Little Petra in Cambridge

This was a lovely experience. The restaurant was packed out (it was a Saturday eve) so book in advance! Well worth it! Despite this the staff were attentive and polite and worth a tip! I had the tagine with lamb, which was a beautiful rich stew with succulent meat and delicious gravy! Aubergine and peppers were the co-stars of this slow cooked delight. Generous with the portions, sides and rice and the bread was soft, fresh and absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend eating here if you can. Gluten free, vegetarian and vegan friendly. Lots to choose from. They also serve fresh juices which come in pint portions too. Perfect evening.

Honestly the food was fantastic. Staff were very welcoming and nice. The decoration of the place is very cool and the atmosphere overall is welcoming.The food price is really good compared to the quality and the portion. We were a group of 2 and we payed £45 pounds for a starter and 2 main dishes. They also serve complimentary dates & yoghurt drink at the beginning which is really nice. Overall I enjoyed the experience! I totally recommend Little Petra

Best restaurant in Cambridge. The Fatteh is so big and delicious!

The food is good in general, with the exception of the SPICY HUMMUS, which turns out to be RIDICULOUSLY SPICY. Don’t try unless you are very used to highly spicy food.

Our first visit to this restaurant and a very pleasant one. We had a very delisious lunch ( a nice size portion and reasonable price ). Very clean place , great service and atmosphere. We would certainly come back when in Cambridge . Thank you !!

What a fantastic place. Hard to get anyone to understand you when ordering, but friendly all the same, Sadly the food gave us both a terrible upset stomach. Unfortunately there is no phone number to call them on to discus. I will still give 4* overall :)

We visited for a family birthday on a Sunday lunchtime (pre-booked). The food was fantastic and very good value. It was very busy but it did not take long to get served and we all enjoyed a fantastic mixed meze starter and some vegetarian and fish main dishes. During our visit a customer was unwell and we saw the team go above and beyond to support the customer, calling for medical assistance, offering bottles of water and even calling them a taxi home once they recovered. We were really impressed by the team's caring and thoughtful response in the middle of a very busy Sunday service. A really great team of lovely people serving fabulous food. Great to see and we look forward to visiting again soon :)

Buzzing family owned restaurant serving delicious, authentic Jordanian food. I'd recommend booking in advance, and it's very popular! We loved the hummus and lamb mezze, and the raheb. Unfortunately, we didn't try any of the mains, but they looked incredible. What a little gem in Cambridge!

Simple review really, fantastic place for an excellent dinner. Lovely service, price is reasonable, and food is delicious. Lamb shank, king prawns and the falafel are all brilliant.

Came here on the weekend and the food was fantastic! Portion sizes were generous and great value for money. I had the mix grill which I would highly recommend. I am a massive advocate of spending cash over card. The fact this business encourages you to spend cash (use it or lose it) for a discount on the meal is a brilliant incentive. We will definitely be coming back thankyou!

The restaurant is quite busy, making it hard to hear my friends. I had the lamb shank, but it wasn’t cooked properly. The tongue dish was absolutely delicious, though it tends to sell out quickly.

Food portions are HUGE and extremely tasty. We went for lunch and would recommend the mixed shawarma wrap with fries (you get salad inside the wrap) and the Baklava is worth taking home. The only small thing is the second room needs better heating, it was a bit chilly! Thankfully the food was so good it distracted us from that. Also love the 10% off if you pay cash!! Worth knowing, we did not so paid card.

AVOID. 100% waste of money. Ordered foul medames for takeaway. Container was half full, no cutlery or napkins provided, and all they’ve done is heat up a tin of 99p beans. No spices, none of the usual toppings like onion, garlic, tomatoes, tahini, and served with only 1 miniscule flake of parsley on top. Just a ton of oil on top, for £8. The side of pickles was so overly salted that they were inedible. This is an absolute joke and an insult to the quality of this dish in other casual Middle Eastern restaurants. They’re clearly happy to rip off people who don’t know better in Cambridge. “I assure you our food is amazing” said the waitress - what a scam this place is.

my boyfriend and i enjoyed our lunch here - we got the mixed mezze which came with warm pitta bread and pickles! it was super flavourful and delicious. for main course we got the chicken shawarma and lamb kofta which again was juicy and rich in flavour and such a big portion! will definitely come back!

