Linton Tandoori in South Cambridgeshire

Has been updated and is now called the Bengal Lounge, new management perhaps? Had a very nice meal with good service, very tasty and spicy Korai Shashlik. Worth trying.

Working 8n the region for a few days and went somewhere local for a meal. Only person in the restaurant. Excellent food and service. Would highly recommend.

Awful service ,absolutely awful food avoid the butter chicken like the plague it is truly disgusting.They got confused when I was ordering the meals so my starter came along with my main course 10 minutes after my friends starter. Then when I came to pay the bill the waiter would only give me my Meerkat buy one get one free on the main course only and not on all the courses as stated on the website. This meal and experience was the worst I have ever encountered and although I live close by i will never eat there again and recommend that you don’t.

Afraid I agree with the other recent reviews. It was dreadful. Didn’t taste like proper cooking at all. Just a load of ingredients from a central supplier chucked together. Complete waste of money.

We ordered a large selection of dishes: Butter chicken Mutta paneer Korma Lamb masala Chicken pasanda Naan The curries were not good. The butter chicken was incredibly greasy and fatty and lacked any flavour. The korma was watery The naan was quite hard to bite. This is unfortunately the worst curry I’ve had in my life.

We always get a friendly welcome when we go to The Linton Tandoori. The flavours are wonderful. All restaurants are being forced to put up their prices. This restaurant seems to be keeping their increases lower than many other restaurants. We also noticed that their mark up on the wines was notably lower than other restaurants. This time we enjoyed the ginger chicken and the murghi masala but there are lots of other dishes to tempt us. We will certainly be returning again.

We traveled from our town( 20 minutes ) to get a Indian have been using this one for a long time .we understand the price hike we usually pay around £40 but today it was nearly £60 but as we’re thought the food is fabulous but how wrong was we it was watery everything looked and tasted the same chicken was very chewy I was glad there wasn’t much meat 4 small pieces of chicken tikka in one dish that wasn’t covered in a bland coconut looking sauce couldn’t tell one from the other but thank for the so called chefs they had the knowledge to write on the lid .No one would answer my phone alarm bells should have gone started when they ask us to pay by cash as normally we use our card so we will now be finding another Indian

So lucky to have the Linton Tandoori in the village, the staff are lovely, friendly and polite and the food is very tasty. We have a curry from here most weeks.

Utterly disgusting. Two completely different curries looked and tasted the exact same. On arrival home with our take away, the sauce had split (congealed) and was evident that this was clearly microwaved. I mixed in my bland tasteless curry, poured over my plate and sure enough the sauce split again, water with congealed (clearly microwaves/reheated) curry! As for the taste, it had no flavour what so ever, all of the household said the same. In fact both curries had the same bland taste with little flavour. However rice was ok! I am a local resident and always used to visit here but standards and quality have dropped massively over the years and I am so disappointed that from now on I will visit the Indian take aways in saffron Walden.

Second time eating here and it definitely is one of my favourite places for Indian food, some really tasty food and so much flavour. The staff are also really welcoming and friendly. Would highly recommend :)

Visited the Linton Tandoori this week with friends. All the food dishes were excellent and really tasty. The service was very "relaxed" but if you want something, just ask ! I had Chicken Momo for starter, which I'd never seen before, unusual dish, chicken with small puffed up breads. And then Chicken Raja for main which was a whole tandoori roasted breast in delicious sauce. The Mushroom Pilau was real nice too. Cobra or Kingfisher beer on draught, all good. Price is a bit expensive but the food compensates. Thanks for a nice Saturday evening.

We were very keen on trying some proper Indian food in a nice enough restaurant- this place is much more than I expected: - completely accessible for pushchairs/ wheelchair users including toilets (I know that from experience how important it can be); - nicely set tables - high standard in hygiene - absolutely clean environment including outside the restaurant - bus stop is just outside (very convenient) - some on street parking places are available - waiters know inside out what they are serving up so they are able to help with all questions - the flavours are absolutely delicious - they pay attention to details like WARMED UP FRAGRANCED WET HAND WIPE :-) I loved it! - perfect place for couples/ groups Highly recommend the place - and are definately going back.

