Lovely food and good prices with the lunch pasta offer making it reasonable for a family of four.

SUCH delicious food. Highly recommend going here instead of Zizzis as its family run instead of a chain. Everything is delicious and cooked so well with lots of flavour and service is so friendly. I recommend the pasta, salads and definitely the fried zucchini as it’s the crispiest I have ever had and the best! Also the tiramisu is to die for. Thank you! (And thank you for the love hearts at the end)

Delightful Italian restaurant in the heart of St Albans

A friend's birthday was a good excuse to try L'italiana again and we were both very impressed. The service is first-class: friendly and efficient. It is so very nice to order food knowing that it has been freshly cooked and not heated up in some microwave; the soups here are outstanding, for example.

I have been coming here for years, written several glowing reviews also and brought many friends and family members here , however I’ve got to sadly report that my experience has been shaken due to undercooked food being served up that I’ve unfortunately had as well as others who reported the same issue… I won’t be returning and I’ll no longer be recommending this once incredible place :-(

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Litaliana, and I must say, it was an absolute delight! From the moment I stepped inside, I was transported to the charming streets of Italy, and the experience only got better from there. The ambiance of the restaurant is warm and inviting, with soft lighting and a cozy Italian-inspired decor. The staff greeted me with genuine smiles and made me feel right at home. Their knowledge and passion for Italian cuisine were evident, and they were more than happy to recommend dishes and provide insight into the ingredients and flavors. Truly amazing experience!

We have returned to this restaurant multiple times as the food is amazing. I enjoyed the special starter of calves liver with pancetta, so tender and then followed by the seafood Spaghetti Scoglio di Sorrento which is served in its own Swan shaped foil wrap and is stunning! I would definitely recommend eating here

One starter very good but expensive at £12.50. One not good. Both mains, pizza and fillet steak excellent. Desert of crème brûlée not good - too cold and stodgy. Staff excellent

I used to eat here pre-pandemic and the food was great. I think they may have had frozen pizza base's the American hot I had was awful. It's a shame also the chef dropped bottles of water over me and not even a sorry from him. I would steer clear of this joint there are plenty of better eateries in St Albans.

This place is possibly one of the best Italian food places we’ve ever visited. It started off with lovely friendly staff who were very attentive and made you feel welcome the minute you walk in the doors. They sit you, where you’d like, and give you a few minutes to peruse the menus before asking for your drinks order. The place itself is quite small, spacious small I might add but that adds to the family home vibe that this place gives you. We ordered and within 15 minutes our food was delivered and it was gorgeous, one pizza and one calzone was ordered and we haven’t admit that it was the freshest and best tasting piece of Italy we’ve had outside of Italy itself. We had two cocktails with our lunch, and those were packed full of flavour and a nifty hit of alcohol - always helps a gorgeous meal go down well. Specials are available daily which is on a nice chalkboard which is happily brought to your table for the hard of seeing distances (like us haha). Definitely a place we’ll revisit when in St. Albans again, please visit, I guarantee you won’t regret it.

L’Italiana is my favourite Italian restaurant. I live 30 miles away from there, but it's always worth going to eat there. Pizza and pasta are the best around. Service is great and the place is perfect.

Happened to be in St Albans with my wife and our dog. We were looking for a restaurant where to have lunch that allows dogs, so we noticed L'Italiana at a short walk from the city centre. We sat on the terrace as we had our dog and ordered 1 starter, 1 pizza and one rissoto. They were all amazing, a bit too much seafood in the risotto, but overall it was good. Thank you Vlad for the service. We'll be back.

Popped in for a lunch special £9.90, wish now we hadn’t bothered!! My pizza diavolo was THE worst pizza I’ve ever eaten (not too much of it, thankfully). Swimming in oil with no flavour and undercooked cheese. Worse than any supermarket frozen pizza or fast food delivery service!! My wife ordered pasta with mushrooms and asparagus….. she loved the flavour BUT the asparagus was raw!!!! If you are happy to do a lunch deal then we still want quality food. We definitely will not be returning and left it 24 hours before leaving this feedback due to being so disappointed.

This was a date night evening with my partner. We were hosted by Kosta who started with recommendations which were spot on and greatly appreciated. He then paired that up with a main course again very well recommended by Kosta. Kosta from start to finish was a great host. He was also on hand to make sure we were satisfied at the right times in the right places. I believe Kosta is the reason we would visit again as well as the good food, ambience and location for the area. Thank you. See you again.

Beautiful food, staff super friendly and accommodating. Lovely lady who looked after us gave us some great recommendations about St Albans having recently moved to the area. Also gave us a courtesy after dinner traditional drink, lovely touch. Would 100% recommend a visit here. We’ll definitely visit again.

Food is taking a long time to arrive and not very tasty. Small, crowded restaurant. The pizza gentleman was also a waiter. There are no highchairs for babies. We left home smelling like smoke as there is not much ventilation.

Absolutely loved L'Italiana, went there recently for lunch and I had a simple pasta that was anything but simple in terms of taste and quality - wonderful! Attentive service and warm atmosphere, can't wait to go back!

