Food is always amazing, a small intimate restaurant with the best variety in town. Whether you're looking for noodles or rice, seafood meat or vegetarian, they've got it all at a high standard too. Would recommend but keep in mind it's CASH ONLY

BBQ pork(叉燒/Chai Siu)is excellent... "Fat Ends in Black Bean Sauce with Rice"is very yummy.. The service is sincere, and friendly, toilet is clean also.

We usually go on a Monday and order 2 portions of 3 roasts with rice. The meat is usually quite a nice amount and the rice needs to be slightly more. Today on a Thursday, we went in and ordered the same 2 portions of 3 roast and rice. Was quite disappointed as the meat was not the same amount as on Monday. The duck was all bones. I know they use the whole of the duck but giving the back of the duck which basically all bones, shouldn’t they give you an extra couple pieces of breast or even leg meat to make up for all the bones?! All in all just not happy as the dish was not cheap at £12.50 each. The food is nice just the quantity is not good enough especially getting mostly bones on the duck. I don’t think it was worth the money as all meat was reduced compared to having it on Mondays! Did not feel satisfied on this occasion.

Their 3 roasts with rice is very good and yummy. The only issue I have is the rice was not enough. One more scoop of rice would have been perfect.

This is one of the reasons I visit B'ham. The duck wings and roast duck are my favorite!

I got the three seafood with satay sauce and Wu don it was the best thing I ever had definitely recommend it

You will find the typical HK restaurant working style here, so you might have a feeling of a familiar atmosphere like in HK. Food is at its fair price, but an extra 50p for a ginger and spring onion dip would make you have a second thought to ask for it.

Very good food. Friendly staff. This is our go to chinese restaurant in Birmingham. excellent food very tasty. Mixed meat with noodles is fantastic.

If you want a plate full of your favourite Chinese food at a very reasonable price and you have CASH, you cannot beat this establishment. Try their 3 Roast Meat with Rice or the Singapore Noodles. The staff have limited English but the menus are fine, I'm sure you will find what you want and pointing helps lol. You cannot go wrong.

Every time I come to Birmingham, I will take out roast duck rice. Our family likes Happy Restaurant very much. Their service, food and hygiene are all great! But it sells out quickly so be sure to book! I saw a barbecue chef smoking during his break before and when a customer ordered food, he immediately washed his hands when he returned. This is a plus! ! Witness the hygiene and safety😄 There are so many wonton noodle soup sides, and the taste is numb.

Always plenty of Chinese people here, almost nobody speaks English, which is what you want from such a place. Huge portion of tasty crispy noodles with duck (lots of fatty skin, never seen so much skin on a piece of duck). Free Chinese tea, too

Really good Chinese restaurant. Best one I’ve been to in the UK. Quick attentive service, good pricing and food was just incredible. Lots of options too.

Quick and cheerful meal. Soy chicken and duck were delicious but I do wish the chicken was hot and not cold. Make sure to bring cash.

There’s nothing like going to a place, ordering by pointing at what another is eating, (that looks nice, I’ll have that) and be presented with a sub-par version of what they think you want. Not wanting to let it go to waste I ate it, paid and left. This is the second time I feel screwed over by this place and, as is current in America, ‘three strikes and you’re out’. There won’t be a long third review, just a statement to say, ‘my money is just as valid elsewhere’. I am only one customer but I don’t want you to go down the same route. You may love the place but don’t be complacent.

I am extremely disappointed to discover that this Chinese restaurant employs extremely dishonest and illegal billing practices. Not only do they violate UK consumer rights laws, but their attitude is abysmal, showing complete disregard for the customer. During my dining experience here, I encountered unjustified charges added to the bill for items not clearly indicated on the menu. Such behavior demonstrates a serious neglect of customer rights, and I strongly advise other patrons to be wary of this restaurant's lack of integrity. I hope relevant authorities investigate to ensure other customers are not similarly taken advantage of.

Nice place for a quick Chinese food taste.slightly crowded and has less eating spaces

Friendly casual eatery in the heart of Chinatown. Pleasant service and bustling atmosphere. The menu is all great but I particularly recommend the roast meats and rice, which the place is well known for. Don’t expect anything fancy but for a quick lunch and dinner, the place is great.

2024.03: My husband said the fried rice was delicious, but I thought it was average. And the service attitude makes diners feel bad. 4 people ordered 3 meals, and they heard the waiter talking and asked for 4 glasses of water. The 4th person had to pay 50p for tea.

Stopped by Birmingham and found this gem! It’s a shame the duck was already sold out, but we were impressed with the char siu and soya chicken with rice + won ton noodle soup. The hot milk tea also tasted authentic. We will be back again!