Surprisingly bad-tasting food. It looks great but the lentil soup was just off. The bagaganoush was also flavourless and the pita bread was served cold!

We persuaded our dad for this resturant we drove all the way from London to Cambridge.The food was tastless.Main meal (shawarma) was served on top of rice and salad was put on the top which made everything soggy. We ordered 3 coyrses. Lamb shawarma was very smelly. At the end we wanted to go for desert and the tea but mum was so dissapointed and told us not to spend a single penny in the resturant. Something thing which we will remember is the good ambiance of the restutant. Service/staff was friendly. The lady at the register didn't bother to ask for any feedback.

The food is simply outstanding, packed with flavour and absolutely delicious! The staff are exceptionally friendly and kind. A bonus: the bathroom is impeccably clean.

I think it was a Middle Eastern Yemeni dish. I ate something like chicken pilaf. It has a lot of volume. The taste is also delicious.

Amazing (+cheap) food and service! Visited Little Petra a few times and their service never disappoints, staff are very efficient. Highly recommend the Hummus, Grilled Sea Bass & Dessert! Even if you were to randomly pick something off the menu, it will definitely be good 😊

We did not have a reservation on a Friday evening(not recommended). They were still able to squeeze us in. They said ONE HOUR ONLY! For that one hour we got a window table! They were extremely polite when reminding us of the time limit. Our food was exceptional. Thank you

When the food came it looked absolutely amazing but unfortunately it lacked so much flavour. I ordered the mixed meze and the chicken livers and my husband got the slow cooked lamb. Everything was super bland and inedible. The best part was the seasoned chips. Service was top notch. It’s a shame we paid £48 for a meal that was hardly eaten.

Service was good, food came out pretty quick, i ordered the marinated lamb and my wife ordered mixed meze and chicken livers. Food was very bland we tried to eat as much as we could but couldn't, very disappointing as it did look great. Best thing were the seasoned fries.

I had a short but a very fulfilling dining experience with the Arabic/jordanian cuisine of mussaka & lamb at this lovely themed restaurant. The food was very authentic, non spicy with big portions for even one person, very hospitable staff and impromptu service, highly recommend!!!

Picked to ho to this beautiful Arabic restaurant on a Tuesday night...walked in and the place is kicking! What an atmosphere! Then we order and the food was outstanding! Also the Jordanian house wine is fantastic ...a great venue and well deserved awards...I hope you open others in other cities soon! Lincoln would be nice please too!! 😍

I came here without booking. Big mistake! Definitely book! This place is popular for good reason and always busy! When I came back, with booked table, I was overwhelmed by how good the food was. Delightful staff, lovely relaxed atmosphere, but my god, the food. The food!! If you like colours, flavours and textures, you can't do better than this. I had marinated lamb tongue and I am a bit upset I can't eat it every day until I die.

A really pleasant dining experience. Great hosts and generous portions at very reasonable prices. A drinks menu which includes Jordanian wine and Lebanese beer, and knowledgeable staff who are quick to answer any questions.

A great rating and the fact that it’s a Jordanian restaurant - a cuisine I’ve had very little of - motivated me to take my family here during a Cambridge trip. Unfortunately this restaurant failed me. The chicken liver was bland and disappointing. The khubz was supermarket quality. The yakhannah and mousakkan were ok but scant in meat portions. I was ready to give them a 4-star review until we had dessert : basbousa and kunafah. And those were unforgivable. Cold, straight out of the fridge. And the kunafah didn’t have the authentic cheese but some lousy soft cheese knockoff, possibly labneh. And the basbousa was crumbly old. The service was fine, nothing to praise about. The atmosphere was not special, but buzzing. The bill was hard for me to pay after that disappointment. They should do much better to justify the current rating they have online.

