Loch Venacher Harbour Cafe in Stirling

We hired this venue for a group of 50 friends from US, Australia & NZ, it's a fantastic location & we had a brilliant day. Just needed some old flower arrangements etc cleared before our guests arrived & a bit of a freshen up, but highly recommend this venue to hire!

Great location for my daughter’s wedding. Thankfully the weather stayed dry for the outdoors ceremony at the lochside. Canapes were good. Unfortunately the wedding meal was a disappointment. It was embarrassing the number of guests unable to eat their steak as it was not fully cooked and raw inside. Not just rare but actually raw. The guests of course did not like to complain but the kitchen must have seen all the meat being returned. The lochside location was stunning, the staff friendly and the venue was ideal for a small party of 60. I could not recommend however due to the quality of food served.Owner has also not responded to complaint.

This place is fabulous. The front of house staff were excellent; friendly and attentive whilst seeming genuine with it. The food was delicious. Flavours exquisite, fish and meat cooked perfectly. Portions exactly right. Honestly significantly better than some Michelin starred places I've been. I'd be perfectly happy to eat here every night of my holiday; and I haven't even mentioned the fabulous setting!

We had booked a viewing 1 month in advance and had arranged for some family to attend alongside us, whom had travelled up for the weekend to attend. The night before we received a very short abrupt email to say they had to attend an event therefore our viewing was cancelled. We replied to say we were very disappointed, to receive an email back that simply said "sorry but circumstances outwith our control" So glad we actually had this experience now with them as I'd hate to think the experiences you would face with having an actual wedding date booked with them. Zero professionalism, would suggest they reconsider their morals and values.

So your loyal customers over the years do not matter; it seems its now an events and weddings venue only but no communication to that effect; so 2 wasted trips for us which were potentially quite special but disappointment all round - private function!

So wanted to eat here however it is now primarily a weddings and events venue with only the odd weekend as a restaurant. Very nice staff member advised us of this as they were setting up for a wedding. Lovely location.

We where due to have our wedding here in Dec 2020 but due to covid we weren't able to have the day we had planned although the lovely owner opened up the venue for an hour on our day to allow us to come up and get married on our date at our venue with a small group of family/friends. They then held our date till Dec 2021 and we returned on our 1st anniversary to have the day we have planned previously. The staff on both days where great and couldn't have been more helpful and understanding. Throughout our special day the staff kept us informed on everything that was going on and if any changes where happening, they where also super attentive not only to us but all our guests. The food was delicious and all our guests couldn't stop commenting on it. We would highly recommend this venue not only for a meal with stunning views but for a personal and intimate wedding.

Due to a clash of dates we were going to miss out on lunch at this restaurant and that would have seriously knackered our weekend celebrations; however, after a short email exchange the owner came up with a fantastic solution and saved the day! Despite having a wedding to prepare for, the owner and flat-mate arrived at our Carsaig rental and cooked a meal for 6 people. The food was fantastic, they joined in the banter and tided up when the meal was finished. I even got an extra helping of their Cullen Skink! Venachar Lochside, nice one and thanks.

We had the most delicious meal prepared by Venachar Lochside for a friend’s big birthday. Food and service was just fabulous. As we were staying nearby for a few nights we also visited for lunch and takeaway cakes for afternoon tea. Highly recommend the venue, setting, food and service.

Travelled from Dunfermline today to attend a viewing here as a wedding venue. Upon arrival we find the venue was closed. Completely understand that there have been issues with the weather but to be met with a closed sign on the door and no courtesy call or email whatsoever to let us know not to visit or travel is very unprofessional. Such a shame but we won’t be back, not a great start and a 2 hour round trip!

The setting of this restaurant is really picturesque and beautiful. The food was ok. We were quite cold and the lights kept flickering in the restaurant all the time which were a little annoying. The waitresses were lovely girls and very attentive. Not to mention the beautiful dog that lived there. Would probably say it’s worth a visit if you’re ever in the area.

We were a bit early for our booking which wasn't a problem as we were greeted at the door with a hearty welcome! We were well looked after by an effervescent young woman, who couldn't have been more charming. Hearty portions of carefully prepared food arrived in good time from point of order and we made sure we skipped the starter to leave room for the dessert - we weren't disappointed by the expertly spiced apple and sultana crumble served with a jug of cream on the side - outstanding! Don't be disappointed - check the website for opening times and book before you go!

Kind of amateurish. We arrived outside at 4:50 and enquired with staff member if still open. 'Yes but only teas and coffees' Perfect I thought, so got out the car and went inside. We arrived and stood at the pay-point at front of door waiting to be seen and shown to a table. Eventually had to call over to staff who were serving from the drinks/bar area to inquire if it was ok to take a seat? A stoney faced waitress advised ‘yes’ in a quite unwelcoming way… we finally received our menu and then food from the same non-interested person who clearly has no interpersonal/communication skills for the job. Mediocre all round!

Lovely location, nice interior, tasty good quality food. Let down by the service as we felt we were waiting around for ages to either have order taken or plates taken etc.

Went to Vanacher Lochside recently to attend a 60th birthday party. We were unbelievably lucky with the weather, sat outside and had an excellent time. The service was first class and food was very nice indeed. No complaints at all.
