We recently enjoyed a four-day stay at Loch Leven Lodges, and it was nothing short of magical. The lodges were impeccably clean and featured beautiful interiors that offered stunning views of the surrounding trees and loch. Just a five-minute walk led us to the lakeside, while a ten-minute stroll brought us to a lovely seat on a higher vantage point, providing breathtaking views of Loch Leven. For nature enthusiasts, the first bird hide was a mere fifteen minutes away or less, adding an exciting element to our daily adventures. This trip was our first getaway without the kids, and everything was perfect. The tranquility and beauty of the location made it a truly special experience.

Nice place, nice views of the Lomonds and Loch Leven, sadly a bit cool for sitting out today, but I took some video from the veranda I'm looking forward to checking later. Food was lovely, service was friendly and good-humoured. Everything was clean and tidy. Pretty good range of stuff on the menu, so plenty of choice. Good range of cold drinks too. I really enjoyed my cheeseburger - best burger I've had for a long time. It was nice and firm and tasty too. A really nice bite. The cheesecake was delicious too. Last time I was there we had stovies which was perfectly acceptable and Mum had those again today. We shall definitely look favourably on returning. Sorry, can't add photos because I shot a timelapse and it is currently taking "about an hour" to transfer to my computer

I stayed with my best mate and his wife and their two young boys for a week @ the Loch Leven Lodges in early September 2023. I have never been anywhere as beautiful in my life! The experience of travelling to the Loch Leven Lodges was amazing a beautiful cabin owned by Company owner of the cafe Beverley, who was the nicest lady to deal with friendly, kind and a warm welcoming for us south Londoners a long way from home. The cafe's food was amazing and I tried Hague for the first time which was surprisingly delicious. I food sets you up for the 13.2 miles walk around the perimeter of the lake which was simply a breath taking experience. Highly recommend this place and I will be 100% visiting next year where I plan to bring my own family to visit a lovely bunch of people from the Scottish beauty spot! Thanks, especially to Beverley who really looked after me when I had to stay for two extra nights for business reasons - you are amazing!

This review of the coffee shop might come across as a bit negative but it's not meant to be! It's just that we had never visited the place before and didn't know what to expect. We would have thought a coffee shop would smell of coffee and baking; instead, there was a strong smell of frying - obviously the main menu is geared towards that, but a better ventilation system would help. The coffee was OK, but it is dispensed from a self-service machine, and there was a limited selection of cakes. The place was full, and the cooked food was obviously popular. A bit of a disappointment for us, but not for the others tucking into their cooked meal! Plenty of parking, and beautiful views over the loch.

Went here this afternoon as somewhere a bit different to have a coffee. Ordered a latte and americano both of which came out of a machine. Both completely undrinkable with a revolting taste - for some reason my americano had a weird tobacco like tang. We both left after a couple of mouthfuls and went elsewhere. To top it all I found I'd been given a 1 Euro coin instead of a £1 coin in my change from here. No excuse in this day and age for such sub standard drinks. Definitely not going back or recommending.

Went to this cafe for some lunch on the way to Perth shopping and it was a great choice! Husband had a medium breakfast and a tea, I had a Ploughman’s lunch and a bottle of irn bru and it was little over £12 with decent portion sizes which were delicious. The only warning I’d give is not to be as daft as I am if you’re vegetarian - check with the staff about the contents first. My ploughman’s came with ham and a slice of ham quiche but it was entirely my fault! The plate was also filled with lovely salad, coleslaw, potato salad, apricot chutney, cheeses and a couple of slices of bread and butter. For veggies there are lots of options - including a vegetarian breakfast and a vegetarian Cajun burger. Vegan options...possibly the beans on toast or soup, some of the items could possibly be adjusted but worth checking first. Will definitely be back.

All plates were cleared from us anyway and the ice creams afterwards hit the spot. There are some lovely views whether eating inside or out, however if dining in the latter just be careful with little ones as it’s quite close to the road coming in. It would be lovely to see this hedged off or having some more trees/plants and bushes outside to compliment the amazing spot it basks on. Could be doing with more authentic coffee as it just from the machines but still drinkable. Thanks for topping up all of our water bottles too. We will definitely be back here again.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

