Flat Iron Cambridge in Cambridge

We have been here 3 times now. We normally order all the sides and dips as they are so delicious to go with our steaks. We always look forward to coming because it’s great food reasonably priced and we have never been disappointed! Two of the 3 times we visited we had the most fantastic waitress. Jess. She’s so kind and thoughtful and was great with our son. She’s the kind of waitress you actually remember compared to the others. We are now loyal customers. This is 100 percent the best place for steak in Cambridge. It won’t let you down.

Not the best steak but was tender and cooked to my liking. Lacked any seasoning, so had to add my own. The burger, on the other hand, was very tasty.. i would of happily eat 4 of those patties covered in cheese. Service was really good . I was in and out quite quickly .. which is how i like it when lone working away.

Booked here for a birthday lunch. It was great. Both had the flat iron steak, medium rare, and it was perfect. The mash is just lovely! Booked here because the steak restaurant we usually go to in Cambridge was fully booked but this was a great find. Will definitely come here again.

Attentive and responsive staff. Nice atmosphere and unfortunately that's all that was good. Even though one steak was taken off our bill (even though I didn't even ask), I can't say I enjoyed the meal. We ordered 2 steaks, a side of chips and baked macaroni cheese. The steak, or it’s correct to call it fillet, was very small, like a child’s portion. The menu did not indicate the weight of the steak or the option of ordering a different size. I ate 2 steaks (mine and my wife's) and was still hungry. The chips were overcooked, very greasy and bitter in taste. I liked the mac and cheese, but again I would like to point out that it all looked like a child's portion.

Had a very enjoyable dinner, we had 3x flat iron and one wagyu Although one of the flat iron steaks were not satisfying, our sever Aitor came to exchange for us. It was then cooked to perfection 🤤 Was very sad that my friend paid for the bill and I was not able to leave extra tips, will definitely go back again Highly recommend for the Malbec and Mac & Cheese

As expected. Steak is great and good value. Truffle mac n cheese is so good. Good atmosphere. Kids love the complimentary popcorn and ice cream. Tokens are a fun idea. What especially sets this restaurant apart is the super friendly customer service. Front of house - Grazia. Charming and overly helpful. What a lovely person!

it’s not usually too crowded but it’s very good steaks that they have sometimes they’re a bit small but if u get sides it’s good enough to get full, the staff is respectful very nice and quick

Looking for somewhere to eat we spotted this place by the queue outside just before the doors opened. We were quickly seated and just seconds later were given a large bottle of citrus water and a mug full of salty popcorn on the house. I don’t know if evening meals are different but the lunch menu was small (pictures uploaded) so it didn’t take long to choose. Finishing the popcorn we were quickly topped up again. Food took no longer than 20 mins to arrive. We both had the Flat Iron Steak, chips cooked in beef and a shared mash potato with bone marrow. Steak cooked medium rare was well presented and well cooked. The cleaver style knives going through the steak like the proverbial hot knife through butter. Mash was the best I’ve ever had. So creamy and full of flavour. Chips were disappointing. Although they tasted great the chips themselves were reminiscent of the scraps our local chippy used to hand out to kids for free. More bits than chips! Although £60 is a lot for lunch it was worth it for the experience and different style of serving steak. Paying the bill we were given two little silver coloured cleavers you could exchange for an ice cream on the way out. Tempted to keep the cleavers (what for I don’t know) we decided to take the ice cream and are glad we did. Not somewhere I would go back to again and again but would recommend as a one off “you should try”. Maybe an evening menu is more extensive? Give it a try!

This place is amazing. The taste of this burger and stake is absolutely fantastic 😋 I recommend trying this. You won't be disappointed, 5⭐️ all the way

First time visit and loved it! We had the wagu special and a standard flat iron; both were excellent. Staff were very friendly and attentive and happy to chat. The complementary desert was a pleasant and surprising bonus. This is my new favourite restaurant in Cambridge, and definitely in my top 3 anywhere. Amazing. Keeping up the good work so us foodies can keep enjoying your delicious menu!

Food was excellent and service was superb.

We wanted to have dinner at Flat Iron,we didn't book it in advance because we thought that is Tuesday evening and will not be that busier. When we arrived a waiter looked on his tablet and around (plenty of empty tables) said that is no table available and we need to wait 45 minutes. We asked what about upstairs? He said none available at that time, it was around 18:30pm. Very disappointed and we had our little baby with us also.

Good atmosphere, great staff from the reception to the waiters and the chef came out to deliver our mini cleavers for the free ice cream. Definitely worth the visit. Romero our waiter was particularly charming to an old couple. Worth his weight in gold.

