Delicccccious steak and sides. Amazing service, although quite slow (about 45 min wait for lunch). But very much worth the wait. I had the denver and everyone else had the rump cap and steak sandwiches. Ordered 1 of each side between 5 of us and it was the perfect amount for lunch.

Blacklock Shoreditch Review – Part of the 2025 “Dinner a Month” Series As part of our 2025 commitment to trying a new spot each month, the lads and I landed on Blacklock Shoreditch for this round. Having previously been to Blacklock City a few times and always enjoying both the food and the service, I had a solid baseline of expectation going in. To kick things off, I ordered an Old Fashioned. It was decent—balanced but maybe lacking a bit more of that bitter edge I personally enjoy. That said, I know that’s very much down to individual preference. On the drinks front, the Cinsault Rosé was a hit, as was the Hibiscus Agua Fresca, which is a solid non-alcoholic option. Prices across the board for drinks felt very fair, which is always a pleasant surprise in London. The service on the night? I’d call it average. Nothing wrong, but also nothing particularly warm or memorable. Efficient but not engaging, if that makes sense. We started with two standout dishes: the Smoked Beef Ribs and the Pigs Head on Toast. While both were good, the pigs head was the clear winner—beautifully seasoned, buttery-soft, and an absolute delight. Definitely a dish I’d come back for. Also worth mentioning: I have a nut allergy, and they were accommodating and aware, which is always appreciated and reassuring. For mains, we went in on Ribeyes and Rump Caps, all cooked exactly as requested. And let’s be honest, even in a steak-focused restaurant, that’s not always a given. They nailed it. We ordered a selection of sides to share—crispy chips, a standout sweet potato dish, and bone marrow (rich and decadent, if that’s your thing). The spring slaw was a clever contrast to all the heavy meat; fresh, light, and crunchy. And don’t skip the Blacklock gravy—it’s rich, savoury, and works with everything on the plate. I had my eye on the rhubarb and apple crumble for dessert, but it sadly includes nuts in the crumble topping. Apparently, that’s a traditional approach—but it meant I had to skip it. In the end, Blacklock didn’t disappoint. Great food clearly led the night. While the service didn’t elevate the experience, it didn’t detract either. A solid outing for the “Dinner a Month” crew. Final Score: 7/10 – Would return for the pigs head, the steak, and that sweet

had been meaning to come to blacklock for ages and wow, what a great spot. super tender meats, seasoned and cooked perfectly - pork, lamb, and beef were all delicious. simple dishes with high quality ingredients. the coal roasted sweet potato and tallow fries are nice sides. the white chocolate cheesecake with tart winter berries was also such a good end to the meal. very reasonably priced with excellent service.

Delicious Sunday Roast! The restaurant was so beautiful and perfect for a nice British meal in London. Unfortunately my cousin (who is celiac) couldn’t have the roast menu, but all the staff were very accommodating to the situation, they cooked her meal separately and made sure she had something to eat. The Yorkshire pudding transcended me and the beef was tender and delicious.

This is the most spectacular dinner we had in London, and honestly probably the best steak I ever had. Every bite of everything was amazing, and the pricing on Mondays is the BEST! The whole staff was also beyond amazing with allergy accommodations, ensuring my steak didn’t get cooked with the other meats to avoid cross contamination. Thank you to the amazing team!

Great meat for a great price, friendly staff, and definitely the best cheesecake. We started with pre chop bites, they were okay but not too necessary I would say. Rump cap and sixth rib eye were both good but I liked sixth rib eye more. Next time I would try sirloin. As sides, we had sweet potatoes and beef dripping chips. Sweet potatoes were next level. I am not a fan of gravy sauce in general but my friend loved it. I was too full to try the cheesecake then I wanted to give it a go just because of its high reviews and I have no regrets. Don't hesitate a moment to try it. Luna colada was like a lighter version of a pina colada. Liked it as well. Great experience overall, definitely recommend this place.

The steaks are not flavourful enough for dry aged steaks although they still taste alright. Overall, it did not live up to my expectation for the steaks and does not worth a special visit to the restaurant.

Stopped by spontaneously on Sunday at 7 p.m. and got a table for 7:45 p.m. So the restaurant is very busy, but the staff is trying to find a seat. We really wanted to have a Sunday Roast and we weren't disappointed. Large portions for a reasonable price. Bottomless Gravy to kneel down on. In general the staff is very nice and courteous. Highly recommended.

