After the death of some close relatives, and my dog, I thought my sadness would never expire. But then I ate at the Flat Iron. Everything about my experience here made my life better and worth living. Everything from the fresh popcorn they served to the small but exceptionally tasty and tender steak was perfect! Especially the life changing mashed potatoes. My depression is cured!

Terrible service from an unenthusiastic team tonight. Food is not as good as it used ti be. I won’t be returning

I got the flat iron steak with peppercorn sauce and beef dripping chips. The steak is a decent size for the price. It was nicely cooked. The chips are probably some of the best that I’ve had in the UK — crispy and perfectly salted. The free ice cream at the end was a great bonus. You can tell it’s high quality by how delicious and creamy it is.

This was an excellent meal for a very reasonable price! Will go back asap!

Extremely efficient service and for the price point, gives the feel of a higher end atmosphere. The food and the drinks were also all delicious!

The steaks were cooked perfectly. However, the portion size of the wagyu intended for two was not enough. It would be great if they could serve larger portions to truly satisfy.

Go here for an incredible steak. We all went for the flat iron and couldn’t fault it. Probably the tenderest, tastiest steak I have ever had. The mashed potato is next level too!! On the way out don’t forget to get your 10/10 free ice cream too. Thank you flat iron team for a fantastic family meal.

Steak was amazing, the sides were not bad. The service was quick you didn’t have to wait to be seated. Food came fast as well. Was a group of 5, and we all had steak.

Delicious meal of steak, mash and spinach. Cooked perfectly, with excellent service and nice wine too. Absolutely faultless. And the free ice cream as we were leaving was a lovely surprise too!

One of the best restaurants for a steak cooked well. Staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, my waitress Betsy was super helpful and it couldn’t have been a better meal to celebrate my birthday with. Amazing atmosphere and all of the sides are to die for. With the popcorn to start and a token to get a free ice cream at the end, it’s a great experience the whole way through. I’d recommend this place to anyone and will always come back! Thank you all :)

I love flat iron, this isn’t the first time I have been. I’ve also been to a couple in London and have never had a bad experience. Really quick service, cocktails are tasty which is a bonus. Steak is always cooked to perfection and chips have always been piping hot. The popcorn to start and ice cream at the end is a really nice touch

Ordered flat iron steaks and the mash, spinach and chips as sides. The steaks and mash were amazing. Price is very reasonable - two steaks, three sides and two cocktails came to a total of 60. The free ice cream at the end is always bonus. The service was mediocre, waited quite a bit to be seated as when we walked in no staff attended us. But the waitress serving our table did a good job explaining the menu. Overall decent experience.

That is the best steak I’ve had in Cambridge. Their stakes are not “over priced” unlike most places here, the chips, the Béarnaise sauce as recommended by them & the Malbec! Oh-my! Delicious!! Très bien 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽

I agree with what others have said. The Wagyu beef £22 is tougher than the regular flat iron £14. The name is too real. It is recommended to enjoy it without extra money, and the charge is automatically increased by 12.5% ​​service charge n donation. We ate £70 pounds, and extra charges will be charged. £7.76 tip, I don’t know if the London branch is the same, but in many restaurants in the UK, tipping is optional and not mandatory.

As always, they keep the mark. Delicious meat. I decided to try the wagyu this time, turned out the branded regular tasted better. Not bad lemonade. A nice bonus in the form of popcorn and ice cream. Always happy to see restaurants that offer water. Cool interior, I would like to get on the 2nd floor, but alas closed. But all impression at the end spoils a little impudent service of the waitress, who on the one hand did everything right, but on the other intonation and style of communication causes dislike. I suggest you try the plain meat, butter sauce and baked aubergines and tomatoes on the side.

What a lovely restaurant! The food is simply sublime, with myself and my brother having the cheese burger which tasted like heaven, and my family having steak, which I tried and tasted wonderful. The sides are lovely and the chips and cream spinach especially were delicious! The service was rapid and accustomed to our specific orders (I'm a bit of a picky eater) and the drinks were also good too. The free popcorn offered is nice and cleverly makes us thirsty and drink more(although I have no problem with it), and the free ice cream is delicious, and suitable to have on the way out. would HIGHLY recommend to anyone around with some spare lunchtime and will happily go back for years!