Came here for our anniversary and it was incredible! The food is delicious, and you get free popcorn as an appetiser and a free ice cream cone at the end. The steaks we ordered were perfectly cooked. We both ordered medium and they came out fantastic! Very juicy and pink in the middle. We also ordered the chips, creamed spinach and roasted aubergine which were all fantastic; the roasted aubergine was incredible, perfectly salted and crispy around the edges of the serving dish, and the chips were crispy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside. The creamed spinach was delicious, perfectly seasoned and creamy, and it paired great with everything else. Everything was delicious and at a great price, with amazing atmosphere and service. We will definitely be coming back!

Pretty place with good service from tall guy, but that’s it. Tiny steak which was not even warm!! We also had tiny mac and cheese side which was also cold! That’s crazy fro this price, by the time we got asked how the food was we almost finished our meal since it was already cold when arrived. We didn’t say anything because guy was nice, but with the service charge 12,5 % food should be at least warm! Also what is the £ 0,20 donation? Like why are you adding up random stuff on the bill? Quite annoying, won’t be coming back.

We choose the Wagyu steak as expected it to be a tender cut of meat. Unfortunately, it was so tough and we were very disappointed. Not the dining experience we were hoping for. Maybe it’s better to choose the standard option?

Ate a sirloin steak for £26 plus £4 for a small handful of chips on the side. Drank tap water so no charge on drinks. I asked for medium and got medium well, the steak was so small and thin that it would be impossible for it to be cooked lower than that so the portion was laughably small for the price, probably not even 6oz of meat if you take into account that it had the fat that sirloin has normally. It was advertised as "wagyu" but it was no better than anything you can buy on the supermarket, so utter nonsense. Wagyu is supposed to melt in your mouth, this was chewy. The fries were good but as I've said, laughably small amount, probably just a medium sized potato worth of chips. It's embarrassing that they charge £31 pounds for this, the service was super slow, 30 minutes of waiting for such a dissaponting meal. It also took around 20 minutes to get the bill and pay so I could leave. I left the restaurant hungry and disappointed. Will never come back. For £30 pounds, in any supermarket, you can get two steaks three times the size/weight of what I got and cook it to perfection at home in just a few minutes. It's embarrassing that a steakhouse charging this much can't do better than a less-than-average home cook (me) can.

I had a wonderful dining experience at Flat Iron! The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was excellent. The steaks were perfectly cooked and so flavorful—definitely some of the best I’ve had. I do wish there were more variety in steak options with different cuts, but what they offer is truly outstanding. To top it all off, they surprise you with free ice cream at the end, which was a lovely touch. Overall, a fantastic experience, and I can’t wait to come back again. Highly recommended for steak lovers!

Staff are always lovely in here, food is fab & atmosphere always good too! Cost £49.50 for 2 of us to eat (not inc drinks) that was for myself with 2 sides & sauce and my sister with 1 side & a sauce. We couldn’t book online as there were no times available so we walked in. 40 mins wait but we sat in bar area, we were called to our table after 25 mins. Again, if the staff wasn’t lovely we would have left it. This was my third time coming and the longest wait so far. Not bad at all.

Hello, I went to Flat Iron last night with a group of friends. When we arrived we had to wait for the table even though we had booked. We were put right next to the front door, which was cold as the door was constantly being opened, with no apology from staff. No starters and no desert. Very little on the menu to choose from, and if the knew portion was going to be a kids' meal size, we would have all ordered more. We all left having to go for a second meal out. Also, they served wine in a normal glass you would get at home with the children. Was not what I was expecting. Once the bill came, the waitress asked if we could leave the table as it was booked for in a few minutes and were asked to finish our drinks at the bar. We won't be coming back.

Good portion if you aren’t really a steak enjoyer, the steak was cooked according to my liking and tender. Bone marrow garlic mashed potatoes were superb - no complaints! The peppercorn sauce was very nice and complimented the steak but I wish it was a little more flavourful, other than that the food was lovely and service was friendly and helpful. You’re given a small token to redeem your free vanilla ice cream at the end, great way to end the night.

Great steak, friendly service and very affordable prices

Ok for lunch, but not much choice. Their Flat iron steak or a special. Nice touch was the complimentary ice cream cone in exit. Ordered the flat iron medium rare, possibly nearer rare, but ok. You have to pay for chips or mash etc over and above the price. Overall, ok, but like I said not much choice 🤷‍♂️

I have been looking forward to this restaurant. It felt like it was a pre-made dish. The steak and grilled eggplant were served two minutes after ordering. The grilled eggplant tasted okay, but the steak did have a pre-made feel and tasted very average. Finally, the waiter asked about the dining experience. I said it was average, but I quickly refunded the service fee. The free ice cream at the end was pretty good, so I just came here to eat ice cream.