This was our 2nd Blacklock (City one before). The food was delicious as always. The sharer menu is a must, it is soo good. And excellent value for money. My husband had the pig head starter, which was delicious too and the gravy excellent. The chips are also great, the brocoli amazing, all so tasty. And the best part is the bread soaked up in all the juices at the bottomof the plate! What a treat! And their lager is delicious, too! Thank you!

Went here for a 40th birthday as a group of 8. I thought this place was ok but I wouldn't go back or recommend to anyone. It was very noisy in the main dining area, not because of a buzzing atmosphere, mostly because there's bare walls that haven't been acoustically treated so the room is incredibly echoey, most really good restaurants I've been in spare some thought to the acoustics in the dining areas. Foodwise it was ok, not particularly good value, or high quality...just ok. Except for the chips! The beef dripping chips were truly amazing, very tasty and crispy...but for me that's the only highlight. My steak was cooked to the correct temperature but the fat wasnt rendered properly and the meat was a little chewy. It was also really off-putting that none of the plates matched. It looked like the plates were from a charity shop or car boot sale. It was like having dinner at your auntie's and she'd run out of the good plates. The Chef had a really long beard that wasn't covered in any way and I worried that a hair would find its way into the food. (After we finished one of our group said she had found a hair but didn't mention it as she didn't want to spoil the evening...I really wish she had) Dessert was the thing that confused me the most. The "cheesecake" was just a mush of cream cheese and white chocolate shaving in a massive tray with loosely broken biscuits which gets slopped into bowls (which also didn't match) at your table. It tasted ok but looked unappetising, especially the way it was served. It didn't feel like restaurant quality at all. The staff are all very friendly and clearly working hard to give a good experience but it just didn't click for me on the night.

Las papas asadas eran crujientes por fuera y esponjosas por dentro y el tamaño de la porción era extremadamente generoso. Solo uno de nosotros se las arregló para el pastel de queso de postre que venía con un coulis de frutas muy agradable. Tengo que destacar la eficiencia y el servicio amable. No podría haber sido mejor. No conseguí el nombre de nuestro camarero, ¡pero era búlgaro con acento americano! Él era tan amable y atento - gracias por hacer nuestra experiencia extra especial. By far the noisiest restaurant I have ever been to, worse than a pub, impossible to chat with anyone unless you yell. Waited 10 mins for a high chair to arrive. I do love black lock but it's starting to have the same feeling as flat iron, they want to get as many bums on seats which means cramped tables together giving you hardly any room to get into your seat and meaning you can hear the convo of the tables next to you. Music was also a little too loud for an evening meal, is it a restaurant or a night club. That being said the food was amazing as always and the staff were ever so lovely.

The steak was cooked well (medium rare as I ordered) and seasoned just right. The bone marrow complemented the steak beautifully, and the chips were crispy and hot. They even offered sparkling water for free, which was a nice touch. Everything was perfect. The service was lovely as well. However, I visited during dinner time, so it was a bit noisy. But, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great steak at a reasonable price.

Visited today with my partner. We ordered the all in but requested only lamb and beef as we don’t eat pork. When our food arrived it looked good initially but after trying it we were really disappointed. The beef was decent but the cuts given were really fatty, the lamb was really fatty and hard to chew and so we were not able to eat much of the lamb, both meats were cooked weirdly one side was pink (Rare) and the other brown (well done), one of the pieces of lamb we received was practically white in colour which we thought was odd, the vegetables came slightly hard (undercooked) and not crispy, the gravy at first was decent however when a server came round and topped up the gravy boats it was way too salty and horrible. After reading such good reviews we were expecting a lot better and have had better roasts in local pubs. When it came to paying we told our server we were unhappy with our experience, to our surprise the server didn’t even acknowledge this or bother to follow up on it. We would never return and certainly not recommend this restaurant. Overhyped and disappointing

Our first visit to Blacklock Shoreditch for lunch left a fantastic impression. From the outset, the focus on quality ingredients treated with respect shone through. The egg and anchovy starter was a perfectly balanced umami kickstart, while the pigs head on toast featured meltingly tender cheek meat on well-chosen sourdough – simple, yet deeply satisfying. The ribs were succulent, with just the right amount of char and yielding tenderness. My partner’s fillet arrived precisely rare, as requested, showcasing excellent sourcing and cooking. I opted for the Blacklock Burger, and it's clear they understand burger craft here. The patty had a superb crust, suggesting a thoughtful blend and high-heat cooking, complemented beautifully by deeply sweet, properly caramelised onions – it confidently holds its own against London's dedicated burger spots. Accompanying beef dripping chips were crisp and full of flavour, and the kale with parmesan offered a welcome, sharp counterpoint. The 'Mindful Martini', though perhaps a fraction sweeter than anticipated, proved a surprisingly effective foil to the richness of the dishes. We were also treated to a delightful complimentary chocolate cheesecake with spring berries – a very kind touch. – dense, smooth, and lifted by fresh spring berries; a genuinely lovely gesture. What truly elevated the experience, however, was the service, particularly from our host, Pepe, whose warmth and genuine hospitality made us feel instantly welcome. A thoroughly enjoyable meal centred on great produce, skilfully cooked. We'll certainly be returning.

