Great experience, we got a voucher for evening spa and meal. Spa was great and relaxing, then we went for a meal. Our server Mia was fantastic, very efficient and and always with a smile on her face. Thank you Mia for making our stay so nice.

Update 17/3/25 Lifehouse spa & hotel never responded to me about my experience, very disappointing. I was reluctant to write this review, I sent an email once we checked out to express my concerns and discomfort. However, nobody bothered to reply to me, which is very disappointing. Positives Very nice clean room, comfortable bed Lovely grounds Food was good quality Wave massage bed is relaxing and a new experience to me, I haven't seen it in other places. Sauna and steam rooms are very good. Clean pool area with fresh towels. Negatives The massage I had was absolutely awful, the worst I have ever had, I do have quite regular massages but have never experienced something like this. The massage therapist did a different massage to I booked. He did deep tissue, not a relaxing hot stone massage with medium pressure as I filled out on the form prior. He saw I was uncomfortable, and I confirmed the pressure was too much, but he continued. He used stones that were far too hot, and I flinched on more than one occasion. I really should have just left, but I felt too uncomfortable to leave and just left waited until it ended. It also felt very rushed, I have seen others comment this too. At the end of the massage, he then told me, "I know it was painful, but you have knots in your back," so it was very clear he knew what he was doing and continued. At this point, I felt completely violated and just wanted to go home. After spending £600 for relaxing stay, I went home feeling stressed and quite upset. I was also in a considerable amount of pain. My partner also had a hot stone massage but said it was relaxing. However, it was a very rushed feeling as well. We asked before our meal what was included, they said it was 3 courses, however at the end she said it was actually 2, she charged us for the more expensive starter rather than charging for the dessert. I felt this was unfair, as we were not informed properly at the beginning of the meal when we purposely asked to avoid this. Ice cold corridor to get to our room, not comfortable in a bathrobe.

A great relaxing day but the venue is looking really tired and is in desperate need of a refit. And I dread to think how much revenue they loose by not having someone going round offering a drinks service. Treatments were ‘ok’, food in the restaurant was very good

Omg this was the most horrible experiences i have ever had. We payd over £600 for one day for me and my partner. The food was awful, when we complained about the food we was promised dessert to the room, But waited and never got any. Altjough we payd for dessert. My massage i had the therapist was not good at all, i am a massage therapist my self and managed hotel spa. And i can honestly say it was the worst massage i have ever had. I asked the therapist to calm down 2 times, because he was too fast and now i am left with back Pain and leg Pain. When we complained they made up a story to blame things on us. They made a fake story. But i will never come here again very rude staff very rude receptionist. Dont book here!!!! To the The owner: you have sayd you spoke to my partner But you have camera all over your spa. And your still accusing us and making a fake story. Your camera and sounds will tell you that we havent done anything wrong we have been Nice to everyone. I should of walked out of that massage. I am a massage therapist and thats deffinetely not How to massage anyone. Your staff dont have the experience that is required to perform a proper massage. And i have over 15 years of experience managing hotel spa.

