A warm welcome from Debbie and all the staff at Lilburns Bar and Restaurant. What a wonderful find. Moved to Alnwick nearly 4 years ago and only just found this place. Can highly recommend the chicken with langoustines in a tarragon sauce and the slow cooked lamb shank. Great value for top notch food. We'll be back to sample the rest of the menu.

Had a great valentine's evening dinner here, it's so unpretentious, just serving wonderful food in a cosy atmosphere. Great choices and no issues if you want to mix from the menus, staff were smashing and so helpful. Thanks for the roses.🥰 Looking forward to our next visit.

I don't have enough superlatives in my vocabulary to extole the virtues of this restaurant. The food was stunning, the staff attentive though not obtrusive and the atmosphere was superb. We normally have dinner at the hotel we always stay in in Alnwick which is why we've never visited before. That's all changed. We will be recommending this place to everyone we know who goes to Alnwick. Having a chat with the chef after the meal showed us exactly what the ethic of the place is, seasonality and locally sourced.

Stopoed here to find refuge from the rain, and were not disappointed. Their soup was delicious, and the service was quick and friendly. We will be back.

We had an excellent meal. The staff we’re welcoming and friendly with great service. Price was reasonable especially for the portions which were great. Food looked and tasted amazing for both vegetarian and meat eaters alike. Menu was extensive and full of good local produce. A definite winner in our eyes.

Went in for just coffee and cake. Waited 20 minutes to be served but were only allowed to order drinks despite asking about having cake. We had finished these by the time anyone bothered to ask if we wanted food. We were cross by then and left. Other people in the place were waiting equally as long so it wasn't just us.

The food here was exceptional and the service the same... Reasonably priced I would highly recommend a visit, we will definitely be back ......

This was my favourite restaurant on my trip to Alnwick. The chef used to work for the Duke in the past and I'm not surprised. The food was cooked fresh right next to where we sat. It was excellent. The lamb and duck dishes were amazing The owners clearly have a passion for what they do and are very friendly and chatty. I'd definitely recommend try Lilburns out at least once on your trip.

Quick lunch stop here. Food was very good and arrived quickly after ordering. Staff friendly - lost count how many times they went up and down the stairs to the kitchen. Prices seemed pretty reasonable.

On a foul night, with two of our number having just completed the Macmillan Mighty Hike, and we being an hour late for our booking (having warned them), we were greeted with warmth and understanding; and when one of the walkers had what could have been a medical emergency, all the staff were attentive but not intrusive (we had medics in our group). They were lovely and good-humoured throughout on a busy evening. Oh...and the food was excellent - great choice, with plenty of modestly priced dishes, and a great-sounding a la carte menu too. We went away happy bunnies, and will return!!

Every time we have eaten here the food is fantastic , infact nothing can come up to match the quality. The service is second to none., nothing is a problem. Full marks to the team❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Almost killed my sister My sister has a severe nut allergy (can result in anaphylaxis) and informed the staff members 3 times both before ordering and when the food arrived as the meal appeared to have pesto on it which she worried may contain nuts. We were reassured by the staff that her meal did not contain any nuts and was safe to eat. After the meal, as we were leaving, my sister began to feel unwell so I asked the chef directly to confirm the meal was nut free to which he rather rudely responded "yes, I make the pesto in house, it contains basil, olive oil and lemon juice only. We are a nut free site." We paid and left. A few minutes later, a staff member came out and informed us that on the ingredients list of the PREMADE pesto, not homemade as the chef had claimed, cashew nuts were listed as an ingredient. So the pesto did in fact containMy sister then had to be injected with her epi pen and 999 was called taking her to A and E in an ambulance. What should have been a nice meal out whilst on our family holiday resulted in a traumatic scare for my sister and family. This event is due to negligence which could have been avoided with a simple check and instead resulted in a very serious, and potentially fatal, incident.

Lovely little find, great freshly cooked food and wonderful friendly service.

Food was exceptional off the a la carte menu. Service was professional and attentive, and staff very friendly. Nice to be able to compliment the chef at the end of the evening. We were the last to leave but the staff still had time to chat. Thoroughly recommend.

