Incontri Dunfermline in Fife

A beautifully designed authentic Italian feel from as soon as you walk in. The place has gorgeous decor. Very clean, tidy and pristine. All tables were dressed appropriately with wine glasses and a set of cutlery. Staff were very polite and friendly, they gave enough time to order everything without making the experience feel rushed. Quite a few customers in at the time so rather busy inside, however saying that could still hear the table talk so it wasn’t too loud at all. The spicy meatballs main was absolutely gorgeous, cooked to perfection and the fact could watch the chefs cook it was just a bonus. The cake in the sticky toffee paired with the ice-cream just melts in your mouth entirely. For my first visit here they definitely left that bar high for food quality and for a very decent price too! If I visit again in future I’m going to try the other dessert that stood out to me (the strawberry one!) highly recommend visiting this restaurant if you’re in the area. Side note; the stairs to the toilet in my opinion felt quite steep. Heels wouldn’t be ideal at all! There are handrails down though. Ladies toilets there is only 2 cubicles with 2 sinks. They do match the interior feel of the restaurant though.

Well run family restaurant food was the best I have had in a long time. Staff very helpful and friendly. A relaxing atmosphere.

Salad and desserts were lovely. Disappointed with the fillet steak which I asked to be cooked rare and came out more cooked than medium with no blood and only slightly pink in middle. Sent it back for the chef to argue with waiting staff it was rare who returned it to table, attempted to send back a second time for restaurant to say they did not have any other fillet steaks (at 6pm) and I could take it or leave it. Won’t return due to this.

Not the best experience to be honest, was me and my partner and when we arrive we had 3 bartender and a few waiters in front of us and no one neither said hi to us, after few minutes a girl behind the bar told us that they was going to serve us in a minute. When we went to the table we notice that we had to scream for talking with each other because of all the noises. When the waitress came to take our order I ask her how they was going to make the carbonara but she was not able to answer me so I end up taking something else for make sure to eat something decent at least. We ordered one portion of arancini that was more supplì than arancini, one portion of calamari fritti that wasn't fresh and quite rubbery and when we let the waiter know he seems to just doesn't really care. The calzone was fine and the pasta was not super bad, was supposed to be with a mushroom cream but was more like a mushroom broth. Overall quite expensive for the portion and the quality we end up going to Tesco for grab something else to eat. Not a real Italian restaurant and not much caring about their service, we will not come back

Always a great meal at Incontri. We booked in advance as it was a family Birthday celebration. Although it was a Wednesday night, most of the tables were taken and it was a nice cosy atmosphere. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. Food was amazing as always, and we had three courses. One of our favourite places to eat in Dunfermline for special occasions. We will definitely be back again soon!

Visited for a family dinner and was very disappointed compared to when we ate here a few months ago. It took 30mins for our order to be taken, no- one looked near us, I ordered the Panzerotti Funghi in a half portion, when it came I was so disappointed, 3 filled parcels of pasta on my plate, my daughters kids meal was bigger then to be charged £11 for it. I the. Thought I’d try the sticky toffee pudding , ot was awful, not sure what the taste was but certainly not sticky toffee, it was like a burnt taste! We could tell they wanted our table back, waiters keeping on checking at the table for empty glasses, when I did ask for the bill, the waitress stood over me as I looked at and then brought out the card machine, I wasn’t even able to check the bill and then to add final Insult they started clearing the glasses off the table when my husband still had beer and my daughter had her juice. I did mention this to the lady who seemed to be either in charge/owner that I was disappointed that we were being rushed out the door, after all it took 30mins for someone to take our order and yet we were being rushed out as you only get 1hr 45mins for the table. We certainly wont be back which is a shame.

From first point of contact by phone on Friday night 20/9 at 4pm looking for a table that night we knew we would not be disappointed with this restaurant and we certainly were not! We had tried to book online and found we could only get a table after 8pm, a bit too late for us. We were offered a table at 6.45 for a 1.5 hour slot. When I explained we like to take longer than that over dinner we were told this would not be a problem and so it transpired to be. We had excellent service, delightful, well presented, value for money Italian cuisine charmingly served by engaged people keen to make our evening a success. Thank you to all involved for taking that care and doing Scotland proud as a quality restaurant. We’ll be back and may even make a special trip from our Scottish Borders home just to enjoy more at your lovely venue. 👌

Food was lovely. The main course should have been a bigger portion for the money but it was all good. The muscles in particular were great.

One of our group found a piece of plastic in their main course. We made two members of staff aware of this, however they couldn't have cared less.

My family and I visited this restaurant while on holiday from canada. The restaurant was beautiful inside and the service was prompt and so friendly! And the food was so delicious!! Our whole family loved their meal. One of the best dining experience we have ever had!!

Everything perfect! It was sooooooooo good like in Italy!

