London Road Fish Bar in Cheshire East

I ordered fish and chips from here for lunch today, the fish smelt and tasted very fishy, but I assumed it was a different fish to the cod I usually get. I couldn’t finish it, as it was very strong, so gave the remaining fish (not batter) to my dog. It’s been just over an hour and my stomach is hurting, I’ve just been sick. Come downstairs and my dog has also vomitted it up…. I’m really not happy and won’t be giving them a penny of my money again!

The service from the staff from the minute we walk through the door was top notch! We had a big ordered ready to watch football

I’m a regular customer and have never been given a bad meal until today when I’ve got home, opened up my potato fritter bap only to find mouldy bread.

Always a good standard here. We went to the takeaway through lockdown and fish was always cooked well, nice to report that everything is still fresh and tasty. Keep up the good work

I am disappointed to have to write this review however since Mario has moved to his other chippy the quality of food has fallen. We simply had Haddock and chips this evening, the fish was dry as if it had been cooked and had been left standing for a while, the chips were very bitty and tasted stale, again is if they had been precooked and left standing. London Road is our local chippy which we have been using and enjoying for years, of late we have been disappointed with the quality and feel it is time to give somewhere else a chance.

Food is tasty & reasonably priced. Love that they have started doing halloumi fries! A chicken kebab with salad in pitta is my fave for a healthier chippy tea. Staff are friendly & welcoming, and the kids love the little treat bags they get with their meals.

Tasty Fish and Chips! The portion sizes were huge although the food was so delicious we stuffed ourselves. The staff were great and very patient when we asked lots of questions about the different options and sizes of fish. Can highly recommend. Worth queuing for.

Birthday party yesterday evening ordered fish and chips 🍟 for 45 people . It was amazing food hot , correct portion size . So many complaints about the food . Would highly recommend for a large group of people

Had a large kebab, hardly any meat at all due to young lad messing around singing and dancing to music. Really disappointing, looks like management have completely switched off which is sad as used to be value for money now you pay over £5 for a salad sandwich and the youngsters think that is funny.

We were staying over at Greenfields camp site and asked for a recommendation for a chip shop from the owner. She said to try London Road fish Bar. We needed good parking for pick up as we were in a motorhome and also wanted nice food. The food was delicious. We had pie, chips, fish, peas, gravy. All so yum. Portions huge. Their small chips was what our large chips are like here. Tray of our and chips can serve two. Maybe shouldn’t have ordered salt snd vinegar on everything though as it was a bit too salty. Husband had a small mixed kebab and he was very happy with it- he tried lots of mixed kebabs from all over the place so if he says it’s good it must be. Don’t try and go in unless it’s your exact collection time. They won’t like it. Fair enough really. Did warn my husband not to try but he did and said he didn’t get a great reception from them. If you’re nervous with Covid be warned though as husband also said the staff weren’t wearing masks and all working very closely together. I have to wear a mask all day every day in my job so I prefer it if others do too but you may not have a problem with that. Quality food though so we were glad we went there and tried it out.

Once again the quality at London Road fish bar was first class. Traditional tasty fresh fish and chips at a decent price. Watch out Knutsford this is how a chippy should be!!

Takeaway tea for the family, had various dishes, all of which were top class and cooked to perfection. Service is always quick and with a smile. You can now order with click and collect which makes things quicker.

Fish and chips to take home. 1st time we were disappointed as the chips and fish were not very warm, chips looked pale and undergone.

Purchased fish and chips from here Saturday evening- fish smelled too strong and tasted off - husband now gone to bed feeling poorly. Trying to support local businesses but this experience is off putting. Businesses must do better than this if they want to survive.

Thank you to Mario and his staff for helping us arrange a surprise meal for our parents during lockdown. Mario couldn't have done anymore to make this a really special meal and the food was amazing. Everyone is feeling very full and happy. So impressed!

Couldn't decide where to go for tea tonight. Read a lot of reviews about the London Road Fish Bar and thought to give this a whirl. I was impressed, the portions are enormous, the fish and chips we bought was enough for 4 people and there were only two of us. It was delicious. Friendly staff, and quick service, I would definitely make my way over to Holmes Chapel again.

My wife and I don’t have massive appetites and we find one portion of fish and small chips more than enough for the two of us and struggle to even finish a small portion of chips. This makes the meal very good value. There is a wide choice of other food available and is usually quite fresh.

under cooked chips that had an almost gluey texture. curry sauce also was horrible. wont be returning.

Having just moved into the village in August, we have had fish & Chips at least twice a week, and they are always perfect, the best chippy in Cheshire.

Good range. Wish they did kebabs on skewers but apart from that they have everything you’d want and friendly staff too. They also will make up bespoke things like fish cake on buttered roll with salad and garlic mayo - try it!

Nice friendly staff always served with a smile, good tasting chips and plenty of other things on their menu to choose from. This is my go to chippy definitely!

The fish and chips are good, however, the staff can be unfriendly and do not acknowledge you when you go in. They need to have some customer service training and leave you standing waiting with no explanation.

Good selection, quick service even with a queue, the fish is always fresh. The pies are very good and there isn’t many bad chips in the portions.

On a road trip and sought quick and cheap dinner spots in this area. This place did not disappoint - exactly the fish and chips experience we were after.

Average food at best, can be very greasy chips and battered fish, never had a good meal from here but unfortunately no other places to get fish and chips from within a 10 mile radius!

Having travelled all over this country this is by far the best fish and chip shop anywhere,including Whitby.always huge portions of chips enough for two and the fish is absolutely divine and cannot be faulted.we always ask for lightly battered and it never disappoints.the smell emanating from there is mouth watering,unlike some chippys that smell like greasy spoons.keep up the excellent work,and Thank you.

Visited many times, fantastic choice available. Fish always excellent and a half portion is enough for one. Other options, chicken, pies etc always great and all with great chips. Staff excellent and friendly. Well worth the short drive.

Went in tonight whilst working locally in the area. Its as good as I remember, and still good value. Really recommend the meal deals, cod, sausage, chips and curry sauce for under a fiver and cooked really well - you just can't argue with that.

I have never found a better fish and chip shop.I Large helpings, huge menu, and excellent value. I use them every week, all year, Just can't do better. The staff are very cheerful and friendly and parking is easy. An 84 year old.

Sometimes it seems as though the simplest things in life are hardest to find - like some decent fish & chips! Thankfully, this place has got it cracked. I normally visit on a Friday evening and the queue is always out of the door so I am obviously not the only one. However, the queue moves along quickly. As another reviewer mentioned, the portions are large (massive fish!) and we tend to share two portions between two adults and two kids.

Really tasty fish. Nice thick fillets, covered in crisp batter. Chips are nice too (although a bit crisper would be good), and the portions are too massive: enough for at least three people! Friendly, fast service. Great, local chippy!

I found this hidden gem a few years back when travelling to and from Radbroke Hall on business. If I am in the area I always swing by as it is a great fish and chip shop. It's excellent value for money, and I'll grab pudding chips and curry sauce before I head down the M6... beats anything in the services by a mile!