A great choice of meals with excellent flavours. We always get a warm welcome from the friendly and knowledgable staff. We will certainly be eating here again.

I absolutely love this place, the food is excellent and the staff are always so nice to everyone. Also had a meal here when I was heavily pregnant and the staff were so friendly and accommodating.

Thought we’d try a takeaway from their as it used to be good years ago, I phoned to order it lunchtime and the phone went to answer phone, I left a message but they didn’t bother to ring back, when I phoned in the evening he said I must have been out the back. We ordered a takeaway that came to £33 when my husband walked in the house with it there was no smell of Indian food what so ever, you had to take off the lid and put your nose to it before getting a slight smell of Indian food, which I thought straight away was not a good sign, it tasted like it smelt, no flavor and the lamb was gristle and very chewy, I would not recommended it at all, it was not even the right consistency of Indian food, it tasted like it had been thickened with a lot of flour, save your money, or go elsewhere.

Used to be good. Last week was watery and tastless - including the ectra green chillies. Staff might be new, take care folks. Was a terrible waster of 40 quid for takeaway for two, overpriced and rubbish.

Went here on a date night as we had never been for a curry together alone... were welcomed on entry and given a seat where we wouldn't be disturbed, menu's brought.Tables with linen cloths and linen napkins like any good quality restaurant in the city.We chose from the menu and awaited our order with took about 20 minutes and we stuffed our faces on a couple of popadoms.... loved the hot lime pickle!Food was served hot and tasty on clean plates with clean cutlery (some places fail on this) which made the experience better.I eat well but found I was full on the portions, but i did scavenge a bit off my partners plate as she eats for a sparrow! All in all, 2 meals and drinks for less than £50 was good value.We were able to hold a real conversation there too - wasn't too noisy!!Thank you

School dinners are us; absolutely nothing authentic and miserable service to boot. 'Medium' had not a hint if spiciness and everything had that same 'tan' look. A badly cooked onion in MSG fest. Yuk.

Have visited more than once always had good food, the service is good if slow but when visiting here and meeting up with my sister the time factor is not important. Always been good value.

Food is OK but always have to nuke it in the microwave as it is never hot. Maybe this explains reported gastro symptoms?

Again let down by tripadvisor ratings, not bad enough to be average but not good enough to be very good. The food was reasonable and the staff were pleasant enough but just needed to be marked down a little as not as good as other places I have visited recently.

This is the second time we have visited and had the same impression. Whilst the food was reasonably good the service left much to be desired. The manager seemed totally uninterested in the customers and the service was particularly slow even though only 2 others were in the restaurant on both occasions.

we were regulars for years but gradually the quality has slipped downwards, until my wife and daughter both became ill following the last meal. ingredients seem to have become cheaper. sauces less tasty. we now go to Haverhill for curry. the managers not welcoming. the serving staff are nice and try hard. we won't go anymore.

we were seated at the top right hand corner where my husband detected a damp smell there were few other people in the restaurant at the time we came in but within 10 minutes a large party arrived and sat directly in line with us which made it almost impossible to have a conversation above their noise not that they were a rowdy group they were a large group in very close proximity. They could easily have sat us somewhere else. The service wasn't particularly slow however the waiter did have a fairly surly stance this was highlighted when they forgot to bring a rice dish out and after a period of time I had to go up to the bar to request it only to be told that I hadn't ordered it which of course I had and anyway the customer is always right the food itself was fine nothing special but it was perfectly acceptable portion sizes were average not bad as restaurants go for something simple if you are in the area and fancy an Indian meal

Ridiculously expensive considering the portion size was tiny. Smallest I've ever had from an Indian restaurant The curry was a radioactive pink colour. Taste wasn't bad Take out service was shocking

