Ive been into the museum many times but never into the Cafe i thought i would have a sandwich and a cup of decaf tea i picked a sandwich and asked the girl with scruffy cloths and untidy long hair behind the counter if i could please have a decaf tea she said that`s £7 i paid by card it was the 18th of April and when i looked at the sandwich use by date it was the 18th as well i said to the girl is it ok if i change this for a better date she looked at me and said the sandwich is good i went and changed it then i waited for my decaf tea she came out and said we have no decaf tea i said ill have a decaf coffee then please she shoved a tray on the counter slammed the coffee on the saucer and the milk and never said a word, i am always polite this girl wants sacking, she was rude miserable scruffy dirty cloths and hair, the cafe is lovely pity about the staff and the extortionate price for an out of date cheese sandwich and a decaf tea stroke coffee, first and last time for me.

This café is located on the ground floor of the Leeds city Museum. It is also directly accessible from outside. Not much is made of the historical setting. The prices were reasonable, two flat whites cost £5.20.

Very spacious cafe. Beautiful green tiles on walls. Assorted pre made sandwiches, salads and cakes on counter. We just had herbal teas. The metal teapots are very leaky. Lovely choice of tables or sofa seating. It was very cold. Not sure if open gallery doors send a draught right through. Would worry that a winter visit would not be comfortable. Pleasant customer service.

Nice place for a quick lunch or coffee after a busy day shopping and sightseeing. Ground floor entrance as well, if you don't fancy traipsing up the steps up to the museum. I had ham sandwich which was on thick farmhouse bread, plus lovely carrot cake and tasty coffee. Good place to stop when visiting the Leeds Tiger, just outside the cafe!

My mum ordered a wrap...we sat with drinks etc waiting for food to then be told they didn't have that wrap. Visited today with a group of young people and even though staff were standing around doing nothing the youngsters had to clean the tables. The floors were filthy and at £1.35 for a can of coke it would have been cheaper to go somewhere else.

..... to describe my experience here. Awful. Everything I wanted to eat was off the menu because they had run out. I had to settle for a mature cheddar sandwich but even then the bread I requested had run out. The cheddar was certainly not mature, having little more taste than ordinary supermarket cheese. The price of £4.25 made me think I would at least get a few "leaves" but all I got was a small dish of crisps. The sandwich was poorly presented and was so dry I was thankful for my coffee. Strange about the coffee. It was nice. But the takeaway I bought at the end made me wonder exactly what I had ordered. The cafe was packed. Sadly there were a lot of children whose parents need a few classes in parenting. The ambience was more like a school playground. OK it's half term and it won't be like that at other times but the staff did nothing to keep things under control. If the food was OK I would return another day but they will not be seeing me again. My first coffee is the only reason this cafe got even one star. A place to avoid.

We popped into the cafe on the lower ground floor of the Leeds City Museum to have some lunch and as a refuge from a rainstorm that was about to come down. I suspect this cafe has recently been refurbished and rebranded, because it’s now called “The Corner Cafe”.In summary, the food and drink here was nice enough, but there was nothing particularly interesting on offer and the portions weren’t particularly generous for the price. We had a pot of tea for two, and there was really only enough for one small cup each: there was another half a cup left over in the pot after pouring our drinks. Perhaps we were inadvertently given a pot of tea for one, but with two cups and saucers. Frankly, I’d advise ordering a mug of tea rather than a pot, as this would have been much better value. To eat, I had a chicken and chorizo hot sandwich and tortilla chips. This was nice enough, but not frightfully big for a fiver. My wife had a jacket potato and cheese. The jacket potato was really quite small, and it was served with a side salad that was very much an afterthought rather than an accompaniment. All in all, this was a very underwhelming meal. Nothing bad about it as such, but very little to recommend it either.

The main gallery is being refurbished. Leeds don't seem to be bothered about the cafe. No entrance sign from the street, have to guess and enter via library door. Inside a superb tiled room has uninspiring furniture and a general air of 'don't care'. Is no one in charge? Where is city and establishment pride? Food is covered by the recurrent underwhelming reviews. Not a place to visit again.