Decent place.. Surely not the best steak I ever had, and I still haven't figured out why it's so viral right now. Food is good, but nothing extraordinary. Price is average, not too expensive.

If you like steak, look no further. Their signature steak, the flat iron is excellent, full of flavour and perfectly cooked. The side of bone marrow mash and truffle Mac and cheese where equally good. Excellent service with pop corn and ice cream on the house were an added bonus. Highly recommended.

Went for a date night with my partner. Food was amazing the quality of the steaks and the way they were cooked were incredible and the sides were delicious too. The biggest thing however was the service here. It was so refreshing to have this type of service in a restaurant in a day an age where it feels so hard to get that. I went there because of its reputation. Many Hong Kong people recommended it on the Internet, but the reputation was far from true! We ordered Wagyu and Signature, let’s share and try them out. There is no major difference between the product and the photo on the outline, and the appearance will be received after delivery. When you hold it in front of you, there is no meaty aroma at all, and the food is very chewy. You need Zhao Haonai to swallow a piece first, but the meaty taste is light. I think it seems to be cooked using the slow method. My chickens are cooked to varying degrees but not much ginseng comes out! Everyone is very disappointed! !

Absolutely excellent food. Tender and juicy steak and great side options. Very friendly staff and fast service. And amazing to get a free soft serve ice cream at the end if the meal. Highly recommended.

I came here on my birthday to treat myself, as I had been wanting to try Flat Iron for a while. While I was bummed that I couldn’t make a reservation for one online, when I arrived they were able quickly find me a seat. I was first served their citrus infused water and beef fat popcorn, which was very good! I ordered the sirloin steak special, bone marrow and garlic mashed potatoes and the creamed spinach. It took maybe 15 minutes for the food to arrive. The steak was cooked beautifully and the sides were fantastic. My only criticism is that I wish the steak had been seasoned a bit more. The atmosphere in this restaurant was truly amazing though, the music was great and they weren’t trying to be some pretentious steak house. They do what they know and they do it well!

The food was good, the stake was cooked nicely and the sides were tasty. The server helped us with the menu and gave us details of the cuts and the different stakes. The burger was the most tasty dish. Loved the chips. The knife/cleaver was good fun but it was very bland. Could do better job with a knife. Unless you order a few sides, the steak itself is not enough to fill your appetite. If you are really hungry, this is not the place for you. Having said that, it was a nice experience and one of the places you need to visit in Cambridge. ££££

Good value food. Steak was lovely. The only trouble was my sister found a hair in the Mashed potato. Staff were great though and dealt with it efficiently. They did offer to bring up a new dinner but as we'd shared sides (and also because it would mean another wait) they took the sides from the bill. Service is included on the bill which is one of my pet hates. I like to choose how much service charge I pay. But all in all it was very nice and I would go again.

Perfect restaurant for date night. My partner and I ordered two flat iron steaks, crispy bone marrow garlic mash and truffle mac and cheese. One of the best steaks I've tried. The service was impeccable. We had a lovely waiter named Hugo who was charming and looked after us very well. The atmosphere was pleasant and lively. Would definitely recommend.

Came here tonight for special meal with my family, and my friend encouraged me to talk about this as I received a very horrible experience, im 14, im not really used to any racism and although i have heard abt it online i didnt think it would like actually happen, we ordered a full meal with tip up to about £100 and the workers were very horrible and nasty, and they kept giving me weird looks and trying to ignore us whenever we tried to order simple things like second drinks, and it was very horrible

Disgusting behaviour, im of colour, and noticed a very discriminatory attitude towards the service, first of all i noticed a very hesitant way of the workers as they tried to ignore me and go to the white couple behind me and i had to politely ask them to have me seated, and i thought it was a honest mistake but when i ordered the ice cream, i could sense a negative attitude and it was a nasty and rude experience all in all, this really upset me because i usually love to dine here with friends, and i never thought i would be treated differently for such a childish hatred towards my race, i also noticed a difference in the size of my ice cream compared to others ordering, petty as it is there was a difference, this was very disappointing towards me, and i hope no one has to experience this.

Amazing free beef dripping popcorn and one of the best ice creams ever for free at the end. Such reasonable prices, great atmosphere. Will come again, just make sure you book.