It's such a shame that this place doesn't make more of an effort as it's in a truly magnificent location with gorgeous views over the loch, is easy to get to and has plenty of free parking. The coffee shop really is a self-service, even if you've forgotten to pick something up - the staff won't get it for you! You're instructed to wait to be seated by a sign inside the door, but after a while of being ignored by the clearly bored and really quite lazy staff, we eventually just went to a table and sat down without being invited. You order your food at the counter and then have to help yourself to cutlery, napkins and even your drinks. The coffee is all from a standard machine, but I don't mean an espresso machine - it's the vending machine sort so is not great quality and your drink can't be customised in any way. The selection of cakes was your standard staple - carrot cake, plain or fruit scone and a few tray bakes, but for me nothing very exciting. We ordered soup and a toastie and a coffee and it was okay quality but nothing outstanding although with the combo pricing structure they offer was relatively inexpensive. We didn't realise quite how much of a self service it was, however, so hadn't picked up any cutlery. When the food arrived I asked the waiter for some cutlery and he pointed to the other side of the room and said we'd have to collect it from the stand there, then went back to lean on the wall at the counter. I'd have been more impressed if he'd made more of an effort at customer service and collected it for us seeing as he clearly wasn't particularly busy, but hey-ho. But the thing I liked least about this cafe is the "greasy spoon" atmosphere created by the smell of the fryer and the cooking food permeating the air that clung to our clothes long after we left. Overall, rather disappointing and unimpressive. For such a magnificent setting, I'd have expected a bit more of an effort to provide a great customer experience and more imaginative, better quality food.

Stopped off here after a walk around the loch and was disapointed in the service as we stood for a while at the entrance and were ignored for about 5 mins before I eventually walked in past the sign that said wait here to be seated and asked someone if we could have a table for two.Took a while before anyone came and even gave us menus to look at and then when we had placed our order someone else came and tried to take it again. As we were not impressed we only ordered soup and a couple of tea,s to see how that was rather than order some of the more expensive things on the munu and were glad we did as it was quite taistless and came with two very small slices of bread with butter. On finishing we decided to pay and go somewhere else but again trying to get someones attention to get the bill was as bad as when we arrived and on seeing a woman who seemed to be in charge I got up and walked towards here and asked can we pay the bill at the bar like counter they had but was ignored and wlked past as she was focussed on a couple who had just come in and sat at a table at the entrance with two children and I heard her say something like we have a family area next door so must have been so important to get them out of where we were I got ignored. The cost for two soups and tea for two came to just under £15 which seemed a lot for what we got but maybe it just felt a lot as we did not enjoy it or the service. We went out to the shop they have that backs onto the resturant and bought some ice creams and must say that was very good and cost £4 for two cones with one scoop.

They can't do enough for you!Great value, popular with the locals, wee secret treasure!

We had home made soup and bread, followed by delicious selection of home made cakes. Also has sandwiches, paninis and burgers. All freshly made to order. From the road it looks like ice cream only, but there is much more to this lovely clean little cafe with great views over Loch Leven from the terrace. Roadside signage for strangers doesn't do it justice.

Bit lacking on the gluten free meals but GF cakes are available; Ploughman's more than made up for it however. Fantastic home made bread and cakes though. Great service and Orkney Ice-Cream too.

We love our morning coffees and having read so many good reviews, decided to try this coffee shop. The setting is beautiful and the view from the decked area over the loch is great. The staff were helpful and friendly but I was surprised to find it was all self service even the hot drinks. As cappachino fans we were not impressed with the push button machine version, but the cakes were nice and the grandchildren enjoyed theirs. I feel that a lot more could be done but I suspect that they are facing a lot of competition and there would not be much trade out of season.

The Loch Leven’s Lodges Café is great place to visit when in the Kinross/Kinesswood/Scotland Well Area. The cafe is located next to Loch Leven Lodges and is adjacent to the large car park at the start of the popular Loch Leven Heritage Trail. It is a popular drop-in for hikers, dog-walkers, cyclists and photographers using the trail, or the little beach next to the Sluice House. Donna and her staff are very friendly and we often go in there for coffee and cake and I my case, bacon rolls, black pudding rolls, haggis rolls etc. As well as a range of delicious hot snacks they also appear to have expanded their choice of cakes and gorgeous home-made bread. There are nice photographs available to buy , that are displayed on the walls, The photos feature, nature, local scenes and more further afield Scottish beauty spots. From both inside the café and also from the outside terrace where you can sit, there are great views of Loch Leven, the Bishop Hill and St Serf’s Island. We can thoroughly recommend visiting this little gem.

Called in just in time to have a coffee and slice of delicious homemade cake. Closed at 5pm so a bit rushed but worth the travel. Really nice outside area in good weather. A very good selection of homemade slices, cakes and sandwiches on offer with freshly brewed tea's and coffee.Must be a great place in the summer!

