Had lovely meal tonight steak and ale pie with chips and peas, couple of drinks amongst friends.

The food was OK, however roast potatoes were over cooked and dry. The main issue with this pub is the wait time on food. The pub wasn't very busy and we were waiting for nearly 45 minutes for 2 fry ups and a roast dinner. Staff didn't seem to care about this and by the looks of it, the average wait time for food was at least half an hour. The staff didn't seem to care and didn't apologise for the long wait. There are far better pubs in alvaston to eat at, don't waste your time going to the lodge.

Went at 3pm on Saturday 7th September, the two meals we ordered were absolutely disgusting. One was the full stack of ribs - the ribs were only just warm not fully cooked and very tough ,the meat was hard to get off the bone . The corn on the cob was dry and tough.The second meal was the xl mixed grill - the steak (medium !) was tough as old boots and overdone ,difficult to cut with the steak knife. The chicken was overcooked , the garden peas like bullets and both lots of chips were just warm. We brought the meat home for our two dogs(Hope they eat it !) Would not recommend this restaurant.

Lovely bar with plenty of seating inside and out, staff very helpful and friendly and the food was great, good value and very tasty worth a visit for sure.

We moved to Derby two months ago and are very happy to have discovered Lodge. The food is quite good compared to the UK average. The staff are incredibly sweet and friendly. The owner tries to engage with everyone. We make sure to go every week. It's very enjoyable to sit in the outdoor area when the weather is nice. We love here. Thank you!

My food was a little over cooked. A meal with family. Portions was good and service was great.

Only my second drink there but the ipa was very satisfying, looking forests to trying a few more real ales there. Update June 2024; went in for food, the gammon on a hot stone with fried egg and small potatoes was really nice. A good price as well.

5 of us had a lovely meal. Great value, friendly staff and quiz night thrown in.

Worse meal I've every had steak i asked for med/well and it was burnt gammon was burnt pepper sauce was £2 extra I received a table spoon measure in a side jug if that won't be returning

A Green King Flaming Grill chain pub, a wide variety of food available and drinks all at competitive prices, the service was very good ,the staff are very attentive helpful and always available.

Lovely to be back at The Lodge now that it's warm enough to be outside on their lovely terrace. Really efficient and friendly staff. If only they changed their policy regarding allowing dogs inside we could be year round customers!

Brand new menu is a must try. Ribs are incredible! Quiz night on Tuesdays is great fun and worth a try too. Awesome loyalty app for regular discounts and freebies too! Well worth a visit

Advertised Sunday roasts. Read the reviews and thought it sounded a bargain. How wrong we were. Roast beef had obviously been precooked and heated up in a microwave. Mash was uneatable. Far too many roast potatoes. Yorkshire pud was soggy. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.

Cassi was amazing loved how she offered my little girl a cold plate instead of a hot plate which made her happy. She was so pleasant and helpful

We've been here a good bunch of times for food and it's always hit or miss if your food comes out sizzling on a skillet. The times it does we love it, the times it doesn't just ruins your meal. In general the food is good though.

Come in for the quiz, had a hunters gammon and it was well nice, thanks team!

Great place.. It was quiz night and we hadn't booked a table, still managed to fit us in.. Quiz was interactive through your phone. I was very impressed with it. Living in Somerset, it was something I'd never seen before. Bit slow down here lol. We will be back and join in next time.

Went for a family Xmas meal, food was absolutely terrible and very slow! Whole place was totally rammed with drunk lads and girls, only 4 tables of people eating surrounded by this, definately not a family meal kind of place, toilets had all been blocked with toilet roll and flooded with faces on the floor. An all round bad experience 👎

Arrived 5 minutes before our actual booking (booked online) to be asked could we come back in 20 minutes as they had a pre arranged event just coming to an end, we couldn't as we had plans we seated ourselves and ordered via the app the starter's arrived substandard comes to mind never have I ever had COLD nachos of any description but hayhoe thought it was just a blip, then the mains arrived again substandard tasteless even my granddaughter said she didn't like it and she only had sausage and chips, don't even get me started on the side dish of sweetcorn it looked like the chef had eaten one and sent it out after, it didn't end there the toilets were disgusting don't think the cleaner bothered that morning or ever to be fair definitely won't be going back ever the one star was for the coke zero.

Lunchtime meal with the family after swimming. Food was nothing special. Could have done with another member of staff. Didn't like the atmosphere.

Great place to go for a quick lunch or a nice meal for evening for a reasonable price . The sharing steak platter looks amazing and is on my to do list next visit overall great experience every time even at busy periods well done to all the team .

Love the place always good food

We nipped into the lodge today to get our children something for lunch. The staff were so friendly and showed us the children area that has been done for children to watch a film and play board games. This made the overall experience of eating out so easy, even better with juice for the children. We will definitely be back and thanks so much for making a lunch a little easier.

Alvaston is also my favorite place. The staff are great.

Our local pub and the place we chose to have our wedding meal, so it holds a special place in our hearts. Always polite and friendly service and food is lovely.

Great pub with a friendly environment.

Went with my daughters family which included 2 small children, age 2 & 4. We all agreed the food was lovely each having something different. There was 7 cleared plates at the table. Including the children's! My 1 and only fault was the waiting. Not enough staff in any area. Drinks took ages as a long queue at the bar. Food took a very long time also. The few staff looked stressed and rushed off their feet. But overall it was delicious.

One particular staff not friendly at all, poor attitude. Also there was no chicken wings for the chick n mix platter however we were told we can’t replace the wings in the platter nor any changes in price. However very very upset by the attitude of the staff when ordering or when asking questions, no patience and poor attitude. Been here a couple of times but after this time I have doubts. 1st September afternoon time.
