The resturant is now closed permanantly. When open it was a great place, very interesting unusual and a place for fun. It has been closed for months now due to the recession in Britain.

Me subí algunas fotografías.

Hoping to find somewhere interesting for a last minute Sunday lunch / dinner I stumbled across LMNT on greatlittleplace.com and then did a second check here on Trip Advisor. LMNT is unusual. Who'd have thought there was a mini 'cradle of civilisation' folly in Dalston. The food is of a pretty good standard and very reasonably priced, the service brisk and unobtrusively attentive and the decor is like a set from "The Mummy". We had venison sausages, souffled potatoes, goats cheese souffle, spinach salad, duck breast, risotto and baked cod. Puddings were dark chocolate tart, raspberry creme brulee, sorbets and sticky toffee pudding. Yum. The complimentary home-made hummus was good too. As others have commented, the decor in the loos is decidedly risque - something you might want to think about if you want to take the kids along. Internet porn it isn't but nothing is left to the imagination! Would I go back? Yes most probably. It would be a great venue for a party or a dinner with a load of colleagues from work.

My wife and I were on a business trip to London last week and were staying with a daughter in Dalston, who recommended LMNT for dinner. We decided to skip starters and dive into the main course straight away. I decided on the duck en-croute which was divine served on an extremely tasty stir fry of greens whilst my wife elected for the pork chops which she enjoyed enormously. The vegetarian amongst our party selected a broad bean and pea rissotto which she enjoyed very much. We finished with a plum tarte-tatin which completed a most enjoyable meal. We were so impressed - we returned for another delightful meal a few days later.

Having visited LMNT previously, we came back on Sunday 9/3 on the tastecard deal. Sadly the place was quite empty that night, but nestled up in the higher tables near the ceiling it felt like an exclusive experience for us and our friends who we took there as a surprise. To say the place is different is an understatement. Nothing is quite Like it and we need more quirky places like this. Recommend the Beef Goulash and the Mussels. Drinks were a bit pricey but with the discount from tastecard it worked out ok.

We'd heard good things about LMNT before we visited and definitely weren't disappointed. Its certainly unique with treehouse like tables built up off ladders and egyptian themed fireplaces but the food also stands out. There is a simple menu which is brilliantly executed and friendly service (including expert climbing of the ladder to serve!) Great value with food and drinks for two of us coming to less than £40. We're going to be back very soon to take advantage in the big group table in the sky!

My boyfriend, his friend and I went to LMNT for the second time last night for my boyfriend's birthday. I booked it because they have a great value Tastecard discount of 50% off and it's within 10 minutes walk of my boyfriend's flat in Dalston. The interior is something else... Egyptian decor - it's like a cheesy theme park but in a fun way. It's so unexpected, it's a real talking point. Many of the tables are in little 'treehouses' you need to climb steps up to reach. It makes it quirky and different to look out over the rest of the diners. You can even sit above the bar in the middle, or in a giant clay pot. Cute. The staff are very friendly, and the food is not what you would expect from the decor. It's varied, with plenty of meat, fish and vegetarian options. I am a vegetarian and the food was excellent value for money and high quality. Portions are good sizes and you get free bread and home made houmous when you arrive. It's delicious, but watch out because it's very garlicky! I had a really nice risotto. The restaurant has been quite quiet on both times we have visited and I think this is a real shame. Because the location is a little off the beaten track and not close to other restaurants or bars, it doesn't get much passing custom. But people should take the trip, because it was a good night and great value.

The bland and unremarkable food was redeemed by very cheap prices (we had a Tastecard) and a novel round booth on a raised platform, shielding us from the empty restaurant. The absinthe cocktail I had was small and vile, and my fish was dry and overcooked, with over-large under-done chunks of chorizo. My friends lamb was a better choice, and the beef stew didn't seem terrible. I had hoped for a higher standard and the zany interior is not compensation enough for such an average meal.

LMNT is our favourite restaurant. It’s not easy to get to or we would go there more often. The décor is unusual – a mix of Ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman and art deco. You could be seated in an egg, in a basement alcove, on a balcony or even at a conventional table. The loos have educational frescos based on regency brothel activities. The menu is reasonably priced and varied with a decent wine list. On this occasion I had the calamari, pork belly and ice cream. They bring bread and humus for while you are waiting, but the service is pretty good.

