The One Cafe Restaurant Bar in Hackney

This place is a rip off. Firstly they charged extra for cheese on a burger which was ‘offered’ by the waitress then put on the bill @ £2! Then they gave us a glass of freshly squeezed orange when we asked for orange (for a child) and charged £5!!!!!!! The steak cost £23 and was disappointingly small like a kids portion thin and tiny. The potatoes on the plate were numbered at 6 small halves. I asked for some yogurt to go with my shish chicken (normally in Turkish restaurant I get it free) they charged for this too. Everything was over priced and small. As this was a special birthday lunch we didn’t want to make a fuss but after leaving and scrutinising the bill we were shocked at the prices and ‘extras’. The final kick in the balls was the service charge @ 10.00 Absolutely outrageous

The food was delicious. We ordered the full range of starters to share. There was more than enough to go round. Mains were fantastic.

Go here for regular coffee's during work hours. It's a botanical haven with a really nice vibe. Cute outdoor seating for people watching too.

Worst service ever. First it took them forever to take our order (bear in mind: just one coffee, one juice and scrambled eggs). Then after half an hour of wait where we would unsuccessfully try to grab grumpy staff passing by ignoring us, we went inside asking if we had to wait much longer. Just to find out that they had lost our order. The place wasn't busy so I still wonder how that's possible... Anyway the worst thing is that in all of this the staff has always been extremely rude, like they were doing us a favour by serving us. Not even an apology when after 45 minutes we left. I'd love to have those 45 minutes back and I'll be curious to know how the heck these guys are still in business.

I cannot rate this Cafe / Bar / Kitchen enough. I stumbled across this place when trying to find a place to relax, enjoy a great cup of coffee and to read a book… I keep coming back. Great atmosphere! Comfy seating, lots of greenery and plants 🪴 The staff are always so polite, welcoming and nothing it too much trouble. The toilets are amazingly clean - always!! Highly recommended!!