Lots to like about Flat Iron from the spacious interior decor to the high-quality well-prepared food at a fair price point. Portions are right-size, rather than super-size which works! Very well looked after by Ash and Jay with a great vibe throughout the evening. We will certainly be back!

Every element of our meal was well flavoured, e.g. the garlickyness of the mash, the nutmeg in the spinach. Would have liked more choice of soft drinks and that the free pudding could be a little brownie or similar rather than soft ice cream 🍦

Very very nice steak and chips. The side salad was swamped in dressing but it still tasted alright. The ice cream is so fun and delicious 😋

Amazing food. Fast and friendly service. These are easily the 2 ways to describe this restaurant. I went in expecting a prolonged dining experience like at most steakhouses but was pleasantly surprised by the swiftness of my experience. I was greeted with delicious beef dipped popcorn as soon as I set foot in the restaurant. The staff met me with warmth and friendliness. Once I had ordered it took less than 10 minutes for my steak and fries to arrive. The steak was melt in your mouth and the fries can only be described as cooked with motherly love. Will be returning with friends and family.

Food is great for the prices, but the steak cooking wise is very inconsistent. I’ve been to this location, probably more than six times and I always order the same thing and the steak cooked the exact same way and it’s never medium rare. It’s either too rare or too over cooked. Today I went with a friend and we both ordered the exact same thing and both of us got our steaks medium rare and one was rare and one was well done. Overall, the whole experience is good although the last three times I’ve went I have to physically ask for the receipt because the waitresses are too busy talking to coworkers or just standing around because it wasn’t even very busy. It was only 2 pm today as an example But overall, I will keep coming back because the value for money is good

An ideal place for a good coffee

Went for my boyfriend’s birthday, and had the worst experience i’ve ever had at a restaurant ever. asked for a rare steak and it came out raw and COLD. I never ever complain at restaurants but it was inedible so when a server came to ask how we were doing i just let her know my steak was cold and she went to fetch me a new one. the new one that came out was genuinely even worse. it was still cold and still bloody mooing. i LOVE rare steak and i like it proper rare but the steak they gave me was literally just seared on either side, not cooked in the middle AT ALL. There was still white fat in the middle and practically blue. going to a steak house where they can’t cook steak was a whole other level of disappointing. the mac and cheese and the spinach was nice but i couldn’t eat the steak and so i left still hungry. will never be returning. The waitress was extremely nice and understanding about it all and took the steak off the bill using her own old friends discount but would’ve rather been able to actually enjoy my boyfriends birthday dinner

Excellent steak and sides. Only quibble is that my steak was cooked too rare (which you'd expect a steak restaurant not to get wrong!) The complimentary popcorn and ice cream were great. And the staff were super friendly.

Have been here twice, both times I enjoyed my food here. Both times I have had the cheeseburger, beef dripping chips, and the free vanilla ice cream you receive afterwards.

We live in London and often eat at Flat Iron as we know the food is always good but not over priced. Visited Cambridge for the day and were happy to see Flat iron, all food was cooked to perfection and staff all very friendly.

My partner and I came to Cambridge for the weekend and he loves steak so I booked this spot. The steak was delicious and the service was 10/10 👌🏽!! Would definitely recommend this restaurant as you won’t be disappointed

I can’t remember having a better steak! It was so good, that I ate it simply as it comes, without sauce or anything else! I was able to close the eyes and enjoy the taste! We had the flat iron steak and the wagyu of the day! In my opinion, flat iron was tastier! One of the few places in Cambridge where you don’t regret the money spent!

Can not fault a thing, the food was amazing and was served quickly, we had a strlion and the flat iron both cooked to how we ask. We had 3 sides and a sauce each and this was plenty to fed both of us. Love the simplicity of the menu. The popcorn and ice cream are a great touch I mentioned it was my partners birthday as we were being seated and the staff couldn't have been any better. Everyone who served us wished him a happy birthday and made the experience extra special. Couldn't of asked for a better meal. Will be returning.

The food is nice but to be honest I can make a better steak at home, lacks seasoning and is relatively boring, but for the price it’s decent. Service is good and it’s a nice venue but in my opinion slightly overrated. Much better steaks in other places.

