Do not recommend. We were overcharged for the food. Too expensive for what is offered and much better options around.

An Italian restaurant situated at a corner of the Leadenhall market (entrance is down the stairs!) Grabbed a take out here for dinner after walking past numerous times, and decided to get the king prawns with black ink spaghetti. Spaghetti was quite average and I had expected more in terms of the flavour given the price point.

Always a pleasure to luncheon here. The food is always great, the service immaculate and friendly, as well as an extensive Italian wine list.

Extremely unfriendly. The food was bad. Most of all the service was just awful. Will never come back and recommend avoiding at all costs

The food is quite ok, the tomato sauce is clearly not homemade and neither are the pasta. But the worst part is that they serve bread as a starter, without warning anywhere they charge €10 per person, including a 5 year old child. It does not offer a children's menu, they sell smaller portions, with prices almost identical to those for adults. I don't recommend it under any circumstances.

Unfriendly service, very bad meat ball spaghetti (tasted like mostly convenienced tomato sauce and meat balls) - high price ~20£ pP the open wine was a Cabernet Shiraz, very sweet and horrible taste, a shame for any Italien restaurant

Dining at Giorgio's has always been a pleasure. The food is consistently good and there is plenty of it. The service is outstanding and the whole operation runs like a well oiled machine. The wine is a tad pricey, in my view, but this is a very minor demerit, given that business lunches are almost invariably less liquid than was once the norm.

Italian restaurant where the dishes are decent, no more. Very average service, we have the impression that we are bothering them. The desserts are not good! The worst happens when it's time to pay the bill, you have to pay for the service and cutlery (cuterly) which adds a lot to the bill!! Normally it's one or the other. In conclusion, very expensive for what it is with unfriendly service.

Average food at high prices with rude service. We felt rushed at every stage to finish our food and leave the restaurant at a time that felt very early for London - the staff switched off the music at 8.30 as a clear sign that they wanted us out.

NOT WORTH ONE STAR!!!!! My son and I made the mistake of choosing this restaurant, among the multitude of better choices in London ‘s Leadenhall Market immediate area! We were greeted and shown mediocre service. The whole atmosphere felt tense. It is an odd and uncomfortable restaurant. What prompted me to write this review is their outrageous pricing and their COVER CHARGE!!! We were never told of the ridiculous add on charges! No where are there add in charges listed! We were sightseeing, getting hungry and needed a rest so we decided to try Giorgio’s; big mistake! We didn’t want cocktails or wine, just TAP water with our meal. It was not printed and We were NOT told of the COVER CHARGE per person!!!! This is a very important fact in this ordeal. If this sad establishment wishes to be a posh 5* restaurant they may want to start doing business like one! The waiter took our order, asked if we wanted drinks (wine or other from bar) we said no, and he looked put off…a waitress came around with a bread basket. We took a half slice of bread. A HALF slice! There was a small dish of Butter and green olives on table. We placed our order….. the dishes were ok, not the worse, and certainly not the best. We ate. Declined dessert and then after an unusual long wait were given the tab…. 71.66. Let this sink in…. 2 pasta dishes a slice of bread and tap water….no meat no salad no appetizers no dessert….we thought NO Fckn way!! I looked at the tab: ridiculous cost of past A per person COVER charge !? 6 for tap water and they had the freakin nerve to add a tip!!! It’s unbelievable that they charged us just for sitting at their table, (use of a napkin, and for a piece of bread! ) Sounds like a joke? The joke or shall I say SCAM was on us! I asked what their cover charge actually covers and was told sitting there, the napkins, table cloth, the bread, (half slice was offered) butter, olives, salt and pepper…. I wish this was not true but yes this restaurant charges customers to sit at their table and use the napkins and salt the food!! I have been to more than 10 countries as well as the many states in the US and have dined in all sorts and styles of pubs, restaurants, and quaint diners and NEVER had I the disgraceful experience of being charged to sit at a table. We wanted a quick lunch, we were robbed instead! I don’t know of any other restaurant here in London, or any where else in the world for that matter, that would stoop so low to charge customers because they have to wash napkins and table cloths! I’m still shocked and disgusted by this! My son ordered a spaghetti dish and I ravioli. We expected, although extremely pricey, the bill to come to around 48.00. Remember this is a quick pasta lunch!!! We got the bill, 71.66 Ridiculous price for pasta dishes. Cover charge 6 for tap water They also had the nerve (no surprise) to add their own gratuity! Have they no shame, self respect? Apparently no!! Why don’t the owners just get a bucket or top hat and start panhandling?! Actually they robbed us not begged ; I give more respect to beggars than thieves!! I suggest Giorgio Restaurant stop this embarrassing unethical practice. They saw two tourist coming a mile away and took advantage. I will be looking into this with the City of London. I don’t care if the Italian cuisine tastes like Heaven ( it doesn’t it was good not spectacular) still, it should not cost a customer to sit at their table, be Charge 6. a bottle for lousy TAP water and they add their tip!! SHAMEFUL!! Do NOT NOT NOT go to Giorgio’s Italian Restaurant in Leadenhall Market London UK!! Walk quickly pass and stop at a more REASONABLE COMFORTABLE restaurant in the area! Surely you’ll be welcomed to salt and pepper your food at no extra cost!! Total 71.66 for two pasta dishes 2 TAP waters and 2 half pieces (1 slice) of bread!! NOT Good Giorgio’s! This restaurant should be EMBARRASSED!! Nothing posh about being so cheap; they have no shame to nickel and dime patrons! Owners, why not panhandle instead?