Service was brilliant from a young lady called Jess. Absolutely beautiful and helpful . The food was great. Atmosphere is warm and cozy. Only down fall was the young Male bartender in his nose in direct view behind the bar removing he's peicing and picking and squeezing whatever was in his nose. Then not to wash has hands or remove the glove he was wearing. To then proceed to making customers drinks and dry glasses. Absolutely disgusting! I notify the manager on duty who seemed to say something to him . However he remained behind the bar with the same glove and unwashed hands. Was so unpleasant to see. I of course did not allow this youngster to make my drinks. I will be back as it's a really nice place to eat!

Just confident perfection. Already being fans of the other Flat Iron restaurants, we were excited to visit one closer to home so went not long after opening. It was seamless. We had the signature flat iron and kids had burgers / mac n cheese - all were out of this world and the sides were incredible in their own rights. The menu is unapologetically short and every single dish on it is well thought out and perfectly executed. The staff were trained to a high standard and every guest was extended the same warm welcome and top notch service experience. Extra recognition and kudos for the brilliant branding and roll out of that brand. Everything is true to the flat iron brand with the instantly recognisable cleaver everywhere 👌 The popcorn and ice cream are the cherry on top. Can’t wait to return. Brilliant value and leading the way for steakhouses.

No starters and no desserts Very little choice of veg. My husband had t bone £55.00 He wasn’t given a choice as to how he wanted it cooked.They always cook it medium rare and he likes medium to well done so it’s too rare for him but he did eat it. No cooked tomatoes or mushrooms very disappointing for the money we paid ! Won’t be going back.

Just been here, and the girl on the door said the waiting time was 1 hour and 45 minutes! No queue at door, and we could see a lot of empty tables. Looks like they don’t want customers.

Food is amazing every time. Great for coeliacs! You're even able to have the chips! I recommend booking to avoid disappointment as it can get very busy

My 4th time at the Cambridge flat iron and every time I have come the service has always been amazing!I Like the small menu nice and simple. However the flat iron steak is good but nothing amazing, but for £14 you can’t go wrong. I usually go for the specials on the board. One of my top Places to eat in Cambridge.

Great place for quality but inexpensive steak. Some of the best sides I’ve ever had, unlimited beef dripping popcorn and a free ice cream at the end. Good wine menu, what’s not to love. Staff are friendly and efficient.

visited with my boyfriend this evening and we loved it! we both had the flat iron steak and also shared sides of chips, mash and, mac and cheese. it was tasted amazing, even the chips were salted perfectly and i especially enjoyed the mash as its garlic flavour was really nice and not something i’ve had before. The atmosphere was great too, even late Tuesday evening, the restaurant was very lively and the lights and decor added to the ambiance. Also the staff were all very friendly. finally, we were very pleasantly surprised that we got free ice-cream afterward!

We ate here for lunch. There are some interesting things here that I found pleasantly surprising. Firstly, there is only one steak, the Flat Iron steak, for 14 pounds, although it is a bit on the small side but the price is reasonable. I wish there cold be more expensive options for bigger cuts of meat, given that that wasn’t filling enough for lunch. However, there is free popcorn served when you are waiting for your dishes, and the steak knife is a mini-cleaver. Moreover, when you have paid, the staff give you a mini-cleaver keychain that can actually be exchanged for free ice cream! I like that they charge 1.5.pounds to discourage you from putting sauce on the steak, as the steak is well flavoured naturally.

We had already quickly established Flat Iron as one of our favourite chains after eating at one of the London locations, and the Cambridge branch fully upheld that decision. Fantastic food at a great price, perfectly cooked and quick to arrive. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, giving us a heads up that our waiter was new to set expectations, but even then they did a brilliant job (shoutout to Ryan!). The popcorn and post-meal ice cream is always a treat. We once again left already feeling excited for our next Flat Iron visit!

Very disappointing steak and sides sizing. Both left hungry. A lot of money for not a lot. Please provide steak knives as your a steak restaurant. Gimmicky blunt chopper was pathetic and wouldn’t cut.

Had a wonderful experience today in Flat Iron. Walked in and seated immediately. Greeted by a very friendly and helpful waiter who I believe was called Ash. The steak and the truffle burger were absolutely delicious and priced very reasonably I think for what you get. Free popcorn and ice cream too just to make it even better. Best meal out I’ve had in quite a while

Great food, value for money and wonderful customer service. There was a mixup with the orders, to no fault of our server who was lovely, and Hugo was brilliant and made sure we got the right order and had some really nice talks with him. We also got half of the bill off due to the mixup, which was really kind of the chef and the servers.