Acabo experimentado el peor servicio que he visto en un restaurante. Llegué a las 7. 45:00 y encontramos una zona media sin camareros dinining en vista. Después de una espera de 5 minutos me acerqué al barman, que sólo me dijo para sentarse en la sala de espera. . Cinco minutos después otro me llevaron a una mesa y nos dieron un menú. . Entonces vino el barman y tomó mi orden para tomar una copa y volver con mi zumo de fruta unos instantes más tarde. . Tuve que esperar 25 minutos para que alguien falso mi pedido y, esto sólo ocurrió porque pedí un camarero por qué nadie había llegado aún. . Entonces me puse mi orden por un entrante y un plato principal. . Después de otros 15 minutos preguntamos dónde estaba mi plato. Por ahora me había estado allí al menos 50 minutos. Ahora tuve tiempo de considerar un postre o café, que no me habían sido ofrecidas, así que después de mi plato que pedí la factura. Otra espere 15 minutos más tarde y acabo de salir de mi asiento y caminamos hasta el hasta a pagar. . Salida cuánto Afterpointing me llevó a conseguir a través de una inicial de un plato principal y popodums me dijeron "no lo hacen muy bien no? "En el llamado director. No hace falta decir que no tuve que pagar ningún cargo extra por el servicio. Me han adjudicado a una estrella porque la calidad de la comida era aceptable, pero nada especial.

The curry here is great and they have a huge authentic menu to select from. I especially enjoy the butter chicken.

2nd time we've had a take-out from here and both have been really good. Definitely recommend if you live in or around Linton.

Me he comido aquí muchas veces y revisado el personal tan amable, esta vez volví y el personal eran nada pero, rozando la mala educación, el camarero realmente no podía ser molestado y el director incluso menos. La comida era normal, como siempre, y la decoración se ha convertido en aburrido más iluminado e impersonal que los huéspedes sentir incómodos. Mi cuñado estaba de visita desde los estados unidos y me dio vergüenza ya que es donde el servicio es inigualable. ¿Por qué no me molestes, bien en futuro, no, hay numerosos restaurantes de curry que trump este, así que de verdad me sorprende cualquiera molesta, triste porque podría ser bueno.

Handy Indian restaurant toward the end of the village. Consistently good quality curries, however there has been a tendency of late for the sauces to be a bit more 'watery' than before. Overall good solid average.

Had a takeaway and became very sick the following day. Vomiting, diarrhoea, and stomach cramps. I can see from previous reviews that this has happened before.Won't go again.

In town for a quick overnight. Needed somewhere to eat dinner. We were very happy with the food quality and taste. The staff were friendly and helpful.

OK, we are very much locals having come here since the place opened but it still amazes me how a village tandoori can consistently serve food thats up there with the best of them, particularly classic dishes like Bhuna and Madras, the sides are excellent too. Tandoori stuff is very good, Id certainly recommend paying the extra for tikka on the curries. Decor is dated these days but service is still good, wine list although limited offers good choices and value and the beer isnt too bad either. Portions are defintiely more generous when eating in and the price seems to magically always be good value, particularly for bigger tables, we think there is a generous calculator at work ..........

The food was absolutely gorgeous, definitely will be back, the prices of the food were great, staff were friendly.

Not that great a restaurant as I would really say that the food served here is fairly bland. If you live in Linton then I would say that it is worth a visit only as you don't really have to travel far. However, once you visit this location please find a real tandoori restaurant and compare the two. I would also say that if your drunk then visit this location as the food will probably taste better when your a little tipsy. The words I would use to describe the food in this restaurant is bland, nothing special and mediocre. However, the service is OK (granted it did take 20 mins for the waiter to bring a water to the table even though we were the only table). I would suggest (if you have a car) go to Saffron in Bedford. The food is better and the staff more pleasent.

At last! We've found a good Indian restaurant for take away. The onion bhajis were nice and crunchy, I liked the selection of pickles that accompanied the poppadoms and the butter chicken was nearly as good as my homemade version! We will be using this again in the future.

Despite my view of this restaurant as average I find myself going back for either take away or the odd meal. The restaurant is pleasant and the staff friendly and helpful but its the food that just seems average. Its not that there is anything really wrong with it,more there is nothing special about it either. I do find that I feel that I am given the bare minimum, I generally have chicken dishes and always think 'why is there not more chicken in this?' This is a shame because what there is tastes good, its just a bit lacking in refinement.

Had to drive to collect as delivery would have been over 2 hours. It is very local though. Food was absolutely lovely. Highly recommended.

