixed and a "cash only" sign put up.

A bit tricky location but the food is really tasty! They also have karaoke, quite noisy tho. But we went there nearly a year ago.

I love the décor; it provided a fun atmosphere!! Also, the lady who served me was very polite, and she got my order correct, so the service was a strong 10/10!! I got the beef udon and some banana fritters for dessert, both of which were incredibly delicious and extremely filling!! Two things to note for anyone who tries this restaurant for the first time: the restaurant only takes cash payments, so don't go in if you're cash poor, and the food is SUPER DUPER filling- even just one serving of udon noodles feels like two or three meals worth of food, so bring your appetite or order light!! Overall, I would highly recommend this delightful gem to anyone who enjoys the delicious things in life!!

Dishonest. I accidentally overpaid £20 in cash but they just kept it quietly. I asked them on the spot after checking the remaining amount with my family, and apparently they didn’t admit it. This was really disappointing.

Hands down one of the best meals I’ve had in Glasgow. Came as a party of 3 so we had a chance to try a lot of things. Grilled sea bass in hot and spicy sauce was superb, double cooked pork belly amazing, the star of the show was yuhong aubergine for the 3 of us along with the balajan squid! Thank you to the lady who served us who was very sweet and nice. Second time we have eaten here and we shall be back!

Hair in food, chips not fresh, very dry and hard. Very small portions and prices high. Avoid this place!

Paid £12 for a tiny undercooked seafood dish that was 90% vegetables. The dish consisted mainly of mainly whole broccolis & baby corn, most of which was out of date. There were about 5 prawns and one raw oyster at the bottom. Atmosphere also felt horrible and the cashier stared us down with a glare until we placed our order.

Love the food from here, although have only tried the sweet and sour. Have eaten in and sometimes get a delivery. It is always fresh, light and tasty.

Got delivery to hotel in Glasgow. Waited outside hotel and didn't see any delivery driver. Bout half hour later we rang them to be told the delivery person had issues with hotel and were sent away. Funny because we were waiting outside and saw no one. Had to pay 3 pound 50 for them to return. Food okay. Rice and chips tied together in bags and had mixed. Portions good. Would not bother again due to hassle of getting food.

Had sit-in lunch, small premises, not a place to stay long, quick lunch. A bargain lunch menu £10.50 each, starter and main course. Starter was okay, chilli chicken a bit overcooked.. However, main courses were very tasty, large portion for lunchtime. We had chicken satay on skewers and breast of chicken curry with fried rice. Fried rice was light and fluffy, curry and satay dishes were nice.

We ordered Ma Po Tofu which was too salty and tofu was not fresh because it tasted sour. We also decided to try some BBQ skewers which was alright except the lamb meat was under cooked and pink on the inside and I didn’t want to get food poisoned so didn’t finish it. I would not recommend visiting this place until they are able to improve the quality of the food.

Hi just to let you know that the food was terrible! It’s not the cleanest shop . Overall it’s a big Fat NO from me .

Worst Chinese I’ve ever had. Food was greasy and tasted awful. Really horrible food, very disappointing.

Order a delivery as I was feeling unwell and my daughter had just came home from a hard day at work and tired, food arrived and it was honestly the most bland Chinese ever! I had special fried rice which had no taste whatsoever, salt and chilli chips for my daughter which were not very tasty and very soggy! I had to stand and make my own curry sauce for the dry tasteless rice dish even though I paid just over £22 for the food and was feeling unwell. Please guys avoid wasting your hard earned cash in this place. I will never order from here again!

Excellent food, excellent priced

Ordered home delivery on Tues 11th April, after 3 phone calls food finally arrived 1 hour 20 mins after ordering. Delivery was stated as 20 mins. I am only a ten minute walk from premises. Food quality was poor with chips and spring rolls particularly bad and all food was lukewarm at best.. very poor and wouldn't recommend

Just got a chicken breast curry and fried rice must have been the best chicken curry had in years 😋

Found Little Canteen just around the corner from my hotel when looking for a nice dinner spot. Friendly staff, quick service and amazing food. Also a lovely atmosphere. Will def come here again.

Leaving my review because there are quite a few negative ones and that hasn’t been my experience at all. We sit in quite regularly and food has always been top notch and come out quickly which is nice. Varied menu with more than just your usual salt and chilli and curry sauce. I recommend the mao style braised pork belly and the yuhong aubergine.

Curry sauce was bland watery .rice was hard and they even forgot my chips won't be back such a simple dish can't even make it right won't be back

I think it's better than the average level of Chinese restaurant I have tried in Glasgow before. The grilled scallop is my favorite cuisine here, and for main dishes, I think Kung Pao Chicken is worth to be recommended.