Used to be my favourite Chinese restaurant when I go to Birmingham for conference,when I visited yesterday and ordered roast pork with vegetables, it such a disappointment the pork was old and the rice had gone off when I reached London the container has been drenched because they just put all the chili sauce in like it's food for a pig. Today I ordered my use to be favourite beef noodles soup however they forgot to give me the clear soup broth and I specifically said I no longer wanted the charsui pork bec of yesterday it didn't taste nice and yet today when I ordered the 4 roast meat I only got the three variety and was charged for four altogether I was charged £28.50. I have taken my friends there once because I kept on telling them how good and authentic the food was and how it reminded me of my dad when he use to take me to the Chinese restaurant back home, however after today I am never coming back.it no longer is as nice as it used to be but rather a disappointment.😞also the lady that served me today was very grumpy and unapproachable, I may not speak Chinese fluently anymore having lived in the UK for so long but that doesn't mean that you won't offer a good service just because of that grounds. I won't recommend this place to anyone anymore! Awful

Very rude staff , they asked us to pay first, we saw other customers paying after their meal, we asked for chinese tea after our meal , they said we dont provide chinese tea, we saw other customers getting chinese tea . Food was below average , IF YOU ARE AN INDIAN PLEASE DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE , THEY DO NOT RESPECT INDIANS AT ALL.

There is this small authentic shop in the middle of Chinatown. The Peking ducks hang in the display case. Had lunch there and the food was nice and the employees extremely friendly.

You had the best Chinese roast in the UK here at a fraction of the expectation elsewhere. The staff and proprietor are very friendly and attentive.

Needed a hit of Cantonese comfort food, Look In didn't disappoint: had a hearty bowl of wonton noodles in soup, menu item 138. The dish was delicious, the wontons were large and plentiful, the soup well-balanced, flavourful without being salty. The complimentary cup of hot tea was nice. Note that this place only accepts cash for payment.

Love this place, they take such good care of us. The Chinese soup is amazing, but the roasts are truly brilliant. Its usually busy, and there is a reason its that good. One of the most authentic places we have found in the UK. Decent prices, big portions.

We came here after a Pantomime at The Hippodrome. More of a cafe than a restaurant but the food was so good. The staff were very friendly aswell. Would recommend

It is located inside China Town of Birmingham City. It takes 5 minutes to walk from Birmingham New Street Railway Station to this restaurant. The location is very convenient and easy to find. It is a small shop with only a few tables, so there are always lots of people waiting inside or outside the restaurant. Food quality is good at a reasonable price. The staff are also nice and helpful. Highly recommend taking a fast lunch and trying authentic Chinese roasted food

Quick and very tasty lunch. We had the duck and rice. Good portion sizes and was really nice. The warm soy milk was also very nice.

The best beef brisket ho fun noodle soup in birmingham. My recommendations? Crispy pork belly over rice, wonton soup, beef brisket noodle soup and to wash it down with hot soy milk or iced lemon tea. Cash only, there’s an ATM opposite on the side of Uncle Cakes. Not to be missed - a gem within the Chinese Quarter

Was easy to get a seat, and the service was friendly and helpful. The highlight of the visit was the braised beef soup with noodles. The broth had a great depth of flavour, and you could taste a range of flavours infused in the generous chunks of beef. It's the best soup I've tasted from a Chinese restaurant and will definitely be visiting again.

So look In is more of a traditional Hong Kong style fast food with chopped meats and fast food. The take on this food is different to the western pallette as the meats themselves such as duck and chicken come with bones on. The wait on food is about 5 mins from ordering to take and you will find people eat and go quickly. Very busy and not too expensive for a lunch/dinner meal

Recommended by a trendy food critic for superb authentic Chinese/Cantonese food. A small cafe type atmosphere which was packed with local Chinese people, never a bad sign in my opinion. The food (chicken & green peppers in a black bean sauce with fried rice) was excellent and reasonably priced. I would definitely go again when next in the area.

Look In a a real pack 'em deep, sell it cheap place but it has swiftly become our favourite lunch or early evening pre-show eating place in the city centre. Our meals were just around the tenner each and the portion size was great. Be warned that it is cash only and they really do squeeze in lots of people in a small space - I counted 30 chairs. Lovely though and well worth it.

Best authentic hong kong food in birmingham (i am a hong kong person), really great char siu and sweet sour pork. only 1 flaw is cash only but everything else is perfect :)

Dry Fried beef ho fun does not have enough flavor and very oily, ho fun is not fresh. Pickled vegetables and shredded duck with noodles is very very salty. Wan ton is not tender enough. Poor service, they are only nice to westerners, they didn’t provide the spicy oil even I have asked three times.

Portion is huge. Staff are friendly and tastes good.

Our favourite place to get Chinese style roast meats in Birmingham! Great flavour and not too expensive. Can get busy, but we usually did takeaway so never had to wait too long. It's worth the wait anyway! Sad it was closed for part of the summer break before we left, don't miss out!

