Don’t like leaving a bad review but we came here for a birthday (3 of us) and were completely neglected by the waitress serving us. She avoided eye contact when we tried to get her attention. When she brought the dessert menus over she just came over, left them on the table without saying anything and was about to walk away. The waiter who came to get our dessert order was lovely but half the time we were just waiting for someone to come to our table. The food was good but service was poor tonight.

Amazing! I had the rump steak and it’s the best steak I’ve ever had! My sister had the black lock burger and she loved it! My mom and her mate had sharing platter and it looked amazing!

One of the best steak dinners we’ve ever had! The waiters were great too so friendly and helpful. Good vibes all round and super generous sizes.

It's noisy and busy which usually puts me off a place (it was Friday night to be fair) but god damn if it wasn't delicious. The lamb ribs especially were fantastic, the steak was cooked perfectly medium, and the sides/sauces complimented it fantastically. Will definitely come again.

I had a fantastic time in Blacklock. I was travelling for work from Ireland and was a solo diner sat at the bar where I had a great evening. The bar servers were very personable and engaged with me for the evening, advising on their favourite dishes from the menu and resolving some confusion with my sauce choices while also getting to know me over the evening. Their cocktail offering was delicious and they seemed to really care that I had a good time in their establishment. If you’re ever in Ireland again, hit me up for a pint Harry!

Just incredible. Never found a Sunday Roast to beat my mums but this is special. Meat was all cooked to perfection. What a treat and great surprise.

Had a late lunch/ early dinner, with an entree, main and two cocktails. Everything was superb, loved their Bloody Mary especially. Staff friendly and helpful. Went in a small group and were lucky to get in as walkins, so do make sure that you make a booking in advance to ensure entry!

Delicious food and great ambience

We had a great time for my sister's 31st birthday. James was a fantastic waiter and really made the service feel extra special, if you come to eat here and get served by James you will be in for a treat. Even though there is a black lock closer to home where I live in canary wharf, because of James excellent service I would make the journey to come here the next time I want to eat at black lock

Absolutely love Blacklock! Went to Blacklock Soho before and really enjoyed the atmosphere, excellent service and delicious food. We decided to try out the Shoreditch branch and again no notes. Beautiful meat (we had the rump), the side dishes are incredibly tasty and the prices are okay.

We had the best time yesterday at this place because of the excellent service, warm people, and amazing steak (Rump cap) recommended by our server. The steak I think was the best I've ever had so far, the Blacklock gravy went very well with it. Absolutely loved our Lemon Drop cocktail as well we had to order for a round two. Our server especially was an absolute delight, she recommended stuff from the menu with full elaborate descriptions and her friendly personality made it so easier for us to communicate as well. We were also celebrating our birthdays there and we got a dessert on the house with a very nice happy birthday singalong from everyone there. I am not a huge fan of white chocolate because of the sweetness but the white chocolate cheesecake was also quite nicely balanced, it wasn't too sweet and the consistency was perfect.

Typical and very well-kept place, excellent food with an excellent choice of meat. The amazing desserts made by them! Very friendly and helpful staff!

If you’re looking for good meat this is a geat restaurant. We got the ‘all in’ where you get the meat and can select sides, we loved all the sides and had a great time here.

Most importantly, the steak was fantastic. All the food was, as was the wine. The service was also excellent - I'm giving 5* despite being given an incorrect side and told we had ordered it. The atmosphere was nice overall but it got pretty loud later in the evening.

I went there last sunday and wolfed down the beat taating roast of my life. We ordered the all-in for 3, which was a mixture of beef, lamb and pork. It was quite a precise amount of food but the plating made it look of epic proportions. Beef was aged for 55 days. i must say the trimmings were absolutely delicious: perhaps the best tasting potatoes and carrots i have had in a while, cooked to perfection. It would have been a bliss with a bit more meat but i do eat a lot.

Sunday Roasts on Sunday, Steaks on any other days. Nothing else can be said, it’s just that good…

Me and my friend had really good time here on 5th Aug 2024, I know it is so hard to book the table for Monday cuz there is happy Monday big chops deal. I thought it is gonna be super busy and we don't expect the service being that good by James, he is friendly and kind which we never been treated like that. We had fun time and all the food are good! A valid Sunday Roast in this restaurant of a famous London chain. The beef was really tasty and moist at the right point, while the pork was drier. The Yorkshire puddings and trimmings are good. The potatoes however could have been crispier. The staff was very kind and professional. The service was very quick. We booked in the evening for the next morning without problems, I still recommend booking.

The Sunday roast was everything I hoped for! The waitress even brought me kimchi because I needed some probiotics. Bloody Mary was yummy and strong. Would definitely recommend a reservation.