This is a tiny restaurant that is as chinese as it gets. Delicious dishes for chinese tastes. There are also slightly westernised tasty dishes. A hidden secret for insider.

Extremely not recommended. Bland taste, not worth the price, horrible service. There are many good Chinese restaurants in Glasgow, I can even say that I have not seen any worse than this one. 我从不在公众场合骂人，但是这店家着实煞笔…你要是不想来堂食就说只做外卖也行。只收现金就不多说了，毕竟缺德也不是你一家。但是堂食不提供水？你开个餐厅干嘛的？想喝只能买瓶装水只能微信下单，然后微信低于10磅不能下单:)玩呢？点了个烤鱼，菜做的也就那么回事吧，不难吃，但也绝对就是个家常菜水平，和大厨完全不沾边。我也不知道说特别好吃的是没吃过饭还是我去的那天厨子喝多了？至于服务嘛…不是好不好的区别，是根本没有！！！！ 不想开店就赶紧关了拉到，别特么给中国人丢脸…

Little Chinese restaurant, slightly crowded during peak time…the food is acceptable but not so tasty….like 99p frozen pizza from shops…maybe better…

Popped in on the off chance. The place is small and rustic but serves great food at a reasonable price. I had the spring rolls which came with sweet chilli sauce and were crispy and delicious. The chicken Szechuan was great - a bit of spice to it but not overpowering. Plenty of sauce to go with the steamed rice and it was hot and tasty. Nothing else needed. There is no license but soft drinks are available.

Possibly the most tasteless and expensive Chinese takeaway I’ve had in Glasgow £13.70 for a chicken &noodle soup(which was ok suppose) but Kung Po chicken and fried rice was disgusting. I ordered in store so can’t even blame it on delivery. The prices on menu are different from what is charged which was annoying but I put it down to covid etc for increase. The rice was in one solid mass almost as though it had been sitting for ages and the main course was vile. Stringy chicken(which seemed as though from poor cut) in a brown coating with an unbelievable amount of peanuts. No sauce to speak of and absolutely no flavour, I saw one chilli and that was it. I can’t understand why they have rave reviews as it was straight in the bin and hopefully I’m ok in morning as not a great culinary experience.I waited 20 mins for it and weren’t particularly busy so again no excuse for the quality of the food they put out. Spend your money elsewhere .

Fantastic, best chicken fried rice I’ve had

We were looking for a local Chinese restaurant and the one we had chosen was closed nearby we saw the" little canteen" and decided to give it a try - nothing ventured nothing gained it's not a lot to look at ....it's amazingly small ... there was about 10 seats in the place several of them were already taken but as we walked in a man eating by himself left leaving us to a table of our own it seems to be run by two people one cooking one serving the menu was quite varied and it seemed to cater for Chinese people as it had half the menu written in Chinese and it had the sort of dishes European people don't usually ask for Tripe chickens feet and pigs feet I always think that's a good sign ..because if Chinese people eat there it must be half decent I chose King prawn fried noodles and the wife had char Sui noodles we also ordered a quarter duck and pancakes food came quickly and was lovely I'd definitely go back and cap it al it wasn't at all expensive

Worst Chinese ever rice was hard and cold chips were hard and cold and asked for onions rings to be crispy and they were soaky. I would say defo not to use this Chinese it was not nice at all

Shocking, spent just over £20 and the food didn't even arrive. I tried calling the place to get a refund but no answer, it's been a week and I still can't get though to them to get my refund.

I've been here a couple of times pre covid and every so often id found a couple of gems. Went back yesterday and what I got was not only revolting but clearly made without any care of what it was meant to resemble or taste like. The chicken in batter was just small sad bits of white meat without any crispy batter in a weird sweet and overly peppered sauce and the beef flank was so dry and thin you would have thought that a stringy mop head would taste better. Also they only take cash so be sure to pop out and take some cash out to inconvenience yourself with the most disgusting and lackluster attempts Ive seen at cooking since our disgruntled overly hairy KP's effots at rumbling up food for a precious westend couple's 'veggie' pet. I'm not even being harsh, im just frustrated at the complete lack of disregard for what people would expect with the obvious fact that they dont care, they just want your money and in doing so will churn out the cheapest, greyest bits of food and expect to get away with it. Save your money, jump into Sainsburys across the road and get one of those delicous cheesy pretzel baked things, or several - your stomach will be happy and you can spend that £20 on buying that colourful dog toy your wee pupper keeps accidentally chasing in the park

Just received my delivery... beef curry watery. Tub of gravy tastes like gravy out a jar not nice at all. Noodles not nice either. Definitely womt order here again.