We live locally , and visit here regularly , and find the food quality consistantly good , with a very casual atmosphere , just nice for relaxing after a drive , or walk with the dog around beautiful Loch Leven . Plenty car parking , easy to find , and the bill is never painful. An asset to the area , and one which I would highly recommend . If your a food snob , then it's not for you , but if you want what it is aiming at , just good fresh snacks at good prices you'll not be dissapointed .

I have popped along to Loch Leven often recently to try out my photographic skills (the less said about those the better) and I have always meant to pop in here afterwards. Up until today I have been chasing my tail by the time I got back to the car park but today I actually had time to try this out.The coffee is from a machine but of it's type it is pretty good. The bacon roll I ordered was excellent. The menu is fairly comprehensive and the pricing quite fair. It is almost opposite Loch Leven's Larder and represents a good alternative on the route around the Loch. Of the two I prefer this cafe. Bear in mind food is made as ordered so it is may take a bit of time but you have a nice view while you're waiting.

Come here often when walking and cycling around beautiful Loch Leven. The bacon and egg rolls are perfectly done with the yolk squidging out and soaking into the roll. Exactly what's required after freezing your way around the Loch. I visited twice this month and the friendly service was very welcome after the frostiness at Loch Levens Larder earlier in the day.Yes the coffee is from a machine but if that means that the staff have more time to say hello and cook up fantastic rolls then fine. I dont expect gourmet coffee and cuisine when out for a muddy walk but this friendly wee cafe is not pretending to anything other than a friendly walkers cafe. I will choose to start and finish here rather than Loch Levens Larder.

Another weekend, another cycle ride - this time around the north & east of Loch Leven. My wife and I both had coffee and a hot roll: as another reviewer has said, the coffee is from a machine, however the rolls (choice of white or brown) were excellent and fillings cooked to order. They also do a good line in burgers, baked potatoes and panini and what we saw whilst we were waiting looked very tempting. We were lucky in that a table on the terrace became free just as we arrived and we had a lovely snack in warm sunshine admiring the views. Highly recommended!

This is a great wee coffee shop. Pleasant and friendly service and lovely food. We also bought some delicious chutneys and tablet. They also sell some nice handmade jewellery and some very pretty handcrafted cards. Worth a visit whether you are doing the loch walk or not.

this is a fine place to rest up and have a break if you are walking around the loch. It.s not really a place to travel to specially for any other reason. It.s clean. Self service. No proper coffee machine (one of those awful klix machines) a few nice cakes and light bites and it does take cash cards. Clean toilets and some art and greetings cards for sale. Also a good ice cream selection. Generally though, handy but not special. They have a mobility scooter for free loan but i'm not too sure how far it could travel from here - the path to grahamstone is very steep indeed and in the other direction to vane farm there is an obstruction lying over the path. can park here at this cafe. There is a ramp up for prams and wheel chairs

Popped in here for lunch with our dog. Decent amount of choice on the lunch menu. The steak pie was steak with a pastry top, rather than the pie we expected. The omelette was tasty and the portions were large. The staff were friendly and the service was quick.

Almost 5 pounds for a cappuccino for which no order has been taken at first, for which you then have to wait more than 20 minutes, with a spoon and sugar missing and, as a highlight, a 10% service fee appears on the bill? As beautiful as it is in Gleneagles - unfortunately we didn't like it at all...

We were enjoying a nice drink in the beer garden one sunny afternoon, when a youth started shouting & swearing at us because we were English (which was funny in itself because none of us are 100% English). The locals were appalled at his behaviour & the landlord immediately ejected him, however, it cast a shadow on our visit.

Went for lunch yesterday with my parents and dog on arrival our table was clearly marked ours and there was already a bowl of water awaiting my dog I thought this was super sweet and thoughtful, the waitress we had was brilliant with my wee Jack Russell she gave him a few biscuits and attention he loved it. Service was quick and the food as always was delicious. Lovely warm welcoming place to eat out and we always choose here when we go for lunch. Great menu lots of choice.

I give up, I really do. Have stopped using the restaurant because the food is pretty poor and the staff are surly at best. This morning I wanted to purchase a food item which they have stocked for years. First young girl I asked couldn't understand what I was asking for, second one said they didn't stock it although she has served me in the past and the third one said it had sold out but they might be getting some in in a couple of weeks. Several other local people have mentioned how rude the staff were. Hospitable is not a word you can use for this place and yet years ago it used to be good on all counts.