My wife and I were invited out for dinner by our two long-time friends whilst we were up visiting from Leicester, and this is the place they booked. They really rated the place and on entering we could see why. It looked very classy, and there was just a very nice feel to the place. We were shown to our seats by a lovely member of staff and given the menus. We ordered drinks which were soon brought to the table and then the waiter took our food orders. We didn’t have long to wait for the starters, which looked and tasted fabulous. The main courses were soon at the table after the waiter cleared away the plates from the first course. Again the food was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. The two courses we had more than filled all of us, so we unfortunately had no room left for a sweet course, which was regrettable as I for one would have loved to have tried what was on offer, but there was no way I could have fitted anything else in. Everything about this dining experience was top-notch, and I would definitely eat here again if we were in the area. I would highly recommend this eatery.

Visited today as a group of friends. The service could not have been better. Not intrusive but checking all the right things at the right time. The food quality is outstanding. I had Fritto Misto and the batter was so light! My friends steak was cooked to perfection, and my other two friends main courses were also high quality. Desserts were delicious but also light. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic Italian dining experience.

Food is very poor, our veal was very over cooked. Air conditioning was leaking and had dripped all over my wife's coat, didn't notice until we left. In our opinion it has gone downhill dramatically.

I can't review this restaurant, the food and the staff highly enough, easily the best Italian I've experienced out with Italy and is consistently excellent. We've been so many times, different contexts, just the 2 of us, with family and as a part of our pre wedding plans. The staff are attentive, friendly, fun, the food is amazing and the venue and atmosphere beautiful. We spend a lot of time in Italy, this is the next best thing! Congrats to all, a fantastic experience!!!

I had a really nice meal here. Lovely restaurant with excellent service. The restaurant has a good selection of dishes and I'd be happy to go again if I was to visit Dunfermline. I chose the seafood risotto and tiramisu, both were lovely. The toilets are two floors down but are very clean.

The best Italian restaurant in Dunfermline. Authentic and tasty! Whatever dish you order, get the broccoli side dish, it's unreal! I could eat that on its own, that's how good it is. My only criticism would be the strawberry desert didn't have many strawberries in it - a few more would have been perfect.

It also offers gluten-free and vegan options for pizzas at a very good price!

Food was ok but a bit bland - I had mushroom pate which was fairly tasteless and my pizza base was good but the pizza lacked seasoning. My husbands risotto was not creamy and lacked taste. The service was rushed. We barely had time to scan the menu before the waiter appeared to take our orders and tried to clear our starter plates before we had finished. We were in and out within the hour - not the Italian way at all! We were only given a 1.5 hour slot anyway so I guess they wanted to make sure we stuck to that!

Seating is at the back so restaurant looked empty when we arrived and almost put us off but it was quite busy at the back. Service was quick but rushed - we didn't have much chance to look at the menu before the waiter arrived to take our order and then tried to take my husband's starter before he finished. We were only given a 1.5 hour 'slot' so no wonder they rushed us! Not the place to go if you want a leisurely meal so not at all Italian in that respect which is all about slow eating! I had mushroom pate which was ok but quite tasteless and my husband's aubergine parmigiana was scalding hot but also bland. My pizza base was great but the topping lacked seasoning and my husband's risotto was not creamy and quite dry. The waiter looked surprised when I asked for a dressing with my salad. I would eat there again and it was quite reasonable but not not outstanding food

I returned to Incontri and was greeted by the usual warm hospitality I receive anytime I visit. It really is like a slice of the Mediterranean in the middle of Fife. As it was a Sunday I decided to opt for something different from the Italian dishes and ordered the Sunday roast. I was wondering with it being an Italian restaurant what the roast would be like and I sure wasn't disappointed. It was a plateful of a hearty sized peice of roast chicken (portion size is important to me!) with a selection of fresh vegetables. I've always had a tasty meal here but after this one I decided next time I visit Incontri I may make sure its a Sunday!

Food is very good albeit slightly on the dear side for Italian cuisine. As the establishment is busy, you are allocated a time slot by which you have to be out by. I don't like this if you are wanting to have a few drinks after you meal.

We had booked a table for 9 was a Sunday evening didn't expect it to be heaving with customers but other than 2 other people it was dead! Most of us had ordered the 3 course Sunday roast wasn't sure as it's an Italian 🤔 we were starving so went ahead anyway..a few of us had the prawn starter along with a hair in one so was sent back.. the lady in question was offered a free drink which she never actually got..and to be honest it was just 5 prawns on a plate with some sauce and a slice of bread nothing special..as for the main the chicken was nice but jeezus you could of knocked someone out with the Yorkshire pudding lol it was solid..think it had been leftover from earlier in the day and just reheated. It was same for us all.. pudding was sticky toffee with scoop of ice cream can't really go wrong with that! Guy who served us was very pleasant but tbh as an Italian i think stick to Italian food and maybe if serving the Sunday roast would of been nice to see an Italian twist on it but hey ho 💁‍♀️ Don't think I'd rush back anytime soon. And yes I know it was a Sunday evening but I'd expect the food to be consistently good throughout the day regardless of what time it was! I was so looking forward to having a meal here as the reviews sounded amazing.. maybe we jst got a bad service i don't know but certainly put me of ever booking a table!

Very good Italian restaurant in the heart of Dunfermline. This was my first visit and would definitely return next till in near the the area. I had the house pate and it was more like a liver parfait, very smooth. Next came the saltimbocca. It was excellent, served with potatoes and vegetables.

