Food was average but that is as good as it gets. No card machine so all payments are cash which stinks in the modern age. The landlord is rude and unwelcoming and prior to 10pm is making it clear that he wants to close up and does so at the earliest opportunity. There are much better local venues with better food, service, welcome and 21st century payment methods!

Awful food and horrendous customer service from the owner Pat. No apology for the roast potatoes that tasted frozen and the children's chips were marked to show they were over cooked and hard to eat. My daughter refused to eat her food and the Sunday lunch wasn't edible as the chicken dry and like rubber. the beef was falling apart in bits. when we complained the main cook said "well you've eaten most of the food, so it can't be that bad!" Will never make a visit to this restaurant again. very disappointing experience.

Despite a fabulous Xmas meal we were disappointed yesterday with the Sunday lunch. Beef and lamb good but chicken tough. Cauliflower cheese overdone and not very cheesy. Roast potatoes were obviously shop bought. Roasted parsnip undercooked. Gravy delicious though. Desserts just OK. Not sure we'll return for a while. Must mention how good the serving staff were though.

Absolutely gorgeous meal this afternoon. A group of 4 of us were squeezed in without a booking and the service was second to none. We were kept informed by staff throughout our visit, that there may be a short wait due to those who had arrived ahead of us. When we'd ordered, the food was served quickly and was piping hot and the lamb chops cooked perfectly! The chips are chunky and crispy and mouthwatering and portion sizes are very generous. I would definitely recommend a visit.

A party of 13 of us had pre booked the festive menu. Every aspect of the meals was delicious from starters through to dessert. The 'real' meat was plentiful and delicious. Every meal came with its own serving of gravy. There was a variety of veg and the usual trimmings. The tables were set out to celebrate the season and there were even complimentary chocolates, tangerines and mince pies. We were over the moon with the meal and the service. The value was also tremendous. Thank you Llanfabon Inn.

Popped to Llanfabon for a drink and crisps after a walk through the lanes. Lovely atmosphere outside. This was until I paid. Young lady behind the bar was on the phone, seemed as if the pub could not facilitate a table for tonight.A gentleman, what I assume to be the owner or the boss was extremely unpleasant to the lady saying no to this table with a fair few cuss words thrown out too. The young lady responded saying she was only doing what instructed to do and that there was only one other working in the restaurant today. The gentleman went and asked the young lad in the restaurant the same question to which he replied the same as the young lady. Lovely pub, it just seems that the staff are not treated as as they should be!

We came here are a party of 11, after placing our order (which took forever to place) we waited 50 minutes for the food to arrive. So when the meals arrived we were all disappointed. You could see that the fish, chips were frozen not fresh! The scampi was soggy not crunchy as all? And the 1 steak was cold! The T-bone steak was very oily and flavourless! Also when we were half way through our meal the cleaner/waitress decided to come into the conservatory and start moving tables around very loadly and when we asked why she said there was another party arriving, we had to point out that nobody would be able to sit that closely to us due to the current social distancing rules!! We had a lovely time with family but we will definitely not be back! £150 for frozen farm food meals is definitely not for us unfortunately. The Diet Coke was nice

We called into the Llanfabon Inn today for lunch knowing from their website that they had a real wood burning fireplace. It has been so cold lately so we wanted somewhere cosy. Well the welcome from Hannah was both friendly and warming just right for a first time visit. The Rev James beer and their Chardonnay were excellent accompaniments to our meals that were tasty well cooked and good value, I had half chicken my wife chose lamb shank. The pub was quiet being the beginning of the week, but apparently gets very busy toward the weekend. Perhaps booking in advance would be advisable. Went for Sunday lunch today and ordered 2 lamb and 1 beef. The gravy came out followed 1 minute later by 1 beef, then 1 minute later the veg, followed 2 minutes later by 2 lamb. On the plates were roast potatoes and a roast parsnip, stuffing and a Yorkshire pudding. The only thing that was hot were the boiled potatoes everything else was lukewarm. Desserts were then ordered, which were 1 trifle, 1 lemon cheesecake and 1 jam sponge and custard. The cheesecake portion was tiny and again the custard was lukewarm. This has been one of my favourite pubs to eat in for many years and I never usually write these sorts of reviews but I can't believe the recent experience that I had. I took my Mother to eat in the restaurant a week ago for her birthday and we had a lovely enjoyable meal in the conservatory. At the end of the meal I noticed something floating in the vinegar! 3 dead flies! I went over to the other table to look in one of the other vinegar bottles. 2 dead flies in that one too! Both me and my Mother had covered our meals in vinegar before eating them! I spoke to the waitresses about this who initially tried to say that it "was just the vinegar" until I told her to look in the bottles under the light and then she agreed that there were dead flies in the bottles. She then went to speak to the "big boss" and he didn't even come to speak to us personally or apologise! We were asked to pay for the drinks only. We left feeling incredibly sick and will not be returning.

