Great food, excellent service, lovely staff.

If you manage to sit right next to your family member at the table, you may be able to hear them speak over the loud Italian-ish music. A quick look at the menu and you are starting to wonder if your favorite Italian (or rather Italian American) dish will live up to its promises. Spoiler: it will not. Do not order anything but pasta and pizza. This is not an Italian restaurant, it's a pizza - pasta place. Stay away from the veal, for it is all but veal... You'd think a 70 pounds bottle of wine would be on par with the quality of the food, it's not, or rather, it is. Usually you cannot go wrong with a Dolcetto, here, I did. If I told my friend GianCarlo that he makes better Dolcetto for 5 euros a bottle, but you can sell passable stuff for 70 pounds in Scotland, he would drive from Langhe in his FIat Panda and wear a kilt happily. Bottom line: head ache, heart ache, stomach ache and your wallet will hurt too.

Fantastic food great service well worth a visit when you’re in St Andrews. Arguably more expensive than you would expect for an Italian restaurant.

Never had such a bad dining experience. When we phoned up to book we asked if there was a gluten free menu and they said yes so we went along. On arrival the foreign lady said there wasn’t a gluten free menu but maybe I could have a bit of steak or something! I explained I had coeliac disease so even the tiniest amount of gluten would have terrible consequences but she just stared blankly at me. I politely asked if there was anyone else there that knew about these things and she begrudgingly got another waitress who told me they could make anything gluten free. I asked how that could be done with things that have gluten in them. She said not to worry. Anyway I ordered my starter and main course and she confirmed they’d be marked to be made gluten free. I also chose options that shouldn’t have any gluten. Unfortunately I was glutened and have been throwing up for the last 48 hours. The staff need to be trained on coeliac disease. It’s not a gluten allergy or a gluten intolerance. It’s an autoimmune disease and so now my immune system will be attacking the lining of my intestines for the next 2 to 4 weeks until the immune response stops. Please educate them on cross contamination etc as I suspect a contaminated ladle was used etc. It was a Friday night and hardly any staff were on so the poor waitresses were ran off their feet. Had to ask 4 times over a 30 minute period for drinks to come for example and a meal that would typically take us an hour took over 2 hours. It was a busy Friday night to be fair. Food was very nice though I can say that but best avoid if you’re a coeliac.

This is a wonderful Italian, family run restaurant. Great Italian dishes together with wonderful staff. I would highly recommend the lasagne and the pasta dishes. This is my favourite Italian restaurant in St Andrews. Regards Farshad

Love Little Italy. My wife and I resided in St Andrews for 20 months and we had a standing Friday night reservation here. Door always phenomenal and the staff and owners were very kind and always recognized and accommodated us. Reservations are a must if you are in St Andrews and want to experience this outstanding restaurant.

Staff were great, really friendly and engaging. The food was amazing, all 3 courses were sensational. The steak and veal might be the best dish I've ever eaten.

Overall, it was a good experience with good food and really great staff. It was definitely on the pricey side, but all party members enjoyed the meal. Wasn't a fan of the dark atmosphere inside and the menu layout.

Sula was a tremendous server...handled our party of 12 with exceptional grace and ability. Food was terrific, wine was perfect, and the ambiance was second to none. Great experience all around.

Excellent meal. Probably the best veal we've ever had. Wide menu choice. Extremely good service . Waiting staff couldn't be more attentive. Very good value. No wonder this restaurant is always busy.

A special day (spent) in a special place ♦️

It was just a fantastic experience. Food is amazing, and it doesn't matter what time you visit. There's always a great atmosphere. Plus you won't have to share your table with dogs.

Maybe the worst experience we had in St Andrew’s . How can you treat clients this way . We didn’t even stay until the end of the diner ! The owner of the place was really bad to us ! We will never come back ! 😡

From the moment we entered till we left, everything was first class. Proper Italian food, excellent wine selection and knowledgeable, friendly and courteous staff. At first I thought it was a bit noisy but then realised it was atmosphere. We will definitely return.

The food was great but the service was actually a zero. The waiter not once asked us if everything was okay. My son ordered a beer midway thru our dinner and it took 40 minutes to arrive. Sure it was busy but that should not be an excuse. They are always busy so they should staff accordingly. This is not the first time eating her. My first experience was outstanding and I brought my son and sister here because of that. Big let down. Sorry but we will unfortunately not return

Service too long between the finished dish and the presentation of the dessert menu 30 minutes so no desserts. The dish was very good.