Food was excellent, staff warm and friendly, getting the 4 stars because they ran out of a premium beer on a Saturday night mmmmm

Been along a few times, the food is fantastic! Nice selection of drinks and the cocktails are lovely. Sometimes a small wait trying to get someone's attention for the bill but aside from that cannot fault the service in the slightest, super friendly staff everytime we've been will continue to be back!

This is a really tough review. The service and experience I cannot fault. The way they managed my mum's 70th was spot on. Fabio and the management especially are top of there game. The food is great however the down side we ordered 3 calzones and the amount off filling inside was as one bit of pepperoni and a little bit of ham, one off them had nothing inside. Probably the biggest let down of the night. I will probably be back with my wife and child so let's see if they can change this to a 5

Table at the door- asked if we could sit at back and said no, but there was 5 tables empty. The draft was very uncomfortable. I ordered vegetarian pansotti and one of them and fish in it. extremely dangerous if I was allergic, unacceptable. The waiter said for the “inconvenience” dessert would be on the house. Once asked for the bill he apologised and said the boss changed it to a 10% discount. The owner / manager himself came at the table saying he’d complain to the company that makes the filled pasta, simply not enough as this could have hurt someone badly! They were lucky I do actually like fish - but I didn’t appreciate my meal being mixed. The dessert thing was a very poor and greedy move!

Travelled over to Dunfermline for the day with my family to visit the historic sights and not being from the area, we had no idea where to go for something to eat. A quick google brought up Incontri and the reviews looked great. We love an Italian restaurant so we decided to try it out - we were not disappointed. Our waiter Giuliano provided great service and nothing was too much trouble - my mum wanted to combine different elements of two pasta dishes on the menu and he was so helpful and obliging. The dish ended up being delicious - I had a steak with the parmesan/truffle fries, and my brother had chicken in a cream sauce with the same type of fries. I also had an Espresso Martini with my lunch and it was one of the best I've had. All the food was amazing and so tasty. We enjoyed our meals that much that we are considering the two and a half hour trip back to visit again.. highly recommend and one of the best meals we've had in an Italian!

I and my family had a most enjoyable evening at the delightful venue. The food was delicious and service excellent. Fabio the owner was friendly, welcoming and his humour is the icing on the cake. I will definitively revisit the restaurant when I am in Dunfermline again.

First visit and won't be the last. Fantastic venue, very friendly and helpful staff with great menu choices. The risotto was exceptional, pizza fantastic and meatballs delicious. Food prices are very reasonable also, although drinks prices are a little steep. Highly recommended and so glad we finally found this place.

This is the second visit in a month where we have been unhappy with the service. The first was for a set lunch which is good value if you are careful with your selection. The main pasta dish was dreadful some of it was edible but half had crispy inedible pasta. (Microwaved)?We complained and were given a sorry!! Today we were brought the wrong order and then had to ask for pizza knives for the pizza which was very dry and lacking in topping. The staff are quick to take the order and rush the wrong food to the table then quickly ask if you want the bill. Maybe pay more attention to detail. The restaurant wasn't busy!! There is another pizzeria in town which we will try next time.

The two stars are for the kitchen staff and food. Food was good. Not amazing but definitely a nice meal. However, atmosphere was poor. Very dark and slow service. When we were seated, we requested a different table due to my husbands hearing impairment. This was accommodated however after this we had little service from FOH team. We waited a long time for someone to come and ask if we wanted desert, more drinks or even the bill. My husband needed support in the toilet as he has a range of health needs. We both used the disabled toilet which was half accessible but was able to deal with. During this time, we had a lady attempt to open the door and noticed it was locked. She then continued to try the door and allow her young daughter to scream through the door and constantly try the handle which caused a lot of anxiety. When we finished, opened the door, we were moved out of the way, tutted at and the manager moaned at us telling us to pay. We were going to go back to the table, finish our drinks and decide if we wanted desert. We didn’t get this choice. We were discriminated against, as I needed to help my husband. Hidden disabilities are real and we did not need someone questioning if we were going to pay or not. The manager was very abrupt, rude and dismissive. He became defensive. This was not the right way to deal with this situation and unfortunately will not be back despite the food being good. I would like a response to this as I feel discriminated and put into an uncomfortable position which has caused a lot of anxiety.

Bullet summary of my thoughts... The good - The staff were friendly - The restatuant was very clean and easy on the eyes - Nice atomosphere and lighting The not so good - Slow service on weekends (expect 25 minutes for a drink) - No water offered for the table - The food was bland and definitely not reminicent of traditional Italian food. - The arancini tasted like it'd been frozen and the contents were tasteless. No crisp to the breadcrumbs on the outside either. The bruchetta lacks basil and seasoning. My partner had arrabbiata with what looked like a giant chicken nugget next to it. The arrabbiata pasta itself had no spice or subtle kick to it (which arrabbiata should) and tasted merely like pasata/mass produced tomato sauce. - Overall, it was a very average meal. I wouldn't come back here. If you like subtle tasting food and don't get out often then you might like it.
