Great food very generous portions perfectly cooked . Highly recommended and will go back with the entire family

Turns out everyone I know was working or busy today so it was just little me for dinner. So I called up Locky’s for a take away Carvery. 20 minutes later I was collecting it. They’ve got a great system in place to adhere to the social distancing guidelines. The Dinner it’s self was absolutely delicious as always and they put plenty on as you can see from the picture. I’ll definitely be having another one.

Been loads of times for sunday dinner and not once been disappointed. Haven't tried the weekly menu but if it's anything like their sunday dinners I'm sure its lovely food too.

We were a party of over 20 people who met up for lunch on Sunday 01 December 2019 at Lockys bar, we more or less see each other every week, but all meet up for our annual lunch date.We all sat down together on a big table, the lunch being a carvery, with 4 different meats, with Yorkshire puddings, stuffing, mashed & roast potatoes, different vegetables, gravy & different sauces. the chef puts your meat & stuffing on the plate, then you help your self to the rest of food mentioned.Prices £6.99 for over sixties, £7.99 for younger adults, not sur on childrens prices, but there is a discount.

Had a great time food was lovely cooked well birthday girl treated like royalty definitely return staff was absolutely brilliant

Called in for lunch, 2 meals for £10. We were the only ones eating and this made us feel a bit uncomfortable, but the staff were very friendly and this made up for it. My partner had liver and onions , I had roast beef, both meals very good and piping hot.

One of the favourites when it comes to a good night out. Saturday nights is always busy. Usually a bit of motown northern soul. Great place to finish up. Sunday carvery is great food great value. Midweek food always same great value with good potions

What a great menu they serve and all home cooking we moved to Wombwell 12 months ago and we've had many fantastic meals here I can recommend it with confidence we went in one evening after the local restaurant had a b boiler break down we went into Lockys and the bar staff said the kitchen closed an hour before but a lady playing pool who was staff asked what did we want she went and cooked seven meals for us and she wasn't even working that day can't thank them enough and we go almost every week for home made Sunday lunch

Stayed at a hotel just down the road and someone recommended Locky's for a drink....me and a colleague had a cracking night with good priced drinks, unbelievably good priced food that was real home cooking style and tasted amazing, on top of that it was quiz night and the banter from all of the staff and the locals was great and we were made to feel very welcome....I would recommend Locky's to anyone, a truly warm Yorkshire welcome...and if passing again it will be my first point of call...thank you for a great night.

We often call in lockys bar on our nights out. we had seen that they did food and kept saying we were gonna call and try it sooo today we did and the food was great portions are quite big and great value for money I had the chicken melt and my partner had fish and chips. It nice to see somewhere do proper home made chips and nor the frozen ones. Really enjoyed it our next visit for food will be for a Sunday lunch as from pictures I have seen look fantastic. Staff as always are lovely xxx

Had two meals for a tenner and was very pleasantly surprised at the quality. Tasted really good and very good value indeed. I spent almost five times this for a meal somewhere that was supposed to be excellent and this was far better!

Lockys is the ideal place for venues such as this, great space, good music, and lovely staff. We were very well catered for, many people enquired who supplied the food and said it was second to none, very tasty,well presented and there was enough to feed an army! It has two bars which were both open on our day, this made it easier as it was going to be a busy one! (England in world cup ) The day and evening passed so quickly, staff were very pleasant and helpful as always....everything ran very smoothly ....would recommend to anyone.

Came with friends to support a evening of tribute artists for charity absolute cracking night all artists rod stewart Tina turnor lady gaga meat loaf beyonce top drawer acts.as strangers got to say how friendly bar staff, customers,the boss and his wife all very welcoming run a good ship.

We first visited pub last week and tried 2 for £10 special was spot on so came again today got starter for 3.95 breaded garlic mushrooms which turned out to be a few mushrooms in garlic butter a complete waste of money then had cottage pie which said with chips or mash but was advised it had mash on already so no chips it was nice but not as stated on menu.

Came to celebrate a family birthday and didn't really know what to expect. Not being a local, I only had word of mouth to go on. I'm pleased to report that the positive reviews were accurate! A simple menu to choose from and all very reasonably priced. Ideal portion size and most importantly, delicious food. I had the hunters chicken ciabatta and couldn't fault it at all. To top it off, the service received from every member of the team at Lockys was down to earth and very friendly. Definitely coming back when I'm next in the area.