Such a great place. I came here alone spontaneously while in the area for work, and although they were completely booked up managed to squeeze me in at the end of the bar. It was definitely the best roast I’ve had since I can remember, and there was a great atmosphere. The service and staff that work there were lovely and you could tell they were happy there. Seeing that they make so many of their cocktail ingredients from scratch I tried a few. This Rose Spritz was my favourite! The Summer Negroni was pretty special too. Thanks for making me feel welcome while away from home :)

Impeccable service, came here for a Sunday roast for all of the goodness of the gravy. Lamb leg was flavorful, can't say the same of the Black Angus sirloin "OG" unfortunately. Potatoes were a little tough on the outside skin but Yorkshire pudding and vegetables are on point.

Very friendly service in a cozy atmosphere. For starters, ricotta was amazing. We had rib eye and sirloin as steak and both were very well cooked. White chocolate cheesecake is a must to try!

We celebrated my birthday here with friends and family. The Sunday roast was out of this world! Tender meats, Yorkshire puddings the size of a plate with buckets of the best gravy I've ever had, and of course roast potatoes that were so good we fought for the last one. Lol. Then to top it all was the yummiest and most generous portion of cheese cake ever! We left with very happy and full tummies. Highly recommended.

Fantastic chophouse - highly recommend the All In with a range of different chops and ciabatta bread. On the expensive side but worth the money. Ambience is great.

We had an excellent chop, chips and braised gem lettuce. Delicious. Our waitress was outstanding.

Steak House style taverne / pub. Ambiance très agréable tamisée . Accueil chaleureux et explications de la carte. Spécialité les viandes . On peux choisir la pièce au poids en fonction de ce qui reste sur le tableau noir ou une pièce de viande à prix fixe. Il faudra rajouter l’accompagnement au choix et la sauce ( le supplément est un peu limite ça pourrait être inclus ). Je recommande en couple ou entre amis

We had Sunday roast and the food and drinks were fantastic. Unfortunately we got stuck with the one waitress that seemed to be having a bad night. Didn't catch her name because she didn't say much to us. She had pinkish/orangish straight short hair and was wearing a short black shirt that showed her belly. She didn't smile, didn't greet us, didn't check on us, and acted as though her life was miserable while visiting our table. The host that sat us was very nice, and the people that brought us the food were nice. I see on other reviews that the service was great, and I don't doubt that. I guess we just got stuck with the one bad apple. It's unfortunate, but it happens.

Nice cocktails ( the raspberry one was especially refreshing) the steak was good. Service was prompt. I can see why this place is so famous 😁 The cheesecake was yummy, not too sweet and enough for two or even three people.

Great looking restaurant and quality meat options. I am personally a big fan of rump and they had a few variations for under 20£. I did back to back steaks (I am a tourist on holiday) and beer/wine. Everything was great, the staff were friendly, and it was overall a nice change from the typical steakhouses. This is a great location too - right near all the Shoreditch nightlife. Blacklock Gravy is legendary - must get.

A glorified Harvesters with mean-spirited service. Although not overly expensive, the portion size is somewhere between starter and mains size. I’m not a big eater, so it was fine for me, but would recommend paying more and going to a Hawksmore for a more honest helping of food. The quality of the food was fine - nothing special. What really left a bad taste was the mean-spirited service. We weren’t allowed to add an extra chair to our table to accommodate an unexpected guest. I have been a restaurateur for over 10 years and have had many disagreements with customers, but never over something so unnecessary and petty. We were told that it would interfere with the pathway to the kitchen, which was nonsense as the extra chair didn’t need to go on that side of the table. So I can only assume that the manager and waiter just didn’t feel like being accommodating.

I love the steak here so much! The Denver is divine!! And the brocoli salad goes well with it. Service is good too with friendly staff.

Lovely welcome when we got here - service was friendly and informative - lots of suggestions and advise. Price is incredible value - steaks, lamb chops, bone marrow, gravy , beef fat chips a meat lovers dream. Great cocktails too ...was packed by 7pm so you will need to book. Also very clean facilities

been wanting to try here for ages and it did not disappoint. the sunday roast was in top 3 ive ever had and i will for sure be coming back to try the chops on a weekday next time! the beer was also 10/10 especially for the price

My word was this spot incredible. In London for a few days and was craving a roast. Blacklock delivered better than I could’ve dreamed. I dined alone at the bar and the staff took care of me so well. Add on one of the most delicious plates I’ve had in a while with a perfect pairing of the in-house Blacklock lager. Great guys behind the bar there. Will return

Granted we had the burger in a chop house but it was more to fill a gap. The burger was ok and it didn't leave me particularly inspired to go back for one of the steaks. Maybe when a Blacklock comes to Manchester I'll give it another try, but wouldn't be rushing back when I'm next in London.

