Lizhi in Wigan

First time dining here last night. Food and service was exceptional. Really impressed.

Pricey. But a lovely meal out as a family. Sat for a beer outside - Beavertown neck oil tastes better in sunshine ! Booked table for 730. Service excellent throughout. Starters were good - gyoza v tasty. Squid nice and fresh. Honey ribs were tender and full of flavour. Spring rolls nice and crispy. I had the Korean chicken main which was a real burst of flavour. Sweet and sour from daughter was excellent as well. Wife loved her fish dish. Noodles with bean sprouts a real hit. All washed down with tiger beer. And a bonus bun for the near birthday girl !

The decor is good, but the food is pretty much takeaway standard, not restaurant standard. I've only eaten here twice with friends and have been extremely disappointed both times. 1st time I was given the wrong meal and they did nothing to compensate, I was just left without a meal! 2nd time had Pad Thai, which was nothing like the dish should be. Bland, lacking usual ingredients. Tasting other people's choices, were all very standard at best, but nothing of quality. I can't honestly ever recommend this place to anyone unfortunately.

Nice looking place (lighting a bit low?) Food which is main thing and was excellent 👌. Best for me was the prawn toast ( real prawns on there) we had the banquet which was good but the fillet beef main was very sweat and wished we asked to change if possible. Party of 9 for birthday ....beer was not so good....

I came here last night with my partner for our anniversary meal and can i just say wow! The food was absolutely divine and super hot and fresh. The service was efficient and all the waiters and waitresses were super lovely. The bill came to what i think was very reasonable for the quality of food we received. I am looking forward to coming back! Also there were two ladies on separate tables celebrating their birthday there and the waiter brought over cake and had the whole restaurant sing which was so nice.

Birthday Celebration. Everything was perfect. Very attentive staff, timely drinks & food service; we were not waiting for an age at all. Food was perfect for everyone. The price was very good too. The best place at The Point by far. Thank you.

Wow! THE best meal we have ever had, everything was just perfect, the food, the service, the atmosphere, the venue, 2 adults and 2 children (aged 10) visited, we were warmly greeted by front of house, service was very friendly and timely, we ordered a variety of starters, mains and sides and EVERYTHING was just perfect, well cooked, well spiced and seasoned, it was our children's first real try of Asian cuisine and they loved everything, as did us adults. We would recommend this restaurant without any hesitation, and will be returning ASAP. Thank you all all the staff for a truly wonderful evening. AMAZING!

Been here a few times and the food is good. There’s still so much I would love to try ! Chinese food isn’t one of my go to’s really but I do enjoy it, I just tend to prefer other genres. I do love starters and these were lovely.

Takeaway mistake We are regular customers eating in and ordering takeaways . Just ordered a takeaway went to collect it as I returned home literally pulled on the drive ten mins drive away received a call to say you had forgotten to put one of the dishes In the order ( one of the main meals ) . I asked if someone could bring it as it is ten min drive for us to get back so another 20 min round trip . No delivery drivers so no choice other than to go back would have been nice to have been offered a partial refund especially for the missed item or some form of compensation. Instead all the food has gone cold sat at home whilst we have had travel back to collect it . Spending over £120 on a takeaway for it all to be cold and need reheating is not good enough . I know mistakes happen but it’s how they are rectified that counts ! Very disappointed and won’t be ordering again .

Amazing food and service ..interior is modern and well laid out ..the food was gorgeous .Will be back . Only downside was parking as I don't think the car park is large enough for the premises ..however we did go at peak time

We came here on a Friday night in December after making a reservation online and were more than looked after. The menu has a tantalising mix of different East Asian cuisine delights and a children's menu for the fussy little ones. We were impressed with the tentative staff and very happy when our food arrived! Its exciting to see various dishes from all over East Asia, so if you fancy Japanese, Thai, Singapore or Chinese, its all here! The wine menu was extensive too and all in all we had a great evening. I don't think there is a better Asian restaurant in the area and we are lucky to have it in Astley.

The staff are great, friendly and attentive. Location is what it is.. views of the Eats Lancs Rd (A580). Food:- Don't expect this to outclass your local takeaway.. it won't. The chicken skewers had a greasy wet texture and looked almost raw, if you closed your eyes, you'd swear you was eating squid. I followed this starter with chicken in curry sauce... I'll be honest... all my local chippy take aways are better. I found my pallet just got bored very early on in the meal. As I say, the staff were lovely and attentive however unfortunately I shall not return or recommend. It's ok, and appears clean and the chips were ok.

