Wallgate Chippy in Wigan

Food was undercooked in some places

Delivery said 15-30 minutes, it came an hour after ordering, the food wasn’t great, there was egg shells in the rice I couldn’t eat it, won’t be ordering again.

Always a great choice on a huge menu, but sadly their chips have gone down hill badly over recent times, fairly consistently poor too, often burnt and warmed up. Shame.

Chips were soggy, extremely small portions. Very poor quality

Didnt get some of my order and when I called Wallgate they didn’t even say sorry and just told me to request a refund via the app. So late it was cold.

Halloumi kebab had plenty of halloumi but it had an off taste from the oil that it was fried in, like the oil needed changing. Also not much salad in the kebab. Chips were very small, slightly undercooked and had the same off flavour as the halloumi.

Well cooked and very good value. our favourite chippy.

food is usually great but tonight it was only just warm. my delivery time went from 18:35 to 19:09- not very happy this time

The fish was dry as a bone didn't enjoy the meal 1 bit

One portion of chips was missing so my meals was just fish and peas but there's no option to have the missing item delivered, just a refund which is disappointing. The food itself is nice though.

Sausage dinner was missing called the restaurant and they acknowledged this and asked me to request a refund, this has been declined despite them confirming it was missing and that they where to busy to send it out and asked me to request the refund! Won’t be ordering here again! Shocking service.

Ordered on Uber Eats. The Fish was ok. But the chips and steak puddings were absolutely grim. Soggy and tasteless. That night I had terrible sickness and diarrhea. I will not be going back.

Just had the most delicious chicken kebab from wallgate chippy.. everything was fresh and tasty. I ordered ahead so it was ready when I got there. The staff were lovely too

always use wall gate chippy when we fancy a chippy tea as the food and delivery times have always been really good although we have experienced missing items on our last 2 orders other than that really good chippy.

My food never arrived and with no phone number to contact the restaurant I’ve just been charged for my food with no way of asking where it is

Chips where cold and nearly delivered next door

Staff are very untrained and the male cook was extremely rude to them pressuring them, shouting abuse at them while customers were in the shop, very unprofessional behaviour. The young male that served me was rude severing other people behind me while I was waiting in the queue, my food order was rushed and made incorrect, asked for a receipt and was ignored. Shocking service, cook had a disgusting attitude to staff and staff were relaying it into the customers. Absolutely unacceptable.

got the notification to say food was on its way, but driver seemed to go somewhere else to deliver before dropping our food off 30 minutes after they left the restaurant and the food was only just warm once we opened it

Arrived lukewarm and the children’s meals boxes were squashed. Had to be re-heated and it was very, very greasy. The smacks were very dry. Not ordered in a while, won’t be bothering again.

Just thought we'd drop in for a chippy tea after a very long day to meet the worst service from Clare So rude , shouting at us for not knowing to order fish, then she got our order wrong she went absolutely ballistic . Thankfully the lovely manger just took the extra money owing and sorted it all out without any fuss. Feel so stressed without any fault of our own. Clare needs to take a break.

First time visiting and must say we were very pleased, warm friendly and welcoming service from the staff, food was delicious and the chippy was spotlessly clean. We will definitely be returning and look forward to trying more from the menu. Return visit was just as good, food is great and good portions. More pics added.

3 times I have gone in there for a pie dinner and 3 times they have forgot something, unfortunately I collect it to take home so it's to late, this time it's the peas, the time before was the gravy and the time before that it was the peas again

My son has been pooley just fancied a small fish dinner he really enjoyed it i did notice as i get the large fish the small fish was quite rubbery and dry when i cut it for him big diff in quality to the £11 large cod he still enjoyed tho

kept pushing delivery time back and back ended up 45mins+ from original time given and food wasn't that great either!

It was saying that driver was at the restaurant but when i rang he wasnt there he has so called been there for 40minutes but was nowhere to be seen and when food finally turned up it was freezing

When you have to make more gravy then it says it all. Birthday treat and very disappointing. The gravy barely covered a quarter of the plate never mind the food alone. Always enjoy ordering from here which is why I suggested it when my partner said choose something for your birthday meal. Annoyed and disappointed big time.

i’m the biggest wallgate chippy fan! i wouldn’t have gotten through a-levels without this gem!!! food is literally unmatched, my personal favourite was nuggets and chips, but it was always amazing! the staff were friendly and helpful always and they always remembered my order!! thank you to wallgate chippy LOVE YOU

When the order eventually arrived it was freezing cold

Could have been better, nuggets was very greasy and tasted of other things fried in the oil, expensive chippy meal for what you get, but can’t fault the way things was packed

I'm absolutely gutted use to love going to this chippy every Friday night I was in for fish, chips n mushy peas unfortunately that won't be happening anymore went In today and the food unfortunately was horrible. Batter on the fish was abit soggy but I can deal with that, chips weren't cooked enough unlike the scallops that I think was cooked yesterday and left in the heater overnight for that extra Crispyness that definitely wasn't needed.

Out of towner trying as work has placed me here. Was amazed at the menu and the Scottish items so had to order. Wasn't disappointed

Food was pretty good, some chips over cooked. Unfortunately we was missing 1 item (gravy) from our order, I didn't report this as by the time it would of arrived we would of finished eating. This isn't the 1st time part of our order has been missing. I think staff need to double check orders more carefully before the courier collects.

the quality was perfection, I even like the small detail in quality when buying the fish bites they added onions and flavourings in the box the ensure that extra bit of a treat 👌👌👌 small details matter

The food looked good and always has been previously, however the delivery took over an hour from leaving the Chippy and so was cold and inedible by the time it arrived.

Synonymity with squalid conditions as a result of Orwell’s state-of-the-nation sojourn causes some to give Wigan a wide berth. I’m chuffed that I happened to be passing through. What a find this place is. Value, taste, selection, service and setting are all absolutely top-notch. Won’t forget that crunchy batter for a while. Deserves a higher rating.

Delivery always 45 to60 mins late when ordering online always account for it to be late/late

food still ain't turned up was meant to be delivered for 20:25 it's now 21:01 the food got paid for so just again just eat has ripped me right off
