Lookout Cafe in Weymouth and Portland

Lovely place to eat. Friendly staff and very efficient. Food excellent and best flat white I have ever had. Very busy when we went but tables were clear and place very clean. There is also a toilet which is great for families.

This is a small cafe located at the top of what I call bowleaze coveway. It has an indoor cafe area and a large number of tables outside. From the outside tables, you have a view of Weymouth Bay to the right and Bowleaze to the left. Sat outside as it was at least a little bit sunny. It's a great spot just to chill and enjoy a light lunch or cuppa. Food has never been anything but excellent. Staff were friendly as well. I go here quite a lot, and out of season on a warm sunny day it's very peaceful. Atmosphere only 4 as I was sat outside.

Absolutly love this place, all the staff are friendly and the food is great. The cafe is in a good location and the views are excellent.

The views are simply breathtakingly spectacular!! As ypu sit and enjoy a bacon buttie you can watch the watercraft in the bay which stretches out in front of your view from this stunning clifftop location high above the scenic coastal town of Weymouth. The staff are all extremely friendly and polite, with a sumptuous menu offering handmade delights that are sure to please every palette. I would recommend the Lookout Cafe highly as a place to add to your sightseeing list on the South Coast..

Not a great selection of food after 12.00 (breakfast)

Decent food at ok just prices. No real view anymore due to extension. Gets busy in season.

We pop in to the look out for lunch to day haven’t been for a while We ordered a gourmet burger each Well it was one of the worst burger I’ve had it was tasteless and like rubber No salad or coleslaw to lighten up very greasy I think the place seems to have gone down hill or they are buying poor quality food to make more profit

Arrived at 11:50am waited patiently to be served, only to be rudely told that the breakfast menu had finished at 12:00, even though we got there with plenty of time and waited in the queue for 10+ minutes. No apology, when I challenged this, I was told there was lots of other places to go. Would NOT recommend getting your food from these poor customer service employees. This cafe is under staffed and I can see why.

A nice café located on a hill with an amazing view of the bay and Portland Island. Delicious food and helpful staff. You can enjoy coffee and a meal inside the café, in the wind-sheltered garden, or outside. Highly recommended.

We went for lunch, 3 of us had pickle and cheese sandwiches with a small salad garnish. The bread was stale and cheese plastic. Not a good lunch for £7. My son had sausage and bacon sandwich, again stale bread, tasteless sausages and one small slice of bacon between the 2 sandwiches, the gulls enjoyed it! We paid £5 for tea for 2 and not enough for 2 tiny cups each. We were all so disappointed having read the reviews. The staff were really nice though, Valerie

The food was very basic. Quantity, not quality. I just paid £10.95 for "twisted fries (vegan): spiced fries topped with homemade twisted beans ragu, melted vegan cheese & chives." What I got was oven chips covered in tinned tomatoes cooked with some chickpeas & butter beans & a minimal seasoning, & no chives in sight. This is not ragu. For some reason it's on a chopping board. After walking half an hour & with no other options nearby I've eaten a third of it & headed off. Nice view over the bay though. Unless you like a greasy spoon I'd avoid.

What a beautiful place to go and have a coffee and some breakfast, but sadly disappointed bacon was burnt looked like had half the grill stuck to it, sausage overdone, but a nice coffee smoothies are pretty good too. The view if you sit outside is amazing I would definitely go back for just for a drink though no food staff are very helpful and polite and the atmosphere is busy

Great cakes, coffee and tea (we stopped both ways walking from Osmington Mills to Weymouth). Views are spectacular to!

Fabulous strawberry milkshakes!!!

Popped in for a quick bite to eat after visiting the Roman temple ruins. The cafe has the perfect location looking out over the bay, and has seating both inside and out. Staff were super friendly and even though it was fairly close to closing time they were incredibly accommodating. We had the seafood platter, and even though they did not have a lot of crab meat, they offered to make it up with another part of the platter instead. That being said, the platter had a great portion of each of the seafoods, and the salad was very good too. Personally I really enjoy radish in salads so glad to see it here. We also got a milkshake and a smoothie, the milkshake was a great refresher and my partner said she loved the smoothie. Finally we also had a couple of cakes to finish our lunch, I had a rocky road which was superb, and my partner had the largest slice of coffee and walnut cake, which of course I helped finish off. Definitely worth going for a nice meal with a view!

First time visitor. I was hoping for some fish and chips , but they don't cater for this. I had a bowl of chilli , which I thought quite expensive at £11 .The food was not that warmed up or spicy , a bit insipid. The location is great , atop the hill overlooking the cove and Weymouth Bay . Much nicer than the Blackpool like development down the hill.

Amazing views, that must be what you pay for as the food was overpriced, the cakes on offer ,good choice, but average quality. Victoria sponge very dry. Wanted a cream tea but only had butter, shame. Milkshakes were nice though, freshly made with strawberries

If you have butter on your bacon sandwiches, you're in luck if, like me, you don't have butter. Remember to tell them, otherwise everything was good

Hello, I have known and loved the LookOut Cafe for it's views for decades. So popped up for a quick coffee today. Could not have been more disappointed 😞 I ordered an Espresso, single shot apparently. Knew it would be strong so asked for a little hot water, happily served. But £2.40 for not even a soup spoon full of coffee ! I'm confused 😕 ? Would two shots/soup spoons have been £4.80 ☹️ Sadly after so many happy memories 🌞 Thermos cup and a bench for me from now on. I despair of finding an affordable, tasty coffee in Dorset 🥲

Excellent venue. Fantastic views. Super dog friendly. Outdoor/awning/inside space so lots of options. Free parking on the road.