I have never written a review because I feel I don’t want to jeopardise a business but the way I have been treated by this place, people deserve to know what kind of people are managing this place. This place could be so beautiful if it was run by the right people. I purchased the romantic package which was £600 for a 1 night stay which I don’t mind as long as the service is good. Upon arrival we were told our massages will be 1 hour prior to us leaving the next day. Which I didn’t want as I wanted to relax a bit after my massage. I raised this with the spa staff straight away and they said there was nothing they could do. We were given our room key and made our way to our room, when arriving in the room I checked the bathroom which had an awful smell as if someone had just been in there not long before. I understand people need to go a number 2 but right before we arrive in our room? The lake looks beautiful outside in the garden but there were cigarette butts all on the floor outside, I understand people smoke but you should be providing them with an ashtray. We got ready and went down to the spa and it was so busy. You got no chance of getting a sun bed. Sauna and steam room were rammed and the jacuzzi was full. They definitely let too many people into the spa. We had a 3 meal course included in our package so later that day we went over for our meal. The menu is very small but we ended up going for the steak which was £10 extra each. The bread starter was okay but the main came and it was disgusting. We had not eaten all day prior to this and I was forcing bits down because I was so hungry. I left 60% of my meal and my partner left 70% and we declined desert. Spoke with the restaurant management and she agreed for a full refund for the food and offered desert as a complimentary (we waited in our room for 50 minutes for this) as they agreed to bring it to the room. In the end we left the hotel as we were so hungry and time was getting late. So we went for a Indian down the road called sanus (lovely food) The next day we had our 55 minute massage, 1 hour before departure. which also ended in disaster. My partner had a male massage therapist and she told him multiple times to slow down as it felt like he was rushing. My massage however was great done by a young lady. Some staff are really nice here but some don’t like you asking a question. Like your a burden on their life. When we left we raised the meal problem again with the reception and she said they need to wait to speak with restaurant manager about a refund so we left and have been emailing them since. In the emails they even accused me and my partner of abusing staff and laughing at them. Which anyone who knows us knows that we would never do that. They definitely made this up to avoid giving me the money back for the food. I even left the premises to go and eat. they have now said they will not refund us the food and that we can get 10% off another stay lol what a pathetic offer! I will never ever stay at this hotel ever again!

We stayed at this adult spa hotel over Valentine’s weekend. Overall, it was a nice experience, but there are some areas that could be improved. While the hotel has its charm, some of the policies were a bit too strict and not particularly guest-friendly. On the flip side, certain aspects of the service were lovely. Given it was Valentine’s Day, I was surprised that there wasn’t any entertainment provided. It would have been nice to have something special for the occasion to enhance the atmosphere. Additionally, the spa was extremely crowded, which took away from the relaxation a bit. However, the massage I had with Lisa made up for everything! She only works on weekends, but she’s absolutely top-notch. One of the best massages I’ve ever had—Lisa was professional, skilled, and made the experience truly memorable. Thanks to her, I’m giving 5 stars. If you visit, definitely book a therapy session with Lisa. She’s incredible!

It's okay but nowhere near as many spa options as somewhere like aqua springs. There's a large pool, a jacuzzi, 2 small steam rooms and a small sauna and that's it. The food is very hit and miss - I had the pork with gratin beans and gooseberry ketchup and it was incredible, definitely one of the best dishes I've eaten in a while. However, my partner had the langoustine risotto and it was very average and under seasoned. The pricing is high for somewhere that isn't consistently fantastic across the board. Because of the price, I wouldn't have even considered eating here if we hadn't had a gift voucher.

Beautiful place to go and stay and get away from the kids. Stayed for pamper and processor weekend. Which includes a nights stay, free glass of prosseco, a 50 minute treatment, either a massage or facial, you have to let them know what you want before you go. We also had lunch, dinner and breakfast, lunch and breakfast were amazing, didn't really like the choices they had for dinner ( quite posh) would of rather had the lunch menu for dinner.

Stayed overnight last weekend with three girlfriends and it was such a treat. The grounds are immaculate and breathtaking, we arrived midday on Saturday - a brilliantly sunny, clear winters day - and were stunned at how beautiful the nature and wildlife surrounding Lifehouse Spa are. It smelled gorgeous throughout the lobby and common areas, a mix of essential oils and open fires (assuming form the sauna and open fire in reception). The robes and towels were plentiful, clean and fluffy, and our rooms and bathrooms spotless. Yummy afternoon tea and good selection of wines and sparking, as well as delicious cumquat margaritas! We skipped on dining in the restaurant outside of what was included in our Virgin Experience vouchers, as it did seem quite expensive for what was on offer, we went to the local Indian restaurant in town which was great value, super yummy and a nice experience (a 5-min drive in a local taxi is £12 though, and everything, even pubs, close by 11pm, so do bear that in mind 🥲). The facilities could do with a bit of a spruce, fresh paint, a deep clean in some of the toilets and so on. It’s a fact of life with so much heat, damp, condensation etc. and needs to be kept on top of. Likewise, we needed to put some white noise on our phones overnight as there was some hissing and constant tapping from the central heating, could probably do with a check or a radiator bleed in room 61, but nothing we complained about or couldn’t sleep through with a little help! Overall, everyone was SO welcoming and sweet, from the minute we were collected from the train station until we left the following afternoon. We felt really looked after throughout and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Will for sure be back!