Favourite restaurant in Cambridge 😊order the hummus!!!! Have visited many times and food is always brilliant!! Never had a bad meal, always take friends here and new people visiting Cambridge. Would recommend ordering lots of the cold and small plates to share. I’m a small eater so find the main meals big enough for 2 to share.

They’re opening hours are incorrect

We discovered this gem when staying in Cambridge. Arriving at 6.30 to find the restaurant already packed - we knew it was going to be special and it was. The staff were attentive but discreet and we were quickly served with drinks. We shared a Kibbeh Maklieh for a starter then both had the Lamb Moussaka which was packed with lamb and vegetables slowly and beautifully cooked. Both excellent. We plan to return next time we are in Cambridge, thank you!

Taste 9/10 I got the Lamb Moussaka, the lamb is so tender and tasty 11/10 easily, the taste of the moussaka itself is also great, the rice is okay 7/10 and the bread is not my fav 6/10; Portion with price 7.5/10; Service 7.5/10 the food is fast but no wifi provided for customers, nothing special; Cleanness 10/10; vibe 9/10 songs are nice, the pictures are lovely, the atmosphere is spacious.

Amazing, authentic food and large portion sizes

Had the mixed schwarma and some baba ganouj, the food was amazing. Everyone at the table was very impressed with their meals.

We ordered a takeaway from here as our first meal when we moved in to Cambridge. We came to pick it up a little ready and they had it all wrapped up and ready to go, and they were very friendly. We had the moussaka and the tabbouleh - we ordered extra bread (not realising we were given bread, lovely fragrant rice and pickled veg anyway) so now we have loads! It’s so nice we’re going to freeze the excess and use it with future meals. Everything is so flavourful and hearty and it tastes like a home cooked meal. It made us feel comforted, we will definitely be returning to sample their other dishes. Thank you!

Very odd that you have to go to the till to pay, only to be presented with a touch screen showing 10%, 15%, 25% tipping options. I acted on auto pilot but it’s very sneaky of them to ask for a tip without providing us with the printed bill. Won’t be going back for this reason

If you want to get very disappointed it is right place to go!! If you think you will get there nice grilled food like usually Mediterranean meats are well deliciously grilled then well this not food you get in Little Petra. Before going there I checked menu if livers are served there/ me and my friend we are chicken livers lovers. Yes the had livers but despite on the menu card it says grilled- they are firstly cooked ( which makes them dry and crumbly and sort of grainy). Tbh Chicken and Lamb shawarma felt also like meat is first cooked then spiced but for sure not grilled as at least some bits would be crunchy. We raised liver issues with waiters and manager but they said they don’t chat grill here - as you’d expect in Jordan restaurant. I neve eaten cooked liver before when it says on the menu grilled. Service wasn’t great either and as you see from replay to complains here they don’t really care! If you want nice Mediterranean food there are better options in Cambridge that this bland meats- eating sald saved me. We took ale meats home and gave to pets as no use of that restaurant

Not impressed. Maybe because we went on a busy Saturday, but the overall experience was disappointing. We had a reservation and appeared to got the worst seat in an area best described as a broom closet. The acoustics so bad I could barely heard my wife. The first waiter was super polite but halfway in his welcoming got shuffled away by a colleague. The starters were mixed. The lamb&hummus was awesome. The chicken liver totally overcooked and bone dry. The mains (both lamb dishes) were cold, blend, totally overcooked and zero flavor. It felt it was made hours ago and left to stew. The pita bread was served in a plastic bag. I guess this keeps the bread moist, but unappealing. After we got our dinner the staff was nowhere to been seen. So no second glass of wine I reckon. At the bill there was a mandatory tip of either 15%, 20% or 25%. I really wanted to like this place. But maybe a weekday is a better option

We just stopped in for a lunch with the kids. We were welcomed in and they found a nice spot to accommodate us with a double buggy. We ordered falafel and mixed meze. They brought out some little complementary bites with tzatziki while we waited. The food came out with salad and pickles. We loved it and we'll be back.