Probably the nicest Italian food I’ve had!! It was all so fresh, full of flavour and not dry.. The pasta was cooked perfect and so was the garlic bread pizza. I saw other tables have pizza which looked amazing! Blueberry cheesecake was also super yummy. 10/10.

My favourite Italian restaurant in St albans.

We went on the spur of the moment so did not book a table. Although it was very busy they managed to find a table for us. The menu was extensive and I had had glowing recommendations from friends but I think my wife and I chose the wrong options. It was well presented and prepared but didn't knock us out. We would certainly go again if in the area but would choose something different.

30th August 2023 Entering soon after opening we were surprised to find the restaurant almost full. Though there were a couple of tables and we were shown to a small one. I was even more surprised to find a swan being carried gracefully toward our table and placed in front of Mummy Debra! A finger bowl was also placed down for washing sticky fingers. The enticing aroma of shellfish steam into our faces as Mummy carefully undid the tin foil to reveal spaghetti with muscles, clams and prawns all in their shells. The beautiful white whine and herby liquor was delightful. Mummy wanted to lick the tin foil afterwards but I persuaded her not to! For under nine pounds, this lunchtime special was definitely worth it. There is a step up into the restaurant. I forgot to ask if they have a ramp. What a forgetful teddy bear I am!

What a delightful Italian restaurant with freshly prepared dishes and a specials menu. I'm guessing the pizza is amazing, because it seemed to be on every table. We however opted for fish and pasta. Both of which were delicious. It also seemed to be an extremely busy place, and we were lucky to get a table, because a little later, people were getting turned down. so perhaps a good idea to make a reservation. The menu has great choices so if you're veg/non-veg you will find something!

Excellent as always. We have a full three course meal even at lunchtime. Busy and lively but quick service. Kosta and Anna looked after us. The food and wine superb. Good deal at lunchtime also and many customers going for a single course with the offer.

Walk pass this restaurant on Saturday, lucky enough to get a table for 3 but need to return by 1:30. If you don’t have booking chances of getting a table is very low on weekend. Food was amazing, we enjoy all the dishes including the starters. Out of the 3 main the risotto was most impressive, it was really tasty, prawns you can tell were fresh so as the other seafood. They also have a daily special which I definitely would try next time. Service was excellent, staffs were very friendly, and I’m surprised that they change our plate and culinary after starters. Strongly recommended but make sure you make a booking.

Have been coming here for years and it's always great fresh pizza and a cosy atmosphere. I had the garlic bread with mozzarella to start (very big portions) and the Diavolla pepperoni pizza for my main. We also ordered a salmon pasta which was quite nice, but nothing unique. On the whole, tasty and would definitely recommend if you just want good Italian food.

Went here with my friends so booked a table the day before. When I got there i was told I never booked although I had proof of calling the day before. The lady who greeted us was rude and told me I never booked a table when it was just that another member of staff forgot to note it. The food was nice but i was dissatisfied with how i was treated.

Disgusting service. We have tried to sit and order only the desserts as we have been eaten our dinner . They do not serve dessert only so they literally kicked us out. We will never come to this place again . Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!!

We had such a bad experience! I do not recommend this place. The food was bland! The waiter was rude a friend didn't hear him properly but he has to be polite!!! The dip for calamari is good apart from that all are unseasoned!!!

Visited L'Italiana with family and was pleasantly surprised. The staff were so welcoming upon arrival, and the service was very efficient, quick, and friendly. The decor and atmosphere of the place is really cosy, and we really liked the framed napkins with customers' drawings. The restaurant also offers outdoor seating, which is on the pedestrian street. There is a wide range of food to choose from on the menu from many different types of pizza, pasta, risotto, meat and fish dishes, and many more! Everything we ordered tasted amazing, and all the portion sizes were very big. We would recommend!

Great pizza in a cosy restaurant...eat outside, in the front with the oven, or in the back. Room. we got there at opening so not too busy, only reason for the 4* atmosphere, but suspect when full its rock and roll...

Tasty Italian food with sunny outdoor seating on the pedestrian street. Service is efficient, quick and friendly. Lots of options on the menu. Pizzas are thin base, handmade and very tasty. About average price for the area, standard topping pizza around £12. On Mon-Fri lunch they have some offers. Check opening times as they may close after lunch sittings. I went on a Monday around 1:30pm, it was busy but with a couple of tables free. I'd definitely make it a regular if I lived in St Albans!

Really nice place with decent food. Not a great selection of beers as 2 or so from memory. Pizza's, salads and various starters were really good. I would recommend this place to italian food lovers.

Visited L'Italiana for dinner with friends, and enjoyed a really tasty three-course meal. The food felt very authentic, and the service was friendly and very prompt too. Three courses, alcoholic drinks plus coffee came to £50 per person which wasn't bad value. We liked the decor with framed napkins featuring guests' hand-drawn pictures - the sort of thing you'd see in Italy! Recommended.

Bad experience. The pasta was tasteless and service no more than average. We’ve been here multiple times before…but never again!!
