Popped in for a drink as we were staying in another hotel in village . Hotel being renovated just now . Looks like it will be great when finished. Loved history of the place, beautiful grand staircase. We had good chat with barman who let us try their own beer/cider made on site. Hoping to go stay there when renovations are finished.

Great welcome, super friendly staff, good drinks, light meals and great attention to our old dog, he now thinks he should get a sausage from everyone. Thank you Arthur and Gail, what a nice evening we had.

Forget my previous review from 2018. The cafe/bar is very rarely open and I doubt the hotel and brewery will ever open. Seems to open up at random times. Good luck.

This review is the same as the one for The Drummond Hotel as it is the same place. Please don't bother with this place. It could amazing but it's not. It's advertised as a brewery but it doesn't brew anything on site and as far as I am aware the draft beers are none existent. We ate here and they didn't have most of what was on the menu. The food we did have was mediocre and over priced. The staff weren't very helpful and the waitress seemed to spend most of the time sitting outside chatting. We will not use this place if we go back to St Fillans. There are much better hotel bars such as The Achray and The Four Seasons just up the road. St Fillans is a beautiful place so don't let this establishment spoil it for you. Go elsewhere.

My husband ,cairn terrier Peanut and I called in here for a drink whilst staying nearby The building has been bought by the arran brewery and apparently they will be refurbishing the hotel eventually I know what the other reviewer meant by the big dog BUT his name is slash and although huge and a bit scary at first was actually a lovely friendly dog who got on great with our diminutive cairn Would definitely recomend visiting as staff helpful and friendly Slash does tend to come to the door when it opens and he is a big dog but friendly

Was out a walk with my wife and our dog and passed this establishment and stopped of to see if they serve food. My wife opened the door to be faced with this very large dog as it ran towards my dog it was barking and gave me the fright of my life I quickly grabbed my dog back before it could attack mine. The owner was sitting at the bar and ran over to grab his dog back. The owner was actually the chef of the pub having a drink before he went into the kitchen. I don't use trip advisor but wanted to leave this as a warning to any other dog walkers.

I would agree with the other reviewers stating the staff were lovely and the pub has a nice welcoming, community atmosphere. The pub does have a menu but wasn't serving food at the time of my visit on a Sunday afternoon.

Ate here twice in a couple of days, both times the food was really good and very well priced. Would be great to see the hotel back to its former glory, the lounge and coffee shop are definitely holding their own.

Visited the coffee shop this morning the staff are very friendly and helpful. They do food up until 9pm. The bar is a good place for a couple of beers and the banter is always good fun. They do have a wide range of there own ales. But the only downside is that they don't have any lager on tap at the moment. Jamie lee/Scott are a great couple that run the bar/coffee shop. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone passing through.

We were driving West from Perth towards the Kennacraig Ferry and stopped here for lunch and to take in the sites. Its a small, but gorgeous town right on Loch Earn. The staff was friendly and made us fresh toastie's and latte's. It was a little early for a pint but it looks like a great place to stop into in the evening. We walked across the street after lunch to take in some of the sights.

Although the brewery and hotel are STILL not open and may never be, there is now a very nice couple running the lounge and coffee shop. If you're lucky it will be open and it's always brilliant to carry a pint of Arran Ale across the road to the loch.

Passing through st.fillians the other day, looking for some place to stop for coffee and food. After reading the reviews I didn’t except much, just a coffee or juice. However, we were so surprised! Not only was it a warm welcome from Gail, who was chatty but to our surprise the kitchen was also open!! We had the lovely home made pakora that was brilliant! We also had a burger. The coffee was lovely along with some nibbles like cake. Seems like the new cafe member and chef have finally turned the tables. I would definitely recommend this place. We will be returning.

Met some very friendly Scottish travelers, wanted some food to go with beer but chef was fired for being drunk. Still had a nice time but two subsequent nights we tried to go there, before 8 pm, they were already closed.

Called in here after a long walk in terrible weather and was served a beautiful coffee by a very helpful assistant. We were the only ones in but at least people are trying. Dog friendly signs up too - hope they do well.

