Stumbled upon this place for dinner and were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious, though a bit too spicy for some. I especially enjoyed the noodles and pancake. We tried almost the whole menu, and everything was great. Nice vibe too!

Wonderful food, great staff, good wine. A little cramped and noisy for my taste but well worth it for the food. I had dishes I've never had before, and everything was fantastic. Wonderful!

Ok food, nothing to write home about. Rubbish service. not welcoming, rude attitude from waitress on front desk Plastic dining wear. Had grooves in from over use - not hygienic or planet friendly. Overpriced, cramped, music was way too loud.

Fun space, seriously tasty food and concise and well considered drinks list (very reasonable prices for London 🎉) the sort of place you could visit weekly.

10/10 would recommend to anyone. Great for a sharing meal with friends. Came here late without a reservation. The staff sorted us out on the side bar while waiting for a table to free up. Had ice sold Sapporo and started with cold noodles and pickled peanuts. The cold noodles were so good we had to get a second order! Spice levels are high but the food was so delicious. We also got the crispy lamb and a few other dishes not depicted here. Got too busy eating to take another photo. Atmosphere was great inside. Very cozy and friendly. We even got a piece of cake from the staff as they were closing up and had some left over!

Modern Chinese food with elements from sichuan region and south-east Asian influence. The atmosphere was laid back and relaxed. The service was fantastic. This is a perfect place to spend a summer evening with friends and family.

So so tasty. I do recommend coming with a group to allow you to try loads of dishes. We had almost everything on the menu and it was delicious. Stand outs were the lamb, tofu skin noodles, sesame noodles, chicken wings and the fish. The biang biang noodles were a little disappointing, a bit too thick and lacking flavour. But overall so so tasty, also lovely oolong tea! Also very affordable with loads of dishes and a drink costing just 30pp.

I’m a local and have been coming here for years. I’ve never once been anything less than buzzing off my nut. This place has flavour for the RAVER. I once had crispy chilli beef here that honestly made a bit come out. I still think about that dish like a long lost lover. Just had some impossibly good salt and pepper courgette fries that made me stuff my face like a possessed madman. Polished off with soft serve mint choc chip. Bang bang bang! On top of which they play great music and have invested in a delicious quality sound system which means you can enjoy the sounds and conversation. Staff are excellent and everything is basically just right. Thanks Lucky and Joy!

Ridiculously bloody good food. Flavours galore across all dishes. Stands ours were of course the hand pulled noods, smashed cuc and the genuine out of this world pork. Succulent, juicy, sweet n spicy. I’m going back and will order 5 plates of the stuff. Cheers Lucky n Joy x

Everything about this place 🤘🏻 The food was banging! I’m Canadian Chinese, I eat Asian meals 9x a week, and let me tell you, this was fun, dishes were inventive (not all of them, and that’s okay!) and the portion were of good size. I especially liked: - Cucumber salad | I’ve had many cucumber salads, and this was good simple, fresh, tasty! It reminded me of a Thai papaya salad. - Salt’n’pepper mussels | If you like the typical Chinese salt and pepper flavour profile, you’ll love this! - Turnip Cake | as a lover of the classic dim sum turnip cake, I also enjoyed this :) - Custard tart | this felt loosely inspired by an HK egg tart, but different. I highly recommend ending with this! Urghhh overall so good. I was 1, but ordered enough for 2 and paid £47. Also, good friendly service, nice vibes. Music’s on the louder side, but who cares?

Absolutely brilliant… we had the peanut noodles, chicken wings, greens with tomatoes, cumin lamb and sticky rice. All of it was absolutely delicious, couldn’t get enough. The peach highball cocktail was really well made, and first rate service from helpful and friendly staff too!

Style-wise it drips with uber-cool sheik minialism and the staff are mega friendly. However it doesn't live up to the hype or its 4.7 rating. Suffers from a distinct lack of veg and an overuse of oil. Take, for example, the flat noodles "with pak choi" which served with 2 tiny pieces of the superior veg and hits you with flavour that is overbearing and without nuance, all floating in gallons of oil. The sesame noodles, again oozing with grease are also again veg-less. The fried mussels were tasty but are essentially junk food after its oil bath. The chicken wings were the highlight where--although again sans veggies--the flavour was a bit mysterious and quite delicious. The felt feet on the chairs were honestly a breath of fresh air in an industry that seems to not give a flying f<<k about people with sensory sensitivities. All in all though, it's not worth a second visit. As a verified local guide, I'll just say I was disappointed.

