What's happened ? It's gone from the very best to the worst. Everything's changed. The new menu is childish. One slice of cheese on toast for £10 !! Such a sad loss. Sometimes businesses are forced under due to unfortunate external forces but this one is self harming.

We popped down to the Harley cafe a few days ago, the food was excellent and the coffee was to die for. I would like to give a personal thank you to Maddie. She was polite, smiley, efficient and told us about how much she loved her job. (Giving excellent reccomendations for the Vennison Kofta too!). This place gets better everytime I come in, we can’t wait to pop back!

Visited with an elderly relative, who has mobility issues, waited outside until someone came out and said they only had high stools to sit on and felt my relative wouldn't be able to sit on them, so we walked away and was wondering where to get a coffee from, a few seconds later someone came out shouting that they have found a table, so we quickly turned around and made our way in. Coffee was ordered and we were only given a few seconds before someone else came to take our order, we felt this was a little rushed as we had literally only just sat down and was still reading the menu. We both ordered poached eggs on toast which arrived swiftly as did the coffee, which wasn't hot, some folk don't mind warm coffee but I like mine hot, drinkable and still nice but just hot to my liking. The food arrived and it was very nice, a proper runny poached egg and rather nice toast. Not cheap at £6.50 for the food simple as it was the price could have been a bit lower. A nice experience to say were were just driving around, perhaps we would come again if we happen to be in the area.

We live over the road so visit The Harley Cafe frequently. Until recently we have been mostly happy with the food but for some reason it has really deteriorated. A few weeks ago I had Rogan Josh which was extremely dry and too thick (you shouldn't need to chew the sauce) and today I chose Confit Duck. It arrived and looked very nice but that is where it ended. It tasted of nothing but cooking oil. There was no herbs/spices or seasoning in it. To say it was bland is an understatement. My daughter had Leek and Potato soup which was much too salty. My partner had a Welsh Rarebit - 1 small/medium piece of bread, very salty cheese, a bit of rocket and shallot for £10! What has happened to this place? It used to be so nice, now it seems the food is just created to look good and no thought is put into ensuring it actually tastes good. We won't be visiting again.

Visited the Welbeck Estate yesterday and had lunch at the cafe. Staff very helpful seating us, as I have hip problems and can't climb up on to high stools. The food was good and used local seasonal produce - we had an interesting conversation with a member of the waiting staff about the parsnip bhaji, which was delicious! Very pleasant service. The only reason for not giving top marks was having to queue outside in a cold wind.

We have visited the cafe many times over the years when visiting the farm shop. The last few weeks we have seen a decline in the food but most importantly the service. It now seems the cafe is run for the benefit of the staff not the customers. You’re made to stand outside no matter the weather waiting for a member of staff to take you to a table even though there’s lots of space. The staff are focused on getting you in and getting you out in the shortest space of time. There used to be some lovely staff now you’re made to feel like an inconvenience! I asked if I could have some bacon a sausage and 2 poached eggs. The member of staff said we can’t do that I’ll have to put it through as poached eggs on toast with sausage and bacon. So basically they can do it and I didn’t need to know I was making life difficult for him putting it through the till. There’s another cafe inside the garden centre I think we’ll be going there in future!

Popped in for some lunch after walking to Creswell Crags with my parents and 7-month-old baby. The team made us feel so welcome, bringing over a children’s menu but also asking what my little boy would like to eat - he had beans on toast and it was a good size portion for a very reasonable price. We were really made to feel like nothing was a problem and enjoyed a delicious lunch.

Great food until I witnessed both the chef and another team member use the same spoon to taste test food. When I voiced my concerns I was advised it was the staff soup!! Not sure if I worked there I’d want to eat the soup my colleagues had taste tested using the same spoon. Plus it’s irrelevant whose food it is it shows bad practice in hygiene. Also you may want to put the over door heater on so that customers food and drinks are kept warm while staff are in and out of the door.

We was seated at our table after being told we should of waited outside in the rain to be welcomed in before a hello. Ordered a coffee and browsed the menu, we were approached twice in a short amount of time to order food even tho it was very apparent we were looking at the menu, so on the third visit I picked something off the menu before knowing all the options as I didn't want say we wasn't ready a third time. I had mushrooms on toast, in a nutshell they were literally swimming in oil, it turned my stomach, I couldn't eat them. We went to pay at the counter, to where we were now asked if everything was ok with our meal. I told the woman the mushrooms were very greasy and I couldn't eat it. Her response? "Oh bless you" (absolutely astonishing reposone, why ask?) I asked if the feedback would be passed onto the chef as I was left confused about the situation. She did say it would be passed onto the chef and that unfortunately the chef can not accommodate to everyone's tastes!? This insinuates the food was fine and it was me, last time I checked nobody likes their food dripping in oil. What a defensive response! Anyway.. top tip! Train the staff to have a clear structure to what happens when a customer isn't happy with the food they have purchased. Even better... Do a curtsy check while we are eating and this could have resolved the situation there and then and meant you'd of had our returning custom. Shame really as I visit weekly for my meat and veg.