Great food, huge portions, friendly staff. A classic.

I’ve always wanted to try this place. The greeting was warm and friendly and the restaurant felt very comfortable. There’s an old fashioned cover charge of £5 a head for olives and bread. I haven’t encountered this for years and years. It felt rather quaint. I would prefer to see it incorporated in the main charges rather than separate but that’s just my opinion. I had very tasty haddock and salmon fishcakes on a bed of spinach and my companion had spaghetti and meatballs. We shared a rocket and parmesan salad and both had a glass of house red which was good. The affogato was delicious and served in a lovely glass. We liked the food and felt very nicely served. The ambiance was interesting because it’s in the heart of the city and it was full of business people who could well have been dining on expense accounts. That was our only caveat; we both felt it was very expensive for what it was, which means sadly, that we won’t be regulars.

This was an absolute rip-off. Compulsory £5 cover charge per person for some measly bread and olives. We ordered some meat dishes and were supplied - unasked - with vegetables, which were added to the bill for £7 a head ( we were not made aware of this and only found out when presented with the bill). The house wine was sourced from Morrisons. And then we were asked to pay service charge on top off that. We absolutely do not recommend this place.

We always enjoy Giorgio's. It's a genuine Italian restaurant with a good range of freshly prepared choices on the menu, including special pasta dishes. The standard of cooking is reliably high, the service is excellent and the presentation not too fussy. Nice bottle of Gavi too.

Overall experience was good but the space is very crunched in the basement. Service was quick and professional. Food was good taste. Price seemed to be over priced.

We had a fantastic experience at Giorgio’s. We were given a spacious and slightly secluded table for seven for our special occasion. The classic Italian food was absolutely delicious - fresh ingredients, freshly cooked and beautifully presented. The service was remarkably quick and attentive. This felt about as close to being in Italy as possible, and in the delightful setting of the historic Leadenhall Market. Giorgio’s was deservedly very busy. Thank you for a most enjoyable visit!

Consistently good food and service - a great place with great food

The food was only warm for myself and my two guests when it arrived. Portion size was ample and tasted good. The waiters were very attentive but a bit too much as it made us feel rushed and spoilt our lunch a little. The restaurant was lovely and I have visited in the past as it is an historical venue in Leadenhall Market. Would go back again in the future.

We had a party of 9 enjoy an amazing meal on Saturday night. The staff were very attentive and the food was lovely. I recommend this restaurant.

Previously gave this place a five star review - kiss of death! Returned today and far less impressive. Prices have gone up and standards seem to have declined. Not a good mix. Cant say it was desperately bad but my wifes ravioli was stone cold and merely returned reheated with bad grace and no apology. My veal was ok but food generally was average and expensive. Staff not friendly at all. Nobody bothered to ask if we enjoyed the meal. Tables rather close together. Popular still with City types. We probably wont return though.

Food was excellent as was the service, it’s been a long time since I had my coat taken and hung up upon entry. I can highly recommend the fillet steak.

It is so good to dine at a traditional restaurant such as this in the City. Giorgio has, in one form or another, been here since I started my career in the 1970s and has been a consistent performer throughout. The food is of good quality and comes in generous portions. The wine list is excellent. The staff are, however, what makes this place so special. Many of them are (in the nicest possible way) long standing fixtures and characters. The whole operation runs like a well oiled machine. Top marks.

Giorgio's is the restaurant of choice for our small team. Meeting colleagues or friends here is always a pleasure. Giorgio himself always there and providing first class service , such a lovely man

Very mediocre, not much ambiance. Maybe because it was a Monday evening and very quiet. The waiter was not the 'typical' waiter normally found in an Italian restaurant, not at all helpful, cheerful, or friendly. However, the waitress was completely the opposite and far superior. I have been eating at Italian restaurants for over 50 years years, and sadly have to admit I was sorely disappointed the first time at Giorgio's. Unfortunately, I found it extremely overrated.