Came for the bank holiday set menu collab with the tamil prince and it was great nice and chill and well worth £45 for ten dishes

Been meaning to try this place for ages and it didn't disappoint. Szechuan negronis are a must and the sesame noodles alone are worth a visit. Will definitely be back on a regular basis

Good vibe, good music, good service. However don't think they have ever had Chinese food. Rice was mushy, which is a big nono. Charsiu had an intense strange flavour and chewy. Trying to create new Mushroom mapo tofu did not work well. You can go if you're looking for a western version of Chinese food, but if you're into your OG Chinese food this is not the place.

Outstanding. Every dish was so fresh and full of flavour: it's just happy food. Cocktails are exceptional. Great vibes. Can't wait to return.

The best Chinese food I’ve eaten in London! I’m SE Asian so finding authentic food in London is pretty hard so I was gobsmacked when each dish served here was perfection. The quality of the cooking is very apparent and the taste was spot on. We ordered 5 dishes (including rice and noodles) between 2 and were very full so maybe 4 dishes would be good if one of them is a large dish. Would come here again (and again!) P.s we ordered the sesame noodles, steamed rice, red braised pork belly, aubergine with tofu and the turnip cake with egg.

Food and cocktails were great. But the place has a serious ventilation problem. We had to breathe burnt oil smoke (carcinogens) The smell clung to us, and we carried it throughout the entire night.

Went here with a friend for dinner - it’s a cosy little place with a small menu and attentive staff but honestly, is it a 4.7 in terms of food? Absolutely not. The dishes would be best described as “meh” in terms of flavour and out of the 4 dishes we ordered - the turnip cake and dai pork were insanely salty, practically inedible. So for the price, definitely suggest you give this one a miss.

Fantastic space, friendly and fun vibe that is deeply unpretentious. The menu is superb. Varied, clever and delicious. And here's the kicker, clean, fresh and healthy too. Amazing job to the owners and staff.

Mind-blowing experience! Some of the best food and I've eaten in London and my new favourite place overall. Amazing funky vibe, great music, relaxed atmosphere and super-friendly yet also efficient staff but most importantly... the food was absolutely delicious, carefully thought through, distinctive and with added chief's personal unique twist to it, and the ingredients were clearly top quality, too. Such a high level is not something you normally immediately expect from a such a relaxed and affordable next-door spot, so prepare yourself to end up astounded, mildly shocked and very positively confused... cannot wait to come back there for more!

Loved everything about this place, from the attentive, knowledgeable and humorous staff, to the menu and cute stickers with our bill. Definitely get the peanut noodles and if it's on the menu the aubergine. Usually my fav would always be a meat option but these two dishes were so flavoursome in their own unique ways.

Like this place. Interesting and imaginative combinations of flavors on the menu with regular changes. Is high on our list for eating out in our local area because the menu is so good. Recommend booking towards end of week as walk ins hard to come by.

I liked this funky little place. Loved the cold dishes. The hot one were so so. Music a bit loud but overall I would go back for the cold starters of things like duck, and satay noodles.

Lucky & Joy smash it every time. Really outstounding dishes with excellent friendly service. Menu is often changing, which is obviously a good sign for a kitchen. Plenty in offer too, whether you eat meat, fish or you're vegetarian. A buzzing restaurant with a fun atmosphere. Good place to go with friends. Only came on here to see if they're open Sunday, but it isn't! 😭. So I thought I'd leave a review instead 😆. Will be back soon!

Always amazing! The sesame noodles are always the standout, but the typhoon cauliflower, wok fried greens and aubergine with silken tofu were incredible too. Always plenty of great vegan options. Love the kitsch decor and friendly service.

Absolutely delicious food, I couldn’t fault it. The dai chicken and the typhoon cauliflower especially fantastic but everything was great. The orange wine was also a revelation. All served tapas style in a relaxed cafe style. Will definitely be going back!

My partner took me to Lucky & Joy last night for my birthday dinner. By the end of the meal I felt extremely lucky and full of joy (as well as amazing food!). As it was a special occasion we ordered quite a few dishes and there wasn't a single dud on the menu. You have to go for the cold noodles, you just have to. The sauce on the fried greens was addictive, the wontons perfect and the grilled chicken was amazing! Everything tasted fresh and flavoursome and so well balanced. We will be going back!

Service was good, ingredients were fresh but tastes were superficial: over sweetened, vinegared, salted, no depth. Diners were white folk.

Place is lovely, people are nice, even the food is quite good, but I as Chinese I just could make all of these stuff myself easily without having to spend £25 each on 4 tiny dishes and then still feel hungry.