Do not expect to be treated like an auntie if you don’t look like one. Tonight I asked for an item that was not available until a ‘regular’ asked for it, at which point, ‘Hey Presto!’ here it is. It wasn’t about the money, just who they wanted to serve. Fortunately legal tender in the U.K. can be used anywhere and that is where it will be used after this.

This is my favourite siu mei restaurant in Birmingham. Their portion is big and the price is reasonable. I would recommend their BBQ pork (even though I am not a big fan) and char siu. Roasted duck is also good.

This place is amazing. Beautiful and perfectly cooked meats, amazing noodle dishes and more. The restaurant is tiny, but if you can get a table inside it is worth it. The takeaway is just as amazing, I just don't like waiting till I get home to eat it.

The portion is good size, the smell was absolutely amazing, taste fantastic, the roast pork skin was crispy, char Sui was soft with little fat, the soya sauce chicken taste so soft not tough at all. The soup was delicious don’t taste any MSG. Staff waitress was friendly. Will definitely come back again.

A last minute decision to visit the Chinese Quarter led us here. A very tasty meal which was very reasonably priced. The char sui pork was delicious! Staff were very friendly and accommodating!

We had an early dinner here Easter Saturday. It's quite cramped inside, but there were a couple of tables available. Simplistic furniture decor with no tablecloths, napkins etc. like posh restaurants. The waitress took our orders quickly and the food arrived within 10 minutes. The presentation is quite basic - just a large plate with a lot of rice plus the extras (meat or veg with sauce) on top. It reminded me of the food my dad used to cook me decades ago as a kid. But it's definitely tasty and filling, and will settle in your stomach given time, so there's no need for starters. Each dish is just under a tenner, and that's value for money. We'll definitely come back to sample more of their menu.

A fantastic no frills Chinese eatery. The restaurant is nearly always crowded and offers nothing in the way of ambiance, allowing their excellent food and generous serving sizes to take centre stage. Three visits and half a dozen different dishes and we are yet to be disappointed. Looking forward to going back and trying all that their menu has to offer..

Very nice food, but open and shut whenever they fancy. Just been turned away over an hour and a half before the closing time of 9 o’clock been told they want to go home. Enjoying a nice meal at the restaurant next door.

Get the 3 roast rice. Amazing. Small place, feels quite crammed when busy, but has that authentic feel to it when it's that way, their duck is amazing and that lemon ice tea is so delicious!

Thursday 12pm. Lots of diners in tightly packed small cafe. Fried beef Hor fun flavourful with tender marinated beef slice. Some hor fun was not coated well though. Special roast meat with noodle soup on the side nicely done. Roast belly pork crispy yet not very salty and roast duck is nicely marinated. Very big portion.

Highly recommend this restaurant for outstanding starters, mains and sides for eating in and takeaways. Service is outstanding.

The Three Roast Rice is one of my favourite dishes in Birmingham, would absolutely recommend! Service was quick and the food was cheap and flavourful. Honestly couldn’t recommend more, great for a quick bite before or after a show!

I really enjoyed my visit here on Monday evening. The food was tasty and the prices were really reasonable. I ordered Pork and Aubergine with Rice and it was delicious. It's cash only but there's a cash point nearby so it's no problem. I will definitely be back here as I'd love to work my way through the whole menu!

Authentic feeling, unlicensed Chinese restaurant. Prices are fabulous. We have eaten here maybe 10 times since it opened (quite recently) and have yet to break the £20 barrier for a meal for two. There are some interesting choices on the menu, including a few that perhaps have translated badly into English (we've yet to risk asking for the 'fat ends') and we always end up wondering what other customers are having. Everything that is delivered to tables looks great. We normally pop in for an early dinner before catching a comedy show in Birmingham. It's close to the Arcadian Car Park so very convenient. One perhaps for the diner prepared to take a bit of a chance. Try one of the noodles in soup dishes, but make sure that you are hungry. Update October 2022. Look In remains excellent and unpretentious. Prices have gone up a bit, like everywhere, but still great value for money.

Was looking forward to trying this place but was a bit disappointed to be honest. The roast duck was mostly bone and there was a lot of just plain rice. Chow mein was nice though and the small amount of char siu was good.

Love this place. I order my food to takeaway but there's place to sit in too. The staff is very friendly and kind. The food is tasty and the portions are big. Love the variety of their menu as there are plenty of plates to choose from. One of my favourites is Sweet & Sour Pork, it's so good!

Not really happy with the lunch we had and quite pricy. The beef noodles were ok but we ordered squid which we couldn’t eat at all as it was too salty.

Went there for the first time lately, had mixed meat chow mein and have to say it was great and good size portion too. Would definitely recommend trying this place