I & my wife booked last Sunday for the carvery, booking on the day, normally I book the day before.

There was a party of us booked for Sunday lunch on 3rd December 2017, with 15 people being in our party, which we have every year in Locky's Bar, plus other visits on our own.

Excellent food all fresh and home made. The dinners midweek are also tasty and home made. Definitely recommend. They’ve started doing delivery so ring them if you can’t be bothered to cook at home!

The Sunday carvery at this place is the best I have ever had, it's just like mum used to make, the roast beef is excellent and very juicy, the veg is cooked just right highly recommended

decided to finish off our holiday week by having sunday lunch out, we didn't book and luckily they had a spare table for 2, we quickly realised why it is so popular the carvery choice is one of the best we have been to anywhere and very nicely cooked too, we walked back home stuffed and very satisfied with the food quality, we will make sure we book next time to guarantee getting a table

Visitamos en críticas de tripadvisor y no me decepcionó. Bar principal en el frente es un establecimiento de primera clase regular de trabajo con bitter, la sidra de barril, y varias botellas de bebidas alcohólicas incluyendo cerveza y refrescos, restaurante está en la parte trasera es de un estilo más pulido. El personal era amable y servicial, el servicio era genial, tanto en el bar y en el restaurante. La comida era deliciosa y había mucho para ser tenido en cuenta! La carne y roasties era particularmente bueno. Y luego de los postres, ¡guau! Gran selección y delicioso, también muy buena relación, tres postres, además de helados de crema por 4 libras! Bien merece una visita.

We decided to go to lockys for our Sunday dinner at the request of my step-daughter and husband who were visiting.... they now live down south. There were six of us, my other step daughter and her partner and my partner. We have dined there before and again we all were not disappointed... Staff lovely, food excellent. We will definitely be returning again.

1st time I've visited for Sunday lunch. Good selection of meat 4 in total with pork, ham, turkey and beef. Good selection of veg. Reasonable prices and £6.99 per adult. It was very busy so obviously a locals favourite only criticism I have is the cauliflower cheese was still hard and the Yorkshire puds slightly over cooked and tough. Other than that a nice meal out..nice environment, good price and stress free. If you plan a visit on a Sunday book in advance otherwise you might not get a table.

You have to book for Sunday carvery choice from 4 meats with all the trimmings is excellent . Staff are brilliant and all desserts are home made. Gets very busy but worth a visit.

Booked in again today for a Sunday carvery and everything was perfect. Staff are pleasant and courteous and the food is absolutely 5*!!! All the carvery food was delicious and piping hot. Give Locky's a try ... I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Came for Sunday lunch with my boyfriend, we booked the table for 1:30 we was half way through eating when the table next to us didn't have enough space to accommodate everyone so they asked us if one of them could sit with us on our table, this made us feel uncomfortable as we had booked that specific table and didn't expect strangers to invite themselves on to our table. We left straight, we felt that we had been pushed off of our table. Not happy.

Me my partner and son had a carvery here it was absolutely gorgeous. Plentiful and very tasty would highly recommend.

For £6.99 the food was great. Get to pick from four different meats. I had pork leg and beef. Then help yourself to veg and Yorkers etc. All of which was delicious and gravy was yum.

Went to lockeys for the mid week carvery , friday 27th Jan .Free vegetable soup for starters ( how good is that ) .Fabulous meal Ham n Turkey today plus stuffing, crackling ,yorki pud , and all the vegetables of course , superb gravy . Served by Lesley and Cath today brill service as usual .Been served by Terri and Jamie in the past and equally good service . Excellent meal Excellent service Excellent value . I visited Lockys Wednesday night with a few of my friends for the first time ever. We ordered a pint of Guinness, pint of Carling and a double vodka lime and soda. The lady asked if I wanted house or proper vodka. The total for all 3 drinks was around the £7.80 mark, I thought the lady had charged me wrong I'm not used to such cheap prices. The service me and my friends received was friendly and fast, I believe it was Terrie and her boyfriend Jamie that was behind the bar and they are a credit to Lockys Bar extremely polite and great chemistry between them they work fantastic together. The Guinness is the best I've had for a long time. Jamie made sure it was just perfect before serving it. We asked Terrie what the entertainment was and she explained what was happening as well as filling us in on what else happens through the week at Lockys Bar. We will most certainly be back on Mondays and Wednesdays when Terrie and Jamie are working on s regular basis.Well done Lockys Bar for such fantastic customer service.Scottie L.