Loved it here but not anymore so sad when things change. Nothing really makes sense you have to stand outside to wait for a seat even though there’s loads so pointless! All staff race around but dont need to Theres more staff than customers. My husbands breakfast roll was made from Precooked sausage and bacon and the roll was stale he struggled to chew it. I asked before ordering if my scone was fresh made today and was told it was this was not true it was so dry it was reduced to dust when trying to butter it. I was reminded why I had not been for such a while this was not a relaxing child free morning breakfast but a rip off and although over staffed no check backs we were served by 3 different staff bizarre to be honest running around does not make you look busy it makes customers feel Uncomfortable. I also watched the chef put items on a plate with his hands not great. Bring back the smiley helpful staff

Lovely cafe with great amenities around it (Harley Gallery, Welbeck Farm Shop, Dukeries Garden Centre, the Harley Art Trail) This was my second visit, both times the staff have been so welcoming and friendly. Great cake! My friend enjoyed her pumpkin soup and sandwich too (£13). I paid £6 for my sticky date & toffee cake and £2.50 for a pot of tea which I think was reasonable. I visisted this cafe along with my wife and 10 month old son today. We received some brilliant customer service. We waited a short while outside before we were seated inside. My wife is currently dairy and egg free as our young son is allergic and she is still feeding him. We ordered the brisket sandwich and clarified that it was dairy free but when it arrived we realised it had mayonnaise with it which contained eggs. The female member of staff brought us an additional dish without the mayo without any fuss. Even though this was our mistake the staff acted in a personal and professional way. The gentleman who seemed to be the cafe manager was brilliant with our son throughout our visit and even brought us out a complimentary dish to try. The food was good and exactly what you would expect from this price point but the customer service went above and beyond.

My Wife had Poached eggs on toast, a meal which was elevated by inclusion of Welbeck’s Cacklebean eggs. Our friend and I plumped for the Breakfast Sandwich. My Sandwich of choice was bacon and poached egg. My friend chose Sausage and poached egg. The bap/cob was sundried tomato. We both agreed that they were the best breakfast sandwich we had ever eaten. I like to think of myself as a bit of a flapjack connoisseur, and trust me, I've eaten a few in my time. Last week I had one in Suffolk that was not worthy of anyone's review, but that's another story..... Suffice to say, despite the lateness of our arrival at Welbeck we were made incredibly welcome and the lattes, flapjack and egg custard tart (think 'creme pat' rather than anything slimy or thin in texture - both experienced with commercial shop fayre) were the best this side of anywhere I've been. Thank you to Rick, Darren and the team. We will be back :)

Came here on a whim for something different. Warmly welcomed and given a choice of tables inside or out. Lovely day for a change so opted for al fresco. Soup of the day was sweet potato, chill and lime and it is offered with any of the offered sandwiches for £1 extra instead of salad or wedges accompaniment to the sandwich, which is an absolute bargain! I had the smoked brisket from the farm shop in focaccia, which melted in the mouth to reveal great depth of flavour, and my wife had the mortadella and pest with Parmesan on focaccia, which she said was delicious too. Tempted by the desserts we went for sticky toffee pudding and classic lemon tart, which were both excellent also. Highly recommended

I visited with friends as I have many times and the food was lovely. However, we were told we had one hour before they needed our table and after 35 minutes a waitress asked if she could bring our bill. Prior to this, she had taken the plates of my friends away whilst I was still eating which I find really rude. As soon as she bought the bill she came back with the card machine. I pointed out that we'd been told we had 1 hour, and was told that the next people were booked in within that hour. We counted the empty seats when we were told we must go and there were 14. I appreciate they could be reserved and in these difficult times you have to run to strict timing to optimise your income, but I have never been made to feel so uncomfortable whilst eating a meal, that and the fact that whilst we were in there, we were asked 5 times by 2 different people if everything was okay,it was all too much and we won't be visiting again until this pandemic has done one!

We came to The Harley Cafe for lunch on my partners Birthday and were treated like royalty. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and attentive and the food (and coffee) was delicious. They provided for a party of 6 vegans with ease.I am very grateful that they made celebrating a birthday during Covid so enjoyable and special. We will absolutely be returning.

Sat outside for capuccino's and hot chocolate as a first stop after a statutory wedding in Worksop. It was lovely in that the staff who served us were charming and helpful in these challenging times, and when we came to pay there was an oh-so-thoughtful gift. The setting is tranquil and delightful, the staff human, helpful and informative, ... we plan to go back for lunch very soon.

Visited late afternoon on a Saturday. Really impressed by the service and selection - we were greeted and seated really quickly, and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful, with one staff member (apologies, I’m not sure of the name) going out of their way to visit the farm shop to find a vegan cake for me. Above and beyond what we’d expect! We also felt very safe with the COVID-19 measures. Will definitely be back!