Came here on a Tuesday night, staff were so attentive and lovely. The food was to die for! Would definitely return and recommend. Particularly the Lizhi starter 😍😍

Look nowhere else - this place is simply the best. Family run with impeccable attention to detail. Incredibly friendly staff and very welcoming. Food on another level. Outstanding

This was a special meal, to celebrate my wife's birthday, and we went with two friends. Bring special, we decided on the banquet. Portions were generous. Service was fantastic - very attentive without being intrusive, and quick to react and help when somebody in the party (not saying who) knocked over a cup of China Tea. It felt like the staff were happy to be there, and keen to keep you happy. No rush either, as they were happy to wait as long as we wanted between courses. I would definitely go again, but probably only for special occasions due to budget restrictions.

Restaurant spoiled by parking, no space on the car park. No warning displayed in the restaurant to say do not park on the road. Visited on a Friday evening and I parked on the road where there were no double yellow lines, along with three other vehicles in our party. No visible signs advising of parking restrictions. We all came out to parking tickets. Will definitely not revisit the restaurant or Ashley Point!

Great food, and nice place to eat.

The food here is excellent, however one star awarded for the terrible service which we encountered on the 14/01/23 😒 When I booked by phone, they took my credit card details in case we didn’t show up (when I personally would never do) and said they’d take £20 per person if we didn’t show. We arrived a couple of minutes early & was told our table wasn’t ready so have a drink in the waiting area, which we did. We were shown to our table about 20 mins late. We then sat at the table and nobody came over to ask if we wanted any drinks or to take our food order. We went to the bar ourselves to order drinks, twice! I don’t know if they’re short staffed but the waiters aren’t attentive, which they should be at the prices they charge! It was an hour later later when we actually got food! Bit of a piss take when they’d been so strict about the not turning up policy!! The service overall was abysmal, the guy that eventually came over said he was the only one who could take orders, due to allergies, but he never even asked us if anyone had allergies! I mentioned the time we’d been waiting and the guy who took our order said he’d had problems with people vacating their tables on time. It was an absolute shambles, no apology or anything. This was my birthday night out but none of the staff seemed interested that the service was rubbish! I wouldn’t mind but it’s Astley, and they are charging Manchester prices for a below average service! Such a shame as the food is lovely, but when you’re paying those prices, I’m not willing to put up with such terrible service! Avoid!! You may as well go in to Manchester and get better service as the prices are the same!!

Been on 4 separate occasions and its always amazing. Food, service and everything is fantastic. Ignore some of the idiots reviews on here complaining about price etc probably because they usually go 2 for 1 pubs tight arse!

Lovely Chinese but… asked for a dish that wasn’t on the menu, it was just an omelette & they decided to change £11.50 for the privilege, I would go again but won’t be ordering this dish if this is what they charge. Not really fair

So we booked through open table which was easy enough not alot of times available so had a late time however when we got there the place was pretty empty. The team were polite some seemed new but they were still professional and were efficient. The food was great we really enjoyed it .its is a shame because unfortunately even with all that we won't return the parking available for astley point is tiny to what they need everyone was fighting for a spot. spots being made up ,we parked on the road coming down no yellow lines not seeing the small sign saying please don't park and recived a ticket .advice to any guest reading get an uber there really is no.were to park god knows what its like when the places are busy because it was quiet in all areas.

Excellent decor and fast service. Glasswear and silver ware were sparkling. Food was absolutely amazing and served hot and fresh. Staff were so friendly and helpful. One of the best Chinese meals i have ever had.

The dining area is very comfortable, service good and food, the only issue with the food it was not hot, l mentioned this after my starter and the main course was the same, probably not rush back because they did not seem concerned on my comments.

We went here for an evening meal with some friends. Four of us ordered the set meal and a couple of bottles of wine. The food was really nice and we all enjoyed the courses. Would definitely recommend and return.

Amazing modern venue, very pleasant staff. I suggest you check the menu online first as there isn't a huge choice and be warned you'll be expected to pay a service charge.