I come regular with my mum or boyfriend. As soon as you walk in you feel welcomed and all staff are lovely. It's also clean and the food is the best. Lisa greets me and shows me to the table. And after we have finished I get great table service. On one occasion kirby took my plates and asked if I wanted a dessert. I don't normally have them but it was gorgeous. The staff can never do to much for you! Thank you.

I visit lockys bar quite a lot, had my 18th birthday party here it was Fantastic, also come for a few drinks on nights out & come for Sunday dinner Which is the best dinner in Barnsley! First came across this place nearly 4 years ago Wigan was playing Barnsley away me n a couple of mates got chatting with the owner locky and had a cracking couple of hours with him since then I kept in touch with him via Facebook and now every time we have an away day in Yorkshire this is the place we go two coaches full all the supporters love it they put food on for us which is lovely the ale is cheap and good jamie and the rest of the staff are fantastic always smiling nothing is too much trouble for them absolutely love this place couldn't recommend it highly enough

Came here on a night out with a few friends and the service and atmosphere was great, the staff were friendly too i would definitely recommend people to visit if you want a great night out. it was my first time out in 9 months and i felt comfortable in the atmosphere at Lockys Bar.

I am a regular at lockys bar, i go there for steak night or a social visit, the service is fantastic they do your food how you like it, you will never leave the place feeling hungry, all the staff are fantastic, that is why we choose them to cater for our wedding coming up as we know they will do a brilliant job.

Locky's Bar is what they say "simply the best" ive been a regular for several years and although there are pubs closer to me this will always be my local. Lockys has entertainment 7 nights a week with karaoke and games to win money with large big screens for the sport. Locky's is packed with friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere... excellent food throughout the week including the best Sunday carvery I've ever had. They also do several functions throughout the year to raise money for charity and for the locals entertainment. Always a warm welcome, top service at excellent prices.

Me and my family have been a few times for our Sunday lunch, we are usually greeted by a friendly, polite young lady behind the bar. (Sorry not too sure of her name. But she's extremely tall, usually wears glasses and dark hair. I must find it out next time we visit). But this week when we visited she wasn't behind the bar. I thought she must have had the day off. When we went in for dinner I was suprise to see the young lady in the dining area. As usual friendly and polite she helped my child get her dinner and even persuaded her to have some veg she normally don't eat. As soon as our plates were finished she asked if she could clear the table for us. It was a nice change around. Especially to see the young lady making the extra effort with all the dinersAs usual Jamie the chef was fantastic always smiling and having a joke and laugh with the diners as he cuts the meats. And offers stuffing and crackling.All in all we always enjoy our self's every time we visit. All the staff are accommodating and ask if your meal is ok. All the staff are polite. Lockys has the best staff in the barnsley area. For me Jamie needs extra special praise for all the hard work he does. He always makes me and my family laugh. And makes rhe childern feel special. And when I've been in on a weekend with my other half he always makes the effort to start a conversation and ask how we are doing all while working. He a diamond. And always smiley.We will most certainly be back again. No doubt about that. Well done to Locky and Christine for choosing some of the best staff around.I've recommended lockys to all my friends and work friends. 5**

Been today for a meal at lockys bar its was fantastic and worth every penny the food was very hot and excellent quality I would go again and again the service given by Jamie was excellent too I would recommend to everyone

Locky's is the place to be especially on a weekend if you want a boogie or have a go on the karaoke, the staff are brilliant very friendly and willing to help, there's a good choice of alcoholic beverages and the food is brilliant especially the Sunday dinner. It's really a good place to be there's plenty of screens for the footy and also you can enjoy a game of pool.

We have visited Locky's on many occasions for Sunday Lunch and have never ever been disappointed. The food is always beautiful all 4 meats perfectly cooked homemade Yorkshire puds, crispy crackling, lovely veggies and the meaty gravy is to die for. There is always something for everyone, even the fussiest people could not complain! Excellent value too at just £6.99 for a huge adult portion!There is an excellent selection of beers and lagers and probably the best Guinness in Wombwell.Locky, Christine, Lisa, Kath and all the staff are all very welcoming, attentive and friendly they really do make you feel at home!!!We will defiantly be back very soon!!!