Came here today and well I personally thought it was very poor! I had a scone which was inedible... it was so hard I could have broken a tooth or a window even! The hot chocolate was very bitter and lukewarm. It was very expensive really for what you get and the quality of it. There were very few cakes to choose from, not enough cutlery and to be honest the whole visit to the cafe could have easily have ruined the whole day! The museum is pretty good but the cafe really let's it down. Anyone wanting to spend a day there would be better off finding another place to eat and drink because it really is poor. I remember it being better than this year's ago when I visited.

Stopped here after visiting paying the museum in Leeds a visit. The place looked nice and clean, and had an alright selection of products on offer for lunch. Choice fell upon a sizable scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam. While the scone was by no means cheap already, additional expenses were charged for both the cream and the jam to my astonishment. In the end I had to pay over 5 quid for the scone. Fortunately, however, it was really tasty. It had better been for the money.

Called in for a coffee after visiting the museum with our 2 year old grandson. The staff couldn't do enough for us and wanted to know what our grandsons favourite animal was, so they could draw a picture it in the froth of our coffee! It was a very creditable effort of a tigers head and even if our grandson was more impressed with his ice lolly, we thought it was a lovely touch. The coffee was good and hot and even though we didn't have a cake, the scones did look particularly delicious.

Working nearby, I've eaten here for lunch maybe half a dozen of times in the last six months. The greats: 1) Amazing cakes, beautiful, scrumptious, a little different to your usual 'chocolate fudge/cheescake/carrot cake fare...very, very nommy!2) Good range of cold drinks - lots of yummy juices (try the bumbleberry!)3) Staff are lovely, couldn't be more helpful or friendly4) Light, airy, comfy sofas, music not too loud, outside is beautiful on sunny daysThe downside: every sandwich they do. It's so disappointing. They offer flatbreads, wraps, bagels, paninis and, as I tried today, ciabattas. They put everything into the panini machine. Paninis are usually made with strong flavours and plenty of cheddar/mozarella, both of which melt and ooze, gelling everything together. If you put houmous and roast vegetables into a panini machine, it just makes a crunchy outside and a soggy, tasteless inside. And this goes for pretty much every single sandwich they do unfortunately (and I've tried most by now!). It also comes with a salad where everything is cut far too chunky (I don't want an entire mouthful of tomato, I'd like a little bit of everything) and the coleslaw is just huge hunks of red cabbage, unseasoned with some insipid creamy sauce mixed with it...completely unappealing! I so much want to give this place 5 stars as I reckon if I had only ever come here for coffee and cake or maybe a soup (which always smells lovely!), I would probably love it! Unfortunately, given the fact that I have not yet found a single sandwich that tastes of anything but cardboard mush, I am forced to only give it 3 stars. Raise your game guys, you could be great!

Called in Tuesday this week (don't think it is open on Monday's) for a light snack. Nice and light and roomy. Plenty of seating with 3 large tables, many small tables and at least one sofa inside plus the outdoor tables and chairs.Small range of excellent wraps (toasted), panninis, soup (broccoli and goats cheese when I was there). All looked wonderful. I had the chicken, chorizo, spinach and cheddar wrap. It came with a bowl of coleslaw and side salad. It was spot on. Fabulously tasty (the red onions were a bit fierce in the salad).Usual range of drinks and soft drinks in the fridge. My wrap was about £4.50 which I thought represented great value.Thanks.

Having experienced excellent service and food in the tiled hall and hearing this was the same food etc decided to try it out.The girl on the counter was not very helpful and pointed out from the already limited menu what wasnt avaialble. I couldnt swap a bagel filling to a panini, no explanation why just that it had to be as per the menu. I opted for a tuna sandwich on brown with a side salad. Took a while to arrive and was on white! no time to send back as on my lunch break. The amazing fruit scone with cherries and nuts on saved the day and I would go back just for one of those.Plenty of tables inside and out and free wifi.

Really good Sunday lunch at the bay tree in stillington, the portions were very generous and it’s easily the best Yorkshire pudding I’ve ever had. The staff were very friendly and welcoming.