I am very fond of this little restaurant. Although we normally order food to take away, we have enjoyed several meals here over the past few years. The food is always very good and the kitchen are very accommodating with special requests. I always find the staff to be friendly enough though friends and family members tell me that they have found them to be rude on some occasions. It's a nice place though and it serves delicious food.

Went for a family meal and loved it, that is probably the problem plus I dislike wasting food (the group not me). I had picked what I wanted be for we got to the restaurant and was not disappointed, even though I actually had less than I was planning. I Also ate some of the leftovers that others could not manage. The food was really tasty ad the service was not bad either.I would go here again!

I have been coming here since the opening week ,as with many curry restaurants thay have there ups and downs all depends on what day you go and who the chef is.five of us went on Christmas Eve for a family meal and I have to say it was the best curry I have ever eaten ....try the Narga it's great.

I've probably been here 20 times and my wife more like 50 times. It cannot be perfect every time can it? If we had a poor meal then the staff would put it right. We are regulars, so why wouldn't they? Sometimes the food is different, sometimes the staff are having an off dayBefore Xmas they were really busy and coped reasonably well. Now it's quiet - especially weekdays. We went on a Wednesday at 8.30pm and were the only customers. Food and service was very good.

I was greeted by a cheerful friendly Waitress and offered a drink straight away, the food arrived quickly and was tasty, hot and a good sized portion, the staff are constantly on hand should you need anything. The meal was a little more expensive than other places but it is worth paying for quality.

I'm not a great fan of Indian food but went here with family as a change and was pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly and helpful. We didn't have to wait too long despite quite a large party having a birthday celebration were there at the same time. I enjoyed my Kashmiri chicken although II think it contained more lychees than chicken. My husband took home his ice cream container character for my grandson and he was really chuffed.

We have been here on and off for the last year and always had a reasonable curry but last Monday had the worst experience ever. 3 out of 4 of us had dreadful food poisoning and upsets - suspect tikka masala as that was the common linkKnocked us out for 3 days - very sorry to say we will not be going back here ever again which is sad for a village takeaway but cannot risk this happening again

Watery tasteless curry .... Things must have changed , horrible curry had 6 bits of chicken , rice was best part of meal .Only take out in village will give a miss in future Food standard rating of 2 also worrying

We've been going here for years now, and it's been consistently great. We always sit in the restaurant, so I'm not sure what the take-away is like, but they seem to serve a lot of it!We have moved away from the area, but still travel back to eat here.The only bad experience I've ever had was when I visited with a friend who has a very severe dairy intolerance (due to having Crohn's disease), and they accidentally served him something with butter in it! They don't seem very well equipped to deal with food intolerances like this.The bottom line is, though: if you don't have a food intolerance, and you want really excellent Indian food, this is the place to go. It really is.

Ive been visiting the Linton Tandoori since it opened and struggle to remember having anything other than a great meal.The food is well spiced, and the chefs will prepare almost any dish you ask for, service is usual Indian restaurant standard.

Short and sweet review.......Our first visit last week.Great food...amazing curry and the best onion bhaji's I have ever tasted.Terribly slow service.Really fancied a desert, but after waiting 30 minutes to order, decided to eat ice cream at home.That said, I am looking forward to going back soon.The take away service looked very very busy, so that maybe why the restaurant is a bit slow !!

Excellent choice of all your Indian favourites and all reasonably priced and quick service, would recommend the Balti.

As the only take away in Linton,at present, we decided to try again for a meal.I don't know what most expect, but 2/3 pieces of chicken in sauces does not fulfilled my expectations as a main course, given the cost.Yes I could have phoned to complain, but I have already left home...walked there, walked home...and been gutted..... Didn't want another double walk..... Made some extra nans from the cupboard and had with the sauce.Have enjoyed meals as sit in....but this was a real disappointment...... They have nothing to compete with.... And our experience was a disappointment , sadly.

Don't Judge a Book by its Cover!! Me and my mum recently stayed in the fourwentways Travelodge on Business and was looking for a local restaurant. With not too much choice in the local area we found the Linton tandoori after finding a takeaway leaflet. We arrived there and had a look and wasn't too keen on the look of the restaurant and decided to leave it. After speaking to a local down the road he assured us the food was very good soo we headed back. We were very glad we did as the food was excellent, very tasty. Would definitely re visit next time we are saying in the area.

