A lovely nights stay on a trip for work. Very comfortable, with a coffee machine and plenty of pods. The staff and owners were very welcoming and attentive. It was pie night in the restaurant which looked great, not forgetting to mention a great pint of Guinness. Breakfast cooked fresh & a lot to choose from.

While passing through we happened to visit Lifton Hall restaurant, and since it was Sunday we were able to order Sunday Roast. It was delicious, roasted meat with the tastiest side dishes you can imagine, such as potato gratin dauphinois, beetroot, peas, cauliflower. roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, carrots, carrot puree, gravy and horseradish. It tasted like grandma's used to. And the service was very friendly, helpful and fast. We were very happy with this accidental discovery.

Lovely old pub/restaurant, staff are friendly and the food is delicious and well presented. Handmade sauces and desserts. Sunday dinner is superb too, catering for vegetarians and meat lovers, lovely selection of vegetables and amazing homemade Yorkshire pudding. Well worth a visit. Thank you Rob and Richard (the owners) 🥰

We looked for a place to eat on our first night in Lifton. What a perfect choice it was. Great atmosphere, lovely service and the food was excellent. Recommend the naked beetroot burger with extra salad. If we had not already enjoyed a proper afternoon tea this holiday, I would definitely come back to try the farmers tea.

Superb food with a lovely twist ( Small cup of soup, springs rolls) not too heavy on the sweet, perfectly balanced. WILL GO BACK. Apple crumble with the custard under the crumble topping truly inspired. Lovely intimate setting.

Welcoming and traditional English pub that was a complete pleasure to stop for lunch in -could have stayed all afternoon! Food was good pub food, reasonably priced and tasty. Pub is a breath of fresh air where village pubs are concerned - it’s spot on!

Went in for hot drinks only, so no food ordered. However the cake looked very good and prices are very reasonable. The cafe is a social space run by people connected to the local church. It's not open for long hours as it's a volunteer staffed cafe. Our drinks were excellent and the people there were really friendly and welcoming. Sad that we didn't eat anything, as going out after. It's a real community meeting place in a small village, so it's really important to the residents. If you're lucky enough to be in Bere Alston when it's open, do visit and support the community. You won't regret it! There are good small shops in the village too. Local butcher is well worth supporting. Good luck to the cafe, and the good hearted staff.

The most delicious breakfast with a generous amount of smashed avocado and poached egg, bacon with gorgeous dressing. The zingy freshly squeezed juice gave me the shot of Vitamin D I needed and strong oat latte finished off my delicious breakfast/brunch. Loved the art work and friendly team. Definitely will be returning next time in Chagford.