Visited here a few years ago and loved it - however this time ! Food was delicious but £24 for a pizza is just ridiculous- there is no justification for that ! Waiting staff were lovely but over worked and we waited over an hour for food to be served - I appreciate it was busy due to the golf All food is over priced for - it’s a pizza pasta place ! House wine £32 a bottle ! So be aware of prices - I rarely give a negative review but on this occasion I feel I have to let folk know what to expect

A good place to dine in Saint Andrews. Portions with quantity and good food. A bit ratty and not very good value for money. They don't let you share a plate without a financial supplement and they don't let you serve yourself the cheese either, they have to give it to you... A noisy place.

Ate here tonight and have to say it’s ok, good but just now great Pasta dishes were tasty, pizza pretty good but I guess I expected better for such a popular spot, my wife said three stars and daughter said four so we erred upwards to be fair Rob

The whole of St Andrews was very busy and everyone seemed to want to eat at the same time so we had a 45 minute wait for a table as we hadn’t booked in advance. It was well worth the wait. We had pizzas which were both delicious and enormous so there was no need for a starter or dessert. There was a great atmosphere and the staff were really attentive. We wouldn’t hesitate to go back again the next time we are in St Andrews (but we would definitely book!)

The food was excellent but the servers were forgetful and ignored requests for side plates/ parmesan cheese.

Food is delicious I cannot fault that at all. However disappointed that no high chairs are available. Our daughter had to stay in her pram which isn't really the nice family meal we wanted to have. Also very loud with lots people squeezed into the one side of the restaurant whilst the other side was totally empty.

Food amazing, experience shocking. I had booked at table for 9pm to celebrate my daughters 16th birthday. 2 adults 3 children. We arrived 10 minutes early, but then had to wait 40mins for our table to be cleared. It then took a further 30mins to get drinks. At this point I had to asked the drinks waiter to take our food order. Finally at 10.30 our starterrls arrived - kids were starving, but food as always, was exceptional. We ate quickly, and the table was cleared immediately as our main was ready to go ( no time to digest). However, only 4 of the 5 mains arrived. 10mins later we managed to get the attention of the busy staff and the final meal brought out. Kids were exhausted. Whole meal - starter and main was served and eaten between 10.30 and 11.30. No-one came to ask if we wanted a desert, the staff were too busy by this point laying tables for next day or heading out clubbing. So we again had to find someone and request to pay bill. Kids made it home for midnight. A very poor 16th birthday experience.

Really fabulous Italian restaurant in St Andrews. We went after a recommendation. It was packed with a great atmosphere, and when peaking at other tables, everyone's plates looked really tasty and homemade. We were a family table of 8, and our food did not disappoint. Definitely ten stars from all of us and we will back.

Noisy but perhaps that was because we were next to a table of shouty golfers. Food good but overpriced, wine ok but very overpriced. Staff professional but busy. Good attention to gf

Excellent Italian restaurant. It is located right in the center of St. Andrews. The manager is very kind and knows how to speak Italian. They cook well, very nice and welcoming environment. I recommend it!

A gem of an Italian restaurant tucked in an alley. This place serves great food and wine! Such a huge variety that we ate here every night during the Open LOL! Great service too. Reservations highly recommended as regulars know this is one of the best place to eat in St Andrews!

Nice food but prices are ridiculous. The wine list is extremely expensive for mediocre wine. Very noisy. Won't return.

I love Italian food and have tried many restaurants in the UK, some fantastic and some not so much, however, Little Italy is up there near the top. It’s lovely being greeted with a friendly face and attitude from the staff, before munching on your complimentary bread and sauces, choosing a drink from the extensive menu all while soaking in the great atmosphere. Sure there may be a few people around you talking about golf, but once you are tucking into your lovely food, you’ll soon forget all about that and imagine you are in the Italian version of St Andrews instead. Our chosen meal was ravioli and we loved it. The sauce was amazing, probably the best I’ve had in a restaurant and the garlic bread, it’s so tasty and cooked to perfection. Tbh we booked again in the same week just to make sure how good it was the first time wasn’t a fluke. It’s wasn’t. This place is perfect and is topped off by the limoncello shot at the end of the night.