Great restaurant with a smooth and relaxing atmosphere. All staff friendly and knowledgeable about the brand. Our waiter Ash was fantastic, accommodating, made open recommendations on the menu and had a great sense of humour. Fantastic everything: food, service and atmosphere. The food was delicious (the bavette especially) and the chips were yummy as well. Best steak in Cambridge by far to be honest. The service was delightful and friendly, while leaving you alone to enjoy your meal. The atmosphere was very relaxed, with background music that was both pleasant and not so loud you have to shout over it as is so common elsewhere.

Second visit. Popcorn on our first visit was lovely, warm straight from the machine, with the beef dripping very lightly coating the popcorn. This time, it had been portioned up for too long and was cold, so the beef dripping was not a nice texture and spoilt it. After my steak being undercooked on our previous visit, rare to medium-rare when i asked for medium, I explained I didn't want it undercooked, so the waitress ordered medium well instead of medium, which says a lot! The steak arrived super quickly, just a few minutes after being ordered. It was medium well, so they can do this, just not medium, it seems. Unfortunately, it seemed like the steak had been dipped into beef dripping before being served, which was quite greasy. I had to wipe off the excess with my napkin as much as I could. The steak was tender, and the chips were nice and crispy. The waitress was attentive, but with the popcorn being pre-portioned, the steak arriving so quickly and the bill provided promptly it did feel a bit like it was a conveyer belt, and not the relaxing indulgent experience I had hoped for. We were there for a total of 35 minutes, and with the already added 12.5% tip, it was not a cheap visit.

Lovely atmosphere, albeit a bit loud and the music was inaudible, but it was a Friday night so had it coming! They accommodated us promptly without a reservation but it was absolute chance, a few minutes later and we wouldn’t have been able to dine in so ideally come with a reservation. Food is super tasty, especially the bernaise burger, best burger we have ever tasted, and haven’t stopped thinking about the beef drip popcorn and the soft serve at the end! However when it comes to the steak we were a bit underwhelmed, maybe because of the hype that Flat iron has got as a fast growing brand, but it matches the price. Would definitely return and will recommend without hesitation. Plus highlight to Will! Amazing service and incredible knowledge.

Visited with my partner, steak was incredible, along with sides, sauces, and cocktails. Great service from Hugo too even on a busy evening.

Very mediocre, the beer selection was short and sweet, great to accommodate the small menu. The beef fat Popcorn is delicious. The flat iron steak was completely unseasoned, bland and cold, although cooked to my preference the chef could do with being heavier on the salt & pepper and serving the food hot to guests. The sides we had the Truffle Mac & Cheese, Crispy garlic bone Marrow mash and creamed spinach, all of which had to potential to be solid 10/10 sides, however all arrived at the table cold and under seasoned again. staff are friendly and inviting until they forget about you for 30 minutes after asking for your bill and having to ask another waitress for it. Such a shame, as it my friends spoke very highly of the branch in London, I thought I'd give this one a try, I won't necessarily be recommending here to my friends.

Really lovely interior, clean, open, woody vibes. We were given popcorn on arrival which was a nice touch. Cocktails quite pricey for very tiny glassful, but the bitter soft drinks were delicious! Very limited menu and sides which I expected more from. Unfortunately, all our chips were really overcooked (crispy and hard) with only a few softer ones - which as one of the main sides was disappointing. We also had the creamed spinach which was also nice, but for me, slightly lacking in flavor. Final touch was ice cream on the way out (for free), used as a method to prevent you overstaying. We didn't feel rushed though, despite this being a Friday. Would have liked better sides, and possibly a dessert / coffee option. Otherwise, staff really friendly and attentive.

So helpful and the food is delicious really reasonable for the quality and a great atmosphere will be back!

Really good experience at Flat Iron! Food was lovely, we had the Wagyu sharer and it was tasty and melt in the mouth. Hugo the server was also exceptional. The free ice cream on exit was also really good and a nice suprise! Highly rated.

Restaurant is clean. Good food, high quality, only downside is no dessert or starters! You order sides separately which is great for waste prevention. Food choice is limited but they do really well the selected items. Free popcorn when sit and free ice cream when you leave. Very friendly, approachable staff. Would recommend.