We got the medium sirloin and medium ribeye but there was so much difference in the level they were cooked! The medium sirloin felt more medium rare whereas the medium ribeye was like a Welldone. Walked in on a Monday dinner service where Felix looked after me and two other friends. He was a good chat and extremely accommodating. Me and friends came in as a walk-in and we felt very welcomed by all the staff especially by the manager Felix. He was very attentive and patient with us as we took awhile to order as it was my friends first time here. While I understand some positive reviews I also understand the negative ones. The service here was very obnoxious from the moment I booked it to the end. The food was just normal nothing special, I guess a good service makes a difference when the food is “good but overhyped”. I am unsure if I recommend this place. Great food, fast service, all good. The only thing is, once you seat somebody etiquette dictates that you don't try to move them or hurry them. It doesn't matter if you have a table waiting, you plan in advance and you think ahead. And for the table waiting, if you have crammed in too many tables in the time slot, the line to use is; "your table is coming shortly, please order drinks at the bar, here are some menu's, relax and we'll be with you very soon". However it's still a 5*.😁

We came for our friend's birthday at 8pm Friday 28th March and left feeling very disappointed. It took 20 minutes to take our drinks order, despite the fact that at one point 5 members of staff were standing chatting in the corner (with two giving eachother back massages?!) whilst we tried to get their attention. We had to chase our drinks twice, and the second time (after 40 minutes) I was told they had just run out of ingredients for my mocktail and I had to choose something else. The drinks eventually arrived 50 minutes after we ordered them. I know all restaurants rely on inflating their drinks prices, but maybe Blacklock could at least get lemonade by the 300ml bottle, as £3 for 200ml is insane, but also that is just not enough liquid to remotely quench your thirst. Especially when you've been sat there waiting for nearly an hour and the ice you asked for at the beginning for the lukewarm tap water never showed up. The starters were good but we were underwhelmed by the main courses. My cauliflower was very oily and for £2 we received about a teaspoon of Bernaise sauce. We left before dessert because we couldn't face the wait for it, especially as we would have also wanted more drinks. The only positive about the service was that we were impressed with the staffs' knowledge of the menu when it came to asking questions about gluten.

Come here for Sunday roast. Although the food was a little slow to come out, the quality was very high and the price was very reasonable. The restaurant was very popular and half of the seats were gone when I arrived at 12 noon.

I’ve been to Blacklock a few times and I think this was my worst experience so far. The service felt very much like they were trying to get us to spend as much as possible. And the “say when” desert was brought to us in a bowl, not the usual lasagne dish and served at the table. Disappointing.

This place is known for its Sunday roast. We have several branches in London. I made a reservation two days in advance as I was eating alone and went to have a Sunday roast for lunch, and my first impression was good as they treated me very kindly. They graciously accepted all-in (beef, pork, lamb), which was originally only available for orders of 2 or more people, so I was able to taste a variety of meats that I didn't expect. It feels like it sticks to the basics within the basic composition of a Sunday roast (roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, gravy, roasted vegetables and potatoes). The meat was cooked between medium rare and medium overall and had a distinct lamb flavor, but it was not overpowering. The gravy is slightly salty but has a rich umami flavor, so it has a magical quality that you will run out of as you continue to dip it into potatoes or meat. The potatoes are baked until the outside is slightly hard, and they taste just like potatoes. The Yorkshire pudding was nothing special, but it was crispy and well-baked. This is a recommended restaurant if you want to try a good quality Sunday roast.

My first Sunday roast experience and it was great I got the lamb leg and it was amazing. The gravy was top notch. The potatoes were also nice and crunch and everything was seasoned perfectly. The bloody maria was good too.

Have been coming here for years - it’s my favourite steak house in London. I like to come on a Monday with friends or family and order a massive steak. The chop sauce is superb. The cheesecake is amazing but the bread and butter pudding totally blew me away. Don’t be afraid of the pig head on toast! Staff are simply the best (Beppe and Federica in particular, ciao raga!). Great atmosphere. Best value for money as well in my opinion. Sunday roasts are excellent but finding a table can be tricky so recommend booking well in advance because this place is popular, with good reason.