I’m Writing a review to help people understand and to inform management on areas that need improvement. This is meant to be helpful. We waited two days to get a table for this - 1) Bread, olives and oil was brought out automatically, we did not order them, nice? The price was added to the bill! 2) We were in a company of 4 and only 3 starters arrived the 4th arrived after the other started had been consumed. 3) We waited 1.5 HOURS for our main course - IT NEVER ARRIVED! At 10pm we paid our bill and went home. Needless to say our needs were NOT met - Manager what star ratings would you give yourselves? Potential customer based on our experience what guarantees do you need from the management before eating here?

Thin crust pizza was excellent.

I had probably the best pasta of my life here! The smoked haddock mixed with creamy tomato sauce was to die for. The portion sizes are very generous, but I definitely finished it all 🤤

Absolutely lovely place. Great food, can't appreciate it more than I have these past few days since I had an amazing dinner with a friend there. Definitely would go there again. Kudos to the team.

Highly recommend! Service was great. A lot of choices on menu but our party of 4 loved the food. The pesto /bread starter plate was very good. It tasted fresh and authentic! The lasagne was good. I had a creamy pasta dish with bacon, spinach, tomatoes - was the best ever! A must try!!!

Me and my wife booked a table for two. From walking in and taken to our table with a big welcome smile.. the service and the staff fantastico. The food was another level to perfection. I would give this place 10/10 and would highly recommended.

My food was good, my wife's was bad, the tomato sauce seemed bad, prices were exorbitant, even in Edinburgh I have eaten cheaper and better in other Italians. I even heard people complain about the price when they sat down and read the menu. I honestly wouldn't go back.

Lovely food. The only downside was 6 people squashed into a table only suitable for 4 when there was plenty room in the restaurant.

Had a lovely dinner tonight as usual but wanted to say that we were served by Emma .Emma was very attentive and such a lovely girl.A credit to the restaurant. Hope to see her next time

One of the best Italian meals I have ever had. Really fantastic

Hands down the best pizza I've ever eaten not just in St Andrews, but possibly from any takeaway ever. Pizza is simple really, three main things, dough, sauce, toppings. All three of these were above and beyond. The dough you can tell is homemade recipe, sourdough which enhances flavour and also gives it a far superior crust. The sauce had a spicy kick to it but a deep flavour, almost Bolognese/Ragu like. Whatever it is you can tell it's not just some tomato puree squeezed outta tube and lazily brushed around the base. The pepperoni was cooked properly so obviously using a proper pizza oven, nothing worse than undercooked pepperoni that doesn't have that slight crunch to it. Also, allows it to release it's oil which increases flavour. The chicken and steak took the cake though, good, proper bits of chicken and the chunks of steak were melt in the mouth. Can't recommend enough, keep up all the good work guys will need to pop in with the missus for a proper meal one time.

Amazing food, can not fault the food at all. Staff were good too, reason for the 3 star is it was very bust and staff were clearly not able to keep up. Service took ages as well as waiting on drinks, condiments ect.

Hi as soon as you entered the premises you were looked after that set the night ambiance spot on staff checking everything alright as for the food outstanding as a chef myself it was perfect timing produce and curtesy staff made it a great place to go if in St Andrews you must go 4

First time back after a while & appreciate costs have gone up, but the scale of increase in prices was a surprise. Food was always great, so wanted to give the benefit of the doubt. Sadly the service was very inattentive & slow on a quiet night. A long list of cocktails, but no non-alcoholic ones at all seemed a missed trick too. Still decent, but no longer a standout & the service needs to match the prices.

Arrived with 4 friends 6 minutes prior to opening. Turned away as told wouldn't be safe to allow us to sit ! Said just mopped the floor. Floor was dry. To our benefit we found a lovely resturant around the corner with fabulous service. 👌 Little Italy lost out on a good amount of money as we had lunch and 2 bottles of wine and cocktails.

Nice italian atmosphere restaurant with good food. The portions were large, which makes up for the what high prices. The bread given as a complementary pre-starter was fresh and delicious with a nice olive oil and balsamic vinegar dip or pesto dip. We had a focaccia for starter, and the mains pasta, pizza & an order of fish was delicious and of good size. We had a good espresso for desert which was topped of with a complementary shot of limoncello. Very nice. The service was professional. We had a good time even though the prices for both food and wine were somewhat steap, I didn’t mind as the food was good with nice service.