Visited on bank holiday Monday. The staff were so warm and welcoming, whilst having to navigate the difficulties of distancing and extra cleaning. Delicious lunch and cakes. Highly recommended.

All the family enjoyed the food, good location and the service was very good. Appreciate it is geared at a high end cafe as opposed to a restaurant but perhaps could do one or two more “mains” options? That said I had the duck which was one of the less “snack” focused choices and it was very good.

Monday this week whilst out cycling, I called at The Harley Cafe, a place visited by friends family and I on so many occasions. Always enjoyed our visit. Queued in the “walk in” line and when asked what I wanted, asked very politely “any chance of a takeaway coffee and cake”. Have done this so many times throughout Lockdown. Have supported the adjoining Farm Shop and spent significant sums on all products, even takeaway coffees. After questioning the Manager, the lady returned to say “ Sorry were too busy to do takeaway coffees.” The Harley was clearly busy now Lockdown has passed But I was very disappointed in the dismissal of my simple request. Very disappointed as I have recommended so many people to visit here including fellow cyclists. How long does it take to make a coffee. Coffee, hot water, milk and a beaker. Guess my custom isn’t needed anymore. Brendanp

We booked early (yes it is still the middle of a pandemic and spaces are necessarily limited!) for breakfast on the Eat out to help out offer as we knew it would be busy. The team were professional, organised and friendly as always. Breakfasts are great value at any time, but with 50% off they are brilliant, and I could have one every day if only my cholesterol levels would allow! Thanks Darren and all.

I felt compelled to write a review for one of our favourite cafes as after going today, I noticed the very bad comments people have made in the most recent reviews on here during this very difficult time. We felt that the staff were very polite as usual and that they acted very professionally in regards to the current rules (I think the recent bad reviewers think there is no Covid any more?) We noticed that there were quite a few empty tables when we arrived too, but they ALL had “reserved” on them and they soon were full once we were seated.I cannot understand how anyone can turn up at a place for food or drink at the moment without booking and then have the cheek to criticise that they could not be accommodated! We enjoyed our lunch today as we always do here (everything on the menu is good) and the cake after too of course.

Arrived at the head of the correct queue for people who hadn't made a reservation at 11.30 am. All we wanted was a cup of tea- take out would have been fine if available but we weren't given that option. Instead we were met (and I am careful here NOT to use the word 'greeted' by their front of house/queue manager/ reservations checker (the clipboard was a giveaway actually). Outside the back of the cage there is a large marquee that had around 20 tables I could see with 1 occupied. Outside there were no free spaces but we would have been happy to wait. We weren't given that option either. The conversation went like this:Have you a reservation? (no hello or anything)Us "no but we just want a drink""well I'm expecting my lunchtime rush soon (as I've mentioned it was 11.30am) and I can't free any tables"Us (bemused given the empty marquee outside) "Ok then thank you"It was only when we returned to the car we both shared the same thought. "wow that was rude!" The words 'can do attitude' do apply even when you can't, dear Harley cafe. It's a behaviour as much as anything. Your gateway person was not admitting entry to the Dorchester but acted as if they were. We felt quite put down by this person when there was absolutely no need.

I love this cafe and normally have Really good visits with excellent service. Today was different and for some reason the welcome wasn’t so warm - I was definitely put in my place. Decided to go elsewhere for a coffee which is a shame as we visit regularly.

After visiting the Gallery enjoyed lunch outside. I ate the duck and my companion soup and sandwich, and frangipane tart with clotted cream.. All were excellent. Service very friendly and efficient - especially to be commended as today 1 August was, I think, first day reopened. I'll hope to revisit both the gallery and this cafe again soon.

Having had such a bad experience at Thoresby we have found this as our future venue. They were really well organised for Covid and social distancing. Nothing was too much trouble. The member of our party who has to be on a low carb diet was specifically catered for with an off the menu choice. The staff were pleasant, hard working, polite, frend;y and hard working. Great afternoon with a vist to the garden centre.

Having seen a link on Facebook to see that the cafe was reopening today and you could prebook - we did. It was a great birthday treat (albeit a day late,,,). Clear guidelines, easy to follow, exceptionally hard working and friendly staff and great food. What more could we want. Loved the marquee setting. Let’s hope that the cafe will continue to flourish. Thank you to everyone. Your hard work and ‘extra’ work is really appreciated.

Very busy and bustling cafe at 1.0 pm and because there was only 2 of us and we were happy to share a table , we got seated quickly and the food came fast too.The mushrooms on toast was a huge helping, the sourdough toast crunchy and the poached eggs just right. Always enjoy the food here

Our party of three called in for brunch on a visit to the Harley Gallery - what a treat! Two of us had the savoury croissant, while the other had French Toast - all were well presented, absolutely delicious and great value for money. Great, friendly, helpful staff and a steady flow of satisfied customers make this an excellent place to visit. Next time I am in the area I will definitely call in here to eat, maybe for one of the delicious looking cakes that were on display!