We returned to this restaurant after a break of a few years, to find it is just as good. The food and service are excellent. We got there early on a Saturday evening and got a table without booking, however it did fill up quickly, so recommend booking if you want to eat after 7pm. We will return when we're in the area.

We went to this great little restaurant at the suggestion of my daughter when the Italian restaurant we originally planned to visit proved to be shut (d'oh!). WHAT A LUCK BREAK! Located in a smallish village the Linton Tandoori is located in a 1960's looking block but is nicely laid out with a good atmosphere , clean, bright and welcoming. The selection of food was excellent and everyone of my party of 5 had different food and EVERYONE loved everything, a most unusual situation showing the range of the kitchens abilities. It is now a must go to restaurant and so we shall be back !

Had a few takeaways from here over the last couple of months the foods good nothing mind blowing but certainly edible otherwise would not go back.The restaurant looks pleasant the guys serving and waiting on are friendly shall have to eat in the restaurant soon

Really enjoyed our takeaway from Linton Tandoori last night. Very tasty food, good portions, friendly staff. Will definitely be going back for more.

Ate here on twice both on a Saturday night. Staff very friendly, nothing is too much trouble. Both occasions we didn't book a table but there was no problem in getting one.Food was very good on both occasions.

Really busy but we called first to ensure a table was available. Wally is the owner and always greets us with a smile. The Cobra beer is good, and you need this because when it's busty the service is a little slower.I had a Chicken Balti and it was as good as I have had for a long time. Not too spicy but full of flavour! No side dishes, just a garlic naan, and the food was plenty.This was the best dish I have had here and I did wonder if the chef was different on a Saturday? Need to go back on a weekday and compare.

We always get a friendly welcome when we visit the Linton Tandoori. The food is consistently excellent. There are some exciting new dishes on the menu which we are looking forward to trying. We can recommend the Chicken Sizzler - wonderful. A big THANK YOU to all of the staff who always look after us whenever we visit.

I had never used Linton Tandoori until recently and have been back several times since for takeaway. The food is exceptionally good and full of flavour. Dishes and nice and spicy and never dissapoint, I have recommended this restaurant to lots of people and it a really great place to grab a takeaway. I have tried many dishes off their menu and have yet to find one I dislike.

We moved to Linton in november, and have now had a takeaway from Linton Tandoori twice. Both times the food was delicious, and we really enjoyed our meals. When my partner went to collect our food, it wasn't quite ready, and he was offered a complimentary drink. He didn't have to wait long, and was soon back with our meals. Everything was very tasty, with generous portions. The price may be a little too high, but as they are the only indian restaurant/takeaway in the area, that is to be expected. Will definitely go back for more, and hopefully sit in for a meal at some point. Really recommend!

The service is good with friendly staff. Extensive menu reasonably priced. Draught beer available and it's cold!! Food is a little more spicy than expected so ask for it milder if this is your preference.

Having been a Linton resident for some time, I have eaten here numerous times.. Never again though...We had a rough takeaway from here around 6 months ago, (watery sauce) and decided to give it a miss for a while..We got another takeaway a few weekends back and was again disappointed. My vindaloo was again watery, with hardly any potato, and hard yet limited chicken. My wife's mild curry was again watery and lacking in chicken. I believe this place feels it has a monopoly as it is the only local curry house for some distance. Time for a new chef and a review of their pricing is needed, and some competition would be welcome.

A quick fly past takeaway for 4 people, not impressed with the quality, quite greasy lacked in taste, veg curry was like soup ... Sauces in other dishes also lacked substance

This is my favourite Indian restaurant, and I include Ely and Cambridge in that, along with Indian restaurants in other parts of the country. We've been going here for years, and the food is consistently excellent - full of flavour, fresh, and the meat is always juicy and never dry. On the whole it's good value for money too, the only exception was being charged £4 for a bottle of still water (which is crazy!), but the overall bill still came out reasonably priced.Bottom line: I've eaten here over a dozen times, and every time the food has been excellent. Well worth a visit.

Tasty food, much preferred by the locals. The staff is friendly and they'll make sure that you have a nice experience there.