The 1st I went here I wasn't sure based on the comments but it was absolutely delicious!!! Went back again my 2nd week in town and was just as good. They have gf pasta and do a great job cooking it! The service is great as well. The only thing that wasn't done is asking me how it was however I think as I was by myself, business trip and on my mobile, probably didn't want to interrupt me. I've paid much more at other places, not in this area but I found they're prices very fair. I HIGHLY recommend giving it a try!!

Great place for a business lunch with an authentic Italian atmosphere.

The food was delicious as usual! The service was great as well, this is my second visit to Giorgio and I’m pretty sure I will frequent the restaurant in the near future. Feels like home!

The aesthetic is traditional in style and could possibly benefit from an uplift but the food was exceptional. Service was professional and friendly. A hidden gem.

Very good traditional Italian restaurant, with excellent service. I had the grilled mushroom with goats cheese to start and then spaghetti vongole. Both were excellent, washed down with a nice Chianti (I know, red with seafood - but I don't care). I wasn't really sure what to think about the prices when I saw the menu - at first I thought they were a bit on the high side, especially for the starters. But then they came out and were notable in the generosity of the portion sizes....so perhaps the tip here is to make sure you are suitably hungry before you go and then really enjoy yourself!

Portions are huge but I would probably be happier with slightly lower price and smaller portions

Quite old-fashion Italian Restaurant. Location well maintained and quite "real" Italian offering. Prise are far from the quality/product/location.

It's always a treat at Georgia's - it's an institution! Food as excellent as ever but it's the people who make you so welcome too.

This may be an iconic restaurant in an iconic London Market, but does not live up to its pricing. The food is good but not great, but the service is poorly executed by long-standing waiting staff of little enthusiasm, who clearly believe that customers get in the way of their apparent frequent trips to the bar on personal missions.

Best Italian in the City. Food always exceptional and George is the best host.

I believe that you can eat way better Italian cuisine and cheaper somewhere else. The service was not on point for again the price of what you are paying. Again a personal opinion. I would not recommend this restaurant.

We turned up late for dinner a scant hour before the restaurant closed. After they confirmed we knew the close time and would have a little rush they could not have been more accommodating! Everything was handled very quickly and the team were super friendly. Next time I am in the area I will definitely go back but will surely be earlier so I can fit in that extra bottle of wine and limoncello 🙂

Food is average, we were a group of 8 so tried a variety of starters. I then had the Lasagna which I wouldn't recommend. Only one gluten free dish. Atmosphere was akward.

Great traditional food in an excellent location. They were very busy when we visited, but the staff worked hard to ensure good service. The crowd meant that it was very noisy and difficult to hold a conversation. The food was very tasty, but meal was expensive and not an everyday option.

Chosen because convenient location for business lunch. Never been here before. Would definitely go again. Quite surprised by the number of people at lunch. Pleasant atmosphere, good food and attentive service. This appears to be a very well run operation and not surprised by its popularity.

I went to Giorgio's with a friend for our annual Christmas lunch. Everything from start to finish was excellent. The service, food and atmosphere was all that I hoped for. I will definitely be going back.

Outstanding food and service. The gnocchi and other pasta were perfect. Giorgio is a little-known gem in the City, for lunch or dinner - one of my favorites in London.

Amazing meal. Seated promptly, wine served within minutes. Ordered the special which was leg of lamb which was simply stunning - succulent, tasty and plenty of it. Came with roast potatoes and veg. Cannot fault the meal, wine and service. Didn't opt for dessert as we were too full!

From entering to leaving we were made to feel so welcome. Food was so well prepared and cooked. Will definitely be back.

I have used Giorgio’s for many different occasions and it just works every time. The welcome is warm and friendly, every time. The food is exceptional, every time. And we never feel we have to rush which is a great find in the City. I highly recommend Giorgio’s.

The meat and fist options are good but unfortunately there are no vegan options in the menu which has let me down :( I recommend to have vegan-friendly menu.

Open table confirmed my reservation and keeps asking by me about the dinner yet the restaurant was closed so we never got to eat there.

Visited for dinner during our visit to London. When we arrived, we were promptly seated, service for the rest of the meal was good. The place itself was underground and the decor was outdated. For food, we got the prawn cocktail, spaghetti vongole, and the parpadelle with ragu sauce. The prawn cocktail was actually nothing like what I expected. The ones I've had in the past came with giant prawns with cocktail sauce for dipping. The one I got here is more like tiny shrimps mixed in salad sauce. Perhaps it was just a mismatched of expectation, but it tasted mediocre and unrefined. Spahgetti vongole was acceptable, the taste was there, but relatively bland, it was lacking that strong clam taste with white wine. Noodle was al dente, a bit undercooked if any. The parpadelle had a good texture, taste was good, probably one of the better dishes we ordered. Overall, we expected better given the high ratings of this place, but was left a bit underwhelmed and disappointed.