Arrogant and appallingly negligent chef insisted THREE TIMES that a dish served to my daughter - who has a severe nut allergy - was entirely nut free, that they were a nut free premises, and that the dish ingredients [in question] were fully HOME MADE and nut free. Within minutes she began to experience an anaphylactic allergic reaction, and it was only at this point that staff acknowledged that there were Cashew nuts listed on the PACKET of the ingredients. After administering her EpiPen, a call to 999, an ambulance ride and 10hrs in A&E she thankfully made a full recovery (thanks NHS :D ) I hope others heed this warning, as mistakes are one thing but arrogant life-threatening lies like the ones we got from this chef are unforgivable.

Can’t comment on the food as waited nearly 20 minutes while others other orders were taken and we were ignored. Went to order and got told to sit sit down and wait! Waited and then got up and left after a further 10 minutes. Appalling.

We have visited three times for our kids birthday trips and have always enjoyed our meals. The fillet steaks are fabulous and I would never turn down their Eton mess. Highly recommend as lovely service too 😊

Absolutely beautiful lunch today at Lilburns. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing too much trouble. Every single meal we saw come out of the kitchen was stunning in presentation. Real works of art. The oohs and aahs from other customers echoed our own as our meals were just delicious. All incredibly reasonable in price too. I can't recommend this place highly enough. It's the treat of our yearly holidays to Northumberland. We had the belly pork and muscles in garlic sauce.

It was a great place for lunch, and I would imagine dinner, too. Good portions and really tasty food. Not overly expensive or busy and friendly attentive staff. We're going back for breakfast!

Cheeseburger-meh Crab cakes- hard no Lobster bisque-meh Drinks(alcoholic)-good. Our servers were great! We really enjoyed them but the food was lacking.

Was down from Edinburgh for my wife's birthday weekend. We thought we would try Lilburn's for a birthday treat. We were glad we did, helpful, pleasant and attentive staff. The food was excellent, French based cuisine from the a la carte menu that was on par, if not better than some of the restaurants we have been to in France in the last few years. We'll worth visiting if you are in the area.

Having eaten here before it was no surprise to find it, if possible, even better. This time we had two friends from Livingston, Scotland with us. We had a great night with the same quality of food and friendliness of staff as we have had before. Thank you so much. We are already looking forward to the next time

We stopped here for a bite to eat. Found the staff to be friendly and approachable, helpful. The food was amazing and we were impressed with the adaptation of over 99% of the menu items could be adapted to be Gluten free. Would strongly recommend this Restaurant for good quality food and a great welcoming place to stop for a bite to eat.

What an amazing find! My first visit to Alnwick and Lilburns has made it a treat of a visit. Amazing, friendly service reflective of this beautiful town and steaks cooked to perfection and a dessert to die for! Super value wine list too. Looking forward to a return visit soon.

Food was okay ...they were accomodating to allergies. Starters were the best thing. 2 courses plus 2 glasses of wine £70+. Bench seating needs a good clean. All staff were very helpful.

Nice family run Cafe just of the market square. Bacon and Blue cheese Baguette and fries went down well. Clean and airy. Pleasant staff serving lunch time menu.

Didn't know what to expect from this place when were visiting Alnwick for a few days but we sure weren't disappointed. Amazing food ! A hidden gem of a place tucked away but not hidden, a lovely place run by lovely people, very attentive and polite. The chef really excels in the preparation and presentation of food, so tasty. A good choice on the menu and also a well stocked bar. A very clean place with a good atmosphere. Clean toilets. We will definitely call again if ever we're in this area. Can recommend.

I’m 9 years old and my dad and mum took me to Lilburns and I loved it, the food was great . Great prices and the owner cooked for the Queen. Full family restaurant and so friendly , and I finished my whole fillet steak .