Bar staff great on arrival. Nice choice of beers on draught . Order our food at bar and we sat diwn . My wife ordered chicken tikka pie . I had steak pie . It all came out hot and homemade chips to die for . Next time family come up we try carvery there on a Sunday

We decided to pay another visit to Lockys Bar for Sunday lunch on the 16th October 2016.There was four of us for sunday lunch,I pre-booked the table the day before, best to book as it does get busy, with people coming in who have not booked.The price for adults is normal large plate meal £6.99 per person, a smaller plate called a pensioners £5.99 per person. On offer this week was Beef, Pork leg joint, Pork loin, Belly pork, Roast Ham, Turkey, which the chef puts on your plate along with stuffing & pork scratching. Then you help yourself to Yorkshire puddings, Roast & Mashed Potatoes, Cabbage, Carrots, Cauli-flower in a sauce, Sweetcorn, along with a lovely rich gravy, & different sauces for your meats.We booked for 1.30pm just right, after getting our drinks we went & queued for our food, at 2.00pm there was a lot of people come in on off chance of getting a table, which the staff do their best to accomadate.Good food no pots to wash or getting the lunch prepared, have a day off from the cooker & sink, & have a lovely Sunday lunch in Lockys Bar, Wombwell.

Just enjoyed a fabulous Sunday lunch here which is served as a carvery. We hadn't booked but the lovely staff found us a table which was great. A choice of 4 meats, stuffing, crackling, Yorkshire puds and a good variety of freshly cooked vegetables. Gorgeous meaty thick gravy complimented the meal. It's the first time we've been but it definitely won't be our last. As well as the food been amazing the staff are too ... friendly and attentive. A must try and I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

True testament to Lockys bar in Wombwell is that people keep returning for the excellent Sunday lunch.We keep returning, whether with our family, or on our own as a couple, because of Tripadvisor rules a forum member can only review a place a few times a year, but if I could I would review the excellent bar / restaurant every time we visit.On offer a selection of meats, roast beef, pork, turkey, ham with stuffing & crackling, then you help yourself to yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, carrots, cabbage, sloppy peas & cauliflower in a sauce, with lovely thick gravy, with condiments of different sauces.A meal that everyone enjoys, price for pensioners £5.99, normal adult meal £6.99, children get free meals up to a certain age, so a winner for families. If you have room, there are lovely deserts to have.The pub restaurant has a selection of beers & lagers, with outside seating area for smoking, good service with a smile, true Yorkshire hospitality.There are disco / music karoake nights, plus other dining options, worth a visit.

We found Locky's Bar last December as a very good Sunday lunch venue, since then we have visited quite regularly as a couple, with family & groups of friends for birthday's etc.The food is very good & home made, with 4 meats on offer,help yourself to 4 to 5 different vegetables, roast & mashed potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, with good homemade gravy, along with different relishes for different meats. Good service is always on offer from the staff, with a friendly smile. There is a pensioners price of £1 less on the sunday lunches, with plenty of good food on offer, it is excellent value for money.John Smiths smooth & Magnet on offer, with different lagers, try a visit, well worth the time, & go to the friendly Locky's Bar.

A great pub for older (over 25) clientelle. I have frequented this pub over many years and the owner Arthur has always moved with the times changing to suit, from a nightclub to karaoke and meals. Whenever My wife and I visit we are always made welcome and the landlord always finds time (if in) to come over and chat. It now caters for all ages serving meals everyday with a creditable sunday lunch a variety of beers and lagers and Karaoke every night till 9pm then disco till late.The staff are friendly and helpful and work really hard. I find it a good place to socialise and would recommend to any age.

We go every Sunday for lunch. Never had a bad meal yet. Worth a visit. Owners are very welcoming. All the staff are pleasant . Vegetables are fresh and so are the Yorkshire puddings.