Nice restaurant, good food, friendly staff. Would have given a 5 star rating but the prices were a bit high. £7 for a small bottle of unknown Italian lager is a bit extreme.

Why Little Italy is not higher up the rankings is beyond me. Dined here on Saturday 11th November. The restaurant was busy so I was glad that we had booked. The only downside was that the tables are close together, not a huge amount of space to get in & out. However that should not detract from the quality. The Bruschetta Italiana to start was superb, fresh, tasty and a good size. Certainly enough to share. Mains included the Lasagna (great portion, piping hot and very tasty), Pizza and Seafood spaghetti. All to a very high standard and great value for money. Will definitely return when in St Andrews.

Firstly we arrived 7 minutes early for our booked table to be told they weren’t open yet. They showed us to our seat but we had to wait the 7 minutes before someone came over to the table. We were given two menus lunch menu and the a la carte. The lunch menu said one or two courses. We ordered mains only and took desserts off the a la carte thinking that we be included in the lunch menu but it wasn’t. The main courses were big and we couldn’t finish them. The wine we ordered was £10/12 for a large glass of wine, 175ml. Not very big. Our dessert was ice cream with expresso and a shot of amaretto cost £12 The total bill for two people was £90! For lunch! Will not being going back again

Having visited Little Italy several times when we were living in Fife, we always enjoyed the food. On our return as tourists this year, I was alarmed to find such highly inflated prices, for nice but fairly average food. £23 for a pizza, really? The service was below average, given that two tables which arrived after us were served well before us. Sadly, this will have been our last visit.

Waitresses were disinterested students putting in their time and going through the motions. Waited 45 minutes before they took our order. We asked for bread for the table three times but it never came. Food was very good. Pasta portions are too big. I lived in Italy for 7 years and can say that the food is authentic but too large a portion. No offer of grappa or limoncello come si deva in Italia. Very expensive. Two people. One starter and one pasta course each. Water for the table. No alcohol. £88.

Don’t buy a gift voucher for Little Italy!!!! Had been given one as a lovely birthday present only to find you couldn’t use it against the set 2 course lunch menu so had to buy off main menu which for lunch is way over priced. . When you pay £50 for a voucher why is this not treated like cash to be used against anything… Also £10 for a 125ml glass of Chianti is steep. Food whilst nice , not worth it.

The food was very tasty, but quite pricey. To me it seems a bit inhospitable to apply an extra charge if you would only have a starter as a main, even though we ordered some other side dishes for the table. I also ordered a small wine but was charged a large. It all felt a bit too much money oriented.

The food and atmosphere were good but it was terrible value for money. I understand that all prices are increasing with inflation, but £22 for 5 pieces of spinach and ricotta ravioli is shocking. I've been going to this restaurant for over 10 years but the prices do not reflect the portion sizes. I won't be going back.

The lovely restaurant looks low key from the alley but is full of energy inside. We did not have a reservation but were lucky to be seated at the seats near the bar. The decor is full of taste, same as the food! The service was tentative. Will definitely come back again.

A week long golf trip started with dinner at this place. We came back 2 more times that week. The food and service is fantastic. I would highly recommend. Do make a reservation, its reputation is well deserved.

Good food. Good options of drinks. The red on the walls, although nice at first, got the sentiment of "crowded" space. And with more customers later on, it really got crowded...

Delicious food! We were lucky enough to arrive just as someone didn't show up for their reservation. The best pasta carbonara I've ever had. The service, atmosphere and food were outstanding.

Family favourite great for celebrations or post golf

First class food and wine with excellent service . Have been to St Andrews many times , but this is our first visit to Little Italy. We will definitely go back. There are cheaper places to eat , but this is easily the best I know in the area . Very relaxing and well worth a visit .

We stopped here for a lovely lunch, the service was exceptional and the food was delicious. We enjoyed a starter to share, mains were lasagne (amazing), Rob had chicken with salmon and prawns and he said that was a combo he hadn’t had before - thoroughly w joyed it. Washed down with a couple of rose wines and bottles of beer. Hope to dine here again soon. X