We'd booked a large table for a joint family celebration. The only good thing about the experience was the food. The biggest portions of beautifully cooked food at a cheap price. However, the service was awful. The staff had bad attitudes, did not care and did not stick around when you had an issue. You had to actually shout to get them to stop and they'd walk off part way through you speaking to them. They served chipped plates and dishes, where part of the china had chipped into the food!! And although they swapped the plate, they were not apologetic for it. Mains were arriving across a 40minute gap, so people had finished before others had started eating. They cleared half the table, left the rest of the half eaten food and then offered us the dessert menu. We gave up waiting to be asked for our dessert order after about 40minutes and requested they come to take our order, we were kept waiting still and had to ask AGAIN. Still they were unable to serve our table properly, with desserts arriving after others had finished, and cheesecake and cream being served on a plate !?? Ridiculous! We arrived at 1pm and left about 4pm, we will not return.

Have eaten at the llanfabon countless times over the years and have always had top quality food. You always get fresh food and lots off it. My hubby always has the T-bone steak which is huge, he always manages to finish everything on his plate as it is too good to leave, even if it means he can hardly move afterwards. I love the cod and chips which is always so good. Whenever we think about going out for a meal our daughter always insists on going here as she loves it. Just came back after having a fantastic meal at The Llanfabon Inn. Had to wait a while for our meal because there were 3 parties booked in but the staff couldn't apologise enough for the wait, there was so much food on the plates that we brought our desserts home with us, very friendly staff I would recommend The Llanfabon Inn to everyone

A party of 13 went to celebrate my daughters birthday. Lovely atmosphere,They don't do starters, but with the portion sizes of the main meals you don't need it. Food was lovely, hot and large portions. Service was good, all the meals came together. Our waiter was pleasant and nothing was to much trouble. Will definitely go back.

Arrived on a Friday evening circa 8pm for dinner, table was booked prior to arrival as telephone conversation indicated they would be busy...Arrival & Service:Table reservation was hand written with name and time. Upon arrival no-one was really around to show us our table, this was done by the bar man in the manner of "theres your table". Sat down, had two drinks from the bar and proceeded to wait for approx 15minutes with no waitress service. I had to fetch my own menus, two of which were wordly completely differently with regards to what the main meals were served with.I have no issue with fetching menu's but I have issue with being left alone and not being told to get them myself. This could have been explained by the barman quite easily. The pub wasn't particularly busy to which I was previously led to believe and if it wasnt for the party of people occupying the annex it would have been relatively quiet.Food:Average pub grub. I had a curry and the other half a lasagne, both served with side salad which was decent, more than just half a tomato and a slice of lettuce. The other half enjoyed her lasagne and whilst my curry was tasty it did seem a bit pre-prepapered. Chips were the usual frozen ones. We didn't both with desert although reviews to suggest they are very good. I beleive the pub does not offer starters. Both meals came to £18 not including drinks. Drink were approx £6.30 (one pint of worth and a diet coke (pint)).The pub within the last year has had a new annex built which houses the toilets. This looks lovely outside and inside with tiled floors and walls. Money has been spent here which is good to see.The pub does not take card payments, only cash or cheque is accepted. No wifi or anywhere to charge phones/laptops that I could see, so not much good for business meetings etc.Improvements are needed, whilst the annex is a good start the website needs work along with standardising the menu/s and introducing card payments if possible.