I had a spa day here on Monday. I paid £214 always wanted to go. I was very disappointed, I was cold and had to get dressed out of robe. Sauna was not working no warning or apology for this. My massage was not a good experience the lady who was doing my massage had an awful cold. She had a mask on and could not breathe properly. Her nose was running and she had to keep stop and wiping her nose without washing her hands after. I felt so sorry for her. She could hardly breathe. After my massage I thought I would use the relaxation room however at this time there was a group on and I was unable to do this. Again, there was no warning or explanation about this. If I had been told, I would’ve used the relaxation room at a different time. However, by this time it was time for me to go home. I did message and let the Lighthouse know my disappointment however I have not heard anything back sadly. Very disappointed.

Stayed here a few times over the years and the cut backs are definitely effecting the feeling of the place, even the quality of the food has dropped and some of the little touches around the place have been took away, even down to the candles on the tables at dinner have been removed and replaced with a very cheap little from poundland (terrible lighting) they obviously pay their staff peanuts as the service quality has dropped dramatically, DONT upgrade at dinner for there sharing steak as I’ve had it every time I’ve been and this time was terrible and I brought it to the managers attention and her attitude was appalling to say the least, VERY over crowded around the spa facilities and tired, your also pay £170 for a half hearted couples massage because the staff only get £11 out of that, definitely will never be returning as the last few times have been VERY disappointing! Overpriced, Overrated! GIVE A WIDE BIRTH AS THERE ARE BETTER PLACES TO GO!

We booked an overnight stay through a deal. Check-in was easy, and our room was ready early. It was clean and did the job but nothing fancy. However, the heating was variable we didn't have any control which led to being extremely hot at night and we couldn't get the bathroom towel rail to work. The actual spa facilities were ok but quite busy. At times we could not get in the hydro-pool or have a sit anywhere. My massage experience was a bit underwhelming and, even though we booked the same treatment with my partners, we had some variations. The highlight of the stay was the dinner which was very tasty and good quality. However, service was particularly slow: it took us nearly 2 hours to finish a 3 course dinner. Overall, the experience was ok but not as relaxing or rewarding as I would have expected it it to be.

An Uncomfortable Environment: We do love a good spa experience when cruising at sea, so this time we thought we would experience an on land experience at Frinton-on-Sea. Note that all my reviews on trip advisor are based on honest feedback. So let’s start with the: Positive: Outstanding location, about 1.5 miles from the town centre and coast line. Set in a lovely setting with good garden landscapes. Check in process was simple and effective, although I’m not one to like the pre authorisation of £50:00 going on the card. Bedroom was a nice size, good views and comfy bed. Breakfast good quality, good choices, and food hot from the buffet. Negatives: The Spa Swimming pool was cold and whilst it has lovely brown rattan sun loungers, the environment is spoilt, where they have put in extra cheap white plastic sun loungers to accommodate for the additional peak times; no doubt to simply to drive up the revenue. Lack of lighting over the jacuzzi tub area. Only one over head spray working, Wet steam room was ok as was the salt hydration room. Our Bathroom: The shower tray was dirty as was the floor. All the general common areas of the hotel and our room was excessively hot and you had no way of controlling the temperature in your room. It was like having to visit someone in a care home where they keep the heating on fall blast. Breakfast. Well what can I say! It’s certainly not our kind of environment so be careful and selective where you sit. For some reason they allow you to go and have breakfast in your Spa gowns, so if your the kind that likes to sit near others who have open gowns and spread eagled legs then go for it, but it’s not our cup of tea at 9:00am in the morning. The check out process: Well we are well seasoned travellers but this is not one that I have ever comes across. It goes like this: “Can I help your sir? Yes I would like to check out please. Certainly. Did you have a pleasant stay with us? No it was absolutely horrible and we didn’t enjoy it’ Now at this point, you would, or I certainly would have expected him to have said. “Oh I’m so sorry to hear that, what didn’t you enjoy, or is there anything you would like to raise with us! Nothing of the kind the response was simply “oh ok let me get you, your invoice for you’ Buyer beware, it might on the face of it be advertised as good vfm, but you pay for what you get and on this occasion we got very little and an unpleasant experience for our money.