There is only one vegan option on the mains but it is soooo tasty. I had the moussaka which is not greek moussaka. I'm definitely coming back to try some starters. The portion was reasonable, it came with rice and naan. The staff was nice and very quick. I had someone who didn't understand English very well. My drink m never came to the table. The music was a bit loud to take a call.

3 of us went for dinner on Saturday evening. Food was excellent as was the service. When the bill arrived I honestly thought they made a mistake. Excellent food at an excellent price !!!

I came from the US to visit my friends and we’ve decided to dine at this place during lunch hours. The food took about 20 min to come out and made us a little nervous since we were on a little time crunch, but that wasn’t an issue for us. I brought butter beer from London and was hoping to enjoy it with our meal, but the manager was quite rude to us about putting the drinks away. We wouldn’t have had any issues with putting the drinks away had the man asked nicely. His tone was quite upfront and aggressive. I asked the female server to surprise me with a dish and it came out quite unique/interesting and had salvaged the experience for me.

I recommend it 5 stars for the cuisine, service and environment, less so. Excellent food, unfortunately the service is not at the level of the food despite the courtesy of the waiters. Water is brought by the glass, no carafe or bottle. The place is noisy and I don't recommend the table under the cash register or those around the entrance door.

We ate here as we were visiting Cambridge for the day. Must say I was very disappointed with the food quality, I ordered a chicken shawarma and my husband ordered the marinated lamb. The food was dry, cold, and didn’t have much flavour at all. The service was polite. For dessert we ordered Kunafe and it was not nice at all. It left a bitter aftertaste. We’ve eaten at many Middle Eastern restaurants and this was unfortunately not a great dining experience.

Overrated, bland food and awful service. Visited here a few weeks ago with a friend and had a rubbish experience overall. No redeeming features. Waited ages to be served. We ended up having to flag down a staff member to take our order. The food I ordered was missing some items (I ordered the Labneh which should have included black olives and mint and was missing both). The chicken kofte tasted like it had been microwaved, and the fries were dry and overdone. Even the bread tasted like it had been bought at a nearby shop. Nothing tasted remotely flavoursome or authentic and the waiting staff were rude and annoying; interrupting us midway through the dessert and tea, with the waitress attempting to take away my friend's hot chocolate before she had even finished it! When we did ask for the bill, the waitress said 'ok' and then disappeared. When we flagged down another staff member, we were told we needed to pay at the till. Not sure why the waitress couldn't have told us this in the first place. The guy at the till was lacking in manners (much like the rest of the staff) which topped off a disappointing visit. If you're looking for somewhere with a good taste of the Mediterranean then you'd be best off visiting The Olive Grove, Efes, Bedouin, or Al Casbah. Basically, anywhere but here, unless you enjoy throwing money away on bland food and awful service.

When we came for dinner this evening, they said we would have to wait between an hour and 40 minutes. We said thank you. Then, as we were leaving to go somewhere else, they made us sit somewhere else. Then the waiter came again and said, "Can I take you to the next table for 2 people? Another customer will come here." We were 3 people. We stated that we would be there and chose to leave the restaurant. Frankly, the attitude was not nice. I do not think we will come again.

I have had one of the best Lovely family meal at Little Petra on Hills Road Cambridge on Thursday evening. Although he was fully booked ,the owner managed to find a table for me and the family which was much appreciated 💐. Very tasty food, great atmosphere, competent staff, very friendly owner, and quick and efficient service. mango crush juice, orange juice and lemon & mint drinks. Absolutely 😍 phenomenal. Thank you so much for your service ❤️ 🙏