Loved the dining experience hosted by Callie. Appreciated the attention and suggestions. It was an enjoyable experience above that of the very delicious mini all roast. If it is to be so, I will return when I visit London again.

I love the staff and atmosphere, but this is the 3rd time we ordered a porterhouse and it ended up tasting so bloody and irony. Like what’s going on? It was disgusting… but didn’t want to say anything on a public forum until now. The quality of meat has been on a steep decline since 2022.

Sunday dinner, lovely as always, our go to place. The mutton starter was a real winner too. Cheesecake a bit of a let down as just broken digestive chucks of biscuit rather than buttery crumbs, but on the whole will definitely return. Cannot wait for the Manchester one to open!

This place is just the best! Amazing vibe, amazing food and staff. Everyone is so chilled and lovely and you’ll never be disappointed by the food and the gravy..omg that gravy! Came for an afternoon meal for work lunchat 3pm. Got seated, was ready to order nobody was around so got up and asked for assistance was told to sit down. I ordered the steak fillet, larger and steak fat chips, took just over 20 mins to arrive. I must say although quite small and over cooked and not medium rare like I asked for the steak was quality so were the chips and the beer.

A wonderful surprise in Shoreditch. Amazing grilled meats and delicious sides. Beef, lamb chops, pork chops and pork belly all fire grilled. Meats served with a range of sauces from bernaise to chop sauce. Select your own side like beef chips, double fried chips. Cheesecake and apple crumble for dessert. House wines were a perfect match with the food.

Delicious and high quality food, very accommodating service. This busy place is buzzing, great vibe, great music. It can get a bit loud, but hey- people are having a great time enjoying well made food- especially of course meat. Don’t skip on the appetizers or the sides, they are just as delicious.

Really enjoyed our meal at Blacklock! Really good food, the All in 1 plate was big! Loved the lamb chops on it, but felt the beef lacked some flavour. The sauces were really good and the white chocolate cheesecake at the end topped the evening off. It's a pretty loud place. Lots of tables in a big open space with little sound isolation. After an hour and a half I felt tired from all the noise. Staff was incredible, my compliments! Would definitely recommend to others who seeks a good chophouse!

I had the pleasure of dining at Blacklock Chophouse in Shoreditch last night with two friends, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely amazing, with perfectly cooked chops and delicious sides, but what truly set this visit apart was the phenomenal service. From the moment we walked in, we felt incredibly welcomed and attended to. Every team member was not only friendly but also extremely attentive. It’s clear that the staff at Blacklock Shoreditch are truly clued in and dedicated to providing an outstanding dining experience. We’ve been to many restaurants in London, but the level of service here was unparalleled. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable evening, and their attention to detail did not go unnoticed. We will definitely be visiting Blacklock Shoreditch again and will be recommending it to all our friends.

The service is impeccable, the meat is incredible, I had never eaten that before, the waiter gave us great advice, I am really not disappointed. I highly recommend.

Unfortunately, all in there was pretty cheap meat, just bacon rinds and a mini piece of beef, and it was cold - and carelessly prepared. Can't believe it's so much better on other orders.

This was easily the best meal we had on holiday! The fries were the best I've ever has! This meal one is one reason I will be back to visit! Tried the Bone Marrow and it was delicious!

I’ve been to a lot of steakhouses and quite a few have gotten the steak cooked not right as asked BUT never have I had a server recognize and apologize for it on their own. Offering to replace the steak without me having to bring it up. That’s good service and when the steak did come out right it was FANTASTIC! Great place!!

Had an amazing dinner at Blacklock Shoreditch (my second time there!) — the 800g Porterhouse was more than enough for the two of us and paired perfectly with the sauce and sides we ordered. Will definitely be back again :) Also, if our server saw us leaving a bad review, it wasn’t for them!

A meat eaters dream, absolutely amazing and good value. Friendly staff, and great service, you will need to make a reservation.

First time dining here and I was really impressed. Great service, tasty meat only outdone by the sauces and sides (got to try the gravy, brilliant chips and sweet potato). Felt like good value (£200 for three people including cocktails, wine and plenty of good food).

As a meat restaurant it is very good, the cuts are really tasty and at the point you want. But unfortunately they didn't have all the cuts, including the iconic Rib eye. My pork loin was a little dry. The atmosphere ok, the service very good. It would be great if you could see how they make the meat and instead of a ceramic plate they brought it on an iron plate. We went to celebrate the birthday of my father who loves meat and he was happy, but when it came to singing happy birthday I found it pathetic how they bring you the cake, in any case grateful for the gesture.