First visit to this restaurant, very disappointed Food cold, sent it back. came back it was just warm, half of the party didn’t eat the meals. wouldn’t go again & definitely wouldn’t recommend, 🤷‍♀️

My title says it all really. 2 of us went and got a starter each, main each, prawn crackers and 2 drinks and it was £80. Well that includes the service charge of 10% that they add to every bill. Food was nice, don't get me wrong but didn't think it was anything special for the price. A portion of prawn crackers costs £4.30! Sadly we won't be back.

Really average & bland Chinese food that is over priced for what it is. Go to Wings in the Arndale & save yourself a fortune. Go to Pacifica Eccles or The Tung Fong Worsley. Go to Pearl City Chinatown!! Don’t go to Lizhi if you are a foodie as you will be left out of pocket & disappointed

Nicest Chinese I’ve ever eaten in my life, the food was out of this world. Yes, it’s pricy, but 100% worth it. Every course was delicious in flavour and the texture and quality of the meat cuts were second to none. Really looking forward to my tea tomorrow which is our leftovers from tonight which the staff boxed up for us. All the staff were super attentive and really helpful and friendly, couldn’t fault them. I’m not sure if the manager has changed since previous reviews, or if there are multiple managers, but the manager tonight was most helpful and friendly and incredibly accommodating of our requirement to switch out the fish dishes in the banquet due to dietary requirements. Will definitely be going back!

One of the nicest meals I’ve had. Setting was absolutely beautiful and got to watch the sunset. I ordered the chicken wings with firecracker sauce for starter and spicy chicken udon noodles for main. Can’t beat a good chinese udon Cocktail was amazing too.

Went last night for my birthday meal. We had a table booked for 12 people which we got on time but they only gave us 2 hours for have a 3 course meal with drinks. Might be ok for smaller numbers but not 12. Starters came out at 18:45 and they started cleaning up as soon as you put the last bit of food in your mouth. Main meals however didn't come out till 19:35 so didn't understand the rush. Surprisingly some of the kids where still eating but they brought the bill over. I sent it back and told them we hadn't finished and everyone wanted a desert. We did end up getting a desert for most of the table. They brought the bill over again, by this time it was around 20:25 as the next sitting was waiting for the table. We hadn't even finished our desert or drinks and they started taking them away which I thought was really rude. Maybe next time, extend the table time or pre-order might be the best way. Food was good though even though it felt really rushed.

Average nothing special modern music Really in a Chinese restaurant & modern black uniforms. Expensive service charge. There is a large parking area, But forget it,it is packed early & they Selfishly park in all the disabled spaces , on the Kirbs , double yellow lines, take all the footpaths outside. We’re are all the tow trucks & parking attendants they would make tons of money. Would we go again definitely not, even if we had to walk there.

Recommend for a really nice Chinese experience Better than you're average Chinese that's for sure

Came here yesterday on the off chance getting a table which we luckily manage to get one for 1& 1/2 hours. ( as they were fully booked ) First impression decor was stunning, modern & tasteful. Staff smiling and friendly upon arrival. (which is so important in the restaurant game) We were seated and offered drinks within 5 minutes. We ordered a soup each and then went for the combo for 2. Myself, I don’t particularly like Chinese food, but honestly, it was just impressively stunning. From presentation, to taste, to even the food being served HOT! We had taken the mains home as there was just no way we could of eaten this as well. The 10%service charge should be optional on the bill as I would much prefer my choice in Service Tips. However, for a place like this on our door step is fantastic and it’s crazy that 4 years later we’ve only just discovered it. We cannot wait to get back and dine with you. 🥂

I highly recommend! By far the best Chinese restaurant in the area! All the staff a really friendly, the restaurant has a very high end authentic feel and the food is outstanding. Always top of the list for special occasions.

Appalling to say the least, after visiting this ‘restaurant’ with my partner I was met with severe stomach ache and projectile vomiting after eating there mixed seafood salt and chilli. I spent the early hours of the next morning hugging my toilet whilst producing a lime green stomach bile. I have now missed 3 days of work due to having no appetite and having no strength to even move out of bed. We are regular customers but this time they got it very WRONG. The way it was dealt with was absolutely shocking, I was met with a very sarcastic and unhelpful woman who had no interest in maintaining a relationship with her customers, I think maybe some training is in order for the front of house staff as her tone and communication skills are terrible and this has forced me to make this review. I was told to get a doctors note to support that I had been poisoned (who in this day and age can get seen by there dr the same day as calling). I will 100% not be recommending this place to anyone that I know, even after spending well over £1000 with them in the past as they are to ignorant and delusional to understand that even THEY can make mistakes, the same as the rest of us.