Having added an extra person to the list, we were unable to take our original seats reserved in Covent Garden (which was recommended) and so rebooked for Shoreditch. I was greeted by a warm smile and cheerful conversation, immediately through the door. My coat was swiftly taken to the cloakroom (with my permission, of course!) The atmosphere was warm, buzzing, and exuberant. When the blacklock fillet I ordered was served, I was dubious. It did not look edible, but I was delightfully proven wrong. The charcoal and salty flavour was tantalising. This was paired with the broccoli and walnut salad, which I could not tell you what seasoning was used but it was one of the best things I tasted that evening. The 10hr ash roasted sweet potato was soft, salty, and sweet. It was a perfect mix of flavours and proportions. For dessert, I chose the cheesecake. The appearance was similar to an Eton mess; bosh, wallop on the plate with digestives messily crushed beneath the cream. If I were not full from the main, I would have asked for the whole dish! Yummy! Cannot wait to visit again, absolutely loved it.

I cannot fault the quality of the meats or the cooking! Great steak night! My recommendations for orders for great flavour: Medium Rib-Eye 9.5/10 - top choice! Medium Lamb rump (ask for rosemary sprinkle)! Medium Sirloin! The wine selection is broad and delivers too! My wine recommendation is in the pictures. What could improve the atmosphere may be the introduction of screens or other visuals on the walls.

It took over 40 minutes for the food to arrive, and both the burger and the steak sandwich were extremely salty and we had to drink a lot of water to rehydrate. The steak sandwich was tasty but lacked enough meat; it was mostly bread.

Blacklock is incredible value for an even more incredible meal! Their cheesecake is divine, so much so that I went back weeks later and asked for a portion to go… the employee today who served me absolutely made my day! Broccoli salad was a perfect refreshing complement to the beef Chop sauce was tasty but maybe a bit too salty especially given that the steak is already salty by itself. Absolutely brilliant, been meaning to come here fore sometime. Last weekend I called at short notice and they managed to fit me in me in as long as I sat at the bar. Perfect two mates out that's all we needed. I had the Ribs to start and the ribeye for main. Everything was just spot on, juicy Ribs and a succulent steak. Fries were awesome too. With beers and wine it was great value at less than £60 per head. Normally go to the Hawksmoor but I'm glad I finally got the chanel to dine here. Thanks to the team too, very informative, good advice and we were well looked after, can't wait to return again soon. Hopefully for that famous Sunday roast.

A very long wait for the table - 1 hour. Good steak. Loved the sides! Aubergine and garlic mash were both great. They give ice cream for free once you leave, but it was not a good soft serve. Didn't enjoy it at all.

La comida es deliciosa y reserva es siempre esencial. Asegúrate de que tienes el teléfono sobre ya que sonaba a comprobarlo! El ambiente es increíble e incluso cuando esté lleno puedes mantener una conversación. Gracias a nuestro amigo que nos dijeron que el parque de seguridad, durante la caminata a través de toda la contenedores y tiendas descubrimos este lugar, me sentí inmediatamente atraído por causa estaban ofreciendo también hamburguesas vegetarianas. Así el panecillo burger es buena, el vegetariano patty tenía un sabor delicioso y no cayera como otros vegetarianos empanadas hamburguesa. Todo en uno bueno y recomendable. Sólo teníamos una hamburguesa, pero apuesto, para mi próxima visita Londres me volveré allí de nuevo;-)).

Saben lo que quiero cuando voy andando en y listo en menos de 3 minutos.El sabor es excepcional y no se me ocurre mejor café en cualquier lugar. . . Y soy un poco amante de estirado de café. Ahora me doy cuenta de que he tomado por sentado como el viernes hacía tarde para trabajar, así que en una tienda de practicado el café italiano más en mi ruta directa. Parecía totalmente nuevo con una carga de ostentación y bombillas colgando. El café era muy pobre y más caro el que LESD. Así que la lección del día es incluso si llega tarde al trabajo, incluso más tarde y tomar un café estupendo.Sigan con el buen trabajo chicos (y la señora italiana). !

I went to eat here with 3 friends. The food is delicious. This restaurant is also a shisha lounge with an amazing atmosphere. It is always busy and you can tell why. As soon as you eat, the food will make you realize why! Perfectly cooked lam biryani and vegetable curry, fresh naan bread, perfectly seasoned wings and burgers, inventive fresh milkshakes and fluffy, made to order waffles! Everything about this place felt like home cooking, will definitely return. Best of all, we paid no more than £12 a head each and were full to the rafters by the time we left.