The pool was amazing as was using the jacuzzi, I was shown how to put my belongings in a locker. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, explains how to get in when late. As the weather was awful I did not get a chance to view the gardens but did see the lake waiting for a massage before leaving. This was so relaxing and I used the relaxation room afterwards. Highly recommend. Met others who had just come for over night spa experience. Food was amazing. Could choose cooked food, cereals fresh fruit. Wonderful choice. My lunch was delicious to. We stayed overnight as a group of two couples. Afternoon tea was ok. Wasn't offered any refills so only had one tea! Spa was so packed with people we had no where to sit or place our robes. Relaxation room was cold (I have since seen they apparently have dealt with this since my visit). Otherwise the spa was good. Dinner options were slim. Breakfast was ok but they had ran out of eggs and hash browns despite us being there at an early-ish time. I'm sure staff would have been cooking more but rather than letting guests know this, we just stood around the counter like plums waiting until we got fed up and sat down.

Plenty of people have sorted about how good the spa is but to me it's the substantial gardens that are astounding. A walk through them will clear your mind after a Spa treatment. The restaurant serves a very fine menu throughout the day and even better in the evening. Breakfast buffet is pretty average for a place of this standard (nitpicking maybe :)). Special mention to Isabel on the front desk. She is a perfect example of customer service at is finest. Other staff could learn a lot from her.

Lovely spa day, very much enjoyed it. They were super accommodating with a last min request and very helpful when booking. Sadly one of the steam rooms was closed and whilst I enjoyed the treatment (facial) it was a little lacking compared to other spa venues of a similar standard, eg no face mask, no exfoliation. I also asked for a men’s facial, but I don’t think the products used were male specific. Would return, perhaps with a different treatment. Lunch was nice.

Amazing location set in the middle of 31 acres of woodland. Very tranquil and peaceful with very helpful staff who greet you as they go past; they were very hospitable. My wife enjoyed her 50 minute message. It has a variety of saunas with a large jacuzzi and bigger indoor pool. We were able to use all the facilities till 6pm although we checked out at 11am. My only gripe is the bed had a mattress that literally sunk in with soft pillows which didn't help my posture and bad back so I had a sleepless night. This is the only let down, which needs to be resolved. However, overall I will attend again as me and my partner thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

I’ve been a member for over a year at this place and can honestly say I’m shocked at the level of disrespect and disregard it has for its so called members , sarah attril was very rude and made some serious accusations to myself and my partner but when asked for cctv to back up her allegations of rudeness which is an absolute fabrication it was not available! I’ve since told them to cancel my membership which in reality has done me a massive favour as I the place is very tired and showing some serious state of repairs needed , always something broken , the men’s showers are covered with mould ,the pool has broken tiles , steam room smells of human faeces , the plunge pool stinks and is hardly ever working and always has a Hose pipe in it so clearly has a leak , and the chlorine levels burn your eyes even if your just sitting in the spa relaxing , the machine to dry your clothes is broke 80 percent of the time , the gym equipment is very minimal and tired and needs updating ,we was having a drink at the bar and see a giant rat run across the patio and was told that’s normal ! all reception and bar staff except one are decent people but Sarah needs to really get in check with reality and stop treating others as beneath her !also the fact that these people who run this place as soon as they receive criticism not rudeness they choose to throw out allegations rather than actually listen and rectify an issue I’d avoid .

Honestly, would give Lifehouse a 0 star if i could. They accused me and my partner of being rude to the receptionist which is an absolute lie, when asking about CCTV to prove it - nothing of course. Overpriced memberships over £100 a month to use the facilities, the spa/pool area is dirty and there is always something not working. They claim to have a 'state of the art gym' which honestly, is laughable. Absolutely SHOCKING customer service just to top it all off and when you let them know how awful their service is, they seem to think this is poor behavior from you and can't handle the critiscism. I told them I wouldn't want to spend my evenings that are meant to be relaxing in an establishment with such an awful customer service choices, upon them being told exactly how they have made me feel - there was no sorry, just that I'm not welcome back after taking my money for 2 months. It's a shame because it could be a really nice place.