Very very disappointed in the service me and my partner received. As a regular customer at this restaurant for both eating in and takeaway I couldn’t be more angry! We went in for a nice relaxed meal on sunday (had the salt and pepper seafood platter) and left, however a couple of hours later me and my partner both began feeling very sick and poorly. We both got struck with severe sickness which went into the early hours of the morning and we both still haven’t been right since. Obviously food poisoning as we both hadn’t eaten the same food apart from at the restaurant. We both still have no appetite and are struggling to keep food down. This should NOT be happening at a so called five star restaurant. We called the restaurant to put in a complaint just to ensure no one else got sick from their food. However we was met with very rude and impolite staff members which shut our complaint down very quickly and kept talking over us on the phone. Appalling customer service for a five star restaurant!! We will 100% not be visiting this place again and not recommending it to any of our friends and family. I have been forced to write this review as obviously the restaurant are not taking it very seriously.

Our favourite local Chinese restaurant in terms of quality of food, but also a nice ambience to the restaurant. A little pricier than some, but the food really is worth it and is always served piping hot. Never had a disappointing meal here, wouldn't hesitate to recommend!

Big thanks to Peter and family at lizhi restaurant, had my 60th night out with some family members, food, service, and all staff were excellent. I would highly recommend, no doubt we’ll be going back, brilliant Restaurant and great atmosphere.

Good service with attentive staff. Food was very good and well presented, the teens enjoyed the half duck. The prawn toast was a stand-out starter and the fillet steak Cantonese was the stand out main. It was a £££/££££ price range but it was a exam celebration. I would recommend it and go again.

Booked a meal at Lizhi Astley Point for a treat. Arrived early but the car park was full. There are several restaurants so it can be tricky to get a spot. After driving around for a bit, a space became available, but I advise you go early. Inside, the Italian restaurant downstairs was busy and had live music but Lizhi is on the 1st floor. The staff inside were very welcoming and attentive. We were sat in a booth so it felt very exclusive. We started with cocktails and mixed starters. They were beautilly cooked and presented. The waiter asked it we would like a break between courses which we did. The main courses arrived and were presented on large platters. The whole dining experience was lovely. The meal was slightly more expensive than other similar restaurants but definitely worth it.

Every dish was beautifully presented and delicious. The service was exceptional, lovely decor and a superb atmosphere.

The service was really good, the staff made sure we were okay and the restaurant has a really beautiful atmosphere for a nice dinner. The food is definitely worth the money and the wings were really good and enough for 1 person. The serving size was very satisfying. The egg fried rice and noodles dishes were very tasty and my friends loved their ribs a lottt. The cocktails and drinks were good. Definitely recommend this restaurant and would go back again.

Just had a takeaway meal, its the first time we've been. Absolutely beautiful, squid, peking ribs, sweet and sour pork and fillet steak in a teriyaki sauce. The food is second to none. This place is equal to any resteraunt in Manchester if not better, looking forward to eating in.

Really disappointing experience given the Google reviews. We ordered a takeaway and the food was cold upon arrival. Unfortunately our meals still tasted poor once they had been heated. The chicken was far too chewy, the sweet and sour sauce wasn't pleasant and the rice/chips sides were both below average. One of the worst takeaways I've had in a long time.

Had a takeaway on NYE. Live locally and struggled to find our favourite Chinese restaurant but this is by far the nee favourite. It’s more expensive but definitely worth it for the quality. Can’t wait to visit again when the restaurant reopens 😆

Had takeaway last night, chicken satay skewers starters - dry with ver little sauce. Scallop dumplings- good. Chicken curry- awful- curry insipid and just consisted of onions with little chicken. King prawn n ginger and spring onion- again just full of onion- prawns ok- very little ginger. Chicken fried rice ok ish. Shame- google reviews suggested it would be much better.

Another birthday meal here and the food was amazing. Good crackers to start. Mixed steamed starter with Sui mi and Haa Kau. Gorgeous ribs as well. Then honey chilli chicken as main with nice noodles. Beautiful tasting and nicely done. Slight issue with service - money got messed up a bit but we were refunded properly. Warning that this isn’t cheap. But a nice treat !