I don't like leaving negative reviews but this one has really taken the cake. This place is an absolute joke. My order took over an hour to arrive at my door. The chicken in batter just disappeared?! The braised flank of tasteless. The noodles were mushy. The sauce containers were all spilled and covered the inside of the bags. To top it off it costed £2 for ONE lamb Skewer, ONE! Which came back cold! I have been trying to call the restaurant for a formal complaint but the phone keeps ringing and they havent picked up in the last 40 minutes. I am so disappointed. The complete lack of care and respect for their food and customer.

Instant favourite Chinese in Glasgow... 2nd visit in a week... stumbled here by chance on way to DJ Shadow gig last week... came back tonight for birthday en famille... delicious food... very reasonably priced... very generous portions... this will become a regular for me, family & friends... can NOT recommend this wee gem in Finnieston highly enough...

Very poor service and extremly over priced for that quality and portion size! Also, they offer a menu for tea based drinks which has to be bought from the restaurant next door! They don't offer tap water.

Stopping overnight in Glasgow and looking for a place nearby for something to eat, we stumbled upon the Little Canteen. Circled by restaurants, this eatery has a small shop front but big heart. Just a few simple tables inside, we sat down and were immediately looked after. A simple menu to follow with a wide range of dishes at budget prices, he ordered a chicken satay with chips, chicken chow mein and salt and chilli chips for me, washed down with green tea and herbal tea respectively. Everything on our plates was delicious, we were gutted that there was so much on them that we couldn't finish. Just under £25 for the two of us. Perfect, relaxed, great food and service, totally recommend.

The curry sauce tastes like beef stock. Terrible. Their salt & chilli tofu is squidgy, almost gooey and just very lazily cooked with no flavour and an awful texture. I'm surprised it gets any repeat business as the order is just thrown together with a terrible standard of food.

Unpredictable. Its local so had it a few times. Sometimes good, sometimes v poor even with the same dish. The last time was inedible.

This place is a complete fraud... The vegetable "Thai Sweet Chili" was just really bad veggies that literally came with the same pre made sweet chili sauce the spring rolls came with as a dip?!

Best Chinese hotpot and Korean BBQ I've ever been to in the UK. All you can eat buffet in Sichuan style hotpot (火锅). Everything written in English and Chinese - staff extremely helpful. Right door for for hotpot/BBQ and left door for traditional Chinese restaurant.

Really nice food and service! You can have hotpot and BBQ at the time! with anything you want, and different sauces you prefer. You need to heat up your own food and that's quite fun to do. Staff happy to help as well. Super friendly. Every time I get a food baby as it is all you can eat...

Great place to get some Chinese food. Prices are slightly higher for a few items otherwise it’s pretty reasonable. Taste is the most important thing and to me it’s authentic: people won’t be disappointed with the flavor. Portions are huge also.

Very sadly, unless you're a local student from China or Japan, you wont be welcome. . Its not child friendly, there is no toilet and it's cash only.

FOOD POISONING! after waiting ages for my food and having separate menus in the window and on the counter (the one in the window is no longer valid and is cheaper) got home ate the bland food with 3 prawns in it (for £7!) then abou 2h after eating it started to feel ill, currently holding my head over the toilet. AVOID

Got the beef noodle soup and it wasn't bad. Super filling (couldn't finish) with lots of beef and noodles. Staff isn't super friendly and cash only is a pain. Not nearly as bad as some reviewers are saying but it's not my favorite Chinese joint either.

Food is tasty and portion sizes are good. You can however get the same or similar dishes for £1-2 cheaper in many places.

Been here several times , food is pretty average , better off cooking my own food.

Ordered a takeaway at about 6.30pm. 8.00pm and still no sign of it, after calling little canteen several times we finally got our food at about 8.50pm. The driver who delivered it was extremely rude. The food was cold, my boyfriend got the wrong thing - it honestly looked disgusting.. he couldn't even eat it. My ginger and spring onion chicken was pretty tasteless. I'm not really one to complain but honestly this place sucks and I do not recommend ordering from here.

The food tasted pretty decent but after only my second time going here, I found a bug in my soup. Quite a shame.

PERMANENT BOYCOTT - AND TO THE CHEFS AND WOMEN WORKING THERE - LEAVE BEFORE YOU LOSE EVERYTHING. Accused of shortchanging a guy for £15 order when he gave me 5 one pound coins back - not only that there was no mistake i EXCLUSIVELY had £20 notes withdrawn from the cash machine. He was utterly shifty just before this coming down the stairs - the worst part? the food was good - this guy has no business sense and furthermore directly called me a liar (this is 20 minutes after delivering my food and THEN deciding that instead of being a long term customer with no prior issues that I was a liar) I literally cannot believe it. I've ordered HUNDREDS of meals in restaurants and NEVER been called a thief before. Hang your head in shame.