I have visited Lifehouse many times over the years, most recently Thursday 28th March 24 and have never felt compelled to leave a review before... however today is the day !!! The full body massage I received from Lindsay was second to none. Within the first 15 minutes she had already made it into my all time top 3  massages, by the end she was No.1.. the pressure, sweeping motions the working on my shoulders and neck which are a challenge at best were consistently on point. Coupled with her sunny disposition just made the whole experience more wonderful. The Mary Poppins of therapists 'practically perfect in every way' and I would most highly recommend a visit to the Lifehouse if only to experience the magical hands of Lindsay. How she managed to melt away all my stresses over the last several months in just 55 minutes is nothing short of a miracle, so much so I asked if I could hug her at the end to show my gratitude. Lindsay you are without a doubt one of life's and Lifehouse's little treasures and I hope to see you again on my next visit.🙏

An honest feedback about my second stay at this hotel. The team in reception was kind and welcoming. The gardens around the hotel really make it peaceful and unique, every corridor has lots of light. The spa facilities are gorgeous, but if you are planning to go over the weekend be prepared for a very crowded experience: not a single bed free by the pool and 5 people at a time in the sauna, every hour of the day. The food is ok, but extremely overpriced: £40 for a beef steak, £25 for some grilled chicken. We stated several times in the reservation process our dietary requirements (no pork) and yet they served us chicken with some bacon on it (apparently a last-minute decision of the chef)... As an apology we were then offered a herbal tea, which was then charged to our room, so not really a nice gesture. The food service is also very slow, more than 50 minute to receive the meals. The room was ok, they prepared a swan made of towels since it was our anniversary. No hairdryer to be found in the room, so I went to dinner with my hair soaked wet. On our previous stay I remember there was one so maybe it was just bad luck this time... If you are planning to sleep a bit longer in the morning, forget about it: at 8:00 AM the cleaning team starts the day slamming 20 doors for 5 minutes. Breakfast is ok, but after 9 AM all the best pastries, fresh fruit and juices are already gone. I made the reservation more than 4 months ago and pre-booked a few spa treatments for me and my partner to make sure we would have treatments at the same time. I arranged everything with the spa reception and the lady confirmed. Well, on the day I found out that the starting time had been changed, so one of us was going to start 20 min earlier; 20 min difference is not a bit issue, but why would I book 4 months in advance then? However, the spa treatments were absolutely fantastic! We had Clarins facials, body shaper, sport massage and sole sensation treatments, and all were up to excellent standards. I would mention especially Poppy who was extremely skilled, professional and talented with the Body Shaper treatment. On departure I received a final bill, I then requested a breakdown of the charges (it was not included) and realised that the spa treatments were charged more than what they should have. They refunded the overcharge...

Treatments were good and pleasant staff, the same cannot be said for the restaurant and bar, unfathomably slow service at the bar and getting the attention of waiting staff in the restaurant was very difficult. The food was mediocre, if I cooked it at home I would be disappointed.

Me and my partner have been a few times over the years, and very recently had our first weekend at the Lifehouse since the pandemic and we were very grateful for it indeed! Lovely comfy rooms / beds / bathrooms, excellent food both in the restaurant and via room service, really nice spa area with sauna, steamroom and plunge pool, a decent swimming pool and good gym & workout spaces & changing rooms, beautiful grounds to explore, a few nice pubs a 10min walk away and above all else the staff are brilliant! From the lady whio picked us up at the station, to each of the reception staff, to the servers in the restaurant and not least the masseuses - had a 25min treatment from Christina that was genuinely probably the best back massage I've ever had. She seriously deserves a raise, and my fiancee reported that her massage was equally impressive. Thanks very much and looking forward to being back soon :)

Afternoon Tee Had a afternoon T- with proseco £75 for it, surprised Tee offered was in T-bags though. The sandwiches were nice as were the cakes, not really value for money when there is a local T room with more T on offer for cheaper and tastier sandwiches

We booked for an evening spa treat. Our welcome was friendly and helpful. We were offered wellies to have a wander of the lovely peaceful garden and grounds. We sat in the relaxing bar with a book and were looked after by friendly bar staff. The spa receptionist was cheerful and clear with instructions for changing and using the spa. The pool area was large and clean with dimmed lighting. The changing coloured lights could be slowed down a bit to offer a more calming rippling effect. Dinner was delicious and enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff. Will look forward to going again.