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE OFF STAFF: The staff in the white jumper was extremely rude. He walks round thinking he owns it, no, Betfred in partnership does. He did not follow Covid social distancing rules, yet made us all read the sign and he took his mask off. I ordered off a separate Veg menu and they bought me non-veg noodles! The man said “you ordered noodles”. Yes I DID BUT on the Veg menu. I am mortified about him 1. Accusing me of ordering something I didn’t, 2. His poor attitude. It is disgusting. If it was not for me asking if the noodles were vegan, I would have been ill. A lot of my friends who have been here have complained about him too. They also got our receipts wrong and muddled them up. However, they took a few items off. The other woman he worked with was very rude, not allowing a baby to leave her seat and stand next to her table. However, the ginger waitress and the other waitress we had were very nice, I feel sorry for her working with this poor group of staff.Food: The food was delicious. So much variety, but rather expensive.It is a shame as the food was 5*, but customer service was 1*.

Went there for a birthday meal for my daughter. Was temperature checked when we went in so good safety there. Nicely seated and the table was spacious enough for us all. One of us had an egg intolerance so the waiter stated there may be egg products in some items on the menu. He went further and asked the chef if there were any other products that had egg in them. The waiter listed them all to us and advised best dishes for what we could have. His service skills were very good with us. Food was fresh hot and tasty. Especially tasty was the firecracker chicken if you like a bit of spice. A lovely clean place. Its not the cheapest place but quality wise it was worth it. We will be going again.

Made the most of the eat out to help out scheme. Portions were very generous. Starters and mains included. Staff really welcoming and friendly. Environment was very hygienic and clean: Covid measures well executed. Will definitely return.

Went on Saturday 12th September lovely restaurant greeted and temperature taken then name and phone number as per Covid rules.We then went to the table and the order was taken by a very polite young man.All of the staff were pleasant and polite the food and service was excellent we will definitely be going again

I visited on Saturday night with two friends, and arrived to find the restaurant quite quiet. We were seated by a man who took our drink order, and whom we later deduced to be the only member of staff in possession of an ounce of courtesy or customer service capability. We ordered our food which arrived in a timely fashion, however, having visited Lizhi on multiple occasions prior and usually ordering the same dish, it was noticeable that something with the food had changed.We finished our food, the table was cleared, and we remained with our drinks. As the restaurant was practically empty, we decided to stay and order some cocktails. We waited for around half an hour - during which time we were subjected to, for reasons we could not fathom, very nasty looks and apparent sniggering from some young staff members - before we were eventually approached and asked if we needed anything else, at which point despite feeling extremely uncomfortable we ordered one cocktail each. Our cocktails arrived and it was now around 9 o'clock. We had been at our table for three hours, which we were aware was a long time for one sitting, but as the place was deserted we couldn’t see what inconvenience it could possibly cause them for us to stay and have another cocktail. Within minutes of receiving our drinks (it was after 9:30 by this point), we were approached again to be told that they needed the table back. We were surrounded by empty tables and not a soul was waiting to be seated as far as we could see, so this rather pointedly fabricated excuse to attempt to induce us to leave only added to our discomfort. Overall it was an extremely odd experience, which I would liken more to dining in a school cafeteria surrounded by sniggering bullies than to a somewhat reputable establishment. This said, my friend’s birthday was very nearly spoiled by the experience, and I will definitely not be returning.It's nice to be nice, and if as a service staff member you are struggling to conduct yourself with the most basic courtesy, then I would suggest seeking employment that does not involve dealing with customers in a hospitality environment.If you’re looking for a good Chinese in the area, I would strongly suggest you give Lizhi a miss and instead give Tung Fong in Worsley a try!

Decided to try here after hearing many good reviews. The Lizhi is at Astley Point where the parking is plentiful and the facilities are modern and clean. The restaurant is modern and spacious and has implemented the necessary COVID recommendations satisfactorily. The food was delicious. We had the banquet for two priced at £30 pp. Each course was lovely and plentiful. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We will be back. Great place.

Came here with a friend post lockdown. Social distancing was good tables well spaced out. The food was exceptional. Really really good. It isn’t the cheapest Chinese experience but there are no complaints from me as the food is always perfect! Love it.

Needed to review this lovely place. Quality food in a spacious modern restaurant. Always consistently good, with flavoursome dishes and top standard ingredients. Great menu and lovely friendly service. Will just keep going.