Strange place. Sign up saying they're open. Asked for lunch. "No.". Funnily enough, they'd no customers. Oh well. We just drove on and found The Four Seasons Hotel. Lovely lunch there!

Nice staff and they try hard. It just seems like a rather hard job to get this old, formerly closed down hotel back to life.

Amazing setting right on Loch Earn, nice garden across the road, bought a coffee and tea, coffee was stone cold so went back across and told the staff member behind the counter who said that as I had asked for an americano with cold milk it would be cold ! He made me another but it was an espresso and not an americano so in the end i had to accept a filter coffee from a cona machine . When i had gone back in to tell him my coffee was cold,,no apology but it was my fault as i had asked for that and he also told me that if i spoke to him like that again he wouldn't be serving me ! Sorry that i had to tell him my coffee was cold, sadly on a lovely sunday the place was hardly buzzing with customers so maybe that's a fair reflection on lack of hospitality and customer service.

St.Fillans is a lovely place and this is a welcome addition. We just had time for coffee which was excellent. Nice Beer garden overlooking Loch Earn. They also do meals and sell their own brewery beer.

Stopped here on Saturday for a quick light lunch and it was like being transported back to the time when catering in Scotland was awful. From the sandwich part of the menu we tried to order smoked salmon baguette and ciabatta and a tuna&sweetcorn; sandwich on white. Turns out there was no smoked salmon and no ciabatta and it seems only 1 baguette.

Stopped by for soup and chunk of bread today. Nice soup, good price. Excellent service, and friendly staff. Other items on menu were pricey, e.g. £9 for a dessert.

Can’t quite figure why folks opt for Greggs, but the locals seem to love it. Greasy buns with sausage patties and hp sauce, or squished egg and cheese. Like an egg muffin but reheated meats and egg. You have to be in a big rush to choose this spot over a fast food place. It is, in fact, faster than fast food. And it’s cheap. But if you’re at a motorway service stop, go ahead in and have the full breakfast, take a little time for a decent meal.

We stayed in the adjacent "Atholl cottage" offered by the hotel. At best I'd rate the stay "okay" but only if you're not there in any cold temperatures. It was a cold week but it's not really much of an excuse when the main restaurant and lodge seemed to be heated fine. We were there with my husband and my grandparents and it was so cold in the cottage they couldn't sleep. The only room with any decent heat is the smaller bedroom and the bathroom. The living space was absolutely frozen. We sat in our winter jackets and hats despite the heating being on. The curtains at the front window cover the radiator, so your options are to let all the heat escape the radiator through the window or have your entire living space on display on one of the main roads of pitlochry. It's also to be noted the road was quite noisy throughout the night and morning, all sound comes through to the bedrooms. The carpets throughout are clearly very old, stained, and had a somewhat "sticky" feeling that you get with old carpet. Bathroom was fine, nothing to write home about. Noted that the shampoo despenser wasn't working. The kitchen had some basic supplies but no tea towels or oven glove and no baking trays of any kind for the oven. For a "self-catering cottage" it should have a few more things. There was also only 3 regular coffee sachets provided, the rest were decaf. The overall main detractor here is the heating situation in winter. It was so incredibly cold. I went to the reception to ask for any sorts of blankets and the woman working was incredulous when I said the cottage was cold (despite it being -°2 outside). She eventually went to get one additional king duvet which was appreciated but for a group of 4 not quite sufficient for all of us. It was not a pleasant start to the interaction and I was irritated at the state of the situation at that point so I decided to cut my losses and take the duvet and just deal with it for one night. If we were staying more than one night we would have moved to another hotel because it was truly unbearable for my grandparents. There is a glass backdoor with virtually no insulation - likely a major cause of the cold temperature. Overall there were a few minor things I could've let go, but I could in no way recommend this cottage to someone in its current state. The only benefit I will attribute is the central location, and the cottage comes with its own parking space (although this isn't informed upon booking). Towels and pillows were fine enough. I really recommend McKays take the comfort of guests more seriously and make some updates to the cottage if they intend to keep letting this out. It has a lot of wasted potential in its current state.