Treat day ..and was not disappointed.

A little last-minute lunchtime soirée with my good lady. Quite an impressive selection on the menu and the portions were ample. Café style service but staff were lovely. Pirched on the top of the hill at Bowleze Cove, with some great views of Weymouth Bay and Portland harbour in the distance. On street parking is the only option but this will be busy during the summer months.

Went today for first time. Had a lovely prawn cocktail sandwich and a texan ciabalta roll which was well priced for the amount we got and beautiful views as well

Fantastic views, plenty of places to sit for lunch. Great food, very little waiting time. Very nice friendly service, coffee and tea were just spot on after our long walk. Again cake.....lots to choose from...and we just had to top ourselves up for the walk into town. Worth a visit.

After 10 years of visiting & always messaging before to check still doing pancakes & hours of serving them made the trip today to be told ran out! Wouldn’t recommend anymore! Guessing they have changed hands. Had to get £50 refunded and go elsewhere! Would not recommend. Was always our favourite place!

An absolute gem of a place . Whilst on a few days break we used this place 3 times . Meals were fantastic . Cake good . Coffee good . We have always loved Weymouth and Bowleaze Cove . This cafe is well recommended

Came on a Saturday morning and it was very busy. Easily a 15-min queue at least which just shows how good it is. Food was tasty and sitting outside was lovely. The daytime menu also looked amazing

Amazing time....maybe its was the view or finishing a night shift....but yeah the atmosphere was awesome, until it got busy...then noisy....I guess when it gets warmer it would be gorgeous sitting outside in the sun 🌞 ... Hot chocolate very yummy had too much froth and less fluid was given a replacement, - so great customer service, full breakfast delicious, scrambled egg okay but a bit too dry for my personal preference, also had smashed avocado with poached eggs and added smoked salmon...my fault should have delayed the delivery has by time I got around to eating it was cold... possible change to black pepper to give a bit more bite and taste.... overall a nice experience.

Great location overlooking Weymouth Bay.We regularly walk along the coast from Weymouth to the Lookout cafe(about 2.9 miles) and look forward to a nice cup of coffee & slice of cake.Very good range of hot or cold food available and plenty of seating both inside or out.The staff are very friendly and polite.Definitely worth the visit.

Lunch on a sunny day, with family. The loaded chips were lovely and plenty of them. The gourmet burger was delicious and the teas and the fruit smoothies went down very well. An ideal place to eat and relax in an informal setting....with great views over the bay!

When I lived in Weymouth, we came here at least once a week. Now we've moved away, we visit when we can. Food has always been good but the only problem we have is that my wife cannot eat baked beans and as all breakfasts are set, they will not change items. We therefore go elsewhere for breakfast. Things used to be about the customer!

Cute cafe on the cliff top, very popular and friendly. Lots of outdoor table and benches. Had a coffee which was super hot and fruit scone. All nice.

First time visiting today and I can reassure you it won’t be the last! The food was divine; I had the mac and cheese loaded fries and they were delicious and well priced. I had a caramel latte too, it was also well priced and genuinely one of the best lattes I’ve ever had. Even had to get one to take away! The atmosphere was lovely and the service was perfect. The staff are so polite and welcoming. Five stars all around!

Something fishy. One of our group had to send her breakfast order of eggs royale back as the eggs and muffin were stone cold and the salmon smelled and tasted rather sour. Staff offered a full refund but she paid for her replacement of toast and jam. The two full English breakfast orders were fine but nothing special.

The atmosphere is the best part about the place, the food isn't always fresh and the tables are barely wiped down in contrast you don't have many options in Weymouth.

I love this place. We come here all the time and they never disappoint. I was worried when they said there was a change of ownership but it’s still the same great staff, great food and great service. We got there at 9.30 and I thought they were closed but a lovely lady came out and told us to come in. Our food was served really quickly and was lovely and fresh. Coffee is really good. The service was warm and friendly. Even had a giggle with the lady who served us about not eating our tomatoes (you had to be there). We finished with a beautiful walk over the top of bowleaze cove. It’s one of the best views in Dorset as far as I’m concerned. Well worth a visit and great if you have dogs xx

In the midst of a stormy weekend A lovely place to dry out, food was excellent, hot coffee and service quick and friendly.

Wonderful breakfast and cafe is clean and fresh and looks brilliant. The staff are happy and helpful and the menu is very tasty. The one thing which has remained the same is the view and that's no bad thing as it's beautiful. Great place for children and dogs, especially when the sun's out.

Lots to like here not least the location and stunning views. It has a laid back vibe despite being busy and impressively that was on a drab monday morning. What this place must be like on a summer weekend is a tad scary. Still good service, ticket time reasonable, just wish there were more vegan options (at breakfast there is pancakes or beans on toast). We had one of those each, and were fine. Will return, just time it right and if you are not vgn enjoy

Food and service a bit meh, but you are coming here for the location anyways, and what a location that is. Finish your breakfast/ lunch and take a stroll around the edges because the view is something else! (Parking could be a problem if you show up late....)

Ordered slices of cake from a glass display cabinet. Cake was handed to me in take away cartons and when I got home it was not the same cake I had chosen but a very poor lookalike.

Always coming back, glad it's not my local or I would be 30 stone.