Lockys Bar came to our attention in December 2015, when friends said that we all ought to have a pre-Christmas meal in the bar, with people in our party saying the food was excellent.So we booked a party of 18 people for a Sunday lunch, week before Christmas, to which the bar had prepared a table to accommodate us all, plus 2 bottles of wine, the meal & service was excellent.Since then we have visited three different times in January, once with our family, once with friends, & today again as a party of 15 people, to which today we were celebrating two of our groups birthday's. One of our group pre-booked the venue a few weeks ago, to ensure we were able to have our celebration.On entering Luckys bar you are met with a friendly atmosphere, where you have staff who make you welcome, on purchasing drinks, we also purchased a lunch card.Having booked our meal for 3pm, we were shown to our table by the head waitress, all the female & male staff were in smart uniform.The Sunday lunch is a carvery, where you go to the chef, give him your lunch card, ( There are two prices on the lunches, one being a pensioner lunch for £5.99, & a normal lunch for £6.99 ).There were 4 meats, Roast Beef, Roast Pork, Roast Turkey & Roast Ham, which you can mix, the 2nd chef puts Stuffing & Pork Crackling on your plate, which is on a plate tray, then you help yourself to Yorkshire pudding, Roast potatoes, Carrots, Cabbage, Cauliflower -in- Cheese, Mushy peas, Mashed potatoes, with a lovely rich Gravy to add, with Apple sauce, Cranberry sauce, Horse radish, Mint sauce.The food is well presented & fresh vegetables used, a credit to the owners & staff, in the presentation of the carvery.There are sweets if anyone can manage to try to indulge, which looked really nice.What also makes the Lockys bar special is that the owners come & have a natter & a laugh, as do the busy staff, always asking if everything is alright with the meal.The bar has a range of beers & lagers, plus other drinks to accommodate all customers.Lockys Bar has to be the best Sunday Carvery in the area, for excellent food, service & hospitality. This shows as we have been four times in six weeks, & certainly will be back many more times.My tip book for the carvery, as the venue is very popular, but if you haven't booked they will try their best to accommodate anyone.Lockys Bar is also open for excellent meals during the week also, & have Disco nights if you want to dance the night away.

Having made a promise to myself to never rate a place without 3 or more visits without exceptional cercumstances, I have to come clean and say I have visited for food twice, but the staff, atmosphere and quality of the place made me review today.The time before was some months ago and I tried to call in before today but never made it (cash/time ect) but today I made the trip out and did not regret the decision. £6.99 for their carvery, turkey, beef, pork and another meat was on offer. The turkey was good, the beef tender, the vegtables were brilliant and the gravy was real gravy with the juices I believe in it with small beef pieces.After being handed your plate with your meat, asked about crackling and stuffing you are free to add your own yorkshire(s), veg, sauces and gravy. The Mash used was seemingly not instant but real mash, cauliflower cheese with actual cheese melted in and on. I could go on but I won't.The staff were polite, profesional in both their attire and their work, The atmosphere was brilliant, as a drop-in without a reservation I was seated quickly and explained the way it works there.Without a shadow of a doubt I would recomend this place to any and all.

A lively bar with good music and Karaoke most nights,also a chance to win money with the various games that they play, good food is served every afternoon with a varied selection and Sunday carvery to die for.

We go quite often for Sunday lunch. Don't be put off by the exterior or location. The staff are lovely and always make the effort to make everyone feel special. The food is very good and reasonably priced. The meal is a carvery and recently they appear to be serving home made Yorkshire puddings rather than pre cooked ones. There is ample choice of veg which changes slightly each week and the roasted potatoes are delicious. No airs and graces just very good value excellent home cooked food. Really loved the trio dessert. When is it back?

We've been as a family on quite a few occasions for sunday lunch, and always enjoy it. The food is beautiful, and we've always had quick service. The staff are friendly, and can't do enough to help you. The desserts are absolutely delicious! Would recommend for a family dinner out.

karaoke, crowded bar area but big dance floor and a nice mixed crowd. I will go again and again. try for yourself to see if its your cup of tea.

being a regular visitor to lockys bar i would highly recommend the sunday lunch carvery,you will always get a warm freindly yorkshire welcome from arthur (locky), chriistine and the superb staff the food is excellent .also try lockys for a night out theres sally on karioke and the atmosphere is always brilliant

I have been here many times for the Sunday carvery and they always have a selection of at least 4 different meats. Beef, Pork, Gammon or Turkey. Occasionally they will also have Lamb. Typical carvery where you pay for your meal at the bar and they give you a ticket which you present to the bloke carving the meat. You can a selection of meats if you so desire. Always have homemade stuffing and pork crackling. A large selection of vegetables and as many Yorkshire puddings as you want. Food is cooked to perfection and for £6.99 you really cannot go wrong. They also have a selection of desserts if you have the room for one.It benefits from having a large free carpark at the side of it. This carpark does not belong to the restaurant but it is free and convenient with disabled parking spaces as well.Service is excellent but you will be advised to book in advance although not always nessessary.