Everything we had here was divine! Especially great for vegans and gf diets. Would recommend in a heart beat - great vibe and wonderful servers as well👏

I was looking forward to this but overall it sucked :( The sea bass was good but the rest was bad. Wok fried greens turned out to be fried lettuce??!! The aubergine tasted like the smell of durian fruit and it came buried under layers of mint, parsley, dill, thyme and coriander (!!!!!! How many herbs u need??!!)

Iv been here a couple of times and I really love the food. Great for veggies or flexitarians and it’s a fun, relaxed atmosphere.

The food was really yummy especially the cold noodles. Service was good too. My only criticism would be the decor which I found uninspiring ( posters pinned on the wall with thumb tacks paper chains and a large TV screen)

This restaurant is very nice, the atmosphere is lively, vibrant and joyful. Food was delicious, a lot of different flavours and food combinations, it’s recommended to share plates. The staff was very friendly too. I’m giving four stars because they bring you the food when it’s ready, it would be nice if they brought everything together

Tasty food and good service. However, the portion sizes are half those of a typical Sichuan restaurant - and have less taste too. The lamb ribs at £17 came as three and a half. The chicken wings- the cheapest part of the bird - came as a portion of 3. Smacked cucumber salad was half the size of the one we had last year- surely cucumber can’t be that expensive?. Despite inflation, the overall impression was a bit mean-spirited, given the cost of ingredients and the location (it’s not Mayfair!). Wine was good but on expensive side too.

Just ordered from them on Uber Eats and it literally almost got me emotional. Wow, that's such good food, made remember I love Yunnan cuisine. Highly recommended.

Amazing food. I work in hospitality and I couldn’t fault a single dish - everything was cooked to absolute perfection. We had the spinach with ginger for starter and the sesame noodles - fantastic combo with big flavours. For our main we had sea bass with sapphire, aubergine with tofu, turnip cake, and chargrilled cabbage - wow! All were dishes so fine they wouldn’t be out of place in a very high end restaurant. Desert was homemade ice cream with toffee snap, and a custard tart - both were perfectly balanced deserts that completed a superb meal. Well done everyone! Will be back very soon and can’t wait!

We have wanted to visit Lucky and Joy for a while now and it didn't dissapoint. Everything was delicious but the turnip cake in particular stood out. Would definitely visit again and I understand they change the menu regularly.

Easily one of my favourite restaurants in London. I lived in Clapton for a year and loved having such a brilliant restaurant on my doorstep. I now live in Walthamstow and still visit regularly and recommend to all my friends. Every dish on the menu is exciting and full of flavour. The sesame noodles, turnip cake and sea bass are all firm favourites of mine. The atmosphere is laid back and casual, and staff are attentive and friendly. Love that there's an open kitchen too so you can see the chefs at work. Truly a gem of a restaurant and I can't wait for my next visit.

Some dishes like the turnip cake, and the cabbage were amazing; for me, the portion sizes were on the small side and prices slightly too high. Could do with coming with a BIG bowl of rice or noodles (noodles portion is quite small). Good vibe in there and service very good. Might go back

The food is really creative and packed with flavour, and it's such a friendly spot too. Loads of seriously good vegan plates. Dogs allowed too!

Not bad at all but reminded me of how my Northern Irish flatmate described Chinese restaurant there in the early 90's. White folks clueless about Asian food presenting it like it's normal. Friendly, good vide but not genuine in any way.

In general I enjoyed my evening at lucky & joy. I did book but we had to wait 10ish minutes before getting seated. It was okay as we accepted a drink and sat outside on a bench. Once inside it was extremely cramped, the place could do with maybe 2 or 3 less tables - we felt very involved in our neighbours tables conversation, no ideal. The food was okay - if you visit get the sesame noodles they were my favourite. The other dishes were tasty but nothing to rave home about. We had 5 dishes between us and it was plenty of food!!!!! Our bill (including 2 drinks) came to over £70 which did feel pretty high for just 2 people. Cannot fault the staff they were all extremely lovely and helpful 10/10.

A local I have been going to that just seems to get better and better! I don’t normally bother to write reviews but this place is very special and deserves one. I think it’s rare to come away from eating out and feel like you have had a delicious and seemingly healthy meal but Lucky and Joy does that. The staples like the spinach and smacked cucumber are fresh and filled with flavour. The menu is ever changing so it’s exciting to go back and experience tasting new dishes each time. My current favourite is the crispy squid (a less healthy choice but my god it’s worth it!) That coating crumb of crispy garlic and shallots and spices (I think!) is a taste sensation. Oh also you must try the lamb ribs! Would highly recommend!

Our favourite! Staff are wonderful, food is amazing, nothing more you could ask for! Told everyone I know about it haha!