Personal y comida increíbles, ambiente muy relajado. Fuimos por el filete de hierro plano por solo £ 14. Salsa de pimienta por solo £ 1. 50 muy razonable. Teníamos la berenjena asada, las patatas fritas y las espinacas cremadas como laterales y todas estaban súper sabrosas y combinaban perfectamente con el filete. El personal es lo que hace este lugar. Oscar nuestro camarero estaba frío, divertido y atento. No puedo esperar a volver a este en Cambridge o una sucursal hermana A*******

recently went for dinner for my birthday and had the most perfect experience. we were served by hugo who explained the menu and gave us great recommendations, his service was beyond great and made our visit very special - even bringing me a birthday dessert :) food was exquisite and we'lil definitely be returning

He querido probar hierro plano por siglos y el lugar de Cambridge no decepcionó. Era todo lo que esperaba y más. El personal era amable, servicial e informativo. El menú es pequeño pero perfecto, así como todo lo necesario para el filete! La plancha plana era razonable en £ 14 y luego se añaden lados para extra. Los filetes se cocinaron exactamente como todos queríamos y las patatas fritas y el queso Mac n de trufa eran increíbles. Además te dan un helado gratis. Realmente disfruté de mi comida aquí está a la altura del bombo y no puedo esperar para probar Leeds más cerca de casa.

Absolutely delightful place that has quickly become one of our favourites. The food is priced well, and the small menu makes the quality and taste really stand out. We went twice in a span of three weeks and look forward to returning again and again. Service is also very prompt and friendly. Top quality restaurant all across the board.

Lovely atmosphere, family said steak was amazing. I don’t eat meat and the made an aubergine tomato mozzarella side as a main - soft aubergine- delicious! Creamed spinach and truffle Mac cheese was amazing too. Great service and we had a great waiter (Italian male name beginning with R - Romero?)

The staff were lovely, the atmosphere was great. The popcorn at the start was a nice touch. The steak was delicious. Found the sides too small though, my partner left despite having a steak and a macaroni cheese he was still hungry. Would come again and order more sides!

Delicious, high-quality meat with a great aroma – the food is a perfect 10. The meat is tender, with the fat melting in your mouth. The atmosphere is a bit crowded and noisy, and the service is slightly slow.

La comida era buena filete muy tierno (plano de hierro) era un poco demasiado sal para mí, pero no estoy tan interesado en la sal, pero ese es mi servicio de preferencia fantástico todo el personal es muy amable y parece feliz de estar allí, así que hace un gran ambiente para los clientes sin duda volveremos

The restaurant offers great value for money. I recommend ordering the steak medium-rare; the fries and creamed spinach are both delicious! I always suggest this place to friends—the prices are reasonable, and the food is excellent! After the meal, you can even get ice cream. I’m not usually a fan of ice cream, but this is the best I’ve ever had.

We went here before going to The Cambridge Corn Exchange to see Squeeze. The Wagyu on offer was Bavette which is absolutely amazing cooked medium. We also had creamed spinach, fries, macaroni cheese and the mash as sides. All were absolutely top notch. Would highly recommend the mash over anything else! For drink I had a Passionfruit Collins which was also very good!

I don’t typically gush about meals I’ve had, but I was genuinely blown away by my dinner at Flat Iron. From the drinks to the mains to the sides and ice cream, literally everything was perfection. I regret not having eaten here sooner, and I look forward to returning. The bone marrow mash alone is worth a trip!

For a place that specialises in steak I was thoroughly underwhelmed by mine. Small, slightly chewy and lacking in flavour. Side dishes were small.

Some very nice food options and a good drinks selection, came on a Wednesday lunch time so didn’t expect A-game service but felt a little sloppy even so (not just because the waiter was new). Prices are very reasonable and restaurant was clean and tidy. Will visit again in the future though

We had a lovely time here for my wife's birthday this lunchtime. We were very well looked after by Ash - impeccable hospitality.

Flat Iron always get it right. Been to one of their branches in London and thought I’d give it another go while closer to home. A good simple menu with great steak, as always, at a very reasonable price. The sides here are out of this world, I’d drive hours for that creamed spinach. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Free ice cream and pop corn always goes down a treat.

It was brilliant! The steak was good for the price really well cooked and the sides were amazing. Ice cream was a surprise star as well. Beef dripping popcorn was a nice touch too. Whole place smelt incredible of cooking steak.

Absolutely lovely as any flat iron! We got incredibly lucky as we checked online and saw no availability but decided to try anyway and were able to reserve a table at 6:45 in person! I'm not sure what the name of our waitress was who did this for us but she was amazing. Food is always delicious and cant go wrong with an ice cream as a treat at the end.
