Lissome in Hackney

This is one of the places that has a soul. The coffee and cookies are good, but that's not what makes the place special. It's the refurbished cinema seats, plants that someone cares for, a pinch of artistic chaos around and a friendly neighbourhood atmosphere that the staff makes.

If you’re Asian, stay away. Overpriced, overhyped boilerplate food. Overcooked rice (basically congee) and one-dimensional dishes. You can tell this was made by two white people who visited china… Service was slow, with dishes arriving separately (veggies long before rice, long before fish) and portions were embarrassingly small, even for a small plates style joint. We left still hungry, grumpy with a considerably lighter wallet.

We had a really lovely time at this hotel. The service provided by Catalin was absolutely exceptional! He went above and beyond in checking in to ensure we had a fantastic stay. The breakfast was delicious and the chef was particularly helpful in talking specific dietary requirements in consideration. The actual hotel was beautifully decorated, very clean and spacious. My favourite part was the swimming pool which was well thought out in terms of lighting and the fact that it was a heated pool! All in all X and excellent hotel and we would definitely visit again.

Always great food, atmosphere and the loveliest staff. Not just a good restaurant, but a fantastic experience every time too.