Fabulous place that we almost discovered by accident after a nearby event. Had the meat sharing platter which was delicious followed by the cheesecake which was fabulously filling.

We had no booking (last minute birthday plan) after our 5 a side match, 7-2 win. We were made to feel welcome straight away and were sat promptly. It is/ was a Monday so we opted for the butchers price offer, food came and it was absolutely sublime, all of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We shared everything and not a bad bite was had. Regarding service, from start to finish was absolutely faultless. Cali you are amazing, from getting us table in the first place and taking care of us throughout the evening, to the obnoxiously large candle in the cheesecake for James, thank you so much! Also the old fashioned made at the table was a wonderful touch and made him feel very special. All of the servers were excellent so thank you guys, I scored four goals tonight but Cali you were the star of the evening!

My partner and I booked here after reading the amazing reviews here at blacklock. We were welcomed and the service we received was top and faultless. As it was our first time here, we decided to go for the 'all in' so we could try a bit of everything. The pre-chop bites were delicious! My rating is of 3 stars as we feel the meats although excellent quality, were unfortunately lacking in flavour. We ordered the 'chop sauce' to accommodate the meats and this in our opinion was absolutely needed to provide flavour. We were disappointed to not find any salt on our table too. And although this can't be helped, but the environment was extremely noisy and we struggled to hear ourselves speak! We would maybe come again but try different things, such as the burger. Overall, I'd say this is a standard place but niche as there are not many 'chop houses' about!

Outstanding food and service. Our waiter, Jason, did a great job explaining everything on the menu. Was always around with more water and drinks. The restaurant is a bit noisy but otherwise a completely wonderful experience. Highly recommended.

We heard about this place for a while and wanted to try it. it did not disappoint. service was very attentive but a long wait for food. the cocktails were lovely, and a good price for the beers aswell. I highly recommend the burger aswell as the cheesecake to finish off. was delicious!!!

The service was great—warm, friendly, and proactive. For our meal, the two of us ordered the Denver and rib eye, but it wasn't quite enough so we added a lamb skinny chop. The meat quality was decent for the price. The roasted cabbage was delicious, though a bit salty. The butter fries were very tasty; we'd definitely want to have them again next time.

Visited yesterday to try the famous Sunday Roast and it did not disappoint!! The food was excellent as always and the staff as personable and tentative as ever. Blacklock is quickly becoming a must visit when in London - consistently excellent all round and incredible value for money.

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday, and the lovely Ivan looked after us all night. His service was excellent, and he was very knowledgeable about the wines. The food was great, as was the wine. Highly recommend.

After a late night at work we were having some trouble finding an open table, but had luck at Blacklock, and very happy with the results. Very enjoyable meal and lovely service. We went for the all-in and couldn't have been more pleased. Nice mix of chops and pork belly. Gravy and Green sauce on the side made the meal. Chips and surpisingly tasty kale side. Very nice private brew wheat beer. Meal started off with a few complementary amuse bouche (see pix). A traditional meal, but elevated in many ways. For dessert, that White Cheesecake is to die for, well complimented by the black currant blacklockcello.

Went here for Sunday roast and it was great food. The service was so-so and the all-in special was pretty good but light on the meat. Is there a meat-rationing going on that we don't know about? You will be better off to order individual entree's instead of the special.

Average place, slightly expensive given the quality of the food. In the end couldn’t get coffees because they were already cleaning.

Nice venue and friendly staff but really poor Sunday lunch though. Opted for the “all in” Sunday lunch. Meat was tough and fatty. Low low quality meat. Served on a cold plate meaning the food also went cold really quickly. Disappointing cold, fatty, and needed about 200 chews per mouthful to knaw through it. It’s a “no” from me.

Food wasn’t bad, but service was below expectations, bad communication between the staff, inattentive and slow, more than 20 mins to serve bad beer (beer died waiting to be served) is unacceptable. Some items where unavailable on the menu, and bone marrow sauce was bad. Moreover, refusing to serve coffee even when one of the waiters came to the table and took the order is unacceptable with the justification that there was no coffee available, when just in front of us the coffee machine was still on and the coffee grinder was full of coffee.

Quite a spacious and nice restaurant to go out and eat with your friends. Staff are also super friendly.

Obviously if you don't like meat, move on, but otherwise it will be delicious. Small downside, very noisy restaurant.

Their Sunday roast was excellent, great taste and just the right amount of fat. Fantastic Yorkshire puddings and veg. Trish our server was friendly and attentive. Looking forward to coming back and trying their regular menu with friends.