A party of 10 went to this pub last night for a meal the young girl took our orders and then came back and said that there was only 1 cod left. So I chose ham on the bone with new potatoes and salad and my husband had the cod and the other 2 had the plaiceWhen my meal came it was with chips and onion rings with a little lettuce 1 piece of tomato and a slice of cucumber but as they didn't do starters and we had waited so long for the food I took it but only ate the meat my husband's fish looked like the ones you have in a box from Iceland and it was over cooked the batter was burnt so overall not a good experience don't think we will be returning as everyone's food wasn't very nice disappointed with the quality of the food served here

Visited here with family and friends a party of ten for a birthday celebration. The Inn was full, atmosphere good. Service was quick once the orders were taken. Meal typical British menu, not an extensive choice and no starter menu listed. However the food was served piping hot and large portions, everyone enjoyed the food. Limited choice of wine but apparently the red wine was good.Desserts were lush and good choices.Worth a try

We are regular visitors to the Llanfabon Inn. We have always had excellent quality food and like the pleasant cozy atmosphere the pub has to offer. They have a vast selection of main courses, and always have a delicious looking selection of desserts on offer. My personal recommendation is the toffee lumpy bumpy dessert.

Went here to a 50th birthday party. Been here before a year ago, since then the there has been work done to a high standard. A really homely inn log fire. The service is great the staff work well. There was about 20 in our party and we were all served in minutes. So we all ate at the same time. Very clean recommended.

I have had many Sunday lunches here. The menu is average for a Sunday lunch pub but the food is above average with portions so generous that eating a dessert is usually difficult but worth the effort!

Myself and my two colleagues called in here for a quick lunch and business chat following a meeting. I picked the place having read the reviews but failed to check whether it was a venue geared up for business lunches - it is not. That said, there was a friendly welcome and the three of us were shown to a (too small) table to have lunch. We gave up on laptops and just resigned ourselves to lunch without the aid of office paraphernalia. Quite a novelty really...We ordered a pot of tea. It was duly delivered - in three stages. 1) Pot of boiling water, 2) three teabags on a plate and 3) three mugs. I'm a bit finicky about tea, it has to be at boiling point for me. Unfortunately, the time lapse between the delivery of the ingredients made it a 'less than' cuppa for me. I routinely have far superior tea at my weekly visit to Pontypool Harvester. We decided on a smaller mean and all ordered the same thing - a toasted sandwich. I idly noted on the menu that it came with chips and onion rings. I was imagining a few token chips and a few raw onion rings (which I would have left anyway)... so when we saw the waitress staggering over with a single plate I wondered if all of our food was on the one plate together. No. This was a single massive portion. Back and forth to the kitchen she scuttled until all three plates were in situ. We surveyed...The portions are GIGANTIC. The bloomer sandwiches were very well filled and would have been quite enough on their own. Half the plate was piled with chips and the promised salad was employed as 'bedding' for the sandwich. Two half tomatoes wobbled precariously as the sides of each of the plates. The food was delicious but there was just too much. If there is a Rugby team looking for an ample snack to re-load the calories after that brilliant win, well - this is the place for you.I'm giving the pub four stars because:a) They were winding down lunch service and did accommodate us and our particular requirements.b) The food was well made and very generous.I've left off one point because:c) It's not the easiest venue to find.d) It's far more casual than advertised (no plugs, WIFI or anything else a business traveller might need)e) The staff seemed a bit 'out of sorts'; perhaps it was just us, we unnerved them maybe?Overall, I would return but for a casual lunch with friends/partners - but not colleagues.

Basic even though the menu is very large. The steak was well done although i ordered it when asked at the bar as medium rare, the chips were a very small portion. Quite expensive for 3 starters, 3 mains & 3 desserts with 6 soft drinks coming in at over £85. Odd parking which you have to pay for then get refunded one you've bought a drink or meal in the pub, plenty of parking though is available. Roomy inside & comfortable, clean toilets.

This was not our first visit, unfortunatly we were not impressed this time,I could not fault food at all. We ordered the beef and requested horseradish sauce, they had run out!! we then ordered coffee which was only instant coffee, the coffee machine was out of order,we were,nt informed of this until it arrived, and was presented with 1/4 of a tea spoon of suger, and was told thats all they had, after complaining that we could not drink it like that some was found. We found the pub very cold to the point of being uncomfortable. Very disappointing.

The best breakfast I've had in a long time. The added bonus was that I caught a glimpse of the red headed hottie walking upstairs with a plant in his hand! Does he work in your cafe, if not he really should, he'd bring the ladies in!

Superb Sunday lunch excellent service as they were catering for 240 people for Sunday Lunch. Ample proportions , prices reasonable. Only one small thing the plates were too small for quantity of food, but the manager told me they have ordered bigger plates