I went here last night with my boyfriend and his mum. The food was absolutely lovely; I had mussels to start, followed by pork belly, My boyfriend had quails egg and bacon salad, followed by baked Haddock (which I tried - it was beautiful), his mum had the same starter and beef goulash. We shared the chocolate tart for afters, and a bottle of Malbec. Everyone cleared their plates. The service was swift and the staff relaxed and friendly. We sat in one of the 'tree houses' which adds a little bit of something different to the evening! The decor is a crazy mix of over the top Egyptian, Greek and Roman, with opera playing in the background, but somehow this manages to be relaxing and calming rather than off putting! It's a bit like being in a 70s inspired Bedouin tent (in a good way!) The food and wine is reasonably priced for London and the sauce on my mussels was to die for. My pork was a good size, and I gave some to my boyfriend. His fish wasn't massive, so if you have a good appetite, maybe order a side dish too. All in all I couldn't recommend this place more highly, and will certainly go again and again!

And if you are in anyway prudish, don't use the toilets, don't let your grandmother use them. Can you do that? If you are not prudish definitely go to the toilets, even if you don' use them. LMNT (element) is a Peter Ilic restaurant very close to Dalston Junction. The menu is small but varied. I ate with 3 friends on a Sunday night and I had the curried moules followed by poached smoked haddock on rosti. Filling and delicious. Starters are under a fiver and mains are GBP10.95. Portion size is good and everything is well cooked. The wines are reasonably priced and so we had a really good night out for a reasonable price. The decor is very eccentric and did remind us of Sarastro - especially with the raunchy freezes in the ladies (and gents I understand) of couples having a rather intimate time! Would be a great place for a celebration on a budget. Our meal came to GBP28 each including 2 courses, half a bottle of wine each and coffees to finish.

I went to this restaurant on a reccomendation- it truly is ' London's most eccentric dining room', as its tagline says it is! I had no idea what this restaurant was all about and was surprised to see the egyptian decor outside- in the middle of hackney. As I entered, there were people eating in little tree house type structures in the corners of the restaurant- and I notices there was also a seating area constructed above the bar. I was part of a party of 4, and so we were seated in an egg type structure, which was very cosy. The whole thing so surprising and fun- who wants to eat at an ordinary table after this?! Apart from the eccentric decor and seating arrangements- the service was very friendly and professional and the menu was very good. The food was a very high standard and reasonably priced. I had a warm goats cheese salad with pear to start and a duck en croute with a pumkin mash for mains. Everything about this restaurant was really great, and I would definately recommend this if you want something a bit different and fun!

I went to LMNT one saturday night with my husband and four friends. We love this place and have taken several groups of friends there to eat.We usually book the big urn to sit in, but because there was six of us we were given a table upstairs in a small booth. Being slightly claustrophobic, I was a bit nervous about being in such a small space, and my husband, being 6'4" found it difficult to stand, but once seated,we were fine. the one thing that's great about this place is that ll the starters, mains and desserts are set prices. They do have specials, which normally include steak. We nearlly all had the Ribeye which was cooked to perfection.Drinks here are pretty steep considering where you are, but the food was fab, as always. As mentioned the toilets are not for the faint hearted, and as also mentioned the male waiter is quite abrupt. What an interesting place. I really liked the decor, I felt like an explorer! Especially with the epic movie soundtrack that was playing. We went on a Saturday night at about 7.30 and the place was dead. We were the only table in the place. We had some cocktails each which were very well presented and mostly tasted good - I can't imagine they'd be as well presented if the place had been busy as they took so long to make. We sat in one of the ceiling pod things, and it does get pretty hot up there, so if you suffer in the heat, I wouldn't recommend it! The food on the whole was well presented, tasty and moreish- if a little unimaginative (think gastropub). The only small gripe I have (I have confit of duck) is that the cabbage this came with was quite overcooked and unpleasantly slimey. I quite enjoyed my evening, could've been a bit more lively though! It was reasonably priced for what we had.