Avoid at all costs. Four of us booked dinner to celebrate a birthday. We were, unfortunately for us, put on a table in a corner. The first course for all of us was very good. Just as we were being served the main course a group of 18 men arrived and were shown to two tables right along side ours. They started as they meant to go on, shouting across the two tables. We couldn’t hear each other speak and eventually gave up trying to do so. We were also unable to hear the server when she spoke to us. There was a party of 10 on the other side of us who were incredibly considerate no shouting and ridiculous guffaws. The owner was present and should have asked these men to keep the noise down. Instead she crept around them with £££ signs flashing before her eyes. The main course was as disappointing as the evening, the rack of lamb was tough and the duck chewy and tasteless. What should have been a happy evening was spoilt and cut short as we could stand it no longer. We had no apology and grudgingly handed over £150.00 for one of the worst evenings on record. I wrote to the owners to point out our birthday celebration was spoilt because of their total lack of respect for us as diners. Unfortunately and true to form they chose to ignore us.

Wow what a find this place was..... homemade lasagne, chips and garlic bread. So very tasty and hot ! Fantastic staff, clean and attentive. I wish I lived next door as I'd never cook again.

Fantastic value and quality. Stumbled across this place when walking round Alnwick, lovely meal for the four of us. Very accommodating of children and families too.

Wow, wow, wow, where to start. This place is tucked away in the centre of Alnwick and we think it's a must visit. So make sure you go out of your way to find it. The food is absolutely delicious, there's a great menu with plenty to choose from, we had crabcakes to start, chicken and langoustine for one of the mains and sea bass with crushed potatoes and chorizo for another, both served with veg. Then cheesecake for dessert. My mouth is watering remembering it. The food was complimented with some fantastic, fuss free, polite and professional service. For drinks we had a fantastic rose wine and draft Kronenbourg which tasted so nice and perfectly pulled. After our meal we had the opportunity to chat with the owners who were really nice and warm and friendly. They have put a lot of work and effort into this business and it shows. We can't recommend this place highly enough. We will definitely go back.

This is a true gem. Inspired cooking by a wonderful chef, a very friendly and well organised service, and food that according to us is amongst the very best we have ever eaten during our multiple tours through Scotland. We choose the chicken paté and garlic mushrooms as starters, continued with the rack of lamb and the duck breast as main courses, and finished with really good espresso. It might seem strange for people who live in Belgium and have to take a ferry, but we will certainly come back.

Really great little restaurant - highly recommend. Good menu - not cheap but the food was great. I had the Cumberland sausage with gravy and mash - excellent. Service was a tad slow but it was peak lunchtime.

We both enjoyed our seared tuna. It's pink tender and succulent to perfection. It also came with vegetables and New potatoes, which was a pleasant surprise because we didn't tell that from the menu. Service very friendly. A letter at the entrance showed Prince Philip used to find here. A very interesting place with quality, history and family tradition.

Went today for lunch. Varied menu. Nice seating upstairs. Staff accommodating. Food that we ordered came as described and was good. Unfortunately no cakes or tray bakes to have with coffees. Latte cups are absolutely tiny !!

Great staff, friendly and mostly efficient. Fillet steak with peppercorn sauce was delicious and didn't cost a small fortune.

Excellent service and food. Fitted us in on Good Friday, the cod and chips was brilliantly cooked and the sticky toffee pudding looked and tasted divine. Thanks for a great meal.

A lovely little place, tucked off the main street. We landed lucky with a window table on a sunny day. Great fish and chips with lovely service, even knocking up some curry sauce as the wife likes it with her chips!

Always hard to find somewhere to suit everyone,but this came up trumps and we had 4 different delicious meals.I was very impressed by the chef who appeared to offer me gluten free batter for my fish.Makes such a difference!

Picked this restaurant last minute and owners made the effort to accommodate us even though they were very busy. Lovely fresh food and veg, had garlic prawns to start then duck in orange my parter had filo pastry parcels stuffed with cheese then lamb cutlets with a tasty crumb on top, every dish was delicious and cooked to perfection. Will certainly return if we're in the area. Met the Scottish chef and his partner at the end of meal had had a grand wee blether.

Super tasty meals here. 3 of us all had superb meals. I ordered a pork belly slow roast and it was falling apart tender. Tasty and perfect for a cold day.

Felt let down. Staff very unfriendly, which is unusual up here. Got our order wrong, twice and then quite ungracious.