My husband brought me here for my 30th birthday. We stayed for 2 nights. The room was spacious and very clean. The view outside was so lovely too. We had the Hidden Sanctuary on one day, which was amazing, I would highly recommend it. We then had pedicures and full body massages on the next day, also really good! The breakfast was great. The Chateaubriand on the dinner menu was really good! I'd recommend their cocktails too. All of the staff were lovely - everyone asked how our stay was going and they were really helpful. From the bar staff, to the spa staff. I can't wait to visit again! They made the occasion even more special.

I took my mum for a spa day this weekend as a treat for Mother's Day. We loved every second! It is in a beautiful location, the spa is very bright with lots of natural light & it's very relaxing. I had a detox stress massage with Abbey, which was amazing & I tried the Dry Wave bed, which was incredible. Unfortunately, I had a dizzy spell later on in the afternoon, almost fainting near the glass windows. However, the staff were brilliant and very supportive, Leanne rushed over and helped my mum get me to a sofa & took care of me until I felt stable. She was brilliant, giving me advice & getting me a sugary drink to help me. Thank you so much, I know my mum, and I really appreciated the help. We can't wait to return another day to experience the beautiful gardens (as we cut our spa day experience short after my funny spell).

Absolutelly appaling customer service. I have booked a getaway with my best friend and provided card details, which they rejected numerous times, then provided another and a third one, which they did not accept either. These are cards I use every day. I have called to check what's happening and Jess, the receptionist did not try to help, demanded another card - I advised I have no more cards to offer. She asked me to read a card number out, I advised to use the one on the system as this is the one I always use. She then hung up the phone and cancelled my reservation. Funny how it says get ready to relax when you call them, but this is how they behave. Certainly do not recommend, there is nothing relaxing about this.

Stayed her for a night. It's everything you could want for a spa. Clean, helpful staff and tranquil. Would definitely visit again.

Dirty spa area. Door broken to the sauna. Same people hogged the jacuzzi for over an hour. Food really overpriced. Woman at the desk is a nightmare to deal with. Only nice part were the gardens. 100% Avoid.

Been here before but was a little disappointed this time. Toilet wouldn’t flush properly, which we made staff aware. Also when we came down for breakfast (9:30) - serving time 7-10am - there wasn’t a lot of choice, felt like we just had the dribs and drabs left - all the juices were empty and after asking the man to fill them up, he was very miserable and then ignored my request. Which then after waiting 10/15 minutes I asked another server for. We were not late for breakfast. We should have as much choice and quality as anyone else coming down any earlier. We were finished in the restaurant by 10am. This was main frustration for us. Other than that, lovely facilities but always very busy.

Had a very pricey massage today for £99 stated in the description " foot ritual" the therapist said to me "we start with hot foot mitts on the feet in the foot ritual" looking forward to this I thought as the room was cold and my feet were freezing. She peeled back the towel (thin towel) and wiped my feet with a hot cloth ...once That's a ritual apparently. Covered them back up and moved on. I thought ah she will come back and put thsse hot mitts on my freezing feet soon. Nope ...didn't touch my feet again. I complained that it was a mediocre massage in a cold room and the "foot ritual" was non existent. The spa manager said "ah yes we have had a problem with this others have said the same. It's the products company's description I'm afraid and we can't do anything. No apology about the cold room. I was then expected to pay the extortionate £99. Wish I'd taken my phone in too as there are no clocks but I swear it was 40 mins not an hour. So top tip. Wear fluffy socks and thermals and take a watch. Pool was cold too. 🥶