Food was as good as always from flat iron. Service could do with some improvement it wasn’t rude but it wasn’t great just very flat and the waiters seems sad. It would not put be off eating here though.

Went this evening for my Birthday meal. We were very disappointed, no greeting at the door, a guy just mumbled ‘your table is over there’ Ok…. Tried to order drinks, no draught beer on tap as ‘no gas’ only bottles of 0.5% no apology. Ordered a bottle of £30 Sauvignon which was absolutely awful. Ordered the steak which was nice, also mash which is frozen mash with sprinkles, Mac and cheese without truffle (came with truffle) creamed spinach which was nice and a kale salad also nice, chips very greasy and all of it was lukewarm, no check back and no-one to serve us the ‘free ice-cream’ so we left the restaurant with no Goodbye or Thankyou or have a nice evening! Very disappointed and will not return.

I booked at Flat Iron Cambridge, due to great review's id heard from others. However when the food arrived i was incredibly disappointed. My steak was small and thin with little flavour and arguably overdone for a rare steak. The chips were over salted and the pepper corn sauce tasted synthetic and rancid. The ice cream token at the end was a nice touch and the service was okay. But i was expecting the steak to which it puts its name and the accompanying sauce to be the star, it was anything but.

Birthday treat for a steak eater who thoroughly enjoyed it, my food was luke warm, requested it to returned for hot was met by luke warm response to my request from waitress, it was replaced and very tasty in the end. Ice cream to go was amazing

Been waiting to try here since I heard it was opening as a decent steak locally is hard to find since Six Mile Bottom steakhouse shut. Although it has very low lighting and is quite dark inside, the ambience and atmosphere was lovely. I like the modern warehouse feel to it. Staff were on point and attentive enough for us, weren’t overbearing like some restaurants but came over enough. Menu is extremely light with three steaks and a burger. Bit perturbed that the specials board had a ribeye on it but they had none left and it was only 5pm on a Saturday night! This didn’t not distract us from ordering from the main menu though and between the four of us we pretty much tried all the sides. Three had the sirloin at £20 and I had the Flat Iron steak at £14. It was cooked to perfection and just melted in the mouth and we all could’ve eaten it all again. I had the peppercorn sauce which is the best I’ve tasted. All the sides tasted amazing especially the bone marrow mash. We all had cocktails too which cost £8 and again tasted great. All in all an amazing evening with great atmosphere, attentive staff (must mention Ella who served us with smile and some banter but we spoke with others too who were equally lovely), amazing food and the best company in our friends. We will return and mentioning it to my foodie group too. Keep up the good work and looking forward to coming back very soon.

We had a really nice experience. The food was 10/10 and fairly priced. The sides were amazing, especially the macaroni and cheese and the aubergine! The stuff was really friendly and helpful. We were celebrating a special event and they gave a booth! We’ll definitely go again! ❤️

Absolutely delicious. So welcoming, friendly and great food. Super fast todos but not rushed. Ash should be mayor of flat iron Cambridge.

The food was lovely and our waiter Ashley was wonderful, however there one one manager that wears black glasses was very rude and ruined the night. Other than that would high recommend.

Great service and attentive staff

Myself and my friend went for dinner after reserving. Time was of the essence and we were completely let down by the restaurant. Our food came 1 hour and 20 minutes late after many times asking and following up. A staff member treated us like an annoyance by not following up and not apologising when our food was coming very late and had to be convinced clearly to get our drinks right away after over 1 hour sitting down with no food or drink. The food and drinks were at an adequate level but came far too late and we spent one hour being left alone and treated like garbage. Extremely disappointing experience and would not recommend based on our experience. Thankfully the Manager compensated by putting the meal and drinks on the house but we would have preferred to pay for food and drinks that came on time.

5-stars overall, and so far the best meal I've had in Cambridge. I came hungry and left extremely satisfied, and very reasonably priced. I ordered the Wagyu Steak, Mash, and Spinach. The meal was exceptional, so much so, I ordered another! They offered an ice cream on the way out, at no cost. I highly recommend.

This place is great, the food was really good, the steaks are all perfect! Our waitress was very friendly and helpfull, she came to us many times checking on us. The atmosphere here is very chill and relaxing. Prices are not bad. Dishes a little on the small side, but considering value and cost it was OK to me.
